I recently bought a Galaxy Watch (46mm) variant and I wanted to change the region so it could support Samsung Pay as it's not available in India. I came across the "sdb tool" that could potentially change the region but can't find the download link to it. All the posts surrounding the region change lead me to "https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74585286&postcount=330" but the "SDBstarterKidv1" file is probably removed as I am getting error 410 when trying to download. Sorry, I am a total noob so I would appreciate if someone could help me out in changing the region so Samsung Pay could work.
Thank you in advance.
I'm on mobile so It's going to take me a moment to find the link now.
Before you do anything you should check what region you want to add and find the code for it, because the region names are just 3 letter codes and it's hard to know what is going on when selecting the code and you don't want to spend hours guessing. And before you change the region write down the one your watch came with so you can go back if needed.
First download the zip from here on your computer.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74585286&postcount=330
And next follow the steps on here to change region (I know it says gear sport but I did it step by step on my galaxy watch)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sm...nging-region-samsung-gear-sport-r600-t3771324
And that should do the trick.
I tried the steps but I am getting the error everytime I run sdb connect- error: failed to connect to remote target '192.168.0.185'
Any solution?
Are you sure you got the IP right? They are usually usually 192.168.1.x
Did you reboot after setting up debugging mode on?
I only changed the WiFi to always on and it worked fine, by the way I have fixed IP set on my devices on the router but it shouldn't matter.
Edit: I just looked into it, try the IP with the port too like this example: 192.168.1.10:26101

Hey. Thanks it worked just fine. I think I missed reboot step which was causing the issue. Also I downloaded Tizen studio (CLI) and installed it. Don't know if that helped but it worked so thanks a lot.

Nice, I'm glad I could help!
After you download sdb 2.2.6, first open data/tools and run sdb, window will close. Then run CMD from same folder by holding shift + right click and open cmd. Then you need to type sdb connect (watch ip) and confirm RSA auth. On watch, pay attention to watch when it appears. Then type sdb shell and copy command for changing region.
I was getting same error, because I didnt pay attention to watch, it didnt wake up the screen to accept RSA authentication.
Question
I got a Galaxy Watch(LTE) as a present from a friend abroad. I would like to use the LTE feature(make calls etc) on my country.
Do I need to change region?
or
Do I need to updagte the firmare to the latest one applying on my carrier and country?
or
I need both of the above?
Thank you very much

Hey, I did all of the above and got to the sdb connected stage. However, when i type sdb shell, it said error: more than one target found. Specify the target with -s option. how do i fix this?
Hello
What would be the steps if I am doing the process on a MacBook? I can see there is a macOS option in the zip file but it does not contain the same apps like Ansicon.exe.
Any help would be appreciated!

Changing the region on Galaxy Watch R800
Hi all, I recently bought a Galaxy SM-R800 and thought I would be able to use it with Samsung Pay in Australia. The app fails to connect to the watch (Samsung Pay Watch plug-in). From what I can see, the watch was made in Vietnam.
The software installed is as follows:
One UI version - 1.5
Tizen version - 4.0.0.7
Software version - R800XXU1DSL1
Knox - 2.4.0
Knox Tizen Wearable SDK - 2.4.0
SE for Tizen - 2.0.0
TIMZ - 3.0.0
Does anyone have a solution for this. I've tried what I could find online, which appears to have outadated firwares that dont work with the current firmware already on the watch. Hoping someone has a solution. Thanks in advance.

Hi all,
Every steps are ok. When I type "launch_app csc-manager.csc-pre-configuration", it is "successfully launched", but nothing appears on my watch.
It is an SM-R805F.
Do you have any idea?
Thank you in advance!

Hi everyone,
Have just purchased a new Galaxy Y here in China and restored to original factory settings however everything is in Chinese which isn't a problem as I can change the language to English however all the default Google Apps are missing and replaced with Chinese equivalents it seems so I'm unable to use them.
So... how can I restore it to a version of Android something functional for me? I'm on mac os x lion with vmware for any windows apps I need and am computer literate enough to attempt anything like flashing a device / updating a rom but have no idea where to start with this. Have read some docs on Odin but they made little sense at first because I don't quite know what steps I need to take in order to carry out this task. I've found various Roms but these are India, Netherlands, Greece versions, does anyone know of a UK version?
Any pointers would help greatly, thanks in advance!
Update: Just came across http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465800 so am reading through here however I'm not sure which ROM to go for, the European pack work with sim cards in Asia?

first thing that the initial setup offers after full reset, is to change the language. It's the button on the the right hand side of the screen. if you press the green android, it's too late. then you must navigate to language setup by memory.

I've changed the language but it's a custom Chinese rom as China bans everything google so I need to get it on a normal UK Android setup or something, maybe the European pack from the aforementioned link?
Current versions as follows:
PDA: S5360ZCKK2
PHONE: S5360ZCKK2
CSC: S5360ZHKK2

Thank you for this, am just looking at Docky's stock roms now. Seems like the phone isn't locked to any specific network as accepts both Hong Kong and UK sim cards at the moment. I'm a little confused about setting the CSC and provider/region stuff after flashing it, basically I'm in Asia for the next 10 months and will have various sim cards from different countries and want them all to work. Possible do you think? Or will I have to flash to country specific firmware/csc relative to the sim card I'm inserting?

Well, Im in Asia country too. I tried Docky's Custom ROM which is based on XX which is European firmware and my phone works together with the SIM provider and network. So, the CSC is basically the language supported by your phone (based on my experience). Thus, Im sure you can use European firmware when you are in Asia country

I think the simpliest way to solve this is to update its firmware via samsung kies, besides its the official update you can get and you'll be sure it'll be safe. Ive updated mine through this method and havent tried the ODIN thing. Good luck though

Hi,
I really appreciate all the posting which is done on this site, and it has helped me many times (as I often act as the 'family' technician who can fix things).
But this time, I inherited a bricked Vietnamese Galaxy Young. The issue I have is that event though I installed ODIN in its most recent release, the phone in DOWNLOAD mode is not recognized on the 2 computers I usually use on other Samsung phones.
Is there an Asian-specific driver which needs to be used?
Alas, the phone was backed up using the CWM backup, but it refuses to boot into CWM (just hangs at logo). The only mode it boots into is Downlaod mode. But it need to be recognized correctly before Odin can do anything
Thanks for suggestions

make sure samsung usb drivers are installed - use rear usb ports not front ones and you can try a different usb cable (there is no specific regional driver just a generic samsung usb driver)
once in download mode connect usb cable to pc
push vol up on phone to start connection (wait a 30 secs in case drivers start installing)
open odin 3.07
if it is connected it will say com then a number in a coloured box under com:id on the left hand side
Hi everyone, I've just downloaded linux on dex and it seems to work fine but does anyone know how to shut it down? Thanks!
Really? It doesn't launch at all for me. Says I need to update, and then shuts down.
Works kinda well for me. I can't type the "@" and can't shut down but everything else seems pretty decent. You need to update what? Maybe try redownloading and unzipping again. I've had problems unzipping with myfiles so I've used another app for that. It could be the unzipped file is corrupted?

What is weird is that our T-Mobile S4's have ARJ3 which is the latest available update on Sammobile for any Tab S4. But our firmware version has a U1 in it for the bootloader and the bootloader in ARJ3 for the rest of the Tab S4's is U2.
BTW I think the latest Verizon Firmware is ARI4 which would be a month before ARJ3.

Tab S4 Verzion Linux On Dex Issue
I am having the same issue with a tab s4 on verizon network. Linux On Dex complains about needing a software update, I sent an email to the email on file with the google play listing for this issue and will see if they reply.
IMO: It's kind of misleading for Samsung to say this works on a Tab S4 when clearly it does not work on all models. Seems people with carrier versions are getting the shaft.
May i ask what app you used to unzip? I am having the same problem with my files.
I've used es file explorer.... Then once unzipped I moved the folder into the proper location. Es file explorer would appear to be able to unzip it with no problem
Hello,
Folks who were able to get Linux on Dex to work, does it work on Tablet mode as well or do you need to attach the external keyboard? I am thinking about buying the Tab S4 if I can run Linux without the external monitor setup (with a bluetooth keyboard). Thanks for your help!
You just need dex, which you can enable even without a keyboard but if you wanna use Linux then yeah you need an external keyboard of some sort

I don't know, I kind of blame the carriers for this one. T-Mobiles handed off the relevant bits so the torch has been passed.

This will work in Dex Mode on the tablet itself. You do not need any accessories although a mouse and keyboard are recommended as it is a desktop OS. You can use the on screen keyboard and touch in DeX mode with Linux.
In Tablet mode only you can get to a command prompt. But be aware that that the command prompt will not allow sudo. I was hoping to do an update and could not from the tablet mode command prompt.
For those with Carrier versions (i.e. Verizon, T-Mobile):
I had to be on the October Security Patch and firmware version U2ARJ3 as the last 6 characters. Note the U2 for the bootloader version. T-Mobile's Tablet ships with U1ARJ3 and would not work. You will need to wait for the carrier to do the updates.
Hope this helps!
Same "update required" problem here, but my tablet is a WiFi version, not attached to a carrier. So I guess is more related on how awful the rollup of the updates is managed in general by Samsung, based on region specific requirements.

Thanks yea I already got it, I am the OP of this thread
Was just saying with my S9 there was one tool to download the firmware and one tool to flash it, just had to put the phone in download mode, from what I've read so far it doesn't seem to be that simple with the P30
For example some regions for the S9 would receive the update before others, but they were compatible with each other, so we could download that region and flash it until our own arrived, then flash back, with the P30 I'm reading things about editing config files and changing DNS and all sorts of weird stuff to just get the firmware in the first place, and flashing wipes the phone clean, where the S9 you could flash and not lose anything
Lots of reading to do

are you using the android app or the windows app?
if you are using the windows version open it, click on the "common base"near the top right, then you need to type your model type in (which you can find in your phones settings) mine is ELE-L29, click the search icon and you will see the firmware upgrades available for your model.
then right click the firmware you want to test (you always want to chose the FullOTA-MF
firmware options) and click check firmware access. if you get the result firmware is approved, click ok and then right click again on the firmware you just tested and chose copy.
then click the icon above named DNS update (the name of the icons show up when you put your mouse over it)
in the popup right click in the editable field and it paste, then right below it click register, once this is done the Team MT server will have registered your IP address and will know to send it the firmware that you just registered.
after you have done this you will be able to use either option 1 or 3 that i posted above
it may actually be easier to register on the phone but i found step 3 the easiest which you will need your pc for anyway. i left my phone in the car and cant remember the steps exactly enuf to try to explain them for the phone app
it doesn't matter how you register the firmware, via phone app or pc app, except that on the phone you will need to be using wifi to register your ip address

Hello!. I have a P30 from Claro operator (I'm from Colombia) and I would like to know if you can flash to a global firmware without having to unlock the bootloader. The operator firmware bothers me a lot because it doesn't update often.
My GW was updated to latest version and suddenly the sensors(gyro, accl,hr) not working at all. I want to try my luck by flashing firmware that can revert tyzen 4.0.0.4 to 4.0.0.1. However I messed up on placing AP BL CSC where I put CSC file onto CP section on Odin(only to realize the mistake after Odin shows fail). Now my watch stuck on bootloop everytime I try to restart or going recovery mode.
I try to flash other firmware provided by some user for SM R800(the same guy where I got the reverting tyzen files from). None of the firmwares work, all resulted with FAIL in Odin when flashing. Please help. Where can I get latest firmware as of now for SM R800?(my device bought in UK Bluetooth version)
Thank you in advance.
My firmware before I messed up was R800XXU1CSG4/R8000XA1CSG4
With Odin you mean netOdin (WiFi) or you allready connected USB cable?
Best Regards
Edit 1.
Here example for you... why I am asking about "tiny" difference Odin or netOdin...

Sorry for the mixup, it was NetOdin for Tizen. The video you gave there was a comment who seems to be has the same problem as mine. The installation always fail during BL process on cm.bin part.

Hi adfree,
Would you be able to forward me the AP, BL, and CSC the "combination firmware (to gain access to the watch to reset the lock)" file? I have a video of the procedure (see link below, if the forum will allow it) but no access to the files. Process, from what I understand, is to reset the lock to off by connecting to the watch via the watch's "hotspot" (AP) and sending some commands; then connect watch to home wifi and reflash the bios. BTW, I'm in the US.
Procedure is listed as for the S2 and S3 watches--I might be mistakenly assuming it will work for the GW...

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide,

Hello! This is my first post on any forum ever, so please be gentle.
Recently I dumpster dove behind a U.S. Cellular that had just gone out of business and I found this neat Samsung Galaxy S9 Live Demo phone. It was originally flashed with an SM-G960XU Firmware, but I wanted to de-demo mode it, so I thought I would flash an SM-G960U firmware on it instead.
This failed miserably and I now have the following error: "Security Error: This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software...". A picture of the error, as well as the other information I have been able to glean from the locked phone is attached.
Unfortunately, I knew nothing about androids before attempting to flash the phone, so I have no other data about the phone other than what is in the pictures.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much,
Oronto
Meh... you have a parts queen, less the mobo.
Demo unit should be missing the baseband chip hardware inside, so even if you could flash the stock firmware you would be limited to using it with wifi.
Apart from that, what happens if you try to flash again with odin? i would try flashing the precedent firmware G960XU

Hi effry,
Thank you for your response. I would love to reflash it with its original firmware but I can’t find it anywhere on the internet! I did not realize I was supposed to back up the firmware before flashing it which was quite the mistake. Do you happen to know where I might be able to find this firmware?
Thank you very much,
Oronto
Start from here and check the exact phone model with the IMEI, it is printed on the bottom of the back of the phone (use a strong light, it's a small and light text)
Check Samsung IMEI information in SamFw.com
You can check Samsung IMEI information like Model, Region. And you can choose the exact firmware
samfw.com
After that you can use the same site to search for the correct firmware , donwload it and flash it with Odin

Hi Blackhawk,
Thanks for the response. What do you mean by a parts queen? Do you mean I should sell it for parts on eBay?
Thanks,
Oronto

A hangar queen is the actual terminology. An aircraft used for donor parts to keep others flying.
The display, frame, battery, C port pcb, cam module should be good. The mobo is useless for use as a phone except as noted with wifi.
So if you have another phone of the same model... you now have an Android queen

Hi effry,
Thank you again! I input the model’s serial number into the website you linked and it returned that the firmware is SM-G960XZKUXAR. Unfortunately, that website doesn’t have the firmware that it tells me the phone is supposed to have. I checked elsewhere on the internet but I can’t seem to find it. Is there an obscure website you know of that might have it?
Alternatively, do you think it is possible that I could flash it with another equivalent firmware? If so, what might you suggest?
Thank you very much,
Oronto

Hi blackhawk,
Thank you for your insight into which parts seem useful for scrapping. It is looking like I might have to do that. Unfortunately, I do not have an equivalent model, so I will have to sell it for parts if it comes down to that.
Thanks again,
Oronto

By looking online it seems that flashing the firmware with odin should fix the issue. Maybe you did something wrong in the process? i would try another odin flash using this firmware

Hello again effry,
I tried your firmwares and bad things have happened. It got to where the download was almost finished and then it displayed this error. Unfortunately Smart Switch Emergency Software Recovery does not register it as connected.
I believe I am boned. Thoughts on this?
Thanks,
Oronto

You could just replace the motherboard from Ebay for around 50 bucks (USD). Make sure it's a regular unlocked version (both FRP and network), any carrier will do since you can cross flash any firmware of your choice (no need for the demo anymore). Just a heads up, demo units sometimes are missing some of the LTE antenna cables/connectors, which would prevent the good replacement main board from working on cellular.

Hi billa,
Thanks for the advice. I’ll look into it, but I might end up just selling it for parts.
Thanks,
