Android update on Android Car Radio unit? - Connected Car

Hi there,
Although I have this radio head unit for a few years, I'm not using my car much(52.000km in 6 years). I was wondering if there is any android development in my car unit
P.S. I'm stuck with android 4.4.2 and although it's stable it has a few minor bugs, sometimes it might freeze(rarely happened 3-4 times in 6 years) or black screen(2-3 times per 6 years)
Talked to the seller, well he pointed out that my unit is old nowadays so I should ditch it and just get a new one. Not sure what brand it is(probably some generic?) but it says "Model: S07"
EDIT: After a google search, I've found this: "https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3246386" so probably I'm lucky. A MOD can delete this

did you upgrade successfully of your android system ? If yes. that's great !
if not, there is another way for you . ask your supplier to update it and keep it stable.
You just need wireless CarPlay dongle. then you got carplay android auto mirror link for your radio screen.

Don't know if you already get your old one upgraded? if no, you may also think about getting an aftermarket Android radio, just search "best Android car radio" on google you may get many answers.Don't spend too much, $200 can get this thing done.

Hi, how are all of you out there?
Yeh, i am a socblue user. It is working fine well almost fine, it does not work via BT on my car sadly. There is an application to download an then you pair the device after loading the battery and inserting the 2 sims.
Really, it is a peace of cake when you read the instructions well. I did not the first time and could not pair the device. Standby time is a couple
of days now. (Bought it about 4 days ago) I think i am on 50 %. Stupid they made an apple plug only. i am using it one android an iphone.

that's wonderful news. so the android application works fine on our note. how about the battery of your note? since it must be connected all the time to socblue via bluetooth, how long does your galaxy note typically last in a day, with bluetooth on and always connected to socblue?
Where did you find the app ?
Can't fnd it in the market place.

the socblue app is not on marketplace. try searching google for the manual of socblue and you will see in the manual where it is supposed to be downloaded.
i have not yet purchased socblue, as i am still waiting for a review as to typical battery life of both the note and socblue, where socblue is connected to the phone continuously.

That sounds fishy, it's no problem for us to install whatever but this is retail product (and not a cheap one). Marketplace is the ueberstandard for installing and upgrading apps.

well not really. i believe marketplace imposes a charge (US$25 i think) for uploading an application, even if its free.
anyway, it's not really for me to say because i have not even purchased one yet.

:good:
i just downloaded the android app for socblue android here.
http://apt.fise.com.cn/android
i'm also planning to purchase one for myself to be used for my Note 10.1
Hi,
So sorry for my late response.
I now use the N7100. I sold my Note 1.
Sadly it won't function on my Note 2. I have been hours away trying to connect. I have mailed the sellers but no result.
Sad sad. So i took another step and bought a h7100. A chinese copy of the note 2 with dual sim. Briljant!!
Good luck, gues, with your socblue!!
do you think because N7100 is already running JB?
have to hold off my purchase then. is gmate+ better?
*update
just got myself a gmate+ instead of the socblue. paired it perfectly with the Note 10.1
unless you really need 2 extra sims, i would recommend gmate+.
btw, im not connected with the gmate company, just one happy customer.
=)
Hello yesterday I bought this one amazon.com/Quad-Standby-Adapter-Android-Phones/dp/B009EN28MM

[SEAT] Leon: Mark 3

Hi guys,
Hope I am not wrong in posting this thread, if I am then just remove it.
I have a SEAT Leon mark 3 and ever since I bought it the infotainment system has not once been updated in regards to software. It does have a software update section but it doesn't say anywhere to check for updates. I have tried google and cant find anything, any help please?
Thank you.
my gf "just" got a leon (2014 facelift) too, nice drive by the way.
why do you want to update anthing? i think updates will only be distributed if there is a really big error in the device/software ... and there will (in my experience) NEVER be new features for something they already sold ... buy a new car in 3 years is the deal here
by the way the speed recognition is a major pain as its extremely slow ... everything else is OK from what i can tell.

actually i meant to write *SPEECH* recognition instead of speed ... sorry for that
anyway yeah ive seen some VWs with friends & family, big/small nav-devices. never a really up-to-date functionality, CPU almost always too slow if you are used to a top smartphone/tablet ... but the units work for some good 10 years.
the future belongs to mirrorlink or whatsoever its called, smartphones are just faster and are being replaced at least every 2 years by the user.
cheers!
Hi guys, just a question about BT connection, probably It's the same on all BT system, I don't know, but why It's not possible to connect two devices (for example 2 smartphone) at the same time?
I have to switch and connect only one of them every time, It's a BT protocol or depends from SEAT software?
Thank you!

it is only possible to connect one (1) device at the same time.
i do not know if it is a BT protocol thing or just a restriction in the SEAT software, but it is the same with pretty much every headunit i know... (VW/AUDI/SKODA/SEAT, Mercedes, BMW, Alpine, Clarion, Pioneer...)
i guess it is like that because modern BT connections also get the phonebook and 2 simultaneuos connections would mix that up ...
in my opinion this makes perfect sense unless you really need 2 phone personally.
start thinking about a dual-sim-phone if you really need this.

Humm.. maybe!
The updates for the car radio is bringed by seat, but at the moment, seat no have updates.
Also, Seat is oferring a new model of radio card with mirror link
As a person who works in the automotive industry, I can only tell you that most, if not all updates are only possible in a service. On another note, updates rarely, if ever, bring new features.
So the only thing you could do is go to your local official VW service (or one where you know someone) and ask for an update. Be prepared to pay some good $$$ for getting a few (unnoticed) bugs squashed.
Here you can find the software updates for your 5F w w w.clubseatleon.n e t/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=118140, it's a spanish froum, use translator
well if anyone need i found a update for the mib 1 and the mib2 screens
it can update to version 480 for the mib 1 and 0330 for the mib 2
you can find the interstions and the files in the link below
have fun and thanks would be welcome

Random Question.
I updated my 5F0 MIB1 Unit to 480 in early January but since then my TMC Traffic hasn't worked - That's the "Traffic Button" it just contantly says "No Reports Found" but a guy 10 miles away receives loads.
Any quick fixes for this?

MTCB difference between kitkat and lollipop models

Hi guys,
I'm going to buy MTCB unit to my skoda and I have a problem to decide which model should I pick.
Joying is offering two units with exactly the same specs but different android os version, kitkat based unit is almost 40% cheaper.
I'm nexus user for years so I know differences between these os's well, IMO on car radio is not that relevant. Are there any noticeable advantages of LP model which make it worth additional costs?
Kitkat model: JY-VN130
Lollipop model: JY-VL130
I know that kitkat can't be upgraaded to lollipop so this decision will be final. I've checked all recent post on XDA and didn't find answer so I count on Your help guys
best regards!
Hi,
Currently investigating to replace a Parrot Asteroid. There is virtually no difference between Kitkat and Lollipop till you encounter an app that won't install on Kitkat. On Kitkat there is the Xposed framework that is mature and allows doing various interesting things. On Lollipop it is not that mature (if working). Never used Xposed actually.
Are you sure the units you mention are MTCB and not MTCD?
BR,
Jerome.
KitKat can be upgraded to Lollipop, I just did it two days ago. Go with the Joying KitKat version since it's cheaper, and just upgrade to 5.1 if you want to. That way you can try both and chose what you want. Xposed is working on 5.1 MTCB devices now.
Why wouldn't you buy an MTCD? That is the newer hardware that will be supported moving forward, and more likely to (hopefully) eventually have an SoM upgrade available.

Because MTCB/MTCC units have been around for longer and are more developed.
MTCB/MTCC also had SoM upgrades available in the past and there is no reason to suggest that they wont in future either, especially considering the recent news that the new MTCC units are nothing more than MTCB units with different MCU software - MTCC MCUs work on MTCB units and this suggests that MTCB/MTCC units wil still be developed by the manufacturers.

Ok, let me put it another way... when was the last time that Google did anything new for the Nexus 4?
MTCB is old news, dead, end of life.
MTCD is the replacement for it. This is what will be updated going forward.
If you buy an MTCB now, then you're going to be buying an MTCD to replace it shortly.
You can't think of chinese hardware in terms of "what if they might continue to support it?" -- they won't.

So wrong on so many counts, youve put 2 and 2 together and come up with 11.
Firstly pretty much ALL electronic hardware is Chinese, it may have a western or (non Chinese) Eastern badge on it, but it will originate from China (the iPhone for instance is designed and produced by a Chinese company in China, only the shell is designed by Crapple).
MTCB is indeed "old news" . . . because its been replaced by MTCC - MTCC is newer MCU firmware developed for MTCB units, which have now been re-named "MTCC" units and are STILL being produced, MTCD is not a replacement for MTCB/MTCC, they are being sold alongside each other.
In the smartphone market updates are complex and support for even leading brand phones is often dropped within a few years. Not so in the Android ICE market - MTCB units have been going for over 3 years and are STILL supported, hence the new MCU name - the units have gone from 4.2.2 to 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 and to 5.1.1, they have gone from dual to quad core and still have the possibility to be upgraded with a further SoM upgrade, few Android phones have this level of support and updates, NONE are capable of having their SoMs upgraded.
If MTCB was "dead and at the end of its life" do you think the manufacturers would bother to get the developers to develop new MCU firmware for it ? The very fact that the new MTCC update for MTCB units exists proves you are incorrect.

The difference is who owns the name and is taking responsibility (if any) for maintaining it.

So you have evidence of a current firmware update, that's far from a long term support promise.

The name and who owns it is totally irrelevant - these "no name" brands have been supported and developed (albeit sometimes not that well) for far longer than most "known" smartphone brands.

There were no promises of any support at all in the past, yet there has been for longer than most known brands (see above). It is not "a current firmware update" its a totally new name and version number for a previously existing MCU, if the units were "dead" updates would have simply stopped. Theyre, like gonna totally rename it, re-write the software and then drop it ? Yeah right.

See my previous posts - updates and suppport for 3 years (far more than named brands) - this is a "a very short time" is it ? MTCC units are supported and will continue to be supported.
I ve had several of these units in several vehicles over the last few years, I m in communication with at least one manufacturer and with other members who are in communication with other manufactures, I ve been following/contributing to threads on here about them for the best part of 3 years, I know far more about these units, their history, their foibles and their development that you can ever hope to know. You are wrong, your ideas are based on bigotted assumption, not fact and if you think they are "unsupported Chinese junk" then go away and stop wasting your time filling these forums with mis-information and rubbish. Oh and as MTCD units come from the same developers and manufacturers and use many of the same components, they must also be "unsupported Chinese junk" as well.
I am in contact with Klyde and have purchased over 30 of their units at different times. I noticed that they went to MTCD units and then dropped back to MTCC units.
When I queried why they stated "the MTCB/MTCC is a much more stable module, therefore they have ceased to retail the MTCD and have decided to revert back to the stable version" hence why a version of 5.1 was developed for the MTCB/MTCC module.

All MTCD units have Lollipop, but just cos a unit has L doesnt mean its MTCB/MTCC, you need to check the about screen and the wiki will also tell you how to identify units.

Ah, that is your problem, you do not have an MTCB/MTCC head unit, you have another type, try the "Android Auto General" forum, not the MTCB forums.

dasiata vs xtrons px6 new to android head units

hello, not new to android been modding for many years but this will be my first jump into a android head unit. this will be for my wife's car and she wants the dash to remain stock and anything wider then stock will partially or fully block the middle 2 main ac vents. so she limited me to the standard 7" screen size.
im looking at the max6 and one from xtrons px6 version which does not have the dsp chip but they offered me the chip if i buy the unit from them included.
im reading of some issues with the max6 here at xda and wanted to know if that is the norm with this model? and how is xtrons overall these days i was reading they were decent but those threads seem to be pretty old and i dont want to revive them. otherwise is there any specific model px6 7" unit anyone here can directly recc to me? any help would be appreciated. ive spent hours reading all sorts of threads but many of them are older threads now about px5 or px3 units.
also does anyone expect anything new from ces this year chip wise? though i dont know how many of these china companies show there. i sawe dasaita has in the past.
thanks!

I grabbed the xtrons tq709ipl because its got the px6, is known to be compatible with some roms here, and the price was better than dasiata's comparable px6. Like you mentioned the xtrons doesn't have a DSP, i'm not an audiophile so i don't really know about features I wont be able to judge. What I've read is that the chip in the xtrons even without a DSP is still "better" than most name brand head units out there. amazon is running a $20 coupon right now too (as of 2/19/202), so that was nice. Shipping from hong kong only took 3 days too somehow, so that was cool.
With either of them be prepared to modify the double-din dash kit if you need one for your car. The android head unit faceplates are a few mm larger than North American big brand units like pioneer, jvc, sony, etc.
Good news is I've read enough to conclude all px6 based units are essentially the same guts, and roms will generally work on any of them. So you should just decide: what faceplate you like better between the two, does the DSP really matter to you, and then look at cost and how quick you can get it!
Good luck!

I hope this is the right forum.

I apologize if not. I'm desperate for assistance and I hope someone can point me in the right direction. I recently purchased a Dasaita Vivid 10 on Amazon for my 2015 Camry. Few things:
After installation and turning it on, I wasn't presented with the first time user setup. Additionally, there were a few local MP3s on there. Specifically "Hotel California" from The Eagles. Is this normal or was I sold a used unit? The unit itself had the plastic on the screen. ZERO marks that it was used. Everything from my perception was brand new.
However, when I went to connect WiFi, I received the seemingly common error of it turning on and instantly back off again. As such, I did a factory reset. This erased all of the music that was on the device. This leads me to think that it shouldn't come with music...
Each time I turn my car on, the WiFi is a red X on the icon on the bottom right. To resolve this, I need to hctreboot the thing using factory settings. After this, it will work. However this really sucks and I don't want to do this every time I get into my car. Last night I changed the BT setting and I believe it may have fixed the wifi issue. However, this broke Bluetooth. When I loaded up a hardware info application, there was a mac address for WiFi but none for BT. Is there a way to know which module I have to select the right setting?
Can someone explain exactly what I can do to fix this? After searching for hours I am so lost with all of the terms. Vivid, Scout, MAX. I have no idea where to even get a firmware file. What does MTCD stand for? While it may be considered a budget radio, $530 bucks is a big chunk of change for a radio to be this unreliable. I wrote on Dasaita's forums and it looks like they couldn't care less to assist people. Frustrated, and I'd like help here before returning this and returning to the stock unit. I can provide pictures of anything if needed, just let me know!
Thank you all!
Welcome to the world of cheap Chinese origin Android head units and quality issues.
There is no first run, that is normal.
MTCD refers to a type of unit based on HCT design. There are a bunch of factories that produce these and a bunch of resellers, such as dasaita that sell them, applying made up brand names and model codes. Dasaita appear to price their units at a premium.
Suggest returning it for the hardware issue and look to an FYT based unit, which might get you closer to what you want.
I no longer recommend MTCD based units, and have since brought an FYT 7862UIS based device. The bugs are less, superior hardware, fantastic audio and works without all the mods/hacks.

Aww man, not the news I wanted to hear however it was expected. At this point I might just go back to stock. I really loved how the dasaita fit into my Camry as it looks super OEM and clean.
Do you know of any of the FYT units that look OEM for a 2015 Camry?
Is this FYT: https://www.joyingauto.com/joying-1...radio-replacement-2015-2017-android-auto.html
I have a 2017 Camry and have this head unit:
https://www.amazon.com/SYGAV-Android-Toyota-Carplay-Navigation/dp/B08PKZY28H/ref=sr_1_1
While it's not a FYT unit, I will tell you that it does not have Vivid installed on it and has worked quite well in my Camry for over a year now.
Would be happy to answer any questions about it. I posted a review on Amazon and have answered a few questions over on Amazon as well.

Thanks so much for this! If I can't get my Dasaita working correctly, I will absolutely return and get that one!
