Hi guys,
Hope I am not wrong in posting this thread, if I am then just remove it.
I have a SEAT Leon mark 3 and ever since I bought it the infotainment system has not once been updated in regards to software. It does have a software update section but it doesn't say anywhere to check for updates. I have tried google and cant find anything, any help please?
Thank you.
my gf "just" got a leon (2014 facelift) too, nice drive by the way.
why do you want to update anthing? i think updates will only be distributed if there is a really big error in the device/software ... and there will (in my experience) NEVER be new features for something they already sold ... buy a new car in 3 years is the deal here
by the way the speed recognition is a major pain as its extremely slow ... everything else is OK from what i can tell.

I don't know im that kind of person that always wants the latest stuff but i understand where you said it will update only if it is broken.. no worries and yes, brilliant drive.

actually i meant to write *SPEECH* recognition instead of speed ... sorry for that
anyway yeah ive seen some VWs with friends & family, big/small nav-devices. never a really up-to-date functionality, CPU almost always too slow if you are used to a top smartphone/tablet ... but the units work for some good 10 years.
the future belongs to mirrorlink or whatsoever its called, smartphones are just faster and are being replaced at least every 2 years by the user.
cheers!
Hi guys, just a question about BT connection, probably It's the same on all BT system, I don't know, but why It's not possible to connect two devices (for example 2 smartphone) at the same time?
I have to switch and connect only one of them every time, It's a BT protocol or depends from SEAT software?
Thank you!

it is only possible to connect one (1) device at the same time.
i do not know if it is a BT protocol thing or just a restriction in the SEAT software, but it is the same with pretty much every headunit i know... (VW/AUDI/SKODA/SEAT, Mercedes, BMW, Alpine, Clarion, Pioneer...)
i guess it is like that because modern BT connections also get the phonebook and 2 simultaneuos connections would mix that up ...
in my opinion this makes perfect sense unless you really need 2 phone personally.
start thinking about a dual-sim-phone if you really need this.

Humm.. maybe!
The updates for the car radio is bringed by seat, but at the moment, seat no have updates.
Also, Seat is oferring a new model of radio card with mirror link
As a person who works in the automotive industry, I can only tell you that most, if not all updates are only possible in a service. On another note, updates rarely, if ever, bring new features.
So the only thing you could do is go to your local official VW service (or one where you know someone) and ask for an update. Be prepared to pay some good $$$ for getting a few (unnoticed) bugs squashed.
Here you can find the software updates for your 5F w w w.clubseatleon.n e t/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=118140, it's a spanish froum, use translator
well if anyone need i found a update for the mib 1 and the mib2 screens
it can update to version 480 for the mib 1 and 0330 for the mib 2
you can find the interstions and the files in the link below
have fun and thanks would be welcome

Random Question.
I updated my 5F0 MIB1 Unit to 480 in early January but since then my TMC Traffic hasn't worked - That's the "Traffic Button" it just contantly says "No Reports Found" but a guy 10 miles away receives loads.
Any quick fixes for this?
Hello, can someone post that 480 SW file for download, all the old loinks are dead...

So the IIs's (what IS the plural of IIs??) arrived today so serious playi.... er ... product familiarisation has begun.
First off, the colour of the O2 version is very nice (I think the II is looking old fashioned already). The case is ok (I'm not a case fan, I prefer to just lug it around in my pocket).
The keyboard is probably far too fiddly to ever get used by my normal sized pinkies but the blue backlight means that it will look good next to my PS2 even without BT turned on!!!!
The software seems to be up to scratch too, they've even added a decent battery life monitor to the Active and Today screens (The Active screen actually seems fairly usefull this time round!). Not had much of a play with the additional software, apart from those that came with the latest Xda II ROM upgrade ("phone Alison" ....... why is it dialing Colin??), but the GPRS monitor is a welcome addition.
Now onto what, for me, is the most essential part - WiFi and Bluetooth. Let's not beat around the bush, the II was rubbish for both, only really with the latest ROM was the II capable of anything like decent performance with BT Headsets and still didn't support Handsfree. As for WiFi, I used a Sandisk SD card with my II and it was a pain to connect.
Whilst waiting for the release of the IIs we've been playing with iPaq 4150's which have great BT & WiFi tools that even our execs could use!
*WiFi*
Turned the phone on at home and it immediatly sniffed my network (Linksys router) and asking to connect prompted me for my encryption key followed by faultless connection to the internet. Exxxxcelent
*Bluetooth*
My boss had a Nokia CK-7W carkit fitted a few weeks ago, oh how we laughed when the latest II ROM still rendered the II useless in his car!!!! So it was with slight trepidation that we turned the ignition on only for the IIs to find/bond and work perfectly with the kit at first time of asking.
So all in all I'd say that O2 must have actually been listening to us after all (despite not updating the website FAQ's properly since the original Xda). We have a few very good contacts within O2 and had seen a fair amount of info prior to release and received assurances on the above functionality, but I have to say that I didn't believe it till I saw it all with my own eyes!!
Now for some serious testing to see if it's beauty goes further than skin deep

 similar experience when my friend was trying out the Fonix voice stuff on his XDA II. We were in stitches at his attempts to phone my mobile (with "Phone Dave Mobile") and it either not understanding or coming up with a suggestion which was hard to see why it thought it sounded like it. It even suggested a number for my friend's expletive of "Oh f**k this"
lol, fonix is hours of fun for all the family ........... cos it could ring any one of them when you're trying to phone your boss!
The next big test for the IIs will be the built in BT phone kit in the 5 series BMW, hopefully one of our directors will be around today to give it a go.
does the bluetooth in new XDA IIs support audio through your headset?
it would be great if it did, but i doubt it
WiFi / gprs bridging
Can the gprs internet connection be shared out through the WiFi? I'd like my notebook to see it as an access point and use it's network access. Never got this to work with xdaII bluetooth and my powerbook, Apple's BT stack doesn't recognize the widcomm bt "server".
I'll buy one tomorrow if it can bridge the 802.11 and the gprs!
Audio through your headset? not sure what you're wanting it to do here but I'll list the options on the BT new connection Wizard
Hands-free/Headset Setup
ActiveSync
Browse Files on a remote device
Connect to a network
Join a personal network
Exchange Business Cards
Explore a Bluetooth device
As for sharing the GPRS connection via WiFi, it may be possible if you set the connection on the Xda to NOT connect to the internet, otherwise the WiFi settings seem to overide GPRS. Sorry not much help! Couldn't you link them up with BT instead?
GOOD NEWS though
Successfully paired up the IIs with a BMW X5's built in BT phone stuff so it's another tick in the box for O2
Can you hear your MP3's or tomtom voice through your bluetooth headset?
no

Hi there
great report
just a quick question..........I have been ringing o2 daily to enquire about the arrival and keep getting told that it is 'next week'........where did you get your unit from ?? I tried o2 Salisbury on Thursday and they told me that they hadn't received a release date yet !!
cheers!
The phone is out at o2 now, has been since late Thursday evening. It will not be in the stores until Wed/Thu next week.
just call up and order it. I did
Could somebody with the XDAIIs please post the extended Rom files.

I would also need them... please
I ordered ours through our dedicated o2 business team at the beginning of the week, as our commodity manager sent us the product code when the launch got delayed (internal pakaging problems!). The advantages of working for a big company with a corporate o2 deal!
Price wise we don't do so well on hardware, prob cos we pay next to nothing for line rental, I think they were 350 gbp each (ever noticed how u don't pay as much attention when it's not your money?), all "in contract upgrades". I'll double check when I get to work.
Anyhoo, a big box arrived on Thurs and opening it revealed 11 cool gadgets! Still waiting for the accessories to be released though.
I'll check for the cab file later.

Unlock extRom using the unlock tool attached.
reset device
Browse to the extended rom from your desktop computer and copy the files - zip them up and post them here.
is extended rom unlocker the same for Himalaya and Blue Angel?
It unhides both, but it doesn't unlock the Blue Angel. But you can copy the files out of the extROM once you can see them.

Supposedly use of the stereo jack aggravates the problem. I see this a lot in Europe and very little in the US. So far.

Yeah it would be helpful if you post saying you are having an issue if you would also say what version of the phone you have. US or UK or whatever else is out there.
Seems mostly like there are two hardware versions, but I could be wrong.
i am not buying this phone until I get more info on this problem. many people on the net have this problem.
less than a week of ownership and no issues so far

Honestly I only see the reboot on the non-US Motorola forum: three or four people in the UK. They are claiming it's related to loss of 3G?
i think it has something to do with specific SIM cards (3n or 5n). theres more info on the german forum of android-hilfe.de

Where are you? I'm hoping they'll replace mine as opposed to sending it off to get it repaired.
How long have you had the new one?
Less than a week and no issues as of yet. I have had two random reboots so far but both were when my battery was under ten percent. Only issue I've had this far is battery life but I think its in part to me running launcher pro and not rooting yet, and the fact I use my phone ALOT. Overall I'm happy though, so much so that I will pay full price for a second one for the wife!
I am in Germany. They wanted to send it in for repairs first but i had them exchange it on the spot. The second one is on it's first week now. Didn't play around with the headset but am calling myself every now and then to check if the earpiece still works
Must say it's a little worrying reading about this issue. I guess the advice ought to be to simply avoid using the headphones socket! Out of the question for some perhaps, but I would point out that bluetooth headphones/headsets are actually very affordable now. £20-£30 gets a fairly good pair of headphones, which will render this issue kinda harmless (if usage of the socket is indeed the culprit). Plus, who wants cables trailing out of their mobile phone anyway? Unless you absolutely need to use the onboard FM radio, you may as well just leave the 3.5mm socket alone, especially if there's a risk of breaking the earpiece speaker.
Despite this minor issue, I think the Defy is an awesome android phone, and highly recommended. Perhaps in the coming weeks Motorola will acknowledge this problem and sort it out completely - fixing the jack properly for future production, and maybe offering free bluetooth headphones to those who've bought a Defy with this weak socket/earpiece speaker issue (well it would only be fair, certainly cheaper than furnishing all early customers with new Defys... or would that seem to be a far-fetched dream? - help me out, I've no experience with Motorola's aftersales support! Lets hope they feel obliged to do the right thing for all of us who've decided to go for something a little different to the iphone/bberry/htc crowd)

I love the phone too, but we shouldn't have to work around problems like this. What's the point in having a jack if you can't use it?
Except I believe the radio (FM) will not work unless earphones are physically inserted because they act as antenna.

I had one as acessory to my galaxy tab... Every thing worked as expected... For a while.. What happens is that android droppes the connection in sleep.. So you havto reconnect the lv all the time. This makes it useless... It died after three months... Just would not wake up any more... And i could not find the receipt, so no replacement....
However i dont know if they fixed the reconnect issue... This was six months ago...

Hi,
I have one from amazon.de for about €25. I have played with it for 2 or 3 weeks but then I have bored. Disconnection issue is very annoying. You can use a program for it (for $0.99) and it can fix a lot of disconnection issues but not totally. I wanted to be noticed for calls, messages with it but it haven't worked as I expect...
There are 2 or more topics here about it, you can search but it is a little disappointment for me...
Hope this helps.
Bought one a couple of months ago, played with it 20 minutes then putted it back in its box.
After reading your post, I gave another try and...it works like a charm with the soft available on the Market. Mp3 player (stock samsung) control is ok, sms, incoming calls... I do not use FB or Twitter, so don't know if it's ok with this.
I do not have issue with connection (maybe because I played just 20 minutes again)

guys any conformation whether it works with the note?
It works on my Note (running Criskelo's LPY), except for any external plug-ins. Thats seems to be an ICS problem of the SE software for Android.
You also 'need' LiveView Manager ($$) to keep it up-to-date after your Note disconnects to save energy. Remark: it polls, so it's not really 'live'.
And you're right, it's on sale and a nice gadget.
Sony has a firmware update for the little thing when you install their Update Service Software and you put it in dowload mode.
So anybody else tried this on the note and updated the software sothat it does not disconnect looks good and would be handy for my work if it worked the way they say and amazon has it for £20 if its the same thing also notice that sony has a liveview 2 coming soon dropped the Ericsson
I have the orginal smart watch and its works fine with ICS LPY (non rooted) on my note and the watch is fully up to date.
It does drop connection now and again if you dont use it for a while. Its still no perfect but it works ok for me.

Well, I've moved on to the GNex and according to the spec sheet, it has the BT 4.0. However, it never receved the SW to support it. The BT 4.0 devices just wouldn't work with it... Some did however, but only via BT 2.x... There had been enormous work done to enable 4.0 and now it can be enabled.
The best way to go about your purcuse is to ask the sailsmen to tryout the device and try to pair it with your phone. If it works, buy it, if not, skip it

Hi guys,
my question is: what are your preferred methods to cut off the AFTV power or stop talking to amazon in standby.
does there exist a method for software switch off? I dont want to run device all over the day, when i dont use them. This is a very stupid feature of the AFTV. 2W standby consumtion is a nogo in my opinion. hold the internet connection for software updates, is not servicable, its stupid a feature.
what is the intent of amazon to do that? the inoffical way i mean. the official reason, the software updates, are so rare to quote this as a reason to let it switch on all over the day.

Not sure where you're at and what the rates are, but with 8¢ per kwhr, you're looking at $1.40 per year if it was in standby all the time.
If you want a surefire way to block the power, pull the plug. It doesn't take too long to boot up and will keep 95¢ or so in your pocket that would have gone to the utility.
If the internet access is the issue, block access through your router during nonused hours. Is easy with dd-wrt or any of the other flavors.

hi t3ch42,
I live in germany and here the actual rate is round about 27 EuroCent/kWh.... and the amazon firetv is not the only device which is in standby all over the day in my HiFi-Rack. but it is the device with the most power consumption in "standby". 2W in standby is a 10 years ago standard. now 0,1W to 0,5W is a good value an standard.
the AFTV standby is not really a standby so my question is, can this destroy the AFTV when i switch it off that hard way?
I am searching for good things in the AFTV..... but i can only find bad things. I am just about to sell it. pity

Hi,
I live in Germany as well and I am using one of these: http://www.amazon.de/mumbi-Funkstec...60214&sr=8-1&keywords=steckdose+fernbedienung
It works well and when I leave the room, I just hit the "off" button and all my devices in my HiFi-Rack are off. The AFTV is working fine so far, so I guess it doesn't do no harm to it.

What does that mean lol?
You cant "destroy" the aftv just by switching it off. I simply pull the plug when ive finished using.
As long as you aren't flashing anything or messing with system files it cant do any harm.
Well that is a little steeper than the US cost. I guess I've been numbed down by console standby power costs to be honest. 2W is a whole lot less than the xbox 360 or the PS3's standby power, so I've been pretty impressed.
What DEREKTROTTER said is true though. Unless you've mounted system files as rw and are mucking around there or flashing, there isnt a problem with pulling the plug.
As far as good things about the firetv, with it rooted, it does most of what I want right now. I think its one of the better devices to come around for a while.
Hoping you find a decent solution for your problem though.

here a short list because of what iam unhappy with it:
- I hoped it is possible to root my german edition..... and get out of the amazon tentacles....
- a BIIIG fault is the missing 24p... its a media player.... whats going on the in the brains of the engineers.....
- there is no of switch....

yes... the root.... i hoped that the working on a root possibilty is faster, because of the big hype about that product. You are right, I knew it before i bought. In germany we say: "hope dies last" :crying:
my xbmc plays also everything... thats not the problem... its the way how it plays.
HERE (24p problem) my other thread were we talking about it.
And HERE you kann see that iam not the only one with this problems

Hi,
I live in Germany as well and I am using one of these: http://www.amazon.de/mumbi-Funkstec...60214&sr=8-1&keywords=steckdose+fernbedienung
It works well and when I leave the room, I just hit the "off" button and all my devices in my HiFi-Rack are off. The AFTV is working fine so far, so I guess it doesn't do no harm to it.

some of these draw 1-2 W itself, so there is probably no real saving

I connected my AFTV, my TV, my sat receiver, my 5.1 receiver, my NAS, my active subwoofer and my Playstation to it. So there is real saving
