Need help updating to Oreo Please ! - Samsung Galaxy S7 Active Questions & Answers

Hi guys, I'm currently on 6.0.1 Marshmallow and I want to update to Oreo 8.1, I'm on Baseband G891AUCU2APK2 ON AN att s7 active, I've found info on updating to Oreo here but I honestly can't understand the instructions, I have experience flashing before, I remember updating to Nougat and rooting a long time ago when it was still unstable, so I went back to Marshmallow, but now I can't remember the procedure, do I first need to be on Nougat or can I go straight from 6.0.1 to Oreo ? Can someone help me out with a step by step or give me links for a noob ? I have the drivers installed on my pc and odin as well, please help guys I would really appreciate it ! PD: I don't care about rooting, I just wanna be on the latest stock Oreo, thnx !!

I'm not surprise that your post been ignored. If you can't search or you can't see posts about update in forum, and is there so many them about how to update, i think you should stay with firmware you have on your phone.
i just tried to update to nougat from ojj1 and i cant go back to 5.1.1 if you are not in the usa and you cant connect to an att network leave your phone as it is.

First Time Rooting my TAB SM-T705

Good afternoon Dear Xda Members:
It is my first time in this kind of forums so excuse me if I ask something wrong; I considered myself in these matters as "a rookie"
I will try to explain my case:
Months ago I updated the firmware of the TAB to T705XXU1CPI4 (Android 6.0.1) automaticatly via official android release (OTA).
My problem is when I try to root my TAB with the app KingRoot it not worked; I read rooting is not possible if the firmware was updated as I mentioned before.
Some online recomendations say that I must update my TAB again with the same firmware, but I fear that I can damage my Tab If I re-install again the same firmeware through ODIN 3.
Could you please tell my if is correct to follow these way to continue rooting my Tab ?
I really would apreciate your kind help
Regards

AT&T Note 5 Marshmallow update

Hi there,
First of all, this is an awesome knowledge base. Congrats.
Secondly: I'm new in XDA town - so please have some indulgence if I make any mistakes. In addition, English is not my first language.
Back to topic. A couple of days ago, I bought an AT&T branded Note 5 N920A with Lollipop 5.1.1.
I would like to flash it to Nougat. As far as I understand, I have to flash it to Marshmallow first. The recent software version on the phone is N920AUCS2APE3.
From my understanding, I need a dedicated update package from N920AUCS2APE3 to N920AUCU2BPE6. Everything is nicely described in this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/at...ow-to-manually-update-to-marshmallow-t3380624
but unfortunately the links are dead.
What is still not clear to me is, whether or not any (=any AT&T) other update package would work too. I found a download for the Marshmallow N920AUCU2BPE6 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/at.../n920a-mm-odin-package-n920aucu2bpe6-t3415938) but I don't want to spend hours to try this out and then have to roll back to N920AUCS2APE3 because of a soft bricked phone.
I couldn't find any dedicated N920AUCS2APE3-to-N920AUCU2BPE6-file. Is there still any possibility to get this update done?
Cheers

No you don't have to flash Marshmallows first if you want to go to Nougat. You can use this thread to go strait to Nougat 7.0 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=71977275
