turn on airplane mode, turn wifi on and I get when i try to place a call "turn off airplane mode or connect to a wireless network to make a call"
Provider is Safelink. They gave me a t-moble sim card. Already registered e911 and the link that ask for ime said my sim was wifi ready and was turned on.
Everything looks good, but I can't get wifi calling to work. Safelink customer service is useless. They cant answer if they provide wifi calling, they answer with if the phone supports it, and tell me to download a wifi app.
Tried messing around in router settings, with opening ports and ip address and enabling qos on and off. Still nothing.
Really no one can help wtf?
Anyone can suggest cheap EST usa cell service provider that offers wifi calling that works with mi a2 lite?

Try it like this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78596219&postcount=24
Didn't work. Followed that thread and have tried everything mentioned. Says turn off airplane or connect to Wireless network.
Turned off airplane mode says. Connect to Wireless network network.
Connect to my wifi. Tried both 5g and 2.4 networks.
Browsing internet, gaming downloading through wifi connection is fine.

I have no T-Mobile tower reception at work, and was looking forward to the wifi calling capability to come to the rescue with this new phone/service. Unfortunately, my work wifi requires a proxy-serverort for browser connection, and once I update the wireless connection with these settings - I am able to browse fine.
Regardless of the wireless signal strength, the WiFi Calling status states : Poor WiFi signal, before timing out with REG99 error - unable to connect. I have also noticed on this phone and the HTC EVO 4G, that while on wifi at work, my download speeds (via speednet) are high (>10mbps), but nothing shows up in the upload section.
Given the above, and knowledgeable of the fact that my corporate network does shut down access to other ports - is there any workaround to enable wifi calling behind a proxied network? I have even tried to add a new APN to include the proxyort to no avail.
wifi calling from the home network works without any issues, and yes i am rooted.
TIA for any help.
Found the solution. Turns out that accessing the proxied wireless network was the root cause of the issue. We also have access to a guest network, that interestingly does not require a proxy connection to the outside world, and that works perfectly fine!
Still unanswered then, is what ports does this phone require that are being blocked by the proxy server?
I would also like to know the answer to this. I do not have access to another wifi server to test this. What is weird though is that my Sensation that I just got rid of had no issues with wifi calling on the same network, explain that!
Hey guys , just wondering if anyone knows how to activate wifi calling , my wifi provisions is on in phone settings along with volte provisions (*#*#4636#*#*) and also wifi calling is turned on in actual device setting advanced (wifi preferences ) but for some reason when in airplane mode with wifi on i am unable to make calls , as i get a message when a call has been dialed ,saying turn off airplane mode or connect to wireless network, although i do have wifi enabled and am connected, Just wonder if anyone has advice or help , im running latest aquarios and snoke kernal and i am on Telus network , i guess just wondering if it is something that has to activated through my service provider to work or if it's possible to work just straight out of the box within the rom settings

You are correct. Your carrier has to support wifi calling before it'll work properly on your device :good:

Darn , i was afraid of that ... lol thank you for the link Badger and getting back to me
Hi there,
I am trying to use WiFi Calling on my H8324. The thing is, it works but only temporarily.
When I start the phone with a fresh firmware update (or simply flash some oem_*.sin files for instance), the phone switches to WiFi calling even before it recognizes a network (which is a good thing). When I then go into airplane mode, I'm able to make and receive calls via WiFi without issues.
However, if I deactivate the WiFi mode and as soon as the phone registers with a network, WiFi Calling seems to go away and there is no way to bring it back. I've tried to reboot, disable / enable the sim, disable / enable the WiFi Calling option, tried to use only some specific network modes etc. The only way to bring WiFi calling temporarily back is to reflash firmware parts.
I have to add that I'm trying to make that work using a German blau.de sim card (O2/E-Plus network) in Canada. So I'm roaming and that's exactly the reason I would like to use WiFi Calling.
Does anyone have ideas how to solve that? Or maybe as a workaround: Is there a way to disable network registration for only one sim card? (I have the dual sim version and I'm using a Canadian SIM too). I can't use airplane mode activated all the time.
Thanks!
Update: Alright, I've found a workaround for anyone who might be in the same situation. WiFi Calling Sim must be SIM 2. Before registering with the network, activate the airplane mode, then activate WiFi. Now WiFi Calling should be working. Now go to Service menu *#*#4646#*#* and activate mobile radio manually. Now you have a working SIM1 and a SIM2 in Wifi Calling Mode.
I still need to figure it why this has to be done but so far this is a working solution. Unfortunately you won't see any notification icon for the data/voice connection for SIM 1.
Hi to everybody!
In Xiaomi Note 8T WiFi calling is successfully enabled. However seems that priority on cellular network is given.
When phone is put on flight mode and WiFi is enabled, WiFi calling is activated and calls operated with success.
Is it possible to set WiFi calling at 1st priority instead of the cellular network, even when the cellular connection is active, with fair signal?
Thank you in advance.
Best Regards,
Petros
I have terrible cell signal at home, so rely on wifi calling to make my phone function as, well, a phone. However, recently something has changed where WiFi calling no longer appears to work even though I have it enabled. Actually, that's not strictly true, it works, but only randomly and seems to not be available the majority of the time.
Previously, as I could often get 1 bar of signal, what I would do is enable airplane mode, then turn wifi back on to get wifi calling working. However, this no longer works. I have reset network settings, re-enabled and registered Wifi calling, checked with my provider that Wifi calling is available, used the Samsung Band Selection app to set to prefer using Wifi calling over cell data. I'm sure there are other things I have tried, ultimately, nothing seems to work.
Wifi speeds are good, I'm at the end of my rope with it.
It's a Sprint (T-Mobile) phone, still on a Sprint SIM here, spent an hour with support yesterday and they basically had me repeat everything I have already tried before telling me they will have to escalate it.
Anyone else having issues? Any idea what to do?
Thanks.
Not sure if this will help, but you might want to look into what port wifi calling uses and make a port forwarding entry in your modem. I just remember long ago when tmobile had their TM-AC1900 router, something about it having certain ports open to allow for wifi calling. This was before they released their 4g lye personal cellspots.....this was a wifi cellspot

These may help.....
P.s i have Xfinity for home internet and tmobile for a carrier.....my wifi calling has been weird at times out of the home while connected to Xfinity hotspots......and long story short, now that Xfinity has their own cell service they may be crippling ports....just a thought....manually forwarding those wifi calling ports should fix that if that's the case....
