Hi to everybody!
In Xiaomi Note 8T WiFi calling is successfully enabled. However seems that priority on cellular network is given.
When phone is put on flight mode and WiFi is enabled, WiFi calling is activated and calls operated with success.
Is it possible to set WiFi calling at 1st priority instead of the cellular network, even when the cellular connection is active, with fair signal?
Thank you in advance.
Best Regards,
Petros

Searched for other threads but didn't find anything that specifically addressed this. It's probably old news to many but I hope this helps out other noobs.
In Galaxy S2, enable wifi-calling and you can change the connection preferences to
1. Wifi preferred
2. Cellular preferred
3. Wifi-only.
Options 1 and 2 are self-explanatory, but I didn't quite understand why anyone would want to select 3 over 1, until I tried it out.
When I selected wifi-only, the cellular voice signal bars are dark. I think this setting essentially disable cellular voice radio.
This is important if you travel abroad and want to use the wifi calling feature because wifi-calling cannot be enabled with airplane mode on. Also I don't think wifi-calling works with a non t-mobile sim card.
I'm on Wifi-Preferred and my radio is always disabled automatically

It is possible to configure the Wi-Fi Calling Application to enable calls over Wi-Fi only, essentially keeping the phone off the cellular network. If you set the Connection Preference to Wi-Fi ONLY, the application will work over Wi-Fi and, when you go out of range of a Wi-Fi signal, will NOT accept or make calls on the cellular network. This is similar to putting the phone into AIRPLANE mode with Wi-Fi Calling.

Hey guys , just wondering if anyone knows how to activate wifi calling , my wifi provisions is on in phone settings along with volte provisions (*#*#4636#*#*) and also wifi calling is turned on in actual device setting advanced (wifi preferences ) but for some reason when in airplane mode with wifi on i am unable to make calls , as i get a message when a call has been dialed ,saying turn off airplane mode or connect to wireless network, although i do have wifi enabled and am connected, Just wonder if anyone has advice or help , im running latest aquarios and snoke kernal and i am on Telus network , i guess just wondering if it is something that has to activated through my service provider to work or if it's possible to work just straight out of the box within the rom settings

You are correct. Your carrier has to support wifi calling before it'll work properly on your device :good:

Darn , i was afraid of that ... lol thank you for the link Badger and getting back to me
I have a metroPCS unlocked Snapdragon S9, and I have my WiFi calling set to cellular preferred, but my WiFi calling keeps turning itself on and off all the time. I like WiFi calling and find it useful, but I have had problems with latency and poor call quality, so I don't want to use WiFi calling unless the cellular network isn't available. But my phone just keeps turning WiFi calling on and off by itself when I have the preference set to use the cellular network by default. I get excellent reception at home and most places I go to, so I don't understand why WiFi calling is on when I have it set to use the cell network by default.
Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know a solution short of disabling WiFi calling entirely?
android pie
magisk installed
voenabler installed
volte provisioned checked in phone info
wifi calling provisioned checked in phone info
wifi calling on in googlephone settings.
IMS status

voice over lte - unavailable
voice over wifi - unavailable
turn on airplane mode, turn wifi on and I get when i try to place a call "turn off airplane mode or connect to a wireless network to make a call"
Provider is Safelink. They gave me a t-moble sim card. Already registered e911 and the link that ask for ime said my sim was wifi ready and was turned on.
Everything looks good, but I can't get wifi calling to work. Safelink customer service is useless. They cant answer if they provide wifi calling, they answer with if the phone supports it, and tell me to download a wifi app.
Tried messing around in router settings, with opening ports and ip address and enabling qos on and off. Still nothing.
Really no one can help wtf?
Anyone can suggest cheap EST usa cell service provider that offers wifi calling that works with mi a2 lite?

Try it like this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78596219&postcount=24
Didn't work. Followed that thread and have tried everything mentioned. Says turn off airplane or connect to Wireless network.
Turned off airplane mode says. Connect to Wireless network network.
Connect to my wifi. Tried both 5g and 2.4 networks.
Browsing internet, gaming downloading through wifi connection is fine.
Hello everyone!
I have a quick question about wifi calling, I used to have a samsung s7 and when i had wifi calling it would stay enabled even if there's no internet connection (ie- connecting to a hotspot and having to login before there's an active internet connection) But on my LG G7 android 9.0 T-mobile variant, with that same scenario my LG G7 would disable wifi calling completely and I have to manually turn it on every single time I connect.
I only can because this is pretty tedious, I live in a very low cellular reception place and I rely a lot on wifi calling. There's times where I'm hopping between wifi and i have to enable it every single time, like 3 to 5 times a day. I was wondering if there's any way I can prevent it from happening.
TL;DR: Wifi calling - can I keep it enabled even if there's no internet connection and it would just activate once there is an actual connection?
