Hello xda. I have installed a performance tweaking app called L speed . I have config it and it claims to make performance better. However I am noticing lag spikes I have not noticed before. Is it the app? I will provide a log if needed running Lineage 8.1

It should be the app as it is closing are recently apps and other systems apps which cause this problem. by uninstall the app it going to fix the problem.

it will only force close apps if you tell it to do so, this option should be in the ram management. as for your question: your performance will depend on how you configure L Speed, if you generally set it for minimum battery consumption then it will decrease system performance in order to make the battery last longer (due to less consumption), but if you want maximum performance then you configure it accordingly, you'll see a possible decrease in battery life but your phone will most likely be sped up significantly.

Hi all,
Anyone experience lag in the dialer when switching tabs (usually the first time changing from Dial tab to Call Log/Contacts) ?
Try This!!!

There may be background running apps causing this lag. Clear recent apps try.. U can also reboot the device to close unnecessary background running apps...
Yes absolutely right.
Its the only place where m phone lags by switching the tabs.
there are basically 2 places where you can force the phone to either end processes associated with apps when the app is closed or limit running background processes. Have you used either of those options? If so, this is what is likely causing the lag. If not....? So if you used the developer options menu to limit background then go ahead and put it back to default. If you used the other way to limit processes of specific apps then unchecked the couple that have to do with the dialer and let those run free.

Clearing recent app will not solve the problem, android system know how to do it the best way.
I asked if anyone else having this problem because I did some major system customization and I can't remember if this problem was before my changes. I don't have time to debug it.

I know the android memory management. if it needs memory for foreground apps it frees up some memory by killing the background process. The lag is mostly because of the busy processor. sometimes apps like whatsapp and viber who have push notifications work in background as demons. This processes may use up the clock cycles and henceforth contribute to the lag while switching tabs etc. A higher priority process such as games will force the system to give up most of the CPU time to the game app and hence they DO NOT LAG. Sometimes they may lag when u receive a text message in background. This is because the SMS and calls have higher priority. Killing the background apps which may be using up CPU cycles will not only give a lag free operation but also a good battery life. that is why you swipe up the apps from the recent apps tray.
I'm not talking about memory because i know how android handles the memory..
Yup, that LG dialer is one idiotic piece of software that I hate about this phone. The stock ROM otherwise is surprisingly fluid. But dialer................less I say the better. The backspace delay is intolerable.
I dont know if this is issue with completely stock system or not as frankly i never ran this phone stock. I am running V4 stock based ROM. This issue was not there on any CM based ROMs. Specific to stock based rom.
Does enable this option help save battery life? as the process is suspended once user quits it. We all know some roguewares would keep themselves active even though not running forground and draining tons of battery.
Unless you are trying to debug an app do not enable this.
It's for developers trying to develop and debug their applications behavior.
MAYBE if u have rogue app installed it may help JUST for that app. But that's a BIG maybe. And then it could cause other apps to have to relaod constantly which will DEMOLISH battery AND performance due to higher CPU usage.

I usually choose close all acitive applications upon finish using the phone, so I guess this option would do this automatically for me? I've found if I leave certain apps active my battery drains way faster.

The developer setting for kill all apps upon exit is NOT the same as clearing recents. It isn't doing the same thing.
Which apps by the way would you say are "staying active" ?
You can check to see if it is those apps specifically that are causing drain by using apps like Gsam battery monitor (my personal choice due to its user friendliness) or better battery stats app. In Gsam battery monitor you can open the app usage section to see exactly which apps used esactly how much battery/CPU wakelocks/time held awake/background CPU vs. foreground CPU/ etc....
I would say that MAYBE for a very specific type of usage that this option may help in battery life. But it without a doubt will eventual degrade performance, due to more CPU cylces needed to fully open an app from scratch vs having it cached in ram. The setting is for sure meant for developers trying to debug their applications behavior and not meant for users to get better battery or performance. If it WAS meant for those, it would have been enabled by default. It will surely mess up multitasking, which is what android is really all about. TRUE multi tasking with apps running in background. So that is what would really depend on your usage I would think.

I think this usage suit my usage very well, I use my phone briefly for calling, maybe very rarely webbrowsing, or sometimes wechat, so I want an app to stop completely once I finished using it since I probably won't open it again in 3,4 days.... I am not those smartphone addicts that's constantly playing their devices.
I only use webbrowser when I was outside and need to lookup an address... no, I don't even use facebook.

Hi guys, when I switch my phone to n3n from sony xperia p at that time n3n was best in that price range, and I am very satisfied with it, but now days so many devices in very low price running very smooth than n3n, and we are wait more than year for 5.0, we know there will be no update of android 6.0 for this device, so is there any way to improve speed of n3n, because now I am using “note rom” witch is 5.1.1, but still launcher feel laggy, opening app take time (some games and app for vr take up to 30 to 40 sec.), lock screen lag , as thi srom is rooted I have remove some system app and services to free more ram but still not working, so please let me know is there any way to solve this problem.
try to install an app called "L Speed" it will maintain your device and improve the rom speed.
In addition, you can flash a kernel which was posted in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...nel-n7505-vd80m-kernel-lolllipop-5-1-t3356049
I installed note rom with that kernel and L speed app and the phone is very smooth.

thank i have download this app notice little diff in speed and scrolling but battery drain very quick, before this app i am getting battery backup of 1.5 or 2 days, but now just 1 or sometime have to charge twice in day,so i remove this app, and the kernel in the link is removed, there is v2 of kernel but some bug reported buy user.

They've just updated the app with battery fixes.
Actually it's a project of XDA in this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/tweak-l-speed-v1-0-02-02-2015-t3020138
For kernel I had no issue with first version. Second one only for 7505 so I haven't tried yet.
I have been using the SM-A505G for almost 2 weeks now. However, I feel that the general performance/smoothness is not good always.
I see many occasional stutters throughout the day and the phone is not as responsive as I would have liked it to be always. Slight stutter are present, and sometimes small things like keyboard would open 1 second later, or swiping from one home screen to another is not smooth many times, or some other minor delays like that. I tried the Samsung One UI launcher and also the Rootless Launcher, but had similar experience on both. I had been using a Nexus6p so far with custom roms, and while this phone is much faster than that, I am not sure if these performance stutters are expected on devices in this price range. Can anyone else share their experience?
I am not playing any games or running many apps on my device as well and am more of a casual user.
Have you tried to use the reduce animations setting in Advanced features? It helps a bit.
Stock keyboard or 3rd party? Using swift key has been quite smooth.
The phone is sluggish especially when showing call screen etc but in general haven't noticed majority of the symptoms you posted.
I'm also coming from Nexus6 with a custom roms and I agree that this phone has been a godsend so far in terms of speed.
Have you thought about rooting it and then install some sort of cpu manager? I know the cpu isn't going to perform like and SD 845 or anything but maybe if u change the governor you could see better performance in day-to-day usage?

Of course they are not expected. Those lags are from bad software optimization i.e dialer in my case

Hoping that's something which Samsung will fix then. Not sure how their track record is on non flagship devices.

Yeah I am trying with some changes to see what works. I switched to lawnchair launcher v2. Seems to be smoother than the others so far. The call screen/dialer is slow for me too.

I can go that route later in the life cycle of the phone assuming it supports all that, but this is not something I really wanted to do in the first year itself.
Can anyone tell me a fix for this android 10 ram management fix? The phone can't keep hold of more than two apps in the background. Need everyday Restart and Performance in not quite good...

Not sure if you're open to flashing a custom ROM, but I had this same issue and switched to HavocOS. My phone has an uptime of 450+ hours at this moment and performance is quite good. Battery life is comparable to stock.

Could be also affect by corresponding "Developer options ON">APPS>Background process limit>choose. Check it.
I had never this problem with stock android 10/One/Q.
