Improve speed of our n3n - Galaxy Note 3 Neo Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, when I switch my phone to n3n from sony xperia p at that time n3n was best in that price range, and I am very satisfied with it, but now days so many devices in very low price running very smooth than n3n, and we are wait more than year for 5.0, we know there will be no update of android 6.0 for this device, so is there any way to improve speed of n3n, because now I am using “note rom” witch is 5.1.1, but still launcher feel laggy, opening app take time (some games and app for vr take up to 30 to 40 sec.), lock screen lag , as thi srom is rooted I have remove some system app and services to free more ram but still not working, so please let me know is there any way to solve this problem.

try to install an app called "L Speed" it will maintain your device and improve the rom speed.
In addition, you can flash a kernel which was posted in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...nel-n7505-vd80m-kernel-lolllipop-5-1-t3356049
I installed note rom with that kernel and L speed app and the phone is very smooth.

They've just updated the app with battery fixes.
Actually it's a project of XDA in this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/tweak-l-speed-v1-0-02-02-2015-t3020138
For kernel I had no issue with first version. Second one only for 7505 so I haven't tried yet.

[Q] My xperia play can run the games smoothly only right after reboot

I usually play Fifa 12 with my xplay. it run so smooth but only when I reboot the phone before I play the game. So when I play Fifa12 during the day, There is so much lag and slowdown, Even with Hard gaming mode of ram manager pro and use fast reboot app before I play the game. on the other hand, if I reboot my phone. Every game run so smooth and I don't need to change to hard gaming mode in ram manager pro.
Any suggestion ?
ps. Sorry for my english
Because your system is probably using more ram in the middle of the day, after a reboot your system uses alot less & slowly increases, you should uninstall unused apps & close unwanted services & maybe use Advanced Task Killer (From The Play Store)

I had tried advance task killer to kill any task that show on screen. But the result is the same, the game (Fifa12) is still laging so much. Cannot be compared with its performance when reboot.
why on earth still people hold on to Task Killers when tons of reliable articles already prove they are useless and do more harm than good? oh good god
Android booster. Frees ram, actually freezes apps not kills them, saves battery. The problem is your ram is being used up. Easy fix though!
Uninstall the task killer if you are using one and let Android manage the apps on your phone by itself.

I tried it this morning. It look like just another task killer, and the result is no change, the game is still lag after I hit optimize button.
V6 Supercharger. That worked for me, phone getting snappier.

really ? Is it more effective than ram manager pro ? So, which option in v6 do you choose for you xplay ? I will try it to night and test for 1-2 days. Then I will back to report the result.

hey wheres the link to the v6 supercharger ...... I need this .....
I use v6 supercharger, the kernel script they have and the die hard battery script both work great and I can go 17hrs with heavy use with gaming!

i have the same problem , it runs great after a reboot and gets slower. I installed v6 supercharge which made the homescreen blazing fast , but the games still lag after sometime. I even set a widget for "engine flush" , which may or may not help , im not sure.
Im using die hard launcher and super ledded 512hp
V6 Supercharger settings ?
Hi,
First thread I read so far where people are mentioning they use V6Supercharger on XPeria Play.
I have a question :
Do you use V6 Supercharger on the stock 2.3.4 Sony-Ericsson ROM or are you applying it on a custom ROM ?
If on the stock ROM, what settings are you putting in ?
I ask before I tried to apply V6 Supercharger on my R800i under Stock SE ROM without success.
Frozen boot screen of death...
Had to recover through ClockWorkMod. Thanks ClockWorkMod !
Thanks for your feedback !
Hi there,
As nobody answered my call so far, I come back to give feedback on my own experience.
I tried again to install the V6Supercharger Script and manage to get through this time.
The first time, I guess I simply did not wait enough time.
In fact, I had to wait like almost 10 minutes on the Sony-Ericson XPeria logo (after the boot animation) before my phone came back to life.
It can be quite stressful !
After that, I went through the pin code entry screen and found out some of my widgets did not properly load and some applications were not showing up.
Therefore, I rebooted and everything went fine on the second time. All the apps showed up properly (only mixed up in the scrolling app section).
Launching the script again, it confirmed my phone was 100% supercharged with the following settings :
- DieHard launcher
- Rock&Roll Kernel
- Miscellaneous tweaks and 3G enhancement installed
- 512HP setting with V6 CustOOMizer option
- Minfrees set at 8, 12, 40, 47, 55 and 62MB
with 367MB of Ram (is this correct for the XPlay ?).
This was applied on the Sony Ericsson stock ROM 2.3.4 and the stock Kernel.
The first impression was that the scrolling between various home displays was faster.
I started Dead Trigger, running correctly (maybe just a bit slower, not sure) and when I exited the game, I had almost no Redraw time to wait.
Before V6 Supercharger, I used to wait around 5 seconds before all the icons were there again and I could scroll.
This time, the icons were right there and the scrolling hesitated for maybe 1 second but got super smooth again right after that.
Ok, this is to share my experience with you, guys.
No idea if anyone has experience on the XPlay ? Maybe using other settings ?
As there is a clear note that this script is not intended for heavy gamers, it tends to indicate it should not be really used on the XPlay, mainly used by heavy gamers.
What is your opinion on that ?
Cheers,

[Q] How do you deal with lag?

Ok i really hate to say it and i know we all experienced this one time or another but, the HTC one v lags A LOT. It has its ups and sometimes is fast, but overall it's starting to really affect the whole experience. I've tried a lot of roms before and the problem is always there, even if i o/c or use scripts and stuff. But im not here to complain, i just want to know how you guys deal with lag, if any.

Tbh I don't have any lags man. Maybe you just use/install too many apps? I use Greenify app to freeze unused apps and generally that's it. What kind of lags do you experience?

Just general lag every now and then. I also use greenify. But i think its because of all my apps that i have. On my old optimus v i had hundreds of apps and now i have to make sure to keep them low on the one v. Honestly the lag isn't all that bad, im really just curious as to how other people config there phones and what stuff they use.

You will need greenify paid ver(root) to freeze more apps, free ver doesn't freeze all.
Stock rom is a no go, you expected to be lag a lot. Custom rom is much smoother.

I disabled greenify and it is still working smoothly. However I don't have loads of apps installed but still, ONE V releases free RAM memory when it's needed, keeping most of tasks running. So for example when you need that extra memory for some action, it will free it by for example closing an app when it decides to do so.

Greenify free ver is just a kid. It only works for user apps, no system apps. The goal of greenify isn't memory managment, you are talking about somethings else like SuperCharged V6 script(I'm using it too).
One of the main problem on android is there are lots of app like to start itself even you aren't needed or do not run/call them out, they just come out random and waste your cpu/ram/battery a lot, install SystemPanel Lite on Google Play and check it period by yourself. Greenify is to stop these kinds of action completely and paid ver does 90% of its job.

For the performance and battery friendly, I highly suggest you to try out this new rom Sense 4 Canadian KOODO(with SuperCharge V6), it got both advantages, really smoother than many other custom roms.
However, greenify donate ver is still a must on all roms. I also recommend you to install CrossBreeder 5.21 ver(only old ver is stable) on xda and remember to change the wake to 16 from 256 default, it is a script to fix android UI lag. Since 512MB ram isn't enough, you could give SuperCharge V6 memory management script a try as well.
I have used all stuffs above personally and my One V now is much more useable. Don't overclock much, some phones or kernel don't do good in overclocking.

I have not used any SuperCharged V6 script, did it come along with my myONEv ROM? If not, is it a big upgrade if I flash it? I think I'll consider buying Greenify full version as you said, this is going to help a lot. However still, I am not experiencing any lags yet(fresh system).
Just curious, what settings do you guys use for the paid greenify? And btw im on rhytmic rom 4.2.2

There is no extra settings in donate ver, the only different is allows you to freeze a lot more apps which doesn't support in the free ver but you have to install xposed installer and enable both free/donate in it and reboot.

No, only Sense 4 Canadian KOODO comes with SuperCharge V6 but you can install it on myONEv rom. I'm using it on mySENSE 3.5 rom pretty much identical to yours but with full sense, it works nearly perfect with my rom/kernel fixed most of the memory problem. It doesn't give you God mode but provides a very constant/stable speed environment and hence, increased overall user experiences with the spend of a little bit battery(I think it actually uses me 20% battery more, not sure if my settings go wrong).
So..... if you don't encounter any memory shortage problem during multi-tasking, you might not need it, try it yourself. It ate me 40~50mb free memory but I think it just need some space to do management or caching, or again it might be my settings problem sololy. There are too much of tweaking options in this script. If you want a speed hack, you should try CrossBreeder script(5.21 build with wake16) instead, it does speed up your UI responsive and in my experiences, it saved me around 20% battery as well.

Ultimate Jar Power Tools
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252297&highlight=supercharger
The installation guide
Actually, the installation procedure isn't that hard but I just don't understand why they can write/explain it in 10 pages length with some crazy English and made me sat in front of monitor for an hour to read all stuffs.
1. I use adb shell(via windows7 command prompt)
2. Type adb shell and then sh /sdcard/supercharger/V6* <-- just put the script in /sdcard/supercharger
3. Pretty much it will go through the process itself in command prompt but just ask you to select some settings(with description so don't worry)
4. At the end, it will ask you to install Ultimate Jar Power Tools manually before continue.
5. The file after download appear to be Ultimatic_Jar_Patcher_Tools_RC6_ALL_DEX_Windows.exe.zip and I rename it to U.exe by myself in command prompt and double click it to run it in windows. Remember to put ALL_ROMS_Ultimate_Jar_Power_Tools-Smali_Patcher_RC9.sh in the same folder/directory.
6. The U.exe will auto-launch a command prompt out in your windows and start to pull the services.jar off your phone and patch it and push it back to your phone and phone will auto-reboot. That's it.
7. Now, you can go back V6 script to continue the setup. Type adb shell and then sh /sdcard/supercharger/V6* again, this time it will skip the installation menu but give you a config menu instead. You can change or enable/disable all settings here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18703418&postcount=5021
1. If you have some dated library in phone, you can update them with SuperCharger_Starter_Kit_RC12.zip. Extract it into your sdcard, use Smanager(script manager on play store) to run StartMeUp.sh, remember to click on the root(su icon) before run.
2. If your kernel or rom either one doesn't support init.d(script auto-run during boot). If you have this problem, your supercharge option menu will tell you at 50% level probably, not 100%. You will need to use smanager to click the /data/99supercharger.sh as run on boot and remember to click on the root(su icon) too. Click save and exit and reboot.
This is all the steps in short, I think my guide actually is the best....hehe

Which do you also suggest to freeze? I freezed only recently opened which I don't want to be running. Not used any from the "show more apps" thing. (talking about paid version now) Btw thank you for your detailed instruction about the scripts, I'll get to it one day when I feel my phone gets laggy.
One more thing, any battery tips? Dunno if it's just my feeling but today it drained a lot more than yesterday with no big difference in usage I guess.

Some process/app like to come out in background sliently without tell you or ask your permission. You'll need to use SystemPanel Lite to keep checking periodly to find out which is bad, or you can use "show more apps" to freeze all of them. Just make sure don't freeze chat apps(Hangout, Whatsapp, Skype) and some important process/app like HTC connect to PC(USB Mass Storage mode), Bluetooth service, Setcpu, MyTask(or else no one could ring you maybe), Message(SMS).
Try to wipe the cache and d-cache partition and sometimes One V battery percentage/report isn't that accurate. Or try uninstall greenify if it conflicts with your rom?
Well, crossbreeder and supercharge they are free script and easy installation in mind. In my opinion, no reason not to give them a shoot. No lagging and fast, remember there is a big different. Supercharge I believe it's not useful anymore for new phones got 1GB+ ram but to the 384/512MB/768MB is still helpful. Crossbreeder got reporting good on even all new smartphones with S4 Dual/Quad CPU.

This is the 5.21.13 uninstaller link.
I would like to introduce one more stuff in this thread. Though Supercharged V6 is great but used more battery and too complicated for beginner.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36794328#post36794328
That developer also has a small Kernel tweaking script with a bit memory management called KiskAssKerneler, it doesn't drain battery but works good, my system is also faster and memory management better alone with this script. For whose who want improvement but thought supercharge v6 is too complex, try this out.
EDIT: KickAss actually also used more battery but just might not be as much as V6. I would prefer to stick with V6 for more true performance.
I find that installing titanium backup and setting a schedule to clear system cache then reboot helps a ton with making it faster. I usually set this for 5-6 am in the morning when im asleep but you can change it to whatever time you want. I also set it to run everyday rather than every other day. I also recommend crossbreader, it helps a bunch!
To deal with lag I flashed Crossbreeder, OC'ed to 1.4GHz set zRam to 10%, set KSM, enabled purge assets, enabled 16-bit transparency, set SIO as I/O scheduler and Lionheart as CPU governor. I still get lag while multitasking but now is a good everyday phone.
Its gonna help a bit as there is no huge amount of data required to read over and over again. Not worth deleting music. Slightly noticable effect.

[Q] Improving Performance?

Just curious if anyone else is getting extremely slow performance? I'm running CM10.1 and it is slow -- one of the last stable builds.
I've found that I can't have Hangouts + Facebook or Hangouts + Chrome open at the same time. It'll take ages to load something, so I end up having to force close everything pretty often. And my phone's battery is getting worse and worse in terms of performance
Have been debating what the cause could be. I have a TON of music on my external_sd -- wondering if maybe Android is constantly scanning it and it's slow/losing battery from that. The media scanning icon is not up, though. Could be the ROM? Have been debating dropping back to using a deodexed/debloated stock ROM. Wondering if maybe the battery is just naturally degrading -- I've had the phone for ALMOST one year. Wondering if it's the issue with just having 1GB of RAM on the device?
Any thoughts from anyone on improving performance? I would love to be able to go to work without having to charge the phone. I can go for about 8 hours at work (sometimes listening to music, sometimes not) and by the time I'm home, my phone is anywhere from 10-20%.

as I know media scan only runs after boot.
Most of android devices has less then 1 giga ram, I don think you need more. You can enable comcache. settings -> performance -> memory management -> zram , it needs kernel support.
zram compresses memory.
My 4.3 roms dont have zram support.
Factory reset always win. You should try latest cm10.2, I think 4.3 faster.

Factory reset always win. You should try latest cm10.2, I think 4.3 faster.

Wait, so the newest pacman doesn't have zram support? Is in the settings though.

Zram and other improvements
Hello, good afternoon to all
First, sorry to revive an old post, but i can't post in dev zone.
I am currently improving the performance of my i927.
I installed the kernel "LiteKernel" (V4.0-20130113 ICS) but I have some doubts. For example, how I can enable zram? How I can make a small OC the GPU?
I would appreciate some more advice.
Stock ICS 4.0.4 ROM UCLJ3 with LiteKernel ICS V4.0-20130113
Thanks a lot!
Try with trickster mod

zRam activated and working, and see that GPU is on 400mHz always
But i was thinking in app like Android Tuner that can set a boot profile... because i have to enable zRam every boot
Any idea? any other improvement?
THANKS!
EDIT: Now i see the option that i can set a profile when boot with trickster mod!! thanks again!

Performance boost mod for ANY ROM [Scary performances]

I owned an gs2 b4 and used this mod its great performance booster.
It will work almost any phone and any rom(tested on nexus4 cm11 with similar hardware as zl and gs2 cm11)
ART Compatible (tested on nexus 4 )
It is not tested on xperia zl thats why i m sharing this but most probably it should work.
Plz do the backup before flashing because
I am only sharing this work i dont own this project
So sorry to say but i will not be able to answer any queries
Flash it at your own risk but it should work
Here you go with download link!
Improved gold edition
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2360670
Reverse Mod:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43543566&postcount=62
Instructions:
Download the mod for your repective rom (download cm version for custom roms) from link!
1.flash it via cwm
2.wipe cache and dalvik
3.while rebooting system it will ask "disable recovery flash?" select "yes"
4.and there you go!
Note
If you select No in "disable recovery flash?" you will face problems in booting in recovery
If something messes up
Nothing to worry just do a clean wipe (data cache and system) and install your previous rom.(thats why a backup is recommended )
but most probably it will work.(recommended)
OR you can use reverse mod in the link provided

Tested on PAC Rom nightlies.
Adaway stops working after that and ads show up in several apps.
Speeds up system ui animations and everything seems to be smoother.
But no impact on benchmark scores.
Also, battery seems to drain faster.
Maybe it has a better effect on stock version..

In my case I've got 70 more points in Antutu Benchmark and no faster battery drain.
Besides that, I totally agree with you.
Edit:
Found a "fix" for AdAway not working.
or use
su -c /system/etc/CrossBreeder/DISABLE_ADBLOCK

I found that command in here

ACTUALLY THE MOD IS MENT TO DECREASE BATTERY USAGE for me it doesnt drain
Ok tested on cm11 and well... Doesn't make much difference... Few tweaks it enables is decrease the animation speed to .5x in developer options.... And allow plurging of assets in performance
Apart from that it does apply some minfree tweaks but in neither the benchmarks nor in normal usage do I see a change...
So yea I can't say it helps much in cm based roms where we could tweak the performance settings anyway... Maybe good for stock roms
Thanks for the share anyway

From my experiences on many different phone models and OS's and different methods tried, it might be good in short terms usage, but on the long run, benchmarks boosting leads to sluggish and buggy phone...

no i have been using this in my s2 since a long time until i bought zl it worked fine and benchmark is not boosted to a very high level maximus 200 it depends on the rom and it reduces lagginess

Yup it will but not much..
And to be honest.. Don't go for benchmarks ..
its all done quite easily as these boosters basically set ur cpu to performance mode whenever a fullscreen app runs.... That's it... If you look into it ull see most oems do that as well.. So u always get better benchmarks on stock roms as compared to aosp based roms.

i agree with you actually benchmarks arent that reliable for s2 it showed 200 but for many users its significantly negligibe.actually in the shared link its mentioned to increase benchmark thats why i had written "improve benchmarks"in title.rRemoved it now nomore quarrels about benchmarks!
Flashed the golden edition now and it gives me +480 Antutu points.
The fix for AdAway also works, thanks for that !
System ui responds fast and smooth. Will test it the following days and report back.

Guys the performance boost(If you feel benchmarks only show you the performance) comes from an increase in I/O score. Can anyone check that. I used to use such scripts on my galaxy 3 which atleast to some degree made me think the lag was gone . I don't think our phone needs such scripts. Our phone is already the fastest it can be and it's the fastest any phone can get right now . It can only be improved on by having better android( like an improved kernel?). Our phone has 2 gigs of RAM and do you think we need a minfree scipt for that? lol . That's the reason no one makes "scripts" for top tier phones. And those who feel the performance has been boosted check the CPU score differences in antutu, not the overall score which includes I/O too.

We do need the scripts buddy for our phones with unstable and laggy custom roms though our phones are good they arent the BEST !THIS IS JUST A WAY TO MAKE IT BETTER.if you feel so try it on ur phone.i personally dont go and rely on benchmarks

Is L speed making moto g5 lag?

Hello xda. I have installed a performance tweaking app called L speed . I have config it and it claims to make performance better. However I am noticing lag spikes I have not noticed before. Is it the app? I will provide a log if needed running Lineage 8.1

It should be the app as it is closing are recently apps and other systems apps which cause this problem. by uninstall the app it going to fix the problem.

it will only force close apps if you tell it to do so, this option should be in the ram management. as for your question: your performance will depend on how you configure L Speed, if you generally set it for minimum battery consumption then it will decrease system performance in order to make the battery last longer (due to less consumption), but if you want maximum performance then you configure it accordingly, you'll see a possible decrease in battery life but your phone will most likely be sped up significantly.
