Is there a way for Mi A2 Lite to be Widevine L1 certified? I realized that I can't stream HD content on netflix because of this.
Maybe u could use tv or monitor instead?
I don't really watch NF Series or Movies on phone.
But if there is demand, you could surely get also that support.
Yes i would watch them on tablet. But anything below 10inches screen, is really not watchable.
I almost can't watch NF Series or Movies 42inch tv, without proper sound system, (that has Dts support)
But i can do it almost on stereo sound. (tv speakers excluded)
Never thought it would come to this but nowadays I watch some shows on the phone while waiting for my kid and it's ok. Resolution does not bother me on such a small screen. Of course a good movie needs to be on TV (43" btw quite enough for me).
If your TV does not have NF app then I suggest buying a Chromecast or a certified Android box.
Unfortunately, the low resolution bothers me. Also, I subscribed for an HD plan and yet I cannot watch HD shows. I do have chromecast though but I rarely watch NF on TV.
I heard Xiaomi is starting the support for Widevine L1 on Pocophone. I hope they will consider Mi A2 Lite, and other devices as well.
It will never happen.

I have an HDX 8.9 which replaced a 7" HD recently. The only thing I missed was the HDMI output on the HD, as I used it to connect to hotel room TV's when traveling. I also used it frequently to connect to my home TV to watch amazon prime movies etc. I needed a way to replace this function on the HDX.
I have a Chromecast which works well with my android phone, but has very limited utility on the HDX (it won't display mirror, nor can you cast amazon prime videos with it) The Netgear PTV-3000 was what I figured I would have to go with, but the price and the setup issues reported caused me to look around for alternatives. I am happy to report I found a great solution.
The Tronsmart T-1000 is about the same price (less actually) that the Chromecast device and 1/2 the price of the Netgear. The install is straight forward, very similar to the steps used to get a Chromecast up and running. The manual that comes with the device is a bit confusing, but there is a great walkthrough at http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.php/2014/01/04/how-to-connect-kindle-fire-hdx-to-tronsmart-t1000/#.UtlNwbQo5Ea that made the setup simple on the HDX.
On my home wireless network there was no noticeable lag on games, and no lip sync issues on prime video, including 720p and 1080p content. I was very surprised how fast the device processed HD video. The latest update included compression on the wifi stream so that is probably the reason for the speed. I didn't see any video artifacts introduced due to the compression. Updates are OTA for both the application and the device firmware. This is a one click update within the EZ-Cast app. The vendor seems to update the app and firmware regularly, so this looks like it will have great support going forward.
I was able to bring the HDX about 30 feet away from the Tronsmart dongle before I started to see the video skip and stutter. This was through an interior wall as well, so line of sight distance is probably better than that.
The reviews on Amazon are fairly good, most issues seem to be related to particular devices with older versions of Android, or older versions of the firmware. You can read them here: http://amazon.com/Tronsmart-T1000-Mirror2TV-Wireless-Compatible/dp/B00H2D3N0M
I highly recommend you check out this device if you have an HDX and want to enable the display mirroring feature.
Hi, I try to keep my old 4: 3 tube working with a fire tv. For this I use an HDMI 2 AV converter, because the tube does not. have hdmi The image quality quite well. Only problem is the image format/aspect ratio. The content is streched over the whole screen. In 16: 9 movies the top and bottom black bars are missing and 4: 3 series are shown as a square withe black bars left and right. Looks a little bit strange on a 4:3-tv . Does anyone have any idea or experience, whether you can change this somehow? On the old tv itself is not possible.
Purchase of a new current TVs in this case is incidentally not an option because it is an heirloom of my wife's grandmother. Must therefore not be proposed.
Thanks
They say it's cheaper to keep her, understood. Use old tv as tv stand for New tv. Problem solved. Far easier for Jesus to. Feed many with bread and fish than to get good viewing on old tv.

It still doesn't allow a 4:3 aspect ratio. 720p or 480p is going to look just as wonky as 1080p.
a device like this might work for you. I have one working on an old boob tube with a Logitech Revue. Picture is adequate but your mileage may vary.

Hi, I've allready solved the problem. I've showed my wife, how unsharp the old tube is compared to the lcd of my notebook. That was the missing argument to convince her, that a new tv is the far better solution . Therefor I got with rp201's suggestion but without the tv-stand .
@tekweezle: thats exactly the device I use to get the fire tv to my old tv.
Hi, I'm thinking to buy that phone, I use a lot vr headset (only for the movies) any owner of the phone try it? From my understanding if I play movie it will have 4k resolution, but what if I play the same movie in program like vr cinema, it's still will be 4k or 1080p?

I have the Google cardboard and I did play around with it for a few minutes. I couldn't find a vr app that actually played the one 4k video that I downloaded so I couldn't really test it.
And I haven't really tested a standard 1080 screen with the cardboard so I can't really tell you the differences.
I don't think they've got the youtube app to support 4k yet aswell so at the moment the support for the 4k screen is kinda poor.
But the phone display is something else I'd recommend the phone for this reason.
Considering buying this phone as my G Flex 2 has started bootlooping :-<
The main thing putting me off is the fact the phone isn't DLNA certified. I use my phone a lot to stream video to television and with the Flex 2 it was just a case of opening the video in the default LG Player, selecting the wireless icon, selecting the TV or device and it would play from the phone (and can be controlled from the TV). How is the process on this phone? I want something stable that won't randomly disconnect whilst watching a film sent from it.
Concerned the phone won't be as quick in general considering I'm coming from a snapdragon 810, will it be noticeable?

Probably 625 is as fast as a 810
Just bought an Amazon Fire Stick and am loving it. Very cool devices.
I'm having a problem with it presently. My TV is 1080 capable. I know this because I can hook my computer up via HDMI and get a 1080 image.
However, the Firestick insists that I can only use 720p. It even displays 1080p as an option for me to select, but if I select it it won't work.
My HDTV is a Panasonic from 2007. I get the impression there's some sort of piracy protection mechanism blocking me from a full HD experience.
What gives and how can I trick it into a full HD experience?
Edit: TV is a Panasonic PT-52LCX16-B
