Redmi Note 5 Pro Bricked - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Questions & Answers

Folks,
Running into a brick wall trying to fix my dad's Redmi Note 5 pro. He has a locked phone which was never tampered with(no unlock bootloader, no root, no twrp) According to him, upon getting an automatic update pushed to the phone, the phone is now in bootloop and won't load the OS. I'm not sure which steps I should even start with to restore the phone
Would appreciate any feedback or support in this matter
Thank You

Happy Holidays..

Here In The U.S... We Are Celebrating Xmas Eve As Of This Writing...
What You Need To Do Is.. Hold down the Vol-Up Button as you turn the device on.. or, as it loops on..
That should take you to recovery... where you can do a "Factory Reset"
That should resolve your issue. :good:

I tried following your steps but I do not see an option for factory reset in the recovery mode. In the main menu, it only gives me the option for Reboot, Wipe Data, Connect with MI Assistant.
am I missing something?

appreciate your help. That seemed to do the trick. The phone was at least able to get into boot state. Its just frustrating that an official update would end up soft bricking the device.
Thanks again

Can someone please help me

I was trying to update my phone and something most likely went wrong. Then the update installed and screwed up my phone. When I turned it on it stayed on the startup for so long. I tried to clear cache through the bootloader, but now it shows the android screen of death except it flashes. This occurs even outside the bootloader.
I am rooted with stock os.
Thanks in advance to whoever helps

Hey, thanks for the response.
Could you please elaborate on how I would do this. Because I do not understand how to do this if the bootloader doesn't work.
Thanks, your response and input means alot
Take the firmware from Asus website, for me I took UL-Z00A-WW-2.19.40.22-user.zip
Boot the phone in bootloader and try to go in the recovery screen, it took me a lot of tries to get in it!!!
From here you can select "insall update from ADB"
From your PC you do a "adb sideload UL-Z00A-WW-2.19.40.22-user.zip"

That's normal. When you get the error sign when booting into stock recovery, hold power down and press volume up and quickly release both buttons at the same time. If done correctly recovery menu will pop up and then you can start actually flashing.
Flashing
does this still work if the screen is flashing, because I tried before and it did not work, maybe I pressed it wrong or there is some other issue.
Thanks

i wiped all internal data for install a new rom via TWRP but this new rom doesn't exist XD
Okay, so you wiped all data. Then what, you tried to flash new rom via ADB?
just reboot to twrp by holding vol up and power. when you see the lg logo release power and press and hold it again. Then a screen asking to factory reset comes up. say yes and yes, then you are in twrp. Connect phone to computer and enable mtp mode so your computer see the phone. You can then transfer another rom to phone to flash.

Wiping even with internal data checked doesn't wipe twrp...you will have to use button combo to boot as another user suggested...hold vol down+power and when screen comes on release only power then quickly repress power...do not release volume...many people are giving instructions from g2/3 which are slightly different than g4...i have accidentally done this myself...trust me twrp won't overwrite itself it's still there

With phone off. Hold bottom vom down and plug usb connected from pc to phone. That will force download mode. If so, go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/guide-lg-g4-stock-firmware-to-stock-kdz-t3107848

Then you did more than you stated you did because i have erased all in twrp including internal storage and had only to do the button combo to get twrp going and send rom file from pc...retrace your steps and make sure you give as much info as possible and maybe someone can help...but none of the things you mentioned would have touched custom recovery...nevermind it seems you fixed it...enjoy
haha this i have done 3 days after buyed my G4 xD
i was so happy that a KDZ exist... Flashed and well done xD

Stuck on "Google" screen

I was using my phone like I usually do, and then it suddenly froze. So I held down the power button, forcing it to restart. Ever since, the screen only shows "Google" for a while, then becomes blank; no booting animation. It would restart itself occasionally.
I tried booting into recovery mode by holding Power+VolDown, and selecting "recovery mode". For the first few tries, it would go back to the Google screen, the turn blank. After giving it a break and trying again, I finally got to the "no command" screen, and I wiped the cache partition. Sadly, I'm still having the same problem.
Is this a bootloop? How can I fix this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This happened to me and Google sent a replacement phone. However the replacement phone is a refurbished phone that suffers from ghost touches Now trying to get a replacement for the replacement.

So are you saying that I should factory reset my phone from the recovery menu, or do I have to use the method that requires the factory image?
My phone wasn't rooted btw, so I can't re-root it.

The bootloader allows the phone to be unlocked to flash custom ROMs on it, without it unlocked you'll brick your phone. Read up about rooting your phone first so you can get the idea of what goes into it before attempting it. Once you get the general idea of unlocking the phone and flashing things on it, it becomes relatively easy. There's even a nexus root toolkit on this forum that you can download on your computer for free as well as "how-to's" for doing it

Wait...what?? So if I choose to factory reset my phone now without unlocking the bootloader, it might become completely useless? Is rooting necessary?

No is not necessary, but in order to re flash the factory image to fix the problem the bootloader must be unlocked. You never have to root your device but having a unlocked bootloader is essential to flashing anything on your device other wise like I said, you'll brick your phone. You can even lock it back to full stock once you've re flashed the image.
Edit: there's another way of flashing the factory image but it requires some searching. You might not be able to do it the way I'm explaining to you Because you would have to give it permission to be unlocked in the developers option while the phone is booted up and operative

When u first bought your phone and it takes you through the set up window, when it asked you to put in your email, that right there backs up all your apps that you previously had in the phone so when you go through the setup again, it's going to ask you if you want to start as a new phone or recover your previous apps. You won't be able to recover all of your data but you should be able to recover all of your apps.

Help! I think it died!!

So I was scrolling through some Magisk Modules and I think I installed the wrong one by not paying attention, as I installed it I couldn't stop the process and either way I was screwed, afterwards it showed up in the "Modules" section and I hit the trash can and rebooted. Afterwards the phone does not boot and cannot get to the recovery.
Can one of you good people give me steps to when I get to my computer. please and thank you!!

If your bootloader is unlocked, while phone is booting press power button for 7-8 seconds or more this will restart your phone, when you see the black screen press vol down button to enter fastboot mode.
After fastboot mode you can flash stock rom with mi flash

No you don't have to relock. You can use it as like that.
You should keep bootloader unlocked always in my opinion. It's not a bad or dangereous thing.

prepare mi flash with rom and everything so you just have to enter fastboot and quickly plug in usb then start flashing.
Fastboot maybe just quits automatic if there is no input?

Yes you right at that point but fastboot hasnt a timer
He should flash quickly.
Or using sideload method will be a good way to flash pixel experience and after that, turn to stock

regardless of the input but that was because i had the wrong drivers

Xiaomi Stuck in MI logo data backup needed

Hi all;
I writing to ask if I can get support from you in order to recover data from my phone. This is the situation I have a Xiaomi 10T 5G device that 4 days ago suddenly reboot and get stuck on MI logo screen. I have try entering in Recovery mode and test Reboot, Safe Mode and Repair Mode with no luck. I have try also to connect it to MIPC suit but the phone get not detected, only if I put it in fastboot mode I got a message from PC suite telling that I should change to Normal mode and reconnect.
I have installed ADB drivers and my usb drivers of my device.
The issue and before sending it back for reparation I want to backup the photos, all the other data is not relevant. The phone is with the fabric ROM. Is there any way that I can recover the data??
Thanks in advance for your support.

I assume is blocked as nothing g has been done to it since the purchase.
That happened to me twice. I was pushing it to recovery, fastboot, safemode for over and hour untill it turned on. It was after update last spring. Never happened again. I cant remember what happened (i know i realized it than, but i was on a business trip and pissed, just remember that prior to that it was a problem with unlocking it/power button/sensor, maybe not the same thing as you have, since it was looping),i think it was some bug
Hi thanks for the reply but I assume is not the same case as I have try to fastboot, safe mode and repair mode a lot of times and nothing happened.
Hope to find a way to get the data from the device.

it may be stuck in some kind of recovery loop because it crashed and think it couldn't boot. like windows does.
try turn it completely off then start it.
I'm sorry if you did not unlock before hand, there is nothing you can do.
flashing rom requires unlocked bootloader. running TWRP requires unlocked bootloader.
flashing stock rom/ recovery rom from SD will I think wipe your data
unlock bootloader will wipe your data.
if you can't get it to boot you are SoL for the data friend :/
Thanks Sir. Seen that there is no option I have wipe all the data and the phone has come back again to normal operation. Now I will try to root to use some data recovery tool to see what I can get. Any recomendations??
