I was trying to update my phone and something most likely went wrong. Then the update installed and screwed up my phone. When I turned it on it stayed on the startup for so long. I tried to clear cache through the bootloader, but now it shows the android screen of death except it flashes. This occurs even outside the bootloader.
I am rooted with stock os.
Thanks in advance to whoever helps

Hey, thanks for the response.
Could you please elaborate on how I would do this. Because I do not understand how to do this if the bootloader doesn't work.
Thanks, your response and input means alot
Take the firmware from Asus website, for me I took UL-Z00A-WW-2.19.40.22-user.zip
Boot the phone in bootloader and try to go in the recovery screen, it took me a lot of tries to get in it!!!
From here you can select "insall update from ADB"
From your PC you do a "adb sideload UL-Z00A-WW-2.19.40.22-user.zip"

That's normal. When you get the error sign when booting into stock recovery, hold power down and press volume up and quickly release both buttons at the same time. If done correctly recovery menu will pop up and then you can start actually flashing.
Flashing
does this still work if the screen is flashing, because I tried before and it did not work, maybe I pressed it wrong or there is some other issue.
Thanks

Is your phone rooted?
Hold up volumne and hit the power button and the same time.
Then when the menu appears, hit the power button while "reboot" is highlighted.
Nothing much to it usually

do you mean the bootloader menu? i get 4 options:
fastboot
recovery
clear storage
simlock
i selected recovery, then i got the reboot option.
the phone just hanged on startup (white background, green HTC logo).
selecting recovery gives me the same error i described in my first post.
is your phone debranded?
Anyway, you should probably run 1.21 RUU from fastboot to return to previous rom

djoni1980, I just need to say..
Youre my hero!! My stock phone displayed the same problem. Tried your solution and now i am back in business! thank you VERY much!!!
I suggest to both of you to root phones using unrevoked, and then flash radio and rooted froyo when it arrives (later today ).
It is actually much safer - you can backup everything with titanium, do nandroid backup from recovery, wipe everything before you flash (which could be the cause of boot loop), and restore everything after successfull installation with titanium

I have renamed it to update.zip as i've read elsewhere, but when i select reboot from the bootloader menu i just get returned to the same situation.

No problem. Dont try that when something is running though. That might mess things up. But the sideload thing isnt running anything. Its just waiting for a command. They need to put a back or a cancel button on that.

Thanks for the advice but now I'm installing the crossbones ROM 2.3.0 but I'm stuck installing it,
I used to flash roms in my other phone a galaxy s3 and I've never had this kind of problems...
It says this:
Formatting system
Installing Crossbones ROM
that's all
What would you recommend me in this case?
Should I remove the baterry again? I've been waiting for almost 15 minutes and nothing again :/

You did everything right then. I dont know why it would hang. Id say pull the battery but like I said, it could mess something up if its actually doing something. Especially if it says it already wiped the system. If that happens, you're going to have to restore a factory image and start all over again. Its up to you if you want to take the chance. A ROM flash shouldnt take that long.

No problem. I hope you get it working. Or at least to boot up again.
Supposedly sideload in cwm is a bug with no way to back out unless you pull the battery or have usb connected [exit in command prompt?]. I was starting to like the touch recovery option, but recently i've accidentally pressed a couple of things i shouldnt have.
Sorry to hijack, but I'm attempting to sideload the 4.2.2 update from stock, and my sideload command seems to do nothing. I'm sure i'm connected as it displays my device number and "sideload" next to it. Using the sideload command simply displays the "help" list of the adb commands.
Is it a driver issue perhaps? Something else? (i noticed my batter was low just before attempting this).
Now i'm stuck in the waiting for adb sideload file.
hippochris: update your adb, or look in the help output to see if the sideload command is there. Also, i did this via stock recovery, selecting it in there.

I do NOT see the sideload option in the help output. I have all the latest updates from the SDK manager. Maybe i need to reinstall the SDK. I will give that a go. Thanks.
Edit: Downloaded the latest SDK/ADB and that worked. From 1.0.29 to 1.0.31
I've messed my phone with SideLoad, please help
I booted my Galaxy Nexus into custom recovery (CWM) for some other task but mistakenly gone into sideload menu!
Got no option to get back to main menu or reboot, i took the battery out and re-inserted. Now, my cell is not turning on since then!
Tried another time, took battery off but no luck..... what to do?
I've custom ROM, MIUI V5 4.2.2. My cell is unlocked and rooted, of course.
Please help.
What if the battery is non-removable?
Had stuck in that *** sideload on my SM-E500H and been waiting for the battery to drained it up all.
Yep, tried hardware button combinations as many times as I could.
if you can't take out the battery of your device and if longpressing whatever does not solve it
1. install adb on pc.
2. connect device with usb cable to pc
3. enter following command
Code:
adb sideload /dev/null
the device will complain that file is not valid but it will come out of the sideloading state

What if I'm still in sideload and get this error?
Code:

This adb server's $ADB_VENDOR_KEYS is not set
Try 'adb kill-server' if that seems wrong.
Otherwise check for a confirmation dialog on your device.
So I was scrolling through some Magisk Modules and I think I installed the wrong one by not paying attention, as I installed it I couldn't stop the process and either way I was screwed, afterwards it showed up in the "Modules" section and I hit the trash can and rebooted. If your bootloader is unlocked, while phone is booting press power button for 7-8 seconds or more this will restart your phone, when you see the black screen press vol down button to enter fastboot mode.
After fastboot mode you can flash stock rom with mi flash

Hello,
I havent been here since my s7 edge, but im in need of some help. I did a update today on my stock sprint S9 and it was updating and got stuck at 35%. Okay cool, so just go into bootloader and factory reset right? No, I boot into the bootloader than it automatically loops back to " system install update" and starts the progressing update and gets stuck again or somehow, it loops into the "power by android logo" if that makes sense..
I'm not sure how to get my phone to work again, but im asking for your assistance. Havent updated or root my s9, so I currently have no idea of rooting or anything here. Also, its not possible to enter developer mode since the phone does not fully boot, but loop. Is it possible to get the phone to fully boot again w/o any rooting, etc? Its been awhile lol.
Thank you for your time, Tuan.

That doesn't work either
There is only one wat I came back from the TWRP cycle of death.
I followed the steps for the side load in the OP of this thread. The bottom of the first post.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-20-x/how-to/fw-emui-9-1-0-123-evr-al00-t3935995
The update is listed and can be renamed (I used the 123 update_full_base.zip)
The nocheck.img was a challenge, but I found one in a TWRP backup I had done and save off. Doing a search of XDA later I see that there is also versions in the Mate 20 pro and Mate 10 forums.
Now I have a normal eRecovery, but I cannot obtain root and the recovery StockAL00, magiskAL00 amd newer images changed in bootloader don't seem to make a difference.

Damn, that's worse than I had it. I don't know if there is a way to HStool or modified HiSuite take a ROM update, which would return you to regular eRecovery.
I'm hoping that can work if you can Fastboot from bootloader through those steps or HiSuite recovery.
With my crazy sideload I cannot root, I get prompted for updates constantly (with updates set off) and HStool & HiSuite didn't work. Since I don't have root cannot do ENMUI flasher.
