You cannot
You need root because you must enable Camera2API

It's a tutorial how to enable the Camera2API without an unlocked bootloader
You can't do it on a locked bootloader, but you can unlock bootloader, get temporary root access, enable Cam2API, then lock the bootloader. Cam2API doesn't screw with OTAs.

Hey guys, i have been looking for a guide how to root our device and unlock the bootloader. I have found only guides for mi5 but are they diffrent than our phone? Or is it safe to say that they are the same and i can root the way they do it? And to unlock bootloader, i just wrote to xiaomi, or is there a easier way?

Hi to unlock the bootloader you have to sign up on xiaomi website and sent them the request for approval there is no other way to do it. Once this is done (it takes a few days to get a reply) you can finally unlock the bootloader using xiaomi unlock app, flash twrp and then root the phone using SuperSU. I hope this helps.

But I didn't see twrp support for 5s, only for the 5. Same for supersu. Did you root your phone?

For SuperSU you don't even need to disturb Google, just type supersu in the search box on the banener of this page.
Get the stable v2.79 flashable from TWRP zip.

I'm using Mi Mix 2 running MIUI 10 Global 8.8.23 and I'm about to install Google Camera and Dolby Atmos on this device. We all know that to do this I have to unlock bootloader, install TWRP, root or something like that.
Then my question is: after successfully installing GCam and Dolby, can I unroot, go back to the stock recovery and relock the bootloader to get the OTA update but keeping GCam and Dobly work persistently and flawlessly within the Global Rom ?

If you lock the bootloader after modding the system in any way, your phone will soft brick
So pretty much, no, you cant use locked bl with gcam and dolby

Is there a way to install V4A without root?
I don't like the equalizer-app of our Mi A2 Lite, but if I want to install V4A with Magisk, my phone must be rooted.
I don't have a problem with root or Magisk but I don't want to unlock the bootloader because it will wipe the phone...
So...is there a way to install Viper4Android without root/Magisk?

If you can get your bootloader unlocked.
Is TWRP available for the x80 pro?
there is not even a safe and official way to unlock the bootloader. Accordingly, there is no TWRP either.

Are you on Android 13. Any lock with rooting x80 pro with a13?
if you manage to go back to the 1st release 12.0.10.5 (for w10 variant), you can run an exploit to unlock the BL and install magisk
else, I don't think rooting is possible
