Hey guys, i have been looking for a guide how to root our device and unlock the bootloader. I have found only guides for mi5 but are they diffrent than our phone? Or is it safe to say that they are the same and i can root the way they do it? And to unlock bootloader, i just wrote to xiaomi, or is there a easier way?
Thanks for help guys
Hi to unlock the bootloader you have to sign up on xiaomi website and sent them the request for approval there is no other way to do it. Once this is done (it takes a few days to get a reply) you can finally unlock the bootloader using xiaomi unlock app, flash twrp and then root the phone using SuperSU. I hope this helps.

But I didn't see twrp support for 5s, only for the 5. Same for supersu. Did you root your phone?

And SuperSU link sir?
For SuperSU you don't even need to disturb Google, just type supersu in the search box on the banener of this page.
Get the stable v2.79 flashable from TWRP zip.

Hello,
I am currently downloading 7.2.16 (MIUI8) Developer Rom for my Mi Max, so i could unlock its bootloader since i got the permissions to do so. I have a few questions for the time after i unlock the bootloader evenyually:
1. Can i go back to the latest stable global rom and still have my bootloader unlocked?
2. Can you give me a link to suitable TWRP/Root tutorial.
3. If i succeed with the flash of TWRP and Root, would i be still able to receive OTA updates.
Thank you.

Hello, this is the best guide to root your device, also if u go back to another rom then yes the BL it will be unlocked. I think that you wont recieving OTA updates. but like i done before, u can download the rom that you want and flash through the updater app from settings

guide for rooting and install TWRP RECOVERY (http://xiaomitips.com/xiaomi-mi-max-root-install-twrp-recovery-miui8/ )
Hi everyone, this is my first post
This winter I had decided to install the GCam on my Mi A2 lite, so I followed a guide (I'm not able to mod any phone) I managed to install the cam. To install that I obv needed to root my phone and indeed on Root Checker that was rooted. Some months later, the phone was automaticatly updated and after that I don't know how that lost his rooting and the possibilty to use Gcam (and other apps). I didn't want to do all the process again so I let that go.
Now I'd like to install the Pixel Experience ROM on my Xiaomi tho, but I read that I need to have root permission and the bootloader unlocked. My bootloader is already uncloked, because in developer's option, under "Unlock OEM" is written. "the bootloader's already unlocked."), but I have no root permission. I don't know what to do, because as I said I'm totally ignorant.
Can I install a custom recovery without root permission? How can I install the Pixel Rom? I need to root again my phone?
Thank you all for you help!

You need for sure an unlocked bootloader but regarding root although you don´t need it to flash a custom recovery nor a custom rom probably is better that you have it so you might need to do other things like install mods that need root.
Just flashing the Magisk you´ll recover the lost root status again but if you don´t have recovery now just boot on it through fastboot and then flash it over your actual rom or if you want the Pixel rom just follow the tutorial posted in the thread.

Do I need a TWRP Recovery tho? Because I read on some guides that's a requisite to instal Pixel Rom.
And please, can you link me the tutorial you mean? Because I can't find out that.

Yes, you need a custom recovery like TWRP and regarding tutorial there is a how-to-install method on every custom rom and also in the thread of a Pixel rom https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/development/rom-pixel-experience-t3911489 they´re just some few steps

To be honest I can't find where's the tutorial into that thread :crying:
Anyway I've just thought that maybe I've already have a TWRP. I did a lot of operations when I installed the GCam, so maybe I also did that. Is there a way to find out if I already have it?

Oh sorry since I don´t use PE rom nevermind there is not a tutorial there but you will find one here https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...0-ressurection-remix-os-xiaomi-mi-a2-t3954197 it´s the same process (more or less) for any custom rom.
If you are on a custom rom just booting using advanced power reboot you can go to recovery to see if it still stays there, also you can go manually using key combination (vol up + pwr from a device off) and you have too adb reboot recovery command to boot on it.
I just updated to Android 9, and I want to know if there's someone working on a TWRP for this Android version or if there is already a way to root it. Thanks

Check this link for twrp: https://forum.xda-developers.com/z2-play/development/twrp-3-2-0-0-moto-z2-play-albus-t3715660
Yea you can root like any other Moto phones. First you've to unlock the bootloader then you can root and install twrp. To unlock bootloader check google.

You are not talking about anything in particular friend that version of twrp produces bootloop on the phone, it can only be started temporarily, I think they have not updated to the latest version of recovery

Hey, I also received a notification for this. My concern is that I might lose root access, which I don't want to. I'm assuming I can just boot a 10.0.4 kernel and re-root with magisk, but im nervous. Thanks for the post.

I tried installing it but I can't, not sure if it's because my bootloader is unlocked or what. I'm currently on stock, unlocked, no other modifications or root so I couldn't tell you if you'll lose root or not.

I ended up pulling the trigger flashing and I'm currently sitting on global version with root using 10.0.7. The process was a little tedious, but I got it working! Post install stuff was a breeze.

Perhaps T-Mo are just jerks.
OnePlus global firmware and installer doesn't care if you're rooted or not, through 10.0.7 at least. It'll download and install the full ROM image and install.
Did anyone ever manage to take the update here?

Hey guys! I have figured it out. It's the same reason why the McLaren version can't accept a OTA. The reserve.img file is missing due to unlocking the boot loader. I had version 10.0.3 installed and found a un-brick tool to return it back to stock. After that it worked just fine.
Un-brick tool:

You are absolutely correct.. Would you be willing to do a device restore again and pull that reserve.img for us all? We can then make an OTA package for everyone else.

I would be honered to help you.. Can you please tell me what version of OOS your running? And I'm going to assume you are already bootloader unlocked? If so, please visit https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7t/how-to/guide-how-to-root-oneplus-7t-twrp-t3979307
Download one of the patched_boot images and reboot your phone into the bootloader and run "fastboot boot patched_boot.img" (This will give you temp root)
Install magisk manager from https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/tag/manager-v7.5.1
Open Magisk and select install. Go thru the install process as this will patch YOUR current boot image.
I'd recommend making a backup of your current boot image before installing the magisk into your current bootimg. You can open an adb shell and do "su" then "dd if=/dev/block/by-name/boot_a of=/sdcard/boot_a.img" or "dd if=/dev/block/by-name/boot_b of=/sdcard/boot_b.img" depending on if your current slot is A or B.

Do you have IRC or another way to talk to me? I will help you.. The first step is to get your phone NETWORK unlocked(msg XDA member @mobbdeep).. After that, you can request a bootloader unlock from oneplus, then you flash the unlock token.. Then, you boot a modded bootimg. Then install magisk.. If you are on IRC, hit me up on freenode at bynarie. Otherwise, send me a PM.

Yes, I also wanted to give a try but for safe we should have all files backup as og working stock rom with odin tool so that we can take risk to proceed with unlock bootloader and rooting. Currently this phone is new in market so may be some time need to get all the correct files for this Model

It is working, first enable OEM unlocking. Then go into download mode (it is a little tricky, but this video works for the phone-:
. Then hold volume up and wait. I had to wait around 5 minutes but then it rebooted and started the setup.
Then I installed Magisk without TWRP. By downloading the file from samsungs servers directly. Setting the region to INS and setting the ROM info to the latest update. Then I decrypted and extracted it and sent the TAR file of the boot to Magisk app. Magisk app modified it to allow for root. Then I took the modified image file and then used Odin to flash it.
The instructions in the NaldoTech website work fine, it is just not very clear because of all the different links for everything and not having one page for the whole process.
