I remember when I had the m7 there were some programs running with adb, (there was a "htc one tool kt") called Renove, Firewater, ant Rumnunner who made the s-off device.
Is there a case to work for HTC 10?

Same with the HTC rezound.
I tested for the final release.
Must had restarted that phone with a paperclip 100+ times lol.
Turned out my crappy 1gb SD card was the issue. Tossed a 4gb one in and had soff first try.

No need to think, they definitely have a thread about this, its not hard to find.
Its possible only if you know an HTC employee who does it(probably lose their job if caught), or simply until developers find a way to do it.
There are S-off One X's out there. But very very very few of them are existing. I'd say just over 100 handsets. My One X is S-OFF. I got it as a prize from HTC!

lucky you
It can be accomplished. But you can't fix S-OFF with a few bucks.
You need alot of things. Mine has been unlocked by one the developers that is trying to accomplish this by a software solutions.
Now you need is a encrypted javacard and more stuff... In other words, try to rob the HTC repair center in your country and you have the stuff to S-OFF.

Xmoo did the S-OFF method on mine phone. But like I said, it is not done for everyone to S-OFF with Javacard. If we could copy the card... then everyone already has his HOX S-OFF.
Think about it
All I know for now, they are working behind the scene to get a software solution to S-OFF like the HTC Desire...

The s5 was never in the cards with me.
I see no reason that we won't have an exploit available pretty quickly. If nothing else, you can do the official HTC unlock now and wait for S-OFF later so you can cover your tracks.

Me neither. Until KNOX is either optional or gone altogether, Samsung will never get my business again. I refuse to support a company so openly anti-developer.

Hopefully your right and it will be htc dev unlockable from day 1. I doubt it being at&t.

With at&t its hard to tell but the One was HTC Dev unlockable on at&t at launch I thought?
This is why I'm glad I have T-Mobile. Besides the Sony phones (which T-Mobile likely doesn't even ask Sony to lock the bootloader but Sony chooses to do it themselves), T-Mobile is very cool about rooting and custom ROMs. Hell EVERY person at the T-Mobile store we go to has their **** rooted and they have no problem saying it! If an at&t employee did that, guaranteed there would be a job opening.

Original HTC One bootloader unlock was available on day 1 then vanished. I think there are other exploits. I have unlocked the bootloader of almost every Android device I've ever owned (except my Nexus 7 FHD). I *dont* intend on doing that with my M8 unless and until the promised support and updates doesn't materialize. In the best of all possible worlds, someone will come up with a temporary root method so I can at least run Titanium backup.

S-On means you can only install "Secure" software. S-OFF, means you can install whatever you want.
If you want roms, you'll want S-OFF.

Not completely correct, if you want ROMs you just need an unlocked bootloader and a recovery which you can get without S-OFF too...
S-OFF (Security-OFF) = much more control of the entire phone (you can do pretty much everything if you're able to do it)
if you have enough time to spend then read this perfect in depth explanation

Before I but the m9 I would like to ask if htc still uses the S-on methode... I hate it really. I did read something about a download mode with the htc one m9. Why they just make it as easy as samsung !!
You can unlock the bootloader, which is more that enough to do what you need.

I'm sure sunshine will come out with an S-Off method pretty soon. Also, Samsung devices are some of the hardest devices to any sort of modding. The new GS6 for example has a proprietary processor which means roms like Cyanogenmod won't be supported. Not to mention it's a pain to unlock the bootloader on a Samsung device...

T-Mobile can unlock using HTC dev and then run sunshine. Vzw is still waiting for sunshine to update it. Other option for the vzw m9 is send it to someone with a javacard.
I second the above. Mailed mine to somebody with a java card. Fortunately I had the Nexus 6 to hold me over while that was being done. If needed, I am sure you can find somebody in the java card thread.
I am sure this was clarified somewhere, but I read this thread and the one linked;
I have a Verizon M9 with S-Off from a Java card, locked bootloader and no root.
Assuming I root and then do this method, will my data be wiped?

Gotta have a java card to s-off, and I assume you gotta be s-off before you can unlock the bootloader and root. Check out the Java Card thread to find somebody with a java card and send your phone to them, or if they're close enough, meet up with them. Stand up guys, all of them are. Many many multiple success stories from people sending their devices and having it back within the week all ready to flash.. for just the cost of shipping and a donation..
You must be S-OFF to unlock your bootloader.
