I have searched the forum for GPS accuracy and GPS fix time, but I still miss a respons on how well constructed this device is.
My A100 is not rooted.
The problem is that the GPS acts unreliable with slow or no fix time.
The TTFF (Time to first fix) changed for the better after i made a cold fix from scrach and within the 15 minutes I had a better signal faster.
But still not reliable. It seems like the almanac and ephemeris data is loaded but is it lost when the A100 reboots?!
I have no clue
Since this device doesn't support 3G the A-GPS is not assisted by the 3G network.
Is the GPS in the A101 more reliable and faster because it have 3G support?
But I still don't know what the expect?
Why this is important to me? Acer have not delivered any usefull answers. And I want to know what to expect. No test or reviews are useful enough to answer my question. I tried Cnet and I got aware of this forum.
:fingers-crossed:
Cold-start TTFF: < 50sec
Just made a discovery
In the service guide (You'll find the link in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297422&page=2) the cold-start TTFF in said to be less than 50 seconds.
I guess it puts my problems in perspective :highfive:
Unless we forget
I get this **** now:
•To prevent spam on the XDA forums, ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages.
After approximately 10 posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thank you for understanding!
No! I don't understand! Prevent spam?! I use the Image Verification already.
And now I have to collect 10 stamps to open a treassure chest?!
I'm a good guy and you prevent me from continuing my righteous path to a knights's kingdom :cyclops:
So here are my links without.... ohh whatever...
I made another post in the Acer Tablet Forum (Post #17):
Ooop, "this guy hasn't posted 10 posts yet"
And this is made by some other guy:
Ohh, yeeah, sorry...
It's the same Broadcom GPS receiver
Guess what!...
:highfive:
So I guess I will continue my search
Bro root that thing and come to the dark side. This is with cm10 sitting on my deck. Locks instantaneously.
Sent from my A100 using xda premium
There will be root(beer)
Thanks. I like your answer :highfive:
Give me some time then I will return with some answers regarding if there is a warranty claim on my unit or not.
I will look into the rooting business by then. Hopefully the coming week.
My patience has been drawn to the limit.
There is no limit to what excuses a retail store clerk has to why he hasn't returned my calls. It's a definately maybe.

A lot of phones are assembled in China inc iPhone, oppo is regarded a very high quality company. Just look at their bluray players which are considered one of the best in the world.
Nexus 5 is made by LG, I would personal go for the oppo find 7, they have regular updates.
Thanks

There are 3 threads devoted to discussions about devices, please repost your question in one of these three threads: The what should I buy thread or the The Device Suggestion Thread or the The Device Comparison Thread.
Rate this thread to express how you think the Honor 8 Lite's Wifi performs. A higher rating indicates that it has excellent range, throughput, and signal strength. Like when you're taking a dump in the bedroom upstairs, do your videos have to buffer or do they come through without interruption?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Wifi signals are awsome like it connect to router without any time wasted
Using this phone with honor 8, honor 6x and honor 5x using the same network. Signals are great across devices.
Its pretty good.no signals drop.fast connect
no problem so far. signal reception is well and no problem faced till date.
its good

You dont even own the device. Posting to few extent is Ok but dude you are spamming now. You just own 5X and not these devices. Had you the device, you would be posting in other sections as well than just real life review. Stop it now or anyone can report your post and you would rather face more problems than you think. Check your posts in past 2-3 days you are just spamming every device without even seeing them once.

Hi Folks,
As you know, there are lot meet ups happening in India for Honor/Huawei users, currently for Honor 6X and Honor 8 Pro only, but we may see these coming to other devices as well based on the response. It may be limited for older devices where software support is not possible but eventually newer devices like, Honor 5C, Honor 8, Honor 6X and honor 8 pro would be included (if they get more requests for 5C and 8).
In this thread, lets discuss on various points/feedback and feature request that we want to raise it to the Honor teams during meetup and eventually taken up to the R&D team for consideration to enhance the end user experience in a positive way.
Anybody attending these meet ups with Honor team can put forward these points and we wish these points will be considered to provide a happy and positive user experience.
Creating a thread in Honor 8 Pro section as well so that 8 pro user can fill their points there and we can refer any of these thread for unique points to proceed with.
8 Pro Thread
Good luck.
Attached is the list of point raised during Honor meet up in Chennai and compiled by our fellow member @amulbaby (Abhishek)
View attachment Points_from_Chennai_Meet-up.pdf
8 pro thread- https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8-pro/how-to/feature-request-feedback-upcoming-emui-t3669807

removal of knuckle feature
camera lag on EMUI 5 (while opening only)
Over exposed image while using front camera
timely Kernel sources for all the device
Double tap to wake up
uniform OTA acorss all devices
Expecting for expert opinion, new points, feedback, feature request from @gopinaidu77 @VenuGopalu077 @PalakMi @RedSkull23 @clsA @jsbeyond @amulbaby add other if I missed anyone.

Well to be perfectly honest after owning 2 H5x and an Honor 8 I have no intentions of ever owning another Honor device.
The company has all but abandon it's past phone owners and all their interested in is you buying their next phone.
Their is no reason to back or support Honor and all their broken promises. The don't even respect their own employees
and they for Damn sure never listen to the Users request and feedback.
At the prices they are charging for their devices you could be using a LG G6 / HTC 10 / ZTE axon a Nokia 6 or any number of Moto or samsung phones (My kids Galaxy S8 plus was $525 with trade in and just $24 a month with samsung financing)

A transparent and open feedback mate :good:
First of all, thanks for asking my opinion about. I've read the PDF file attached and i found it very interesting. Plus, seeing such a relationship between OEM and customers is great. That's how things should always be.
Aside what has been already told, and the thing which i agree most is the uniformity of updates on all devices to ensure a quality performance to every device, I'd suggest to being more developer friendly (don't worry, I've already seen that in the points declared above, the release of kernel sources in time is already there). You shouldn't leave developers with tied hands, and anyway the device would be always bought from Huawei/Honor, so why mind too much at which OS will run on the phone? I buy the phone for hardware characteristics overall, what matters for real is that the user would feel free to do whatever it wants with the phone, once that it has been payed. Next; ensuring a stable security patch update without having to download the full package would be nice third: things like NFC chip present in the device but disabled in some countries (luckily I'm not one of the involved) should never happens. I understand about the call recording because some countries take it easier compared to others, but i think that the NFC technology is the same (or almost) in every country, so why disable it?
As i'll remind other features, I'll come back to speak about them. At the moment nothing else to say

Exactly mate. Thats why i said uniform OTA and similar EMUI for all variants if they use same hardware. Also OTA can be same across all devices.
First of all i want to say that honor is doing a good act.. Tgis meetup thing is very positive but i want them to really implement this and the results should be positive..
1. Double tap to wakeup on kirin based devices
2. Quick and firm OTA updates for all regions as i feel that Pakistan region is ignored and dont get updates fasters.
3. Should provide 2 major upgrades on a device.. Means 2 year full support.

Would be both a work in less to do by them, and a better way to communicate with other devices and so developing a more synergetic compatibility with various devices by the same OEM. Sounds more like something futuristic however ahahah. Jokes aside, some model surely has and will have particular features that are present only in models that the hardware would permit, like more options for a better shot on camera as an hypothesis. Then it'd be sufficient to add in the OS some strings as "show this option if camera sensor x is true" and "show not this option if camera sensor x is false" or something like that, like some apps and OS already do from many time (like Greenify and the alternative lock-screen option that is shown if is a fingerprint sensor is detected, in example).
I have two things to speak about:
1- honor made their devices totally hard to unlock and even harder to recover if bricked, I was wondering why they won't make it easy like Oneplus or Google?!
2- is about EMUI, I want Huawei to leave the lockscreen and notification panel just what Google intended (they can skin it however they)
The way how EMUI handle notification and lockscreen notifications is pretty bad.
I want them to fix these two points, and if they still continue with that.
I'm seriously going to sell my honor 8 and get Xiaomi mi A1

Intro:
Fan Meet is Something new organized by Honor in order to Collect opinions, feature requests and Bug reports from honor Users where other OEMs failed to do so.
I would like to share my experience how the meet had gone through.
About:
The meet was planned and set to start around 6:30 pm considering the availability of all the users who ever filled up the Google form. At 6:30 like regular we introduced ourselves to the Honor R&D team and later around 6:45 we had gone into discussions regarding the opinions on Emui 5. Surprisingly, Honor at first asked the Cons and what everyone Dint like in EMUI. Most OEMS just boast what they give and limit the users to use the same. But when it comes to Honor they asked the cons first. Mostly i heard about battery improvements and Ram Management. As they just gave a word, Promisingly (of course they surprised me and all) Honor 8 Pro users by pushing B150 ota which improves battery backup, Thermal optimizations and other bugs. That is soo quick and i dint expected such a quick response and This is completely Unexpected. And when gone through the second and foremost thing, they asked us what we need from honor in current software and future updates as well. Here Everyone raised their requirements, Even i did asked many things which our Members of Honor Forums striving since Long. R&D team took a note of what we requested. I hope that was a week day after Honor meet, they published a form here which is a poll where they tried to consider users choice. And the last one Pros On Emui . I feel EMUI 5 is obviously something that changed the game of Honor. Theres a lot of features where other proprietary softwares dint have. For the People who cant tweak their phone like root&flash(Covers everything regarding roms), The feature rich EMUI is like RR for unrooted Users. Even we discussed Many things regarding EMUI and we ended Discussions at 8:30 PM.
Post Meet:
Honor arranged dinner for all the enthusiasts who were at the meet. R&D team is friendly, they let us express everything in our mind. Its not just a normal day, HONOR truely surprised everyone in all aspects. As a token of Honor, They gave presentations to all the visitors which is eye catching .
Conclusion:
As far as i understand through the meet, Unlike other OEMs Honor is trying to reach the end users which is not a anything normal.
They collected the list of cons and rolled out an ota for 8 pro and 6x users within a week, Noted the feature Requests and published a form immediately. Woah, i feel honor(Huawei) will be a top brand if they continue the same strategy.
Kudos to R&D and Honor for giving us an opportunity to share our thoughts. And Thank You to all the Readers, Hope u guys will be at a Honor meet in ur nearest city soon. (To Openup, This Meet was arranged in Hyderabad).
That is nice. I wish that other android OEMs would do the same thing too.
Ahan its really great that honor is trying to listen user opinioms and requirements.. but i hope they don't ignore Pakistani users too in updates..
