[Q] Un root HTC Bravo...

First off, Yes I have searched more than this site for an answer to the point where my handset would not do anything but go into the recovery menu.
What I want to do is put stock HTC Android on my Desire.
Currently it is rooted but has to be un rooted to go onto works E Mail server. Yes I know it makes no difference but my employer insist on official firmware on handsets.
The handset is a GSM HTC Desire (Bravo)
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP 2-ON
HBOOT-093.0001
CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY v2.5.0.7
I have tried several RUU's only to be told of a boot loader error.
Can some one please tell me how this is done?
I asked my network and they could not help so unless some one can help me im going to have to ask HTC.
THANKS in advance
RICK
Hi,
I've seen a few posts that refer to getting the HTC ROM changing it's name to PB99.img (or similar or ...) Then reoot the phone. Try searching the forums for this type of solution. I'm sorry but can't remember where I saw it in here.
Regards
Colin
I have just tried to use http://shipped-roms.com/download.php...828_signed.exe but it returned a boot loader error... 140 I think

Thanks for you input mate
Hmmm,
How would they know if the HTC Sense ROM just happened to be rooted. One could argue that the ROM was a valid HTC ROM. I know it's semantics but ...
The "About phone" would still show HTC as the ROM.
There must already be a variety of ROMs on HTC desires already used in your company.
The Clockwork recovery would give it away mate.

This might work for you Not sure if you have tried it but try again
WAIT, BEFORE YOU START, CREATE A GOLDCARD. IT IS VERY NECESSARY. THINGS WILL GO WRONG IF YOU DONT.
Firstly, download this file. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13240777/Desire Downgrade.ZIP
Extract the files.
Run the win-down.bat file.
Follow on screen instructions.
After the process is completed, Head to the root of your SD card and check if there is a file named PB99IMG, there should be one.
Secondly, disconnect your phone and turn it off. (MAKE SURE PHONE IS CHARGED TO AT LEAST 70%++
After that boot up your phone while pressing the volume down button and the power button.
The bootloader should be checking for files after awhile and once it found the file that is supposed to be in the root of your sd card, press the volume up button (NOT EXACTLY SURE, SHOULD BE THE ONE THAT SAYS YES AND CONTINUE)
It should be writing files to your phone. and replaces everything. E.G: HBOOT, RECOVERY,RADIO and such.
It should be writing files successfully and then it would ask you to reboot. Continue with the reboot and you should be having your Desire back to stock. Perfect.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE ARE RISKS INVOLVED LIKE FAILURE OF WRITING TO THE HBOOT. PLEASE REMEMBER TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. MAINLY, DO NOT BLAME ME FOR ANYTHING THAT GOES WRONG.
FINALLY, YOU SHOULD BE READING EVERYTHING UP TO HERE AND THAT YOU MUST HAVE A GOLDCARD (A GOLD SD CARD)
Hope this helps you and please ask if you have further questions. PM me if the questions cannot be answered here. Good Luck

Oh, one more thing, that error you get i think it is because you don't have a GoldCard. You need one to do the above too

Yup, "ERROR 140:BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR" The only time you can put a lower bootloader version is when you have a gold card.
The above method posted by Shockem should work. A second method is to just put a gold card in your device and get the latest WWE RUU. Check my signature for the file. Once a gold card is in, it will work. Note that this method unbrands your device, so if you a branded device with visible logos, dont go for this.
Third method is by flashing the OTA zip file you got from your operator if you have it. Again gold card should be in the device. But is is likely that it may also work without since CustID is same. Advantage: preserves branding
So do I still need a gold card even though my device is rooted?

Certainly.........
Point is you say you've tried several RUUs and they dont work..Hence we have to assume it's a branded phone. HTC even brands some phones with the brand HTC (Eg Indian HTCs). To unroot a branded HTC, you need a goldcard.
i had same problem, i was trying for days till i rememberd that i can downgrade hboot, install android 2.1 and ota update froyo. ( if your desire wasnt branded you dont need goldcard). problem was that i couldnt find stock froyo, only eclair
this thread helped me :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
i hope it helps
Point is some people (including me in the past) dont realize that they have a branded phone. There may not be any visible branding. So better be safe than sorry, by creating a goldcard.. Once the device if bricked, you cant (in most cases) create a goldcard
Thank you all so much.
I'll be doing this tonight.

This worked a treat.
I can not say thank you enough...
haha, no problem we're all here to help by the way which method did you use?

Stuck at bootloader, can't access recovery

After flashing cm7r2 hboot in order to flash a new rom I got stuck at bootloader and lost access to recovery... I flashed hboot through fastboot, it got done without obvious errors... So I tried flashing a new recovery but I end up every time in the same situation... It just hangs on why so serious screen after vibrating for more than 5 times... I tried flashing differerent hboots, recoveries but that doesn't solve anything... I'm not sure if this is any clue, I tried flashing radio and I get updating error in fastboot...
In the end I tried flashing a ruu (RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed) but I can't go through with it because I'm not in Android or whatever, it says error 170... Maybe if someone can tell me how to get around that ruu's android check I could finish ruu install...
Any help is welcome
I have the same problem, stuck on the white screen with htc logo in it and can't access recovery, tried creating a gold card and ran a RUU exe file, however I always get a customer id error. Hoping someone here can help us both. :-/
@OP boot into fastboot (turn off, hold back & power) and then use the RUU.
@ericbangug your goldcard evidently doesn't work - try again or try using a different SD-Card
To you both. Try read through my troubleshooting guide maybe you'll find some help there if you're still stuck
Thanks for replies and link to your very extensive thread... I'm not through reading it, so maybe i missed something that can be helpful... In the mean time I had a very busy afternoon trying many RUUs. None of them worked except the latest one, the infamous gingerbread one... But not even that one worked fully... After multiple attempts I'm stuck now again on bootloader, and RUU install is incomplete... It fails at radio flash (it says fail-pu) and partition update fails ergo the whole update fails... Unfortunate thing is that the device is not S-OFF anymore... So if someone has some idea how to finish RUU update in some other way please point me in the right direction...
since it's failed on radio you might be totally screwed. Using gingerbread one was so stupid. Should've just made a goldcard and used a 2.2 WWE RUU
Yeah, well since none of the other RUU (tried many versions both wee and branded) installations didn't complete with goldcards (i tried with multiple sdcards) I tried with the gingerbread one and when that one failed I knew I'd have to send phone to support service... hope they will find some solution... I'm still very confused with situation because I'm not completely sure what went wrong... I presume that partition went to hell... :/
Anyways thanks for feedback

[Q] I would like some help please

If I could , I would like some help. I am new to the Android thing and with a ATT Htc one x , I tried the rooting thing. I successfully got a Viper xl rom on the phone and thought I would try something else. Using the All In One toolkit I downloaded from a link at another forum. I managed to get the phone relocked when trying to get back to the stock rom. Now the PC (windows 7) will not recognize the phone. The AOI will not see the phone. The phone wont connect to the PC. When plugged in either as AC or USB to the computer a screen comes up with FastBoot, Bootloader etc. The phone shows in the device manager but no where else. Using the AOI I can get it to get to a screen that is black with htc in the middle which came from recovery to flash a factory RUU in recovery. But it wont work.
Have I "bricked the phone" or can it be recovered ? If so I would like someone to help me with a guide on what to do. Not that savy when it comes to computers. I can manage to screw things up more than fix things with a PC.
AW: [Q] I would like some help please
Can you boot normally?
Point 1 : never use something from another forum than the forum from your phone !!!!!!!!
Point 2 : you are in the wrong forum here
Go to the AT&t,rogers,HTC one XL forum and please stay there if you don't want to brick your phone !
(If its not already now)

I thought I was in the HTC one X section here . sorry if I am wrong. The forum I was refering to was for HTC one X. The toolkit I used was for the HTC one x.
Sorry to intrude here. Will go back and do some more searching on the net for help.
Again sorry to make an intrusion here. Some of the information I read was from this forum also.
I want you to be on the safe side with your phone mate, check your bootloader
This forum is for the endeavoru type phone, the AT&T forum is for the Evita type phone. Please check which one you have and direct yourself to the correct forum

[Q] htc one mini

one mini os erased... tried everything, flashing ruu,zip file.. getting error.... is this fixable or hopeless? someone help pls..
when i try a normal boot, its just on the htc logo with white background and pc cant read the device... htc mtp driver failed..
May be fixable, but this is the original htc one thread not for the mini. I dont know if there is a mini thread, but i dont think anyone here would be much help. If you can get to hboot, it can most likley be fixed with an ruu. What error were you getting when trying the ruu? And are you sure its the right ruu? The ruus found in this thread will not work for the mini.
Moved to Q&A forum.
