Does this Mi 6 have backlight bleed? - Xiaomi Mi 6 Questions & Answers

Photo was taken with brightness set at 50% in darkness:
Notice the lower left corner. Is this brightness distribution normal in this model?
Thank you in advance.

on my mi6 the only "Backlight bleed" i have is on the top side and it is really, really hard to spot with the naked eye (in a dark room at 25%-50%-75%-100% brightness)

To be fair it is bearable, but odds are that the lcd might have been "stressed" in some way, either during transportation or normal use. I personaly would live with it until time comes to replace it with a better phone.

increase max brightness

Hey all, anyone know a way of increasing the maximum brightness level? It seems that with dark videos all over is reflections, hopefully I could increase the maximum brightness and this will lessen the reflections.
Any ideas?
(PS, I would put in a q&a section, but there isn't one for the gen9, why isn't there a complete section for the g9?)
I'm afraid nothing can be done. Max brightness depends on hardware, there is no way to tweak it.

Damn, that is a shame. I was hoping there was a software restriction in build.prop or similar that prevents the brightness going too high in order to extend battery life or backlight life.
Oh well, thanks!

IIRC restriction is only for lowest backlight level (so you won't make a totally black screen with backlight=0)

ive bought an antireflex protective film. now there are no reflections, fingerprints and grease spots. before, i cleaned the tablet nearly every day. now ive done it maybe twice in 6 weeks.

Possible to tweak camera?

Before I got my m8 i had a china phone with a realy fast camera.
Now with this phone photos often are blurred.
How can I make the camera more snappy?
If you've had the phone for a couple months or more, or it was purchased used; it may just be that the anti-glare coating is peeling off, and causing the photos to be blurry. If this is the case, you should be able to look at the rear (main) camera glass, and see the coating "flaking" off.
If you can confirm this, the easy fix is to remove the rest of the coating with various methods (gently rubbing with alcohol, toothpaste, etc.):

thanks for your reply, but this is not what i mean.
i mean motion blur. the lens is to long open when i take pictres.
i mean the Camera shutter speed.
i´ve found no camera app that can adjust that.

Shutter speed is a function of the ISO, aperture and amount of light.
If you just change the shutter speed, without changing the other variables, you will have underexposed (dark) pics.
You can try to manually adjust (force) the ISO and exposure, but you'd have to adjust these every time the lighting conditions change. And your pics may look very "grainy" and dark in lower light.
EDIT: Or go to full Manual mode, see details in Post #10 below.
Not sure what your previous phone is, but the M8 is a very good low-light performer, and fast response. At least compared to other phones of its generation.
Low light is not so important than a realy fast response.
With my last phone we drove 80 km/h and i made a photo out of the car. The tree rushing over was 2 meters away and super sharp in the photo. The M8 camera should do this too.

In "Auto" mode, the camera will keep the "shutter" open (in this case, its not an actual shutter, but just a sensor being turned on/off) as long as it thinks it needs to, based on the ISO, exposure, lighting conditions, etc. The "shutter" speed is automatically determined, and as with any "auto" setting; you might not agree with what its doing. You can't tweak the "shutter" speed on this device. But you can try to adjust the ISO and exposure (as I've already mentioned) to see if it helps to shorten the shutter speed.
EDIT: Or go to full Manual mode, see details in Post #10 below.
Thanks. Yesterday i tried to adjust the ISO. It is a little bit better but not satisfying.

You can choose Manual mode and decrease exposure time (equilvalent increase shutter speed).
To wich camera APP you are refering?

Damn, so you can! I knew about "manual" mode, but honestly couldn't remember how to go into that mode (I never use it): http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8/howto/464940.html
The slider with the shutter-like symbol (fractional numbers along it) actually works pretty well. I turned it up the lower exposure times; waved the phone pretty quickly while taking a picture, and no blur! Of course, the pics will look more grainy and dark, the lower the exposure time.
But I think that is exactly what the OP was looking for (although the resulting pic quality mayor may not be to their satisfaction). Sorry for any misleading information!
@redpoint73 yes this is what I was looking for. Thanks
Maybe the hardware can take good photos but for normal use and snapshots it is not useable. The camera from my cheap chinaphone was far better.

Sure with high shutter speed, the photo will be dark, you should increase ISO too. I rarely use low exposure time, usually I take photo with high exposure time and low ISO in the night.

Low light

At the club, at the bar, or just in your mom's basement, nighttime is when you come out to play. Rate this thread to express how the OnePlus 3T's camera performs when no or low light is present. A higher rating indicates that the camera sensor "sees" lots of light in dim conditions, and that the resulting photos have minimal noise. A higher rating also indicates that when the flash fires, the resulting photo is evenly-lit without any bright spots.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Blurry images, all the time, totally unacceptable. Using OS 3.2.8
Rated 4, you need to know how to take the best shot. Not exactly the point and shoot but otherwise with manual controls it's really good.

auto, HQ mode, as you can see both shots are handheld as per my shadow on the lower right of the 1st picture.
HQ modes gives cleaner output than manual except if ISO is 100 but we need tripod for that because we need also longer exposure which I believed OIS can't handle longer than 1/3s due to handshakes
Another night shot test after installing the new Oxygen OS 4.0.3 with improved camera in low light.
Hello guys,
Am planning to buy 3T. Can you rate this model on overall basis ? Also, does anybody know about 4T or 5T release date ?

Try manual mode.
In low light use hq mode for better pictures.
And look on the lens if it's dirty.
Here are some pics i took

Thanks, HQ is working for me.
I donn't know what to expect nowadays, but it's definately bad.
Here's some lowlight shots, I don't take many pictures coz photography is my least priority right now, I bought 3T for its performance hehe!
Taken last week 9 o'clock p.m.
Zoooooooommmmmmm!!!! :good:

4T or 5T? Are you kidding me?
Needs Improvement
The camera could use an upgrade in software. Blurry and noisy images in low light. But no issues in manual mode.

Problem with low brightness

Hi all,
I have one problem with low bright. I dont know if this is a particular one or happen in all amoled displays.
When I adjust the lowest brightness (in a dark room, for example) I can see a ghosting from dark backgrounds in the display. But, when I adjust a >20% brightness (for example, I dont know if its 20 or 30) it disappear.
I know that the brightness is just an adjustment of the frecuency of the display (more brightness, more frecuency), but this is strange for me. Its my first amoled display, so maybe, can be that and this is a normal behaviour.
I will upload one video tomorrow for you to test this.
EDIT: This is the video. Watch it in low brightness and in a dark room.

Definitely need a video.
For the records, make sure you have all the proofs to the issue before posting here

Yes, i have the same issue. I did that on the Nexus 6P with the same DarkPro settings (benchmarking with the 6P). And when you lower the it, there is a noticable ghosting on the 5t. It is normal for this Amoled Panel of the OnePlus 5T, on the Nexus 6p this is normal.

Question Low brightness (not dimming) on F3 ?

Hi to all.
I've received my F3 today. I'm so happy.
The only flaw I've seen on it is about its brightness : it seems to be a bit low and we must push it quite almost 100 % to have decent brightness. To those who have received the phone : did you notice that ? I'm not talking about dimming but regular brightness for regular use (not heavy use)
Thanks for your answers
I'm yet to able to order mine .
However, listening to reviewers the brightness curve apparently wasn't very even. Might be able to be fixed in a custom ROM
Yeah maybe.
I can not confirm. In very bright surroundings, like outside when the sun is shining, it gets very bright. I have nothing to complain about.
I don't have any complaints either, the maximum brightness is excellent. Compared it to my brother's OnePlus 6T and the F3 is for sure brighter.
Same as OP.
I got my F3 this morning and the brightness is the same as my old MI 9 SE. It should be not
I think it's a software issue.
Paradoxically display seems to be brighter as few hours ago. What are your settings ?
brightness seems fine to me,but unfortunatly it doesnt get as bright as a oneplus 8 indoor on max brighntess, but in the sun(max peak), the display of the poco is a bit brighter, so i am satisfied with the results.
yep my old s8+ has more brightness than this xiaomie noodles phone so sad i am disappoint with my purchase
Seems like a lot of people here like to have their brightness set to retina burn mode.
I haven't used a OLED display phone yet but I'm pretty sure it'll be brighter than an IPS one at 450 nits max, even then I only have the brightness set to about 75%.
No way to measure or really compare it to other recent OLED screens, but it gets bright enough for a sunny day outside here in the Netherlands. More sun to come hopefully... Also it seems to pump up the contrast a bit when in direct sunlight which is helpfull.
So no complaints here for outdoor readability.
Yea it's brightness is less than my oneplus 7t pro but it's Amoled is way better than my old phone when I watch YouTube video.

I don't think so but I feel the brightness is way less than oneplus 7t pro which also Amoled if not mistaken but the youtube video I watch pco f3 wins hands down.
Hi all,
I have just experienced a brightness problem,
It went very low on its own while not being in auto mode,
It even affected the brightness while the phone was off and charging, which scared me a bit lol,
I was about to seriously consider a factory reset and the brightness came back to its original levels,
The "brightness bar" was still at max during the issue,
And i think it is because i've stayed for too long under the hard sun , playing videos for one hour or two and it happened while i was reading an article on Chrome.
Gud day!
