Does this have the pink issue?

Hello All
Just came across this forum and a thread on the pink screen issue.
Do you reckon this one has the same issue?

All of the phones are the exact same and have the exact same "issue". I use my phone on maximum brightness all the time so I never notice it. It's only noticeable if you use the phone on the lowest brightness setting (Why anyone would buy an AMOLED phone just to use it on the lowest brightness is beyond me)

Is that true? Does everyone have a pinkish screen if u run it in the lowest brightness? (Havent gotten my Desire yet.)

Yes i'm fairly sure they do. But at anything over the lowest brightness it doesn't occur. Again, why you would buy an AMOLED to use it on lowest brightness is beyond me

Check the appropriate thread: there is a huge difference between handsets. Most are like this, some are totally unaffected and some are basically defective.

Yes poor answers, I do not have any pink even on the lowest brightness settings. This means your device is defective and you should get it replaced as many others have done. And yes there is a thread dedicated to this issues:

Im a total OCD for these kind of things. pink issue, dust under screen, dead pixels etc... I don't have the pink issue. It was one of the biggest concerns for me when I ordered the phone. I had seen sample photos from the nexus one that had pink etc. I think there are two issues. A screen issue, and a camera issue? anyway, I don't have pink in my screen at low setting (which I use ALL the time indoors to consevre battery) or any other setting. I also don't have pink in any pictures or videos I made with the phone.

What do you think of the examples i posted?

I only notice the off-pink tint in GMail. Nothing major tbh.

I cannot see any pink on your photos at all, but I went to my brightness settings and copied what you did in the screen shots and YES my gray looks like it has a red/pink/rose tint at the VERY lowest setting. At 5% brightness it's fine, gray. at 0% setting it has the rose tint. This is NORMAL and a limitation of the display technology (pentile matrix). If this is what you mean, your screen is normal. It's only certain shades of gray that will be affected by this and normally only at minimal brightness settings. I thought you meant you had a pink blob on the screen centre etc? If you just mean the gray menu and ntificaiton bar etc appearing slightly rose coloured at lowest setting, this is normal. I presume the grays are fine when the you move the brightness bar up from 0% to 5% or 10% setting?

"True" Blacks Smearing/Lagging behind Display Issue

I've notice the screen will smear/lag behind while displaying "true" black (pixels are off) areas of the screen in fast motion (pictures, backgrounds, etc...). I'm sure this is a common problem with this display type as I've read similar things before (purple or black), but wanted to make sure all is well on my expensive new toy. It seems to happen more when the brightness is turned down, but it can also be noticed heavily on gradient backgrounds while scrolling left/right on the home screen. Turning up the brightness does resolve the issue for the most part (you can still see it, but it goes away much quicker), but why is it so apparent on this display versus others (Galaxy S5)? Maybe having many more pixels to flip on and off in the affected area is the cause due to the phone having a 2k display versus the 1080p display of the Galaxy S5. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I have this issue as well. I have not seen anymore information on this issue anywhere. Have you heard or seen anymore about this?

Yep. I too have the exact same issue. I wonder what the consequences will be when using thw Gear VR with our Note 4... probably weird smushy images I'm guessing

I've had this issue as well. I was on a Plane at night watching Dark Knight Rises. I have auto brightness on so it dims in lower lighting but in that movie there's a lot of dark scenes and you can def see the lag with the pixels during fighting scenes and fast movement.

i am having this issue.
on the european note 4
i have no idea what to do and i dont want to visit service on the holiday season..... :crying:

Mine does this also. Only when the brightness is extremely low. I think it has something to do with the pixels being "lazy" when the brightness is low. It would be a drawback that comes naturally from the benefit we get with OLED.
EDIT: To sum it up, nothing is wrong, it's natural, just turn up your brightness when it is critical to not have the smearing.

But i really freaked out when i first mentioned this on my phone! and on the idea of possible service visit

Word. I only noticed it in low brightness levels so I'm not worried. At least blacks are actually black, instead of some purple-ish weird color they had back in the first Note.

The poor color reproduction is the exact reason this is my first OLED screen. They've finally got it right.

Is it just some minor smearing while scrolling? I'm pretty sure most if not all devices I have used have this a little when scrolling quickly.

its an 1 inch smudge while i'm in the gallery, or 0.2inch smudge while viewing movies (POC: On stranger's tide for example)
haven't noticed it in any games other than minecraft(clouds go purple) ! (i don't play it, touch controls act weird on my note)

Amoled problem?

Hello everyone,
I just bought my oneplus 3 but when I am scrolling with blacks in the screen I see something like blurring or blending the black color with the next one for a second.. I didn't have amoled screen again so I don't know of this is normal.

Here when I am scrolling with low brightness (5%-10%) especially in the last colors the blur is too strong.
Sooo... Is it defective? Should I return it?

I believe that's normal I've noticed it on my screen too but because this is my first time with an amoled screen I thought it's probably normal... I wouldn't worry about it.

Return it. Not normal IMO as I don't have it.

Even with low. Just tried multiple combinations of screen and ambient brightness and I cannot replicate that glow/blur.
I guess it's not present on all AMOLED panels, similar to backlight bleed on LCDs.

Turn off any third party screen filter or auto brightness apps like Lux if you have any enabled. I experienced the issue you described when I was using lux app

No this is 100% normal and EVERY AMOLED screen has this. For the people saying they can't see it, they are blind. Sorry for being so blunt but it's something that all AMOLED have as the slight purple blur is the turning on of the pixels when they are displaying black. My S3 (had 3 of them), S4, S5, S6, OP3 and any other AMOLED screen had this. My friends OPX Had this, my friends Note 5 had this. Don't worry your phone is fine

My first OP3 has burn in problems and it also had this common amoled issue, my second OP3 has this "issue", It's normal, I had the same issue on my S4 mini.

THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE, it's perfectly normal all AMOLED have it. Please close this thread as it's useless

I've used various display technologies, all have pros and cons. I suspect that to display something very dark the pixel only lights up briefly. Since it's not much energy used, the various parts of the pixel (RGB subpixels using a certain matrix) light up - but not with the same speed. I'd even more suspect that it's the same with light pixels, but far less noticeable with the human eye.
I would not bother....

I have noticed this issue since two firmware updates but i usually dont use night mode much that is why did not post anything regarding this.
When the nightmode is on and the brightness level is low lets say around 20% , the pixels are not really off when the bg is black (settings menu/qs). But when the brightness is increased above 40% the pixels go off and ive a true amoled bg.
Does anyone else have this issue?

That can be but it is completely black amoled on my s9+. Maybe software update can fix it in the future. Not a major bug though, just wanted to know if the problem was common.

Mine is just simply not true black, but I can only see it when I boost the brightness. But to be fair, samsung doesn't really promise a true AMOLED black as they say it's just so it's easier on the eye at night (dark/low light) ambient. But yeah, it'd be better to have a true AMOLED black in night mode.

Mate, it is true amoled back on flagship devices after s8, i had a true amoled black on my s9+ no matter at what level my brightness was set.

Yeah its also amoled black on my a7 2018 and a50 except for the normally white parts in the ui but its okay like most of the ui is still pure black its not like the whole screen is grey

Theres no large difference in mah consumption between completely dark mode (pixels off) and dark theme.

To me it seems black parts are true black/turned off. On any level of brightness is the same.

No I think Samsung did it intentionally.. because true black is way more susceptible to burn in.. you can't have UI elements being turned off all the time that would result in very bad burn ins to text and Icones..
Still thay made it dark enough so you won't notice it
And another thing it's the opposite of what you said when the brightest is low it turns off and when it's high it becomes very dark gray technically black but not off.

Also you can't design a decent looking gui if all elements are pure black.

Guys try good lock app via which the notification panel can be adjusted to colors we want

That's not how burn in works. Burn in occurs at the pixel level. A pixel that's on all the time will burn at the regardless of the colors of the surrounding pixels (black, grey, or whatever)

Every burn in is different from another.. basically the higher the contrast the worst the burn is

I think maybe you're confusing contrast with brightness? Again, burn-in occurs at the pixel level, when a pixel cannot return to its initial relaxed state, and is not dependent on whether the pixel beside it is on or off.

Hello, on my galaxy a50, there is a similar effect, only at a brightness close to the minimum, a gray gradient appears, part of the screen becomes gray and part black. When you increase the brightness to about 40 percent, the color is aligned. At the same time, the black color remains black on the lock screen at any brightness.

Question Low brightness (not dimming) on F3 ?

I've received my F3 today. I'm so happy.
The only flaw I've seen on it is about its brightness : it seems to be a bit low and we must push it quite almost 100 % to have decent brightness. To those who have received the phone : did you notice that ? I'm not talking about dimming but regular brightness for regular use (not heavy use)

I can not confirm. In very bright surroundings, like outside when the sun is shining, it gets very bright. I have nothing to complain about.

I don't have any complaints either, the maximum brightness is excellent. Compared it to my brother's OnePlus 6T and the F3 is for sure brighter.

I got my F3 this morning and the brightness is the same as my old MI 9 SE. It should be not

Paradoxically display seems to be brighter as few hours ago. What are your settings ?

brightness seems fine to me,but unfortunatly it doesnt get as bright as a oneplus 8 indoor on max brighntess, but in the sun(max peak), the display of the poco is a bit brighter, so i am satisfied with the results.

yep my old s8+ has more brightness than this xiaomie noodles phone so sad i am disappoint with my purchase

Seems like a lot of people here like to have their brightness set to retina burn mode.
I haven't used a OLED display phone yet but I'm pretty sure it'll be brighter than an IPS one at 450 nits max, even then I only have the brightness set to about 75%.

No way to measure or really compare it to other recent OLED screens, but it gets bright enough for a sunny day outside here in the Netherlands. More sun to come hopefully... Also it seems to pump up the contrast a bit when in direct sunlight which is helpfull.
So no complaints here for outdoor readability.

Yea it's brightness is less than my oneplus 7t pro but it's Amoled is way better than my old phone when I watch YouTube video.

I don't think so but I feel the brightness is way less than oneplus 7t pro which also Amoled if not mistaken but the youtube video I watch pco f3 wins hands down.

Hi all,
I have just experienced a brightness problem,
It went very low on its own while not being in auto mode,
It even affected the brightness while the phone was off and charging, which scared me a bit lol,
I was about to seriously consider a factory reset and the brightness came back to its original levels,
The "brightness bar" was still at max during the issue,
And i think it is because i've stayed for too long under the hard sun , playing videos for one hour or two and it happened while i was reading an article on Chrome.
