Hi,
I have installed for a long time on 15254 in my Lumia 930. Everything works perfectly but some days now the ringing sound from the alarm isn't working and I want to try to get back to the official version of RS1. Is there a way to install RS1 directly on my mobile without having to go back to 8.1 and make this whole process almost the whole day to complete? Is that possible ?
Thank you.

If you really want to go backwards and stay on an older release... You would need to unlock the boot loader and find someone with instructions to load the custom built ROM with that particular RS1 version for your specific Lumia 930, then never update again or decide what to do from there. Otherwise you can use the Windows Device Recover tool to reload WP8 and then download the OTC updater tool from Microsoft and leave it plugged in while it updates to W10M all over again...

Hi,
It seems that the rollback works only once.
So, i installed the NoDo update and the rollback option was in Zune, at Settings->Phone->Update.
I rollback it and after a while put it again, because i got the "an update is available" every time i connected Zune.
This time there is no rollback option on Zune, Settings->Phone->Update page, it only display:
Your Phone is up to date.
Current phone software version: 7.0 (7390).
So i think the only way to roll back now is hard reset(i didn't tried that yet).
It is a feature or a bug?
Not sure. I accidentally did not remember to apply the relock prevention registry edit on my Samsung Focus before I updated to Nodo. As a result my phone became locked again and I lost my ability to sideload.
I restored my phone to the Feb update through Zune, made sure to unlock the phone and apply those registry edits, and reupdated to Nodo. I successfully got my phone back to a dev unlocked state =)
Check to be sure your phone isn't connected as a guest partnership and that its the exact same device name. Just a thought.

How long did yours take to roll back? I am attempting to roll mine back and take the phone back to AT&T because of a constant boot-reboot issue.
And doing a hard reset will just erase your data... it will not roll back your device.
I think my rollback took about 20-25 minutes... sorry I didn't time it.

OTD Razor, now, if you go in Zune at Settings->Update you still have the option to rollback?
Thanks.
I rolled back at least twice and I still have the option in the Zune software.

I think this is a bug in the Zune software. When I upgraded from 7.0.7004 to 7.0.7008 I had the same problem. There was no backup. No possibility to restore. When I upgraded to 7.0.7390 (NoDo) a proper backup was created and I do have to possibility to restore. I don't know the exact conditions for failing or succeeding to make a backup.
Plug it in, open zune ->Settings ->Phone ->Update ->Restore/Rollback.

The problem is that "Restore/Rollback" is not there
Anyway, i was only curios if i'm the only one with this kind of problem.
Like I said above... I couldn't get mine past step 2.. the reboot phase. Phone had the Samsung boot screen on it all night. Doesn't matter. I took the phone in this morning to AT&T because of the stupid hard reset/reboot issue I was having. New phone is unlocked and loaded with what I need on it. NoDo is a damn snore.
Got this method to work to get the update on Rogers Lumia 900.
I have Windows 8/Zune and the Lumia 900.
1- Connect your Windows Phone to a PC and launch the Zune software.. note put the phone in airplane mode
2- Click on Settings/Update. Allow the software to tell you whether an update is
available. If so, skip this guide. If not continue to the next step.
3- Click the check for update button again, and this time immediately disconnect
your computer from the internet. Do this by pulling the Ethernet cable, disabling Wi-Fi, etc. ( I have just disabled the Ethernet adapter) But you should this as soon as the update starts, as your procedure will take some time!!!
4- You should receive a notification that an update is available.
5- Now reconnect to the internet and continue with the update process through the Zune software.
Just to add to it... it updates to 7.10.8779.8 first. Then redo the steps above to get to 7.10.8783.12 .. and then again to 7.10.8858.136 .. which I believe is 7.8
note.. I got the above information from
http://wmpoweruser.com/windows-phone-7-8-update-now-on-zune-regardless-of-carrier-and-model/
This also seems to work on my HTC Radar, but I haven't finished patching it yet. I will post the instructions on the HTC Radar forum.
What firmware did you end up with?
No matter how many times i try to do this method it just isnt working for me, which leads me to believe the update has not yet been pushed to my area.
Worked for me on ATT, it's all about the timing (took three tries to get it to work). I would recommend using the disable adapter method, as it's much easier to disable quickly.

disable adapter?
Open your adapter settings in the OS, after you click the update button in Zune right click on the adapter and click "Disable"
The last fast ring update I know I had on my HTC M8 (registry hacked to think it's a Lumia 950) was Redstone 10.0.14915.1000, which has been working just fine for a couple weeks now. Today a new update was pushed to the phone, which must have been the latest fast ring (Redstone 10.0.14926.1000). However, after I rebooted the phone to install the update after it finished installing it rebooted itself again (as expected) but now just continuously reboots. I have to perform the factory hard reset using the volume keys to get the phone to shut down totally. But when I start it again it just goes into the continuous reboot scenario again.
Anyone know if there's a way to recover from this? I really don't want to have to use the Windows Device Recovery Tool to go back to Win8.1 and start all over again if I can help it.
Too impatient. I went ahead and used the recovery tool to go back to Win8.1 Update 2. Oh, joy!
You're not alone brother. Hit mine this morning, luckly I woke up without my alarm, but 30 minutes late. Good thing I'm fast in the morning.. Just enough time to restore and head to work. Gonna pop back to the slow ring asap..
I couldn't get it to boot into Windows 10 once it got stuck. I had to use the recovery tool to go back to Windows 8.1 but didn't realize they have since pulled the Windows Insider support for the HTC so now I can't even get the phone to upgrade to the Win10 Insider Preview build. My previous method was to side-load Interop Tools for Win10 after upgrading to Win10 via the Insider Preview app and then I hacked the registry to trick the phone into thinking it's a Lumia 950. Since I can't get back to Win10 I don't know how to edit the registry in Win8.1.
Anyone able to point me to the correct tools for editing the registry in Windows 8.1?
Same thing here .. please if anyone knows a way to backup the data when phone is in that situation share it please .. I can't delete the data on my phone it's too important!! ..
Found Win8-to-Win10 instructions for Lumia but need it for HTC
Well, I found the following post explaining how to update a Lumia back to Win10 after downgrade to Win8: http://forum.xda-developers.com/win...le/installing-windows-10-mobile-tech-t3431454
However, I don't think that will work for an HTC. Basically, I think I just need a way to get to the registry on an HTC w/ Win8 installed and then I should be able to update to Win10.
Just not having any luck finding anything on the forum for hacking the registry on an HTC w/ Win8...

Does the HTC have an SD card? If so, you can try the SD card method rather than the wpinternals one.

Yes it does. I got the following response from another user on a thread I posted under the HTC One M8 for Windows forum. I haven't tried it yet but it looks like a summary of the steps necessary to upgrade the HTC One M8 from Win8 to Win10. Here's the link for anyone else in the same boat:

Since i upgraded to redstone whenever i'm on a call the other party doesn't hear me well (says my volume is too low) but switching to speaker make my voice clear so the hardware is good but there's something wrong with the software
Anyone has a clue to fix it??
which device? have you used win 10 mobile prior without issues or did you go from 8.1 to redstone directly? in the last case its a hardware problem cause 10 uses the mics different than 8
but tbh i sometimes have the same issues since redstone, not always, but sometimes (with my unsupported 920, worked fine with th2, but rs1 sometimes ****s it up. not a real problem for me cause i use my headset most of the time)

it's a lumia 920 yeah it worked perfectly with 8.1 and 10 th1 and th2 but the last time i had to reset my phone i went from 8.1 to redstone directly and now the issue is annoting me
there is no way to go from 8.1 to rs1 without using th2 as hop you will always get 10586.107 before you get the latest redstone build when coming from 8.1
you had it before on any redstone build? or is it only appearing since you recovered your phone the last time to 8.1 and updated again?

i change the phone id to lumia 830 and used the insider program and the phone went directely to redstone and since that the problem exist
sorry i dont believe that, last time i had to recover my device (about 2 months ago) i did the same (cause upgrade assistant does not work) and as usual it used the th .107 as hop to rs1
and i use 830 values too for my 920

i did that a long time ago and my intention was to get back on th2 but nothing worked other than the fast ring which lead to redstone directely a lot of issues that i'm trying to solve.
if you want th2 now (which i dont recommend cause rs1 runs much better on the 920) -> recover to 8.1. update to latest 8.1 version. jump into the release preview ring, install that update. will bring you to the mentioned 10586.107. after doing that update immediately leave the insider program, revert the spoofed id and search for updates. will bring you to the latest th2 version from novembers patchday

i hard bricked my phone and i'm in the process to recover it
tell me the steps you did to change the phone id so i make sure i get th2 before upgrading to redstone
use wpinternals to flash the engineering bootloader for the device, thats the only way to get to 10 again after they removed the old devices from the insider programm.
so do the recovery, update it , use wpinternals to flash the engineering bootloader, start the device in massstoragemode, load the structure of the SYSTEM regfiles into regedit on your pc. spoof the device id, reboot the phone, get into the insider program and choose the release preview ring. it will bring you to .107 (if you wanna stay on th2 do what i have written before), and after that it brings you to the latest rs1. then do a hardreset just to be sure and config your device as usual. to get glance back working on it check the thread here about it
Hello, i hope this is the right category for my problem.
I got an old Lumia 640 RM-1077 for fun. Windows Update and Store are not working anymore and so i wonder if it would be possible to update to windows 10.
So i downloaded the patched OTC updater from this forum. the device is factory reset and put into flight modus.
The OTC updater works, downloads the files and transfers to the phone, the update prepares but after some minutes and self restart it says update could not proceed.
what am i doing wrong or ist this not the right way?
thanks for any help.
This thread was posted on my Bday, so I see it as a gift lol, but I'm up to 1703 and I want to know if I can get up to 1904 or is 1703 as it far as it goes?
