Hi all, It's been a while since Android Pie is released, It will take atleast a year for the official update to arrive... But any developers working on Custom Roms based on Pie ?
Yes. Go down to Development.

Yes, if you use the right media player. Been discussed several times.
There is even one that works with. QUAD DAC and streaming audio, but it's a paid app.

That's a shame. I really like the manual mode on LG cam. I guess I'll wait ( lot) for the official update.
Is it possible that the V30S gets pie forts and the ROM can be ported?

Nothing needs to be ported from the V30S/V30+/V30. Are you perhaps thinking of the V35?
Any KDZ for US998 V30 works on V30S and vice versa. V30S is US998R (for more RAM):
* US998 V30 64GB/4GB RAM,
* US998U V30+ 128GB/4GB RAM,
* US998R V30S 128G/6GB RAM.
V30S is just a V30+ with more RAM. This is why WTF bootloader exploit also works on V30S.
They'll probably all get Pie the same time. But if the V30S does get Pie "first", then every US998 can immediately flash it.

Yes, I was thinking of the V35, my mistake.
LG put out so many versions of this phone sometimes I get confused.
Anyway, I think I'll wait for the official version to come out. I fine with Oreo, just wanted to try something fresh.
Thanks a lot!

I'm betting on Q2 2019 for non-Korean carrier V3O. Just like earlier this year for Oreo. They say Q1, which is ridiculous. Korean carrier V30 might receive in Q1, but the rest will be at least Q2.
And they say V40 is getting Oreo in Q4 2018. Ha! That's not true. That would be in the next month and there's not even beta yet.
That site doesn't understand reality.

Translation: LG will keep pushing out the release dates because that's what LG does.
The fact that their flagship, v40, does not have Pie right now is downright embarrassing.

While this does sound great, it does sound a bit too great imo. The article doesn't say if it was announced, or even rumoured from the inside - it's just their own speculation. Nevertheless, hope it pans out.
There's no way we're getting Nougat. Also 1GB is a bit too low for Nougat. I hope I'm wrong though. I noticed that they "expect" OP2 and X to get Nougat, but it's widely known by now that they're doomed in terms of official software updates.
I don't think we're getting nougat update at all. They've released many devices after spirit with mm on them ,so they'll prioritize them first and lg never gave more than a single os update to their mid range devices.
LG Stylo 2, that phone got Nougat update, but hw is a bit same with spirit, also there are config files in kernel. They could made it as I was managed to boot Nougat on Spirit! :d
I just checked the update and there's an update for my H930DS (Indonesia/IDN), its V10i-DEC-30-2017. Does anyone already had installed this update? How's the update compare to the previous version (V10f), what are the improvements here? Especially the battery life?

The same update seems to have been pushed out to H930DS phones for the HKG firmwares.
Interestingly, for these phones the version number is v11m - this is the first time I've seen LG use 11 in a firmware version.
(the firmware is Android 7.1.2 with the January security update)

Is it the same size as the IDN firmware update? only security update or is there any improvement? I dont want to screw up the-currently-great-battery-life. My previous LG G4 had better battery life before the latest update.
In India, we got the same update few day ago and it's just a security patch update which will bump it to January. And the battery backup remains the same.
Our updated version is V10d-IND
Just got this update on my V30+. Says V11m-DEC-29-2017
Size 773.87mb.
Not sure what phone usability and functionality has been improved. Would be nice to have a detailed explanation.

Biggest change in 1 January update is Netflix HDR video fix, now Netflix works fine for me on my LG V30+ H930DS HKG version. that was only complaint I had with V30 cuz I bought for multimedia. Camera on V30 is crap, worst on any 2017 flagship phone but I can live with that as I've also Pixel 2 XL and iPhone X.

I hope we will receive oreo next..
Personally I think Oreo will come perhaps 1-2 months after the G6 launch.
I still see Motorola using the Android 7 v 8 comparison between the phones as a marketing ploy.

Consider this:

Oreo != Treble. We won't get treble.
Lenovo screwed us over, stock-ish Android but no major updates or improvements other than security patches. I will never buy another one of their phones again that's for sure. Next device will probably be a Android One device like the Nokia 7 Plus.

Yes i think it's planned but LG has not released communication about.
The update to Android 9 is accredited by almost all the web titles and logically (with the factory 8.1 version since its launch) should be updated to at least a new one next version.

You are talking about LG stock firmware feature for Android 10. We don't have that and never will.
It's not just vanilla "Android 10". Maybe AOSP devs can add that feature in their "Android 10" ROMs?
I am not a developer, just was able to follow ChazzMat's guide to get Pie and root..
So, if something is not officially provided by LG for V30, it cannot be ported from its younger brother, V50?
I really don't know, is that what you are saying?
I thought lg confirmed android v10 for v30s? Or way it just from some random blog?

Yeah, random blog thing where they don't really know what they are talking about. I read that months ago and got excited, then re-read it and realized they didn't quote any LG sources -- it was their own speculation based on flawed reasoning.
LG V30 (all variants) launched with Nougat and get the two OS upgrades LG always gives. Oreo. Pie.
Plus LG signed Google Enterprise Recommended Device agreement which promised 90 day security updates for two years + one OS update. However, that agreement was predicated on being on Oreo. So, that OS update would be Pie. Once on Oreo, we did start getting more timely updates for awhile and now MOST have Pie. (A few still don't.) Maybe once everyone gets on Pie we will start getting 90 day security updates again? But the two year window ends around mid-year 2020, if the clock started once on Oreo.
The flawed reasoning of that blog for Android 10 was because ONE V30 variant was released in 2018 with Oreo: V30S. So, they thought since the 2018 G7 and V40 are getting Android 10, that the V30S would also. NO.
The V30S was a marketing gimmick by LG to try to compete with the early 2018 Galaxy S9/S9+ which had the new Snapdragon 845. Samsung had exclusive rights to that for a few months. So, LG re-released Snapdragon V30+ with 6GB RAM (and Oreo) and tried to claim it was a "new" phone with "ThinQ" AI cam! It wasn't. It was merely V30 updated to Oreo prior to going on sale vs all the other V30 which then got the SAME "ThinQ" Oreo update a couple months later. All V30 on Oreo or later are ThinQ -- V30S was just first. The only difference for the V30S is it has more RAM.
V30S was RELEASED with Oreo already installed -- but was not LAUNCHED with Oreo. If it was LAUNCHED with Oreo it would have Treble. All NEW phones with Oreo (or later) are required to have Treble. V30S does NOT have Treble, nor does any V30 have Treble. Besides the name (V30S) this lack of Treble proves the V30S was an already-existing phone not bound by Oreo requirements for new phones.
Yet, the 2018 G7, V35, V40 all have Treble because they were indeed new phones LAUNCHED with Oreo. Those three phones are eligible for Pie and Android 10. (They already have Pie.)
2018 V30S is a remodeled house, not a brand new house. It's still a V30 "Joan" Snapdragon 835 phone -- a series which LAUNCHED with Nougat and has received all the OS updates promised to it.
Having said that, there's no law that says LG can't give Android 10 to any phone they wish -- V10, V20, V30... But LG doesn't make any money creating, testing, rolling out updates for old phones. They make money selling new phones.
