hi there! I've tried everything, from searching for a file called lpm to others like "charge", "chr" and, of course, through fastboot, but none worked/couldn't find those files.
anyone has the answer for this? it's "simple", I've lost my power button, even bought a new one and it didn't work. i just wanna plug the charger to make the Android boot itself. I wanna stop doing that thing with the battery (unplugging it, plugging in the USB cable, then putting the battery again, etc).
I'm waiting for the moment when the battery will burn out or worst, the smartphone will stop working because of it.
any ideas about which file we should look for and what to edit in it?
thx!
Does reflashing the ROM not fix it? reflashing the stock rom should replace all files on the system partition. Else, this is beyond my knowledge/ I don't know where these files are at.

I tried to make an update with the file JASJAR_WWE_11353_137_10301
Suddenly the Display stop et 99% of the extended Rom Update and on my monitor was an infomation like "an error happend"
After this, nothing else happend .
Yes, realy nothing happens anymore. I cant start the device not with power, not with reset or with power+reset
nothing nothing nothing
What can i do
If i start to try a new update, it schows me no information about what rom etc. is installed or what will be installed. if i then start i get the notice, that it is the wrong device.
Help me please. ist there any way to put the mda back to live?????
I guess i dont only need an update but the complete software
HELP!!!
I have the exact same issue after the upgrade. Nothing will happen. I spent several hours trying resets, combination of button pressed, removed battery, resets, just to try to get back the boot loader mode but nothing is happening.
there has to be a way to do this and I hope someone on this board had that issue before and got it resolved.
I had a similair issue with my old XDA II, it turned out my storage card was corrupted. Use a card reader to check your storage card is OK, perhaps format the storage card (having saved any data first of course) and see how you fare
Have had the same problem wirh a radio ROM update on my QTEK9000. The anly thin that still worked was the hard reset. After the hard reset the device still did not respond. But when i connected it to the PC I could start the updateprocess of the original ROM. I took about 20 minutes for the whole procedure and than the Qtek9000 was back in factory default (Pffff and I could breath again).
So perhaps you can try a hard rest and then connect aganin to the PC.
I allready tried this!
But nothing happens.
Even if i put the power device or the usb into the mda, no LED schows anything. just sometimes the LED is red for not more than a minute. if it then goes out, i get the message "Unknown usb device" in my PC
Are you in bootloeader mode? Do you see the words USB or Serial on the screen of the Universal in Portrait mode. Note: Backlight is off so you have too look real hard, but it should be there
no, i see nothing.
I had quite a hard time yesterday while upgrading. The bootloader is very hard to see, use a torch to lite up your display. In portrait view on the top should be the word serial or usb, on the bottom v1.00.
I also did a hard-reset in this stage, but it just returned to the bootloader menue.
If I connect to the PC and the device is recognized I see the word serial in the display change to USB. For me I do not know the reason but my PC did not want to fulfill the upgrade process. Needed to take another PC (Laptop) to solve the problem. After the upgrade of the ROM, You still need to upgrade the Radio (this was my experience) before a cold-reset will put You back to business.
Good luck.

Having the exact same problem as gary_b and having performed quite a few upgrades, I can confirm there is absolutlely nothing on the screen. The unit will not go into bootloader mode or even able to do a hard reset. It is not recognized when plugged in the USB.
When connected to power and the hard reset procedure is done, the red charging light will come up for less than 1/2 seconds and disappear.
I tried all different combination to make it boot but nothing. If I could at least get it to bootloader more, I can revive it.
Feel very bad I cannot help here.
I was wondering Yesterday about one thing. IF, during all this upgrading process, the battery runs out, (as it does not seem to charge during upgrade process) will it show bootloader screen ?
Would it be possible to get a loaded battery from somebody to check yours ?
That is a good suggestion to try out, but I have been unable to find anyone that has that device. It might be simply a drained battery.
Mine got corrupted I think at the end of the upgrade right after I did a regular reset instead of teh power and reset procedure.
However, I would think that even with no battery in, the unit should power back up when plugged in no?
Maybe an idea for somebody who is doing upgrading now, and is in bootloader status anyway.
Take out the battery, but connect with USB to PC with ASync. Does the bootloader state show ?
I am sorry to not do it for myself, if You saw my desperate state Yesterday, You will believe that I am not willing to see that bootloader screen for some time, sorry.

now i know what to do:
Nothing!!
I went to a service-point with my mda pro and there was nothing to do with it.
If this happens the complete memory is "killed". Like "format c:" and while format is running you switch out the power.
Thanks god: I got a new MDA pro because i did not tell them (in the store)that i tried an update!
But i called the service-line before anf they told me that there is nothing to do!
But thx
Wow, can't say that this is good informatuin for those with this problem, but very glad it worked out for You.
I ve had this problem 5 minutes ago. Finally a took out the battery. Then connect to AC and Red led is on. Then i put the battery, tried hard reset and message to confirm hard reset in the screen (wellcome to life, jasjar). Then i run radio update again and it's upgrading rigth now....buffffff
I almost suffered a heart attack when this happened an hour ago. Have found that the update works fine if the SD card is taken out... phew.
What would be the most likely reason an Evo wouldn't charge?
Here's my situation:
I've been flashing nightlies for a while. Figured that might be the problem so I restored to an older version. Won't charge. Won't even turn on the orange LED when the phone is off. If I pull up the bootloader at this point, the battery is too low for me to do anything. I've tried charging it from numerous outlets, my computer in multiple USB ports, and my PS3. I don't know what's going on. When I woke up this morning the battery was at 93% and the phone wasn't charging, but I figured the extension cord just got jarred in the middle of the night or something. Any ways any suggestions?
Update: Took it to a Sprint store and asked a guy to try putting in a different battery. He said it booted up and that it was charging, so it appears that might be the problem. Does anyone know how to force my phone to charge THIS battery, or at least what might have caused this?
Update: Turns out this is what's called a 'bricked usb', however, I can't figure out how to fix it. I've done some things with files on a terminal emulator, as well as trying to do stuff in fastboot (I don't think my computer can recognize the phone in fastboot). My phone doesn't recognize ANY usb activity- right now the way I'm charging it involves hotwiring USB leads to the battery. It won't charge when it's off, and I don't think it's recognized in fastboot (when I type 'fastboot oem boot' it says waiting for device and doesn't do anything.
Check cable and charger. It could be the port tho
I"m having the same issue
how did you fix it?
if the sprint guy put a different battery in it and it started charging just fine, then the battery is your problem. YOUR battery may have either fried, or has drained so low that it's unable to take a charge. Sprint techs can "boost" your battery so it will start charging again, or ebay has batteries for extremely cheap. like a few dollars.
I'm having this problem too. Tried new ebday batteries, and the battery life still SUCKS! What's going on!?
Right now I'm trying to get some sort of charged battery life, unroot, and take it in.
how can i unroot the phone if i dont have access trhu the usb?

Take the memory card out of the phone, mount to a pc, via card adapter, download the unrevoked s-on tool, flash it in recovery.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19699565/3.70 RUU Zip.zip
Rename the file to PC36IMG, while memory is in the pc, drag it over. Place the file on the root of your sdcard, boot into the bootloader, then apply the update. You'll be s-on, stock unrooted.
i was able to flash PC36IMG, but when i try to flash the s-on tool all i get is a phone with a triangle when i select recovery
what am i doing wrong?
Im Not sure exactly what happened here, I've been flashing for nearly a year now a variety of ROMs, and this last time seems to have been fatal.
I went from a custom ROM, did the routine task29 before loading a new ROM; the task29 completed, I returned to bootloader to load the new ROM, and it wouldnt load past 0%. I tried to task29 again, and then that wouldnt load past 0%.
I've since tried mtty and doing set 14 0, task 29, task 8, which restarts it, but now I can no longer manually power it on by pressing hardware keys anymore.. I have to leave it plugged into USB and wait for it to auto-turn itself on after about 5 mins, it loads to "Touch Pro 2" screen, then I can press the little reset button and hold down vol key to get to bootloader. However, it only lasts there about 10 second before turning itself off again, showing the orange light like it's charging. Sometimes I am quick enough to get any ROM or manual HardSPL to try and load at bootloader, but it still sits at 0%.
I have also tried to load a ROM from the SD card, which seems maybe the only option how; however, I have heard you need at least 50% battery, and I have no way to see how much battery I have left, or whether its even charging.
I tried to install from SD yesterday, and got to the gray "Loading" screen, and it just sat there.. I wasnt sure how long it normally takes at that screen, so i powered it off, checked my SD card and now that shows as corrupt and cannot even be formatted... pretty much burnt out as well now, it seems.
Did I do the SD card installation right, using my RHODIMG.nbh file at the root? How long does it normally sit at the Loading screen? I have an 8GB mini-sd I could load from, but I dont want it to burn out as well..
Are there any other options?? I cant even send back to warranty, I dont think, because I cant even load back on the stock ROM or relock it...
Moved to Rhodium General forum because not a cooking problem.
Someone please help... I just tried again to load stock ROM from SD card, as well as custom, it just sits on "Loading..." on the gray screen...
Just for the record, I can get into bootloader, but as of now nothing will load past 0%.
I tried mtty set 14 0, task 29 and task 8, no luck...
I'm certainly not an expert, but just thought I'd throw out a few ideas.
Have you tried charging the phone on the wall charger (not USB) for several hours (like overnight). The fact the phone is powering off by itself suggests that you may be low on battery. USB won't charge the battery sufficiently in some cases of extreme low battery. Try another battery or charge if possible.
Having the RHODIMG.nbh file in the root of your micro-SD card is the correct way to boot from the card. Normally, it doesn't matter if there are other files on the card. But formatting it can't hurt at this point.
Only other thing I can think of, is try to re-flash the radio first, and see it that helps. That's all I can offer up at this point. I was going to suggest trying to flash the stock ROM, but you've already thought of that in your latest post.
Good luck!

Thanks for the response; I just tried that (flashing the radio) and it didnt work. Ive also tried flashing a variety of ROMs and nbh files over SD;
It always seems to freeze at the gray "Loading..." screen and get no further.

Try using a different USB cable to flash via the PC. If you try the SD route again, some users report that using a NON-SDHC card solves the flashing problem. Give that a shot and then report back. I can't really think of anything else offhand.

I have tried again using a 512 MB SD card and it still hangs at the "Loading..." screen.
Also, when flashing with any USB cable, I am still stuck at just 0%.. I can get into the bootloader, etc, but it just refuses to flash any image..
Let me start off by saying I was flashing a different rom, kernel, flashable zip with all my user apps, and gapp(all via philz recovery, clean wipes only ). I pushed reboot and the screen went black and did not reboot. Attempting to power the phone on, boot to recovery, or to download mode and the phone is completely unresponsive. I tried plugging it into a computer and going through my files saved on the phone, the computer will not recognize the phone, or charge. If anyone could send me a thread that could point me in the right direction would be great. Thanks.
Here's a good place to start once download mode and recovery are unavailable: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2549068
You need to find a debrick image that matches the bootloader you had on your phone. The files might not necessarily be linked in that thread, but it details the method.
Good luck
Much appreciated who knows when how long that might take if it all. I also did forget to mention im on the NJ1 boot loader. But oddly enough I just had my battery itself charging in wall charger seperatw from the phone. I Read earlier that there are instances where the battery has to be full for the phone to reboot. I plug it into the udb on my computer leave and come back the red led light is on but the battery falls out because I didnt put the back cover back on, still won't reboot or turn on now. Still not recognized by my computer.
Hello guys, hope anybody here had this problem and was able to solve it.
I have a GT-I9082L from a friend here.
The phone won't boot, he was using the phone and suddenly it got crazy and started vibrate non stop.
When he tried to turn his phone on, it goes to the samsung initial logo (the one that display the model, at the very start), and reboot. It keeps doing this.
So I decided to flash the stock firmware via Odin, it was sucessful. The phone was working fine while it was with the usb plugged in (right after I flashed the FW).
When I unplugged the USB, the phone restarted and came back to the same problem.
I decided to flash again, same problem. It keeps running just fine but as soon as I remove the usb cable, the same thing happens, reboot and reboot.
I think the phone is not being able to keep the files in the internal storage. Somehow when I unplug the cable, it seems to erase all files inside.
Does anybody had the same problem? Or somthing similar?
What should I do?
Works on any power source
Guys, when I plug any power source it works. I think it is not being able to keep the energy from the battery. But the battery seems to work fine since when I plug it the battery icon shows as charging correctly.
