My Pixel 2XL has had terrible battery life recently, and Accubattery tells me that my estimated capacity is around 3000 mAh.. I'm considering getting a replacement from Verizon since my family has the insurance plan, but does anyone know if Verizon is still replacing phones with Google versions? My first replacement (current phone) was one directly from Google, which allowed me to unlock/root, etc. Just wanted to see if anyone had replaced recently before I make up my mind!

The last replacement from Verizon was definitely locked...I'll go through Google if you want a unlocked one that's what I did when I ran out of replacements from Verizon and completely free btw.

Turns out Google can't send me the replacement first, so I'd be stuck 5-10 days without a phone... Ended up going with Verizon's replacement, but I guess we'll test my luck when it comes to bootloader unlockability.
How much was the replacement by Verizon? You could've gotten the battery replaced for $79.99 at ubreakifix store.

I thought about that option, but then I wouldn't have a technical IP rating. Also because the replacement from Verizon was free, since I'm within the two year manufacturer warranty. I figured I may as well test my luck with a certified refurbished unit, just fingers crossed it's unlockable.
Free beats $79.99. Would've done the same thing.

Standard. They almost always replace with refurbished units.
Yeah it will just be refurbished. Just like at some point someone will send theirs in and get your phone that u sent in just that fixed up

Sounds like you are getting a refurbished device. Typically they were owned by another customer at one time and returned. Verizon usually makes sure it works okay then sends it out as a refurbish. They are pretty much as good as a new one, for the most part, more or less, kind of okay, etc.

If you are still within the return period then try to return it for a new one. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it too much - the refurb phones most likely go through even more stringent quality inspection than the off the line production phones.

Seems like a raw deal - pay for a new phone, it has a defect, take it back, get a used phone as a replacement

I typically prefer refurbished devices (of anything, not just phones) You are basically getting a device that spent a few days with a quality control inspector who pointed out flaws that were later fixed.
I'm not on Verizon, but if there is a limited time to return the phone, and you are still within that time period, demand a new one.
i paid full price ($649 US) for my GNEX and had an issue with the screen. i took it back to Verizon and requested an exchange for a new one. the tech i spoke with was very nice but was dragging his feet. i reminded him (respectfully) that if he declined the exchange, i would simply return it (still in the initial return period), pay the restocking fee and then buy a new one. i spent the last 4 months dealing with problems on the Bionic and wasn't about to let Verizon screw me again. he agreed to exchange it for a new one at that point. of course, another option would have been to simply drive to a different store and try again.
if you purchased your phone from Verizon, i think you have an extended holiday period until 15 january to return/exchange it. i wouldn't accept a refurb within the first week since you paid full price.
Go to a Verizon. They replaced mine in store with a brand be one

Hi, so today I have received my G4 back from being away for around 2 weeks for repair after experiencing the bootloop however now the phone doesn't boot into android. When I turn the phone on it shows the LG splash screen but then shows a logo for miniOs and shows a blue screen saying "Factory Reset Status" with a number 2.
Is there anyway I can fix this or do I need to send it back to LG for another 2 weeks?
Thanks
If I were you I'd be incredibly pissed and call them back as soon as I can. They're supposed to fix the phone, not return it broken. I bet that "fix" cost you a few hundred dollars too?

Luckily it was under warranty so it didn't cost anything however still very pissed, also their website doesn't allow me to email them as it constantly says search for model even though the model is already in. See a few reports about LG UK repairs being ****.
Not LG's fault but when it was being delivered it was suppose to arrive yesterday but the delivery came earlier and ignored request for it to be delivered to neighbours.

I can't be bothered with LG anymore. I bought it from Amazon and they will take it back and refund me the money. Now I am ordering Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Done with LG for good. They really have gone the wrong way about customer service. How can you expect someone to buy a phone for £450 and ask them to wait 3-4weeks and not offer replacement.

Maybe different where you are. Its not like that with either Samsung or Apple where i am. Apple does not have official stores here , they operate through resellers. Who offer extended warranties. If you have one of those you will get a replacement. Samsung i'm not sure will do this.
The kicker is after one year is up, nobody cares. Just one year warranty where i am.
is the main reason you want a replacement that you do not have a back up phone ?
My back up phone is a blackberry and I can't keep switching from one to another every time LG decide to give me another broken refurb phone. Which is locked to 5.1 probably because Marshmallow is a phone breaker for LG. Anyhow, don't care now. Samsung arrived. Good riddance LG. Wont be going for them anymore. Good luck to all of you with bootloops and issues with service centres. Life's good without LG in my pocket.

I originally decided I wanted this phone for Christmas, but then I saw it was out of stock. I'm on the wait list, signed up for nowinstock.com to alert me - I've waited a while, and it still isn't restocked. The battery on my 5x is terrible, and i can only use my phone very lightly because of it. Is it worth waiting until the pixel restocks? I really don't want to settle, but I also won't know 100% how good the phone is until I actually buy it. Also, I will not buy it from Verizon (I don't want to be locked down and get bloatware, and I use at&t).
Does anyone know how long until there is a restock? It will take 3-4 weeks to let alone ship, so I wonder how long I'll be waiting to order in the first place. That "out of stock" every time I check is making me hopeless D:
I was in the same boat in November but the wait list never sent me an email. I ended up using nowinstock.com and got a notification from them in a day or 2 and bought one. You have to be Johnny on the spot though, by the time I finished up the checkout process and went back to Google devices site they were sold out again. I never did get an email from Google's wait list.

I never got a waitlist email from google either. But I manually checked daily for about 10 day period in November and finally caught them available. Only took a couple days to ship.
Keep checking, seems like they get restocked periodically.

I use that site too. It's been a long time and still nothing, and it says they last restocked November 30th. That's over a month. I guess it will be a long wait I check daily just in case as well, and nothing.
The Verizon thread says they are finally seeing some deliveries (some had been pre ordered since Oct) . But, I wonder if the Google store has put a little hold on the pixels to play whack a mole with some of the issues.

Well when you order through Verizon, the Pixel XL 128GB (all colors) have a ship date of February 17th, so I guess that means it'll be a while!
You might also keep an eye on Swappa and eBay. That's what I'm doing. I have a 32GB, but may make the switch to a 128GB. Not that I probably need it, since I can backup all my pics and videos at full resolution, but I always have to have the biggest a s best. LOL.
From what I'm told by a very reliable source at Google, they've been feeding Verizon with the bulk of all 2 million Pixels that will/have been manufactured. 128GB NAND is just very hard to source.
If you're paying full retail price, you could check the Fi store. You don't need to activate Fi as long as you pay full price of the phone (otherwise, if you're financing and buy thru Fi, you have to activate within 30 days or else you'll be billed the entire cost of phone).
That's how I got my black 128GB XL. I had been on that waitlist for a while. I think I still am lol and never got an email. But the Fi stock comes and goes certainly more often.

Got my 128gb slate gray from Verizon it's back ordered now but the blue one is shipping right away. The rest are anywhere from Jan 17 to Feb. I broke my pixel XL last night, I slipped and fell on the ice and landed on my phone in jacket pocket and bent my phone. Now no wifi or Bluetooth everything else works so it is not a worst case scenario. My question is when I get a new one will it have the latest update? I am hoping that I can unlock it.
I saw a thread on here where a guy was trying to get a pixel XL warrantied through Google . I wonder if I should try that.
It depends when the phone was factory sealed. If its after the update then you will have the newest update, otherwise not.

If you get a replacement through Verizon you must have insurance right? Which would be with Asurion. It will be a refurbished device which is no big deal.. and it should more than likely be on 7.1.
The box isn't sealed in any way so now reason not to open it. I would open it, take sim out, skip WiFi during setup, and then unlock right away. Lots of people have been receiving new from Verizon this week and every one of them was still on the Oct security update.

I think its a $149.00 co pay. Unless they raised it, which is possible since these pixel xl's are more expensive than previous models of comparable phones.
Alright... so this is a long story, but I needed some input to see if anyone has some suggestions. The whole story starts in November around Thanksgiving. I ordered a Pixel XL through Verizon. Sometime Mid-January I actually received the thing and it seemed to be going great. Until the battery stopped charging reliably and randomly just dropping 15% or so in about a minute. I called Verizon and they would replace the device, but had no idea when I could expect a new one. I then called Google. Google said since I got the device from Verizon they would only offer a "Standard Exchange" and not an Advanced. They "claimed" it was something about not having some random information, despite me offering to provide any information or even pay for the device until the got it back. They still refused, but since they had the devices in stock I sent my phone away to be replaced.
Fast forward about 4 and a half weeks (including MANY emails and phone calls) I finally got my device. During those 4 weeks I got numerous stories from Google about how my replacement was sent and then returned to them (but they didn't have tracking information), was sent and to be received the next day (this time they sent me tracking information for the return and not any replacement), and the stories go on... It would have been funny if it wasn't so depressing how disorganized and inept they seemed to be.
I swapped my sim card and my phone worked for about 5 days until today. It stopped working and said I needed to activate it. I called Verizon and they said the device couldn't be activated because it didn't exist in their system. This is RMA device from Google was marked as a Verizon device and had a Verizon Sim in it when I received it from Google.
The Verizon rep called Google. The Google 1st tier was clueless, and got a 2nd tier. He was also clueless. He kept saying that the devices were unlocked. He was surprised it even had a sim card in it when I got it. He then transferred me to a 3rd tier who said we should replace the device, but again because I didn't buy it from Google they would only offer a standard replacement (yes.. the same replacement that took 4 weeks before).
He offered to "escalate it", whatever that means. Verizon can't replace the phone because they have no record of this device... Google will only replace it in about 4 weeks... and I have a device I can't use....
Honestly I'm not even sure what to do. The Verizon lady told me that Google is supposed to register the phones with them but they didn't. Even Google admitted that this was their problem, but still will only offer a standard replacement.
Anyone had an experience like this? Anything I can do?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3552032
I had a similar situation, read through this thread. Basically Verizon should communicate with Google to have the IMEI of the device added to their network then it can be activated.

Yeah. I printed the smart post label on a Sunday and posted that Monday. It took 3.5 weeks for them to receive and process my phone. Then 3 days to ship and 3 days in transit. So a little over 4 weeks to actually get my phone.
Yeah they never waited until mine got there. Actually my replacement got to me before my phone got to them. Not sure if me having a Google Financing account had anything to do with it.
