Now I know that the WF is listed on the Gorilla Glass official page as a product with gorilla glass, but I'm just not sure, because when I hit it with my fingernail it sounds plastic-y. (is it because of the screen protector?)
So, I'm asking if there's a way to see if my phone has GG without taking of the protector?
Some say it has and some say it doesn't. Even there is a YouTube video where a Guy used knife on the screen to prove that wildfire has gorilla glass. And there is another YouTube video where its screen broken on falling from half meter height.
Mine too gives plastic sound when I tap on the screen.

Hmmm.... I guess they made a batch with gorilla glass and a batch with plastic :S
I just asked on HTC Online Chat, the consultant confirmed that it has Gorilla Glass
But, how can you explain the plastic-y tap noise? :S
I don't know, didn't asked about it, but I will try to test it in next days.
Plastic sound here too, sucks it does not affect usability for me because i treat my hardware good, my wildfire is almost 1 year old (me being the only user), not a single scratch on it , but feels cheap

I don't hear a plastic sound when I tap on mine.
And yeah, I use my **** very good, not a single scratch and using for over a year now.
Not when you tap, but try to slightly kick the screen with your finger nail, thats when u hear it..

Wildfire have gorilla glass:
http://www.corninggorillaglass.com/products-with-gorilla/htc
I checked that page, but I'm just not sure if MY wildfire has gorilla glass, because when I tap the screen with my nail it produces a plastic-y noise
Check this out:

I can now confirm it has gorilla glass, because my screen protector got some air pockets in, so I had to remove it and now I had it for 1 week without and not a single scratch
mine is plastic i have drop it and theres a very small almost invisible scratch on the screen
Guys Gorrila glass comes as standard on our wildfire

Hi guys,
Please do not confuse with display type and the glass on top of it. Super LCD2 is a display type just like LCD, IPS LCD(LG), AMOLED, SuperAMOLED Plus etc. Manufacturers may choose a glass on top of it like ordinary glass, mineral glass (some sony phones), gorilla glass (a brand manufactured by corning). Sometimes they just give scratch-resistant glass in specifications without mentioning the make (even corning may provide some other glass which is not from the famed "gorilla glass" series)
So to answer the original question - I have not seen HTC mentioning anywhere that One V has scratch-resistant glass, which means it may or may not have one. Only HTC will be able to confirm it or the OEM supplier will have to announce it.
And yes the display type is SLCD2 and that's the reason for its excellent display clarity, but it has nothing to do with the glass.
Hope that's clear
Thanks
Hi dear
Just wonder do you know what is made the front glass of this device?
Do we really need the screen protector?
Is it gorilla glass?

Glass?
anyone? information?
No screen protection, according to GSM Arena... But being that they didn't get the resolution correct in their specs (1920 x 1080 instead of 2560 x 1600), not sure if I would trust their info completely. Other sites are saying it uses Gorilla Glass 3.
http://www.handheldwar.com/samsung/samsung-galaxy-note-10-1-2014-edition-full-specifications/
Samsung also just purchased an additional 7.4% stake in Corning (maker of Gorilla Glass), so its a pretty safe bet to assume all premium Samsung mobile devices use Gorilla Glass.
http://www.androidcentral.com/samsung-acquires-74-percent-share-gorilla-glass-maker-corning
That being said, I always use screen protectors even with Gorilla Glass, as it is scratch "resistant" not scratch proof. I have a few different protectors coming in this week. Going to test them all with the S Pen and will be sure to post my findings.
Thanks a lot in assume that your replay will b helpful to others as well

Personally, I do not use a screen protector on a tablet and will not use one on this device. I do use one on all of my smartphones. For me, it is two drastically different use cases. My smartphone is in and out of pockets, in car holders, can be dropped easily, often used while walking, etc. For me, the tablet is much different. I am typically using the tablet while sitting down and when I'm done the case cover goes back over the screen and it sits. I just don't see the need like I do for a smartphone. I find that it really detracts from the experience on a tablet, especially with the S Pen.

Wait until you drop your tablet, yes, I've done it (on a Note 8.0), and the case and screen protector saved it.
I am sure that dropping it is a possibility. All I am saying is that my use of the tablet is much different than my use of a smartphone and therefore it is a risk I'm willing to take. I still use a case. I am not sure how you know that a screen protector had anything to do with saving the device when you dropped it. For me, the reduction in usability and screen clarity is greater than the risk of damage. Personal preference.

Please. The point I was making, assuming you are talking about the glass not breaking, was how would you know that it would have broken without the protector on? If you were talking about a scratch that is obviously something different.

Since you weren't there, and haven't seen my Note, don't you think you should give me the benefit of the doubt? No matter, it's not worth arguing over, think what you want.

I understand your point, but my usage adds a certain twist to the equation... kids. I have 3 (soon to be 4) under the age of 6. They do occasionally get a hold of the tablet, and the protectors are well worth it.
The screen protector I used on my Note 8 didn't inhibit the S Pen at all, and I'm hoping the ones that should be here this week will work just as well.

i prefer not having a protector on mine also, but they do offer some advantages.
one is that they don't show smudges as much (at least the anti glare don't).
another, is that if you do crack your screen you won't have to worry about shards.
and third is (obviously) scratches.
given that these are pen input devices, getting a grain of sand or other hard material stuck on the tip is easier than you'd think. there are quite a few people scratching their notes (all variants) just from penning and not realizing the nibs have been contaminated.
i may end up getting a protector later b/c once you see a scratch you can't unsee it, lol.
The screen protector saved my phone... and my wallet.

A friend of mine broke her Galaxy S3. It had a screen/scratch protector on it. The guys at the local mobile store I got the phone repaired at, told me that the protector held together the shattered pieces of glass and also prevented that glass from damaging the LCD underneath. It helped them save the LCD underneath and made the whole process of putting a new glass much simpler.
Cost me only a 1000 rupees, which is about $16.
Couldn't find any clear reference to it: does the Mi 5s have Corning glass (like Mi 5), or not?
thanks
It seems has Corning glass but I am not sure.
I used Honour 8 now I am using mi 5s. It seems that their screen touch feel almost the same.

Yes, gorilla glass 4 confirmed:good:
confirmed... where?
gsmarena reviewed the device recently and they say: "Unfortunately, Xiaomi didn't mention any specific glass protection for the screen and we can confirm the Gorilla Glass 4 is gone for good. The Mi 5s acquired lots of big scratches on top of its display just in the week we had it for a review. We suggest that you apply a screen protector on it as soon as you take the phone out of its box."

If you look at the review of Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, and Mi Mix. All of them use the same paragraph. It's like a copy paste job. So I'm wondering if they really do a proper tests on these phones.
Also on JerryRigEverything channel, he did a drop test Mi Mix (who ALSO mentioned no screen protection whatsoever in GSMarena spec) from sitting position, the crack on display was horrible.
I was wondering if Mi 5s would also fail with the same test. In that case, would a case/ screen protector save it?
it seems that the ceramic is harder than glass and because of that the glass breaks.

No it is not, because the Mi 5 uses a completly different Case and also different Glass.
Thats why people ask here because it is nowhere mentioned what glass it exactly is.
Got the Phone for my GF but seems like a sratches pretty fast. but I already have some on my S7E, so no difference.
Hi,
From several posts on the Xiaomi forum, it turns out that the mi5s Plus DOES NOT HAVE GORILLA GLASS but uses a in-house glass hardening from Xiaomi.
I now have the device since 3 weeks and use it as my daily drive.
I doesn't have tempered glass to protect it.
I do not take more than basic precautions (I don't put the phone in my pocket where I have my keys).
After 3 weeks : not a single scratch, even the tiniest one.
Regards.
Hi, guys I have a question about the galaxy note 5 N920A. Is the display or should I say the digitizer screen is a two separate part?
My galaxy note 5 has a crack above and on top of the home button. the display and touch LCD works just fine without any kind of problems whatsoever. the only problem is that the crack seems to be spreading just like a crack windshield, which would soon look like a spider web. I would like to replace the crack plastic without changing the whole display screen:fingers-crossed:
I have check online for the display and to my dismayed the price is something I would like to ventured into. I also did further research and found quite a few which is describe as a panel screen for the display for only $10. So I am kind of confuse could this be also consider to be a tamper glass protector? Need advice please before I buy something that I might regret later on, since I am no novice with phone parts.
Thank you.

Hopefully you got your answer as its been a couple years since you asked, in case you didn't or anyone else thats curious about this, I recently replaced the screen on a Note 5, so have a bit of experience with it.
First to answer your question, a LCD screen and a tempered glass screen protector are 2 very different things. An screen is standard on every phone and is generally what you'd replace when your screen is cracked. On the other hand, a tempered glass screen protector is something you'd get and apply onto your phone's screen to protect it from hard drops onto the cement. They're quite effective depending on various factors but I definitely recommend them, if your screen is flat like the Note 5. Rounded edges screens like the S6 Edge thru S9, though tempered glass are available, reviews show they aren't nearly as effective, due to the "curved" wrap around edges, unfortunately.. Tempered glass screens have saved me a few times, after dropping my device, only the glass screen protector cracked, the phones LCD screen was undamaged. Tore off the cracked glass, $15 later, had a new on there. Small investment for the protection it gives, doubt a screen replacement will ever be around $15-20..
BTW, the Note 5s LCD screen is glass (Gorilla Glass 3, I think?) not plastic, as you mentioned..
Onto the bigger question, if you Google search "Note 5 teardown" you'll find quite a few tutorials w/ pics that breakdown the process, towards the end of them, after they've separated the LCD, you'll notice on back of it, there's a few small components, still attached. All of the teardowns, only mention the remaining removal difficulty is 5/5, the adhesive holding the screen much stronger than the LCD glass itself, though none have attempted the work..
Searching for LCD's on eBay, there's many listings of only the clear LCD glass, nothing else on back of it, which leads me to believe it is possible to do, but whoever attempts this may be the first and only one to have documented it.
If the pro's are semi-sketched from trying it, then, I'll trust their opinion, when replacing a friends Note 5 screen, we found a parts only device and did the swap, complete with all the little components on back.
I still have the rest of the parts, but it had water damage, so logic board is fried.
If anyone needs any other parts, PM me.
