Yes it works for me. I use the intelligent scan, only seems to call up the iris scan for passwords etc. Works well for me.

No I don't have a screen protector fitted. I use a flip cover to protect it when not in use. The glass is scratch resistant so no need for a fitted screen protector.

That would be my word ... But I use this milky protector to have it more "like paper"
I use it as well, works reasonably well in good light. As long as you have the cutouts I wouldn't think that the protector would affect it.
I did notice that when I rescaned after a factory reset it took some work and good lighting but once I did that it seems to work in a fairly wide range of lighting...just not sitting in a darkened living room on the couch watching TV
I second the comment on reasonably well in good light with the caveat "after I take my eyeglasses off".
I've enabled it, but find only a few apps take advantage of it - many fewer than worked with the fingerprint reader on my Tab S2 or S7 Edge. My credit union account app works fine with fingerprint, but doesn't work with the iris scanner.
I use Intelligent Scan, and it works perfectly, even with my contacts in. When I'm wearing my glasses, I do have to lift them, but that's about it.
As for apps usage, we won't see a lot of that until Android Pie rolls out to these devices, as Pie enables the use by apps of biometrics beyond just fingerprints (once the app devs adopt the API)...

Something I probably should have thought about beforehand, is whether or not the squeeze for Google Assistant is able to be turned off or not.

I saw in several video reviews that it can be turned off

Yes. Also not sure how well it works with some case's...
You can also adjust the sensitivity to a pretty granular level. I believe it was Marquees Brownlee's video that highlighted this but I'm not positive as I've watched so many at this point. So if you have a case you can make it more sensitive to ensure it still works well.
Personally, my big concern will be the squeeze feature when you've got both a full coverage glass screen protector installed and a case. I'm afraid that squeezing the case will push the lip of the case into the screen protector and lift the protector. This potential issue will vary from case to case, for sure. Time will tell if this is a valid concern or not.
Personally, I still think that "feature" is kind of gimmicky considering you simply have to hold the home button down to activate assistant anyway. In addition, you can just turn it on by saying "Ok Google".
I'll probably just end up turning the squeeze feature off.

I had U11 for a sweet few weeks and squeeze worked great with several cases and IQ Shield. Doubt if glass would adversely affect it.
Only negative I had was getting squeezed when inserting into car mount.
The devs there had all kinds of hacks to make squeeze more usable:. single squeeze, long squeeze, double squeeze. And custom actions:. Open camera, flashlight, wake, sleep, scroll. And App dependent squeeze:. zoom in on maps or photos, etc. Pretty versatile and I miss it! Sure we'll see some of that if rooted.

Squeeze for camera or flashlight would be amazing! Now I'm looking forward to hopefully getting that in the future.
I found squeeze so annoying that I turned it off. Google Assistant would turn on every time I picked up the phone. I tried adjusting the sensitivity, but then I had to squeeze it too hard to activate Assistant. I don't want to use a $1,000 phone as a grip strengthener.

You have to find the sweet spot. I thought this was stupid but I use it more than long pressing the home button now.
I even try to wake it up by squeezing, which should totally be a thing BTW.

Hi all,
We all know how hard it is to find a good Tempered glass for a smartphone with curving edge display,
That also the case with our Pixel 2 XL
Luckily, finally i managed to found tempered glass that has full adhesive, case friendly, and doesn't break our bank account,
Here's the product : Tempered Glass for Google Pixel 2XL Screen Protector FULL GLUE Case Friendly Premium Screen Glass Protector For Google Pixel2XL
http://s.aliexpress.com/qqYVbYFZ?fromSns=Copy to Clipboard
(from AliExpress Android)
Price : $11.77 include free shipping,
It took week till it arrive to my door. Item shipped from Hongkong, am living in Indonesia
Packaging : its good and safe. Tempered glass placed inside a sterofoam box .
Installation : Now, this is the tricky part, although it has full adhesive, the installation wont go as simple as installing other (ex iPhone) full adhesive TG. It (the adhesive) tends to spread unevenly causing bubble.
The trick is to go from the corner, while keep the other corner floating, press the glass with two or more finger ensuring no bubble appear in the process.
It will take sometimes till you get it right with zero bubble,
But the result is rewarding. It perfectly fit, and can be used with cases as well. I use it with original google fabric case.

It was quite gambling for me as well, lol,
But since i have no other option available in my country, u guess i have nothing to lose for 12 bucks.
Now am waiting a case to arrive
Looks good. I just don't understand why they make the top and bottom black instead of clear if it is full adhesive.
I'm guessing this is the same product as HeroShield. Looks the same. My HeroShield should arrive in a few weeks, so we'll see.
Does it have a cut out for the proximity sensor? I don't mean just a transparent window, proper gap/no glass bit over the sensor. I can't see from the photos
how is the screen feel and oleophobic coating? Does the finger glide eaily on the screen?

Its because although the adhesive on the display area is full, there's lil gap on the edge area where it doesn't have the adhesive, i guess due to the curve, it still not possible to create fully transparent glass protector with full adhesive. I never seen one for popular phone like iphone either. All iphone x glass protector has coloring as well.
The only real transparent protector with full adhesive is whitestone probably, but thats using low viscosity loca to begin with, so its different story, not to mention the skyhigh price.

It doesn't. It have a transparent window with adhesive under . It stick perfectly though, thus no interference to the proximity function. I try make a call and place finger over the sensor, it work normally

Nothing extraordinary regarding the coating i guess. Finger glide nicely just like on original screen. But it collecting fingerprint overtime. (Am one of those guy who have wet hand all the time though, so my experience with fingerprint might be severe than how it should) :silly:
ordered! hope it will arrive soon!
btw do you have to tear it out to re position it when you are applying on the screen?

You need to lift it off if you already stick large area of it prior to reposition,
Positioning is quite easy though, the harder part is to push the glass slow and even.
I'd almost be interested, but I try to stay away from protectors that cover the proximity sensor. I know it works sometimes, I've just been bitten by it too many times on phones where it causes issues.
Here's HeroShield's install video. Seems like they include a squeegee with theirs to help with the bubbles.
Mine comes today, so I'll see what it's like too.

Can see from the video that it has glass covering the sensor, so it will be hit or miss. Some will have no issues with the sensor. Others will.
Mine will be here in a few weeks, so I'll see then too.
Hi OP... Are you able to post some picts of the top and bottom edge of the phone? Or a pict that can somehow show the gap of the side of the protector to where it meets the screen. Just curious to see if there is a slight gap as there is no adhesive there. Since I go case less, I am afraid I will always crack the glass because of this gap. Thanks in advance!
Something like this ?
Those picts are good!!! thanks!!!

Gotta admit, I've never seen anything like this! There has to be a gap of some sort between the screen and the protector, so I wonder how well the screen responds? I'm currently using the sandstone case from OnePlus along with the factory applied screen protector and both are working well for me so far. The price seems fair. So we need some guinea pigs. Looking forward to reading some first hand reviews.
this is a scam. I ordered from one of those ads on facebook. Its the same damn product advertised by different websites (allbort, bowbul, desoor). They are all in china. One on ebay is 7 bucks but these websites charge 21 bucks. I cancelled the order 4 hrs after putting it. Even though they say they will cancel the order if it has not shipped, they didnt cancel and sent me an email 2 days later that they can not cancel it because it has shipped. Then I think well, give me the shipping tracking info. Now they say there is a problem with the post-office. I tried to resolve it with paypal but there were of no help either.

I bought and used one of those two sided tempered glass magnetic screen protector for just short of four months. As soon as I got it I spent time looking for alternate cases but was surprised that I liked it better than my initial impression. At first I thought the back was more slippery than a fish just out of water but that wasn't true even when my hand was sweaty. Note that I'm a two handed phone user.
Every week or so specs of dirt would appear under the screen like with a tgsp that isn't full adhesive. I just opened the cover then use a piece of tape to remove the specs and it looked great again. Unfortunately the weekly clean eventually was the end of that case. Prying the top and bottom apart must have twisted the top as the tempered glass cracked. Within a day I saw a similar crack on the bottom half. So be very careful when you eventually need to remove specs of dirt.
One other draw back of this case is the lack of sensitivity at the very bottom of the screen. If you use Gestures then no matter how high you crank up screen sensitivity in the settings it is not good enough. My solution was to install FNG (Fluid Navigation Gestures) from the playstore. You can set it up for left or right side gestures and the case has enough sensitivity to work reliably.
Oddly enough even though I no longer use the case and have turned down screen sensitivity to normal plus have Android 10 installed (better gestures right in the OOS), I still use FNG. It has more features that I'm not prepared to give up.
Finger print scanner sensitivity was never an issue once I cranked up the settings and re-entered my finger prints.
the case i recieved bent when i was trying to unattach the magnets
These magnetic cases look beautiful until you drop it. It falls apart, is slippery and provides zero protection. I bought one for my previous s10+. Just fell apart and phone flew out and hit the floor. Beautiful dent near the top right edge of the phone.
Thanks everyone for the info. I guess it is not worth it!

I'm curious about FNG, I downloaded and got pro to see if it could replace xposed edge for me for full side navigation. It seems like it might, however I can't get the additional gestures of swipe up and down to work. I have them set as home and recents but nothing happens. Back works just fine, so does menu as backs secondary function. All permissions it asked me are enabled. Any help would be appreciated.
Sorry for being completely off topic.

I'd never used the up/down swipes but gave them a try and they both worked to start an app. At first the gesture was very unreliable. I adjusted the "Sensitivity" slide (in settings on the same page as you assign the swipe action), to half way and then the swipe was perfectly consistent. The sensitivity widened the swipe area farther into the screen. I think any phone case that is close to the screen border makes the swipe area more difficult to contact and be recognized by FNG.
Just bought S22 6.1" and fingerprint scanner is failing a lot with me. My S21 I don't even have to press hard and it is rare to miss with it.

Good to know, never saw the E on galaxy models before. And you have problems the fp sensor? I hated it on S10 models but that was different sensor, the current one worked fine on my S21 and now the S22 sensor is perfect too. I registered twice my right hand thumb and 2x right index finger they both work with even a short touch.

On my S21, it just needed a light touch with a very light press. But now I realize one thing. I did not pill off the screen protector that came with S22. In fact, it is not a screen protector for daily use. Do you think it is the reason fingerprint is worse than s10

yes, that plastic foil wrap won't let the scanner read your fingerprint. It's not optical but rather like a mini radar scanning the print ridges on your finger tip.

S21 came with screen protector, but a real one. Simple but it did the job. And fingerprint worked perfectly. I thought I could keep this upper plastic that came with s22 until my screen protector was delivered. I'm gonna try without it.
I exchanged my S22 yesterday because the fingerprint sensor was failing so often (plus random, 20 minute long network disconnects). I lost my preorder storage upgrade, but the new device works perfectly.

With a screen protector, it failed every time for me.
I'm using the Omotion that I bought on Amazon.
I did try removing the current prints and adding new ones with little luck. In this case it will work 1 in 10 tries if you press very hard.

Go with the Amfilm "Hybrid" glass. Glass still works poorly on Ultrasonic sensors, so you want a TPU or "hybrid" (semi-hard plastic) protector to have it work properly. These are the same material (and IMHO better quality) than the Zagg protectors they're trying to charge $50 for.
Also you can increase the touch sensitivity. My scanner is hit or miss with my glass protector but I'd take protection over the fingerprint scanner. I wish Samsung went optical and this wouldn't be an issue.

I got these a few days ago from ebay. Delivered in Greece quite fast. 3 pieces for about 10 euros. Pretty much identical to the original one, easy to apply if you are careful. The first of the three was damaged as a part of my "learning to apply" curve but the second one I nailed it. Still one spare.

What is the screen like without the factory installed protective film? I find it makes the screen look a bit dull and hazy in bright lighting conditions and it picks up every bit of dust and fingerprint marks. I took the factory installed protective film off my Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, (I keep it in a wallet case so it has lots of protection) and it made the screen come alive - smooth and resistant to fingerprints, smudges, lint, etc. I'm thinking about doing that on the Vivo as well but wondered if anyone else had done so.
Yes it is

Yes it'more alive and smooth etc but with 2 kids around couldn't take the risk more than 3-4 days. Even the tiniest scratch or mark would seriously affect the reselling price.
Cautionary Note:
I removed the factory installed protective film and thought the appearance and feel of the screen was much improved. However when I rebooted my phone it didn't want to unlock using my fingerprints. I tried three or four times before I was successful. It had always unlocked instantly with a quick touch of my fingerprint before removing the protective film. So I thought: 'well, I'll just enroll a new fingerprint since the screen is now more sensitive', but when I tried to add a new fingerprint it wouldn't let me. I keep getting a message saying: 'apply official Vivo protective film to add fingerprint'. Ironically I can unlock my phone with facial recognition and Google Pay still works without the need to confirm by fingerprint and my banking app (which does require a fingerprint to unlock) unlocks instantly with my stored original fingerprint. So I disabled face unlocking and tried again to unlock with my stored original fingerprint and again it took four attempts. I'm glad I didn't delete the original stored fingerprint as I apparently can't add a fingerprint now without the original protective film.

I had no protective film for about 4-5 days and didn't face any similar problems. I think that's the only con about Chinese phones : Seems that somehow they don't have a "quality consistency" for all their devices. Seems that it's more likely to come across with a device that has a "problem" than with other manufacturers. For example , for Samsung you will read about "poor Exynos performance" or "overheating devices with SN 888" etc but with Chinese manufacturers you will read about 15 different problems from 15 different users, each of them having just one or two that other users don't have and not having the rest that other users complain about. I mean the "apply official Vivo protective film to add fingerprint" message is not due to a hardware or OS identified problem that "IQOO 9 PRO has and we know it", otherwise I should have had the same message. Seems that more or less Chinese phones have their own "personality" and this imho has to do with quality controls. (Just my 5 cents).
