Lenovo P2 charging board change - Lenovo P2 Questions & Answers

To cut the long story short, firstly the fast charging stopped working, and now I can't connect my P2 (p2a42 exactly according to my phone) to my computer.
So I came to a conclusion that there's something wrong with the usb port/board. Ordered a new one from UK. BUT when I disassembled my device, I noticed some differences between the replacement and original part. On the original I have four rectangular contact surfaces on one side of the board, but in the replacement, there's only two, so I'm not sure if this is going to work
Well, I went on to ebay once again, and looked for a picture that shows exactly the same board as the original part. Bought it and when it arrived, its actually just like the one replacement part I got earlier
So maybe it'll work though it doesn't look like it would?
(sorry can't post pictures cause I'm new here)

Mirrored(reverted) screen problem

Hi, i bought my universal (mda pro) on allegro (e-bay like polish portal). First time when i switched it on, screen was mirrored. I serched google for any rom to replace the original(now it is some qtek). It was useless. After next few hours on google i found pictures of dissasembling universal. I had opened screen and moved cables. When i switched it on it was ok... but only for 1 day. Right now moving cables does do nothing.
Question is: is there any reg hack to put screen to original, or i have to replace that bunch of cable from mainboard to screen or mayby it it bad soldering?
If any one has experience like that, plz help.
It was nescesery do replace lcd flex cable. I bought it from ebay from hongkong for 30$(with chineese post service) it came to me within 2 days. I replaced it myself. Now it is OK. If U know how to use screwdriver, i reccomend to do it yourself.

Flex Cable change gives errors PLEASE HELP

Hi dear developers!
I got a Touch Pro 2 from a friend, it's a GSM device he bought in Germany (O2). I changed a few parts but messed the main flex cable. The part from the power button is not connected anymore, a clean cut through, no repairs possible as far i think. So i bought a new one over ebay from Hong Kong. The seller told me it's for a GSM device BUT the cables do not look the same. The production date is 2008 and the damaged one was produced 2009. I built everything together and now the big surprise:
Phone boots normally but when the Home screen appears, it is always in landscape mode. No matter if the phone is closed or the keyboard open. I can only change the screen over advanced tools, but after soft reset again only landscape mode. The buttons for calling also do not work (those two down on the screen when you want to call someone or end a call ---> no reaction).
A hard reset and new ROM (energy) didn't change anything. By the way, the keyboard only fires up after pressing a button. Before it automatically lightened up after sliding.
What the hell is wrong now, did the send me a CDMA cable? Where is the difference ? Please help me i do not want to spent another 30 bucks again for a proper flex cable.
Edit: I disassembled the phone again and took a closer look on the flex cable: the lower part (with the LCD connection etc) looks quite same except for 3 or 4 transistors and their position on the PCB. The upper part with the earpice looks way different. The positioning of the single parts is not the same. But how can that interfere ? Guess there is no problem with the mainboard or the LCD (which is brand new).

OK, i solved the problem. The guy who sold the flex cable sent me a older one as I described. This thing was fully responsible for the errors. Bought a new one and everything works fine now^^ So if you ever want to change your Flex cable take good care which one you buy (especially on ebay!)
Btw: The display and the digitizer are glued and IF you want to replace any of those two, do yourself the favor and buy the complete bundle !!! I made the mistake and tried to replace the digitizer and cracked the display. There is no way as far as I can say, that you can manage this.
Bye
Can u post the seller info? Im in the same situation w a different phone... Thanks

Try cnn.cn but i think you will find only the whole micro usb port and not the flex cable alone
I have tried 12 replacement parts from ebay for an i717 and they ALL have no service after putting them in. but the original one that doesn't charge still gets service fine...
edit: I can recommend http://www.parts4repair.com/. Worked like a charm
did you try the following:

Yes, the AT&T version and the International version have different radios, and the micro USB port is connected to them. They are NOT interchangeable.
i717 ≠ GT-N7000
Any tips anyone?
Hi, I just want to revive this thread rather than start a new one.
I am gonna swap my my usb charging port for a one I bought on eBay. Does anyone have any tips I should know about that you can tell me?
I'm going by this youtube video. this is all I got and of course I'm kinda scared.:crying:
Thanks. Will check back later.
Easy to do, but will cause other issues
Hi. I too have just brought a note with this problem.
The replacement is easy, remove battery cover, battery sim etc. Take out the screws, use something thin to pries the edge off. Its the lip below the screen level though. After that, 3 more screws for the bottom section, then take out the one screw in the thin motherboard piece. Slide out the old flex, slide in the new one, re assemble.
The biggest problem is that youll most likely lose 80 % of your reception from it. When the phone is open, try to see if there is any corrosion behind your USB port, if there is clean it and try it. I did that as im sending my ebay one back for a replacement, Now my old one seems to be working, but for how long, i dont know.

I bought a battery charger and extra battery. I bought the brand Hyperion but I've heard there are better brands. Anyway, I don't charge my phone any more... I just swap batteries now. One is always on the charger and one in the phone. It works fantastically and further, the phone always has a charge. When I want to swap files I remove the card and put it in the PC. Works really good.
If you are on about the daughter board I got one of Amazon for£10 took less than 10 mins to fit and have had no problems. Came In OEM packaging
Any questions feel free to PM

It's 10 black screws on the back & 5 white to take there cover of over the daughter board. No need to undo a mother board screw whats this about losing 80%signal?
That's rubbish, Sir! Mine is on5 bars H+ and has been sincei did it. As there is a new mix. Too the sound is better, IMO

Bought mine off ebay worked 100%, signal is still the same, nothing happens to signal. But you have to buy the whole board. Mine didnt come with a wee microphone bit so i took off my old one, stuck the sticky bit within the square part and put the rubber part in the cover and screwed it on. Everything working fine.

My usb port is busted so am replacing that board too. However, I've bought two off ebay and both have had problems. First one fixed the charging issue but didn't give me any reception (well one bar now and then) and the second gave me signal but had a busted micro usb port. EBay can be so fustrating sometimes!!

I have just fitted my 3rd replacement board and loose most of my signal after fitting it. My original board gives me full signal but intermittent charging. :crying:
Do all N7000 use the same board or does country intended for make a difference? My note is an International phone made for Hong Kong.

To be honest I still haven't got a perfect replacement yet but one that is at least functional (get werid noises during phone calls - not on my end but on whoever is calling me).
You do have to make sure you get the correct board though. If you look on the original board it should have some writing in gold near the top. Mine said Rev 1.0 so I got replacements which were rev 1.0 too. Apparently there are other revisions (although I didn't come across any others).

mine is a version 1.00 see attached my original is on the top one of the replacements below
I did my replacement yesterday.
Got the part from this seller:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190821533955?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
And then followed this link on how to do it, took me 2 attempts as the 1st time I hadn't pushed one of the ribbon cables down and had no service. After pushing it in and putting it all back together it works again

Ordered one from parts4repair, we'll see how that one works. The one I have now, works, but the signal level sucks.

USB Port/Daughterboard Replacement

Some how (isn't that what they all say) got water in my GNex USB Port which caused the port to fry once charger was plugged in. Phone still fully functions as normal, just can't charge it. After pricing out a few options, I've decided to replace the part myself. Should everything go well, this should save me at least $35.
Just wondering if anyone else here as had to do this, would love to hear how it went for you. I'm currently waiting for the part to be shipped to me.
There's been quite a few people (not me so far) who've had to change their usb ports because they failed (stopped charging). There's several threads on how to do it, I've not bookmarked them but search would probably turn them up.
Should be pretty simple if the charging port is on a daughterboard and not on the main PCB. It's pretty easy to remove the lcd/digitizer + mainboard from the housing, and if it's just a daughterboard you should be able to disconnect the old part from the connector and attach the new one.
Thanks for the replies! ifixit.com actually has a detailed step by step, just wanted to see if anyone here ran into any issues while doing it or not.

Its fairly easy to replace the USB board if done with care and proper tools. A word of advice, when you remove the back cover ( the step after removing screws) pay attention to not drop the rubber buttons..... they are hard to find once they hit the floor . Anything than that, just do it with love and you will do fine
Success! Time to put the Aria back in the closet!
I take that back, the microphone (which is part of the usb port board) on the new board does not work. Attempted to make a phone call and they could not hear me. Used a voice recording app and got nothing. Looks like I'll be getting another replacement.
I've got to hand it to Wholesale Gadget Parts, Inc out of Oklahoma. That's saying a lot coming from a Texan, we usually aren't too fond of Oklahoma. As stated the other day, the replacement board I got had a faulty microphone. Called WGP, no questions asked shipped me a new one and got it within 48 hours. My GNex is now back to fully functioning order!

Replacing usb connection of phone

Ever since my small accident. I feel like my usb charging port on my phone is not working right. My brother-in-law bent it back and seemed to work for a while but now I have to hold my mouth right to charge it. How hard is it to replace?? At one point I read on ifixit how to and had found on ebay the part but that was a while back ago.
My gnex took a swim, causing the USB port to no longer function. I was surprised by how easy the procedure was. I followed youtube video watch?v=B5fZzZANLC4, and found it very helpful. I work on computers, so I was somewhat familiar, everything was just on a smaller scale. The hardest part was reconnecting the antenna cable to the main board. I found a magnifying glass to be quite useful. Just be careful, make sure you get the right item for your model and follow the video and you'll be fine. I got my replacement flex cable on ebay, it was inexpensive.
p.s. sorry I couldn't post the whole youtube url, I don't have enough posts for such features
