Hi guys, I've been playing around with models and flashing lots of Roms, I'm having stability issues no matter the rom. Any way to diagnose or go back to what works? I feel it's the modem but not sure.

Is it a good idea to restore to stock once in a while to keep things running smoothly? I have had a GS3 for about three months and average a rom update/change every two weeks. I've even been running CM-based (AOSP and AOKP) roms so much that I have trouble telling stock runners how to do things. So, are there any advantages? If so, how often and what are the advantages?
I don't see any reason to, unless you start seeing weirdness and need to rule out a hardware defect

Like how to change my kernel and stuff. I just want some simple stuff to give my phone a boost and stuff nothing major like flashing unofficial jelly bean or anything. It would be great of someone can kindly help me and giuld me thru stuff or give me links. I just want to really understand how this rooting and flashing stuff works. Thx! CHEERS~

Here's some tips...
- don't start flashing and modding until you have read....read...and re-read. If you follow instructions and cross reference, things will be fun. If you skip details and take foolish risks...you may end up getting a soft/hard brick or just getting jammed up. Take your time, read, absorb...and GO SLOW.
- don't just flash because you can....unless you can afford to throw away TIME and/or MONEY. My stock rom runs near perfect. Battery drain, speed, multitasking yadda yadda...is the best I have ever experienced and I DO COMPARE my stats with those on so called BETTER ROMS. Custom tweaked roms can be very rewarding...but I can see that a huge amount of users are having many uses such as Hot Reboots, unreliability, battery drains etc. Start off with things like replacing your Touch Wiz home screen with something like Go Launcher EX. But if your new here, you may not even realize why it IS or why it COULD be better.
- I always decide to test new apps and or mods...for one main reason. Because I am unsatisfied with a feature or operation. In Android world, there are always multiple solutions or options. If it's not here today, it will be next week or next month. Searching is the key. Good Luck!

And thank the people like this guy ^ who help you. Even if it is from 2011 and it just helped you today.
Hey guys, I have a Sprint, SM-T807P (10.5" LTE/Snapdragon) version of the Tab S and I must say that I have been nothing short of impressed since the day I purchased it back in December. However, the one (major) downfall is that it seems 1 in 1000 Tab S owners actually have the 807P, which appears to be resulting in a virtual non-existent world of ROM's/custom kernels etc.
I was HOPING I am either over looking something, looking in the wrong location, or not aware of which other models may be compatible with mine.
I just Odin'd from DUH's KK ROM, to stock OE3 Lollipop, and was hoping to get re-rooted/CWR or TWRP installed and find myself a slick little ROM to install.
Is there any hope? lol Thanks in advance, ladies and gents!
Adding on to this. I bought the SM-T807P used (because it was a great deal) and I am only interested in running it through wifi. I dont need the LTE capability.
Somewhere I heard that some other Snapdragon roms will work, I'll just loose LTE functionality ... which is fine by me.
Does anyone have a list or can point me in the right direction for other roms that would work in wifi mode?
Or tell me which snapdragon roms will work?
It's already rooted and TWRP is installed. I'm just lacking in roms.
Thanks!

I'm sure @duh will gladly build an updated Rom for you guys if enough of you request it.
Maybe if you have enough knowledge you can build one for yourself and the other Sprint owners?

Did you ever receive any answers on this? I am in the same boat, I only have a gig or two of data on my Tab S, but have unlimited data on my Note 4, that's rooted+ROM'd, including the hotspot mod. So I could do without the LTE as well...
What exactly is it you are all expecting from a custom rom?
Practically all custom roms are simply debloated stock roms with maybe the odd extra thrown in.
There is nothing magic in a stock custom rom that you can't do yourself.

What I really want for my sweet little device is for someone to port over Cyanogenmod. Which is what I have been using for year.
cm is bad on tab s just prefer pac rom over it
Hello, sorry for a question that may be dumb.
My Pixel 2 XL is my first Android phone. I'm interested in playing around with custom ROMs at some point. Like most, I'm very happy with the camera. Since (I think) a lot of this is software/post-processing do I lose this great camera experience if I root the phone and install another ROM? It seems to me that I would.
Thanks!
Rooting does not affect the camera.
Installing another ROM certainly will.
That's sort of the "fun" part of ROMs and rooting, the ability to try out new ROMs and features, and the ability to go back to factory specs if you want.
Thanks, your answer is much appreciated.
Hi, after about a year of using MIUI, I am ready to start messing with the custom roms. Any recommendations what to try first, or what not to miss out on?
Thanks!
another questions, i pressed my screen in and there are a couple of red and blue lines only visible on black background. is this permanent, or can it be fixed? also how much would the replacement screen be. i am thinking selling this and then buying 2s or mi8 would probably be the way to go, no? which of the two do you recommend?
thanks for the possible info
Some pictures would be helpful...
Regarding custom ROMs, be prepared to wipe everything when installing. The 'Remix" ROMs are usually pretty good. But all non-MIUI based ROMs will have less battery life...
