Settings default back upon software update - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

I noticed that on updating my s9 software, that some settings have been reverted. For instance, it now connects automatically to public hotspots. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Where can I go back and change this setting?

[Q] Problems with refresh/switching of wi-fi access points

I've started noticing weird issues with wifi recently - when I move from one wifi access point to another, wifi list is not refreshed (says "Connected" to AP that is way out of reach although wifi icon in status bar is inactive), and this is not happening even when I tap "Scan" manually. To connect to other AP I have to turn wifi off, wait few seconds, then turn it on (both AP's have saved passwords, reconnect happens automatically).
What's interesting, wifi access points lookup works fine in general and I continue seeing "Wifi access point available" notifications from time to time.
Confirmed this problem on firmware v.14.3.A.0.757 (4.4.2), upgrade to 761 did not fix anything. This is not very likely a setting issue, tried playing with "Scanning always available", "Wi-Fi optimization" settings, etc. Not 100% sure stock firmware had this issue (14.2.А.1.114 (4.3)), although if there is some easy way to downgrade I might go with it.
Does anyone encountered the same issue? What can be done to diagnose this issue?

Browsers: Unable to connect to proxy server

I am randomly getting this error when using any browser on my phone. When I go to the Wi-Fi network settings it has set the proxy server to 127.0.0.1:3128 by itself without my input. If I change this to 'none', it will change it back at some point and that's when I get the errors again.
Does anyone know why it keeps doing this as it's really annoying and setting it to 'none' often doesn't resolve the issue even through a I reboot unless I switch to mobile data then switch back to Wi-Fi and then it starts working. It's definitely an Android bug somewhere as I have read of this problem on a Google search but they don't offer any remedy aside from what I have already tried.
I figured out what the issue was..kaspersky mobile security changes the proxy to run through its app on stock/chrome and can cause problems. I deactivated that feature from the app and I have had no connection problems since.

Another aspect of Wi-Fi in recent Cyanogenmod-13.0 Roms

I have been experiencing Wi-Fi problem due to sudden change of Wi-Fi region code while using nightly builds of Cyanogenmod 13.0(
at present, cm-13.0-20160812-UNOFFICIAL-aceopt.zip)
Some times ago it seemed that the configured Wi-Fi setting was removed when I reboot my Desire HD, but such problem disappeared nowadays.
Now, I noticed that when I change channel to 'optimal channel' in my Wi-Fi router, the connection to Wfi-Fi network is disconnected and I could
not reconnect to it.
While Inspecting this problem, I became aware that Wi-Fi region code was resetted to 'Korea' in advanced settings.
If I change this to 'United States' and reenable disabled Wi-Fi, I can use Wi-Fi smoothly again.
BTW, such problem does not exist in cm-1.2.1-20160807-UNOFFICIAL-aceopt and prior builds.

Note 5 Wi-fi Rapidly Switching On And Off

Firmware: 6.0.1
Model: SM-N920A
UPDATE: Problem solved. Turns out it's an issue with the WIFI scanning in LOCATION, not in the wifi settings. While I still think this is an issue with the firmware, at least there's a way to get it to stop freaking out until they get it fixed.
Whenever I turn on the Wifi, it will often begin a cycle of rapidly turning off and back on again. If you watch the switch that indicates 'on' and 'off', it's constantly fluctuating between the two. -Immediately- after the switch shows it's turned on, the text just below the switch says "turning off.." and it turns off, immediately afterward turning back on, and the process repeats constantly until the phone dies.
Something is either forcing it to turn off, or forcing it to turn on. I've tried adjusting the settings for my third-party texting app (Textra), and even after disabling the entire app and using the stock one, the issue persisted.
I've tried restarting, I've tried clearing the cache via the bootloader.
I've exhausted the entire suite of options in settings for anything Wifi related, no configuration of settings has resolved the issue, including turning off wifi scanning.
I've tried entering the combination of "#", "*", and 0's and 1's (can't remember it off the top of my head) to access the wifi settings to turn off the power saving, but my phone under the listed model and firmware showed no such option.
The problem persists in any location, so I know it's not anything to do with the network I'm trying to connect to.
The only way I've gotten it to stop is going to the wifi settings menu, and rapidly tapping the switch while it constantly goes back and forth. I've managed to get it to stay in the "on" position, but that's the closest thing to a fix I've been able to find.
I've combed through many threads in the AT&T Note 5 troubleshooting topic, and can hardly find anything that describes this particular issue, only with wifi "not staying connected" or other obscure descriptions that upon further inspection were -not- the issue I'm having here.
Were it up to me I would root the thing and put stock Nougat on there and be done with it. But alas, AT&T has removed that option.
I am willing to do a factory reset, but I'd like to know if anyone else has had this issue and if there is any other way to solve it, so I can avoid it in the future.
Settings > wifi > more (top right corner) > advanced > always allow scanning - set to 'off'
Like I said, I've exhausted all possible options in the menus relating to wifi.
This is what I see when I go into the "Advanced" settings in Wifi.
Network Notification (on or off)
Hotspot 2.0 (on or off)
Keep wifi on during sleep (never)
Auto connect to AT&T wifi (on or off)
Install network certificates
MAC address
IP address
That's all there is. I just factory reset my phone, restored it, and the problem in the OP persists.
I rebooted it in safe mode, and the problem still persists. At this point, it looks like it's an issue with the individual handset, unless there's anything I've missed. This is beyond frustrating.
Sorry but can you explain to me how you stop this from happening?
Mine going crazy from time to time, drives me nuts, and i can't stop it.
Btw this doesn't exist on my AT&T Note 5 --> Settings > wifi > more (top right corner) > advanced > always allow scanning - set to 'off'
Kill AT&T Wifi Direct and AT&T Hot Spots.. Remove them as System Apps also.. You should get a message that it is replacing it with the stock version somewhere along this path then your wifi will work flawlessly again even with 5GHz, go figure I guess Google does a better job at WiFi.'
Edit: (sloppy instructions)
DEVICE|APPLICATION MANAGER
"MORE" top right corner
CHANGE SYSTEM SETTINGS
<disable AT&T smart WiFi and anything else that is AT&T or Samsung, including theme nonsense if you want)
Now remove it from Apps....
DEVICE|APPLICATION MANAGER
Force Stop AT&T Smart Wifi. Disable AT&T Smart WiFI.. (Select Storage in same screeen, restrict background data.. Remove permissions)
I realize some of my steps are redundant but AT&T will update stuff then turn those apps back on somehow.. But not if you gut it like I described above

Issue connecting CCA

I have a CCA which was working wonderfully till now.
But, I am facing issues recently. It won't show up n streaming option on my any Music Apps, not on my Android Phone or PC. It also shows as unavailable on Goggle Home app.
For a few weeks it was hit and miss regarding it showing up as an option. Now it's totally missing. Can anybody help please?
One of the reason might be change of WiFi Modem/Router due to change of provider. But, I am not sure. Any particular setting to check in router?
If you changed your wifi network name or passcode, you will need to reset the CCA and set it up to the new network.

It's possible that the issue you're experiencing is related to the change in your WiFi modem/router. It's also possible that there could be other factors at play. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
Check to make sure that your CCA is powered on and properly connected to your network.
Make sure that your CCA is up to date with the latest firmware.
Check your router settings to ensure that the CCA is allowed to connect to the network.
Restart your router and CCA. Sometimes, simply restarting the devices can resolve connectivity issues.
If you've recently changed your WiFi modem/router, try restoring the CCA to its factory default settings and then set it up again from scratch. This will help to ensure that the CCA is properly configured for your new network.
If you've tried all of these steps and are still having issues, it is necessary to contact the manufacturer of your CCA for further assistance. They may be able to provide additional troubleshooting steps or identify any underlying issues with the device.
