Like it. Runs smooth, everything that is said to work, works. But some bugs, aside that from gr8Nole's CM12. For example, I can't change keyboard, settings just crash when I'm trying to.

I am still playing around with this rom when I have time. So far to my surprise, everything is working nice as it should. The only problem I have come across so far though is when I click certain links, they dont seem to parse/click correctly. Several times when click a URL I get the error: net::ERR_UNKNOWN_URL_SCHEME An easy way to recreate it is to go to this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053 (SuperSU on XDA) and scroll down and click on the Download: SuperSU on Google Play (free) link while using the rom. I would post it here, but I am typing from a PC right now and have to be quick. The link loads just fine on the PC too. I have done this in the past with 4.4.4 roms and last I recall it was working properly. When searching Google for the error, everything relates to code, which is out of my knowledge. A couple forums with people having issues were all unresolved or were told to restart, but it makes no difference. Now it doesn't do this all the time, but it has happened several times which makes it a small annoyance mostly, and assuming it should not do this at all. Hopefully I am not the only one having this issue and it can be fixed. Let me know if there is any other info I can provide.
Hmmm, I cant recreate the issue here...all links open fine...ibopen everything with chrome....what are you using? I find that some links wont open properly with the stock browser...

Its not a matter of what you want, or what you are willing to do....I am not the dev....or a dev period...I'm going by what they are telling me to tell you.....no device = no build....blind builds are a pain and headache for devs....sorry

Thanks for getting back. I felt like a noob when I realized I was using the stock browser. I just been use to PA gapps in the 4.4.4 builds totally replacing the stock browser with Chrome. Since we are using Banks with Validus, is there some way I can manually inject or replace the stock browser with chrome? If it is a pain in the ass or not possible, is there a way to remove the stock browser once Chrome is installed? The same situation applies with the Nova launcher. I slightly prefer the Apex launcher and have the pro version on Google play. In the 4.4.4 roms, I was able to use Root uninstaller to remove leftover stuff I will never use in 4.4.4 roms, but it fails to remove it in LP. It is possible the Root uninstaller app isnt updated for LP, and may test some alternatives. It is just a minor issue figure I would ask to see what your thoughts were on it. If I could somehow replace nova and the stock with Apex and Chrome so when I flash it, it would be great as it is already there without the extra apps I will not use.
Aside from that I finally had some time to flash the latest build 1/31? and it is nice. I ended up doing a clean install since I was not vested much into the previous build anyway. When going through the primary setup, typing the Google account name, etc. It closed unexpectedly and told me it did, but it was at the end. Not sure if it was just a hiccup, but it saved my info from what I can tell and still works great. The dark theme is a perfect fit too. I look forward for future updates and will continue to use them.

I keep stock browser and chrome on both my devices but if you want to remove it you can...validus has system app remover built in...go to developer settings and its right at the top....remove whatever system stuff you don't use or want there browser is in there..then reboot...simple....or you can use apps like titanium backup or rom toolbox pro to do the same thing....I prefer rom toolbox as it does tons of stuff....great app to buy...
As for nova you can remove it the same way if you want to....or just install apex and set it as your default launcher under Home in settings menu...

I'm not following what you're asking...Validus is rooted with superSU...It gets flashed when you flash the ROM...

Testing & Maintenance of Validus roms for Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 SM-T311
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 SM-T311.
And I am always ready to experiment on my tab.
So i can test the roms developed for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 SM-T311 and find the bugs and can maintain Validus for this device but i cant build the roms.
And i am also ready to learn how to develop a rom if you people are ready to teach me.
So please develop this great rom for this device model also.

I have already stated many times that team validus only builds for devices we own and operate...sorry. If you learn to build ROMs our source is openly available along with cm source...
Crashing of System UI
The ROM's quite smooth till now, except for the crashing of the System UI whenever the theme is changed.
It's a minor issue and can be considered a negligible one. Other than this, I find the customization options a bit limited than what the other ROMs like SpiritRom (for v4.4), offered.

Many features will be added back over time....no lollipop ROM has all those features yet...
Nice port, only chrome is a bit bugy and a game like crossy road does no t work.
I have the xt1625 non Amazon version. Installed EX kernel 1.01 and I used the systemless Supersu method to root stock Nougat 7.0. version NJ??? - 11. Installed BusyBox, etc... My question is this, Has anyone found any dark, black or transparent layers that work correctly on stock Nougat? Substratum works smoothly but the layers theme I use on Aicp has multiple color choices and when I use it on stock Nougat it always builds with the same ugly purple, pink and blue. No matter which colors I choose! I'm really trying to find a theme so I can get system ui, etc black with red or orange accents but anything close would work... Thanks

That's what I'm doing already. Tried them all, they all have different intermittent issues. Aicp seems to be the most stable for my device but it still has issues. I'm trying to figure out a way to black out most of the stock firmware ui

I have a couple that I purchased... None look right on the stock rom. Thats my whole point. Im trying to find someone that has their phone set up with a good looking dark substratum theme, paid or not... Ive purchased some, ive tried different free ones, no luck.

Because stock doesn't have substratum support u need custom rom
I'm seriously considering getting the OnePlus 3. I notice they give the ROM on their website, it's near stock Android, based on Cyanogenmod and (I believe) it doesn't have a warranty killswitch like Motorola or Samsung, etc. It makes it pretty easy to try other roms and just go back doesn't it?

oxygen and cyanogen are both based on AOSP but oxygen isnt based on cyanogen i think.

To some extent is true unless you feel the smoothness of Oxygen OS + Camera . I have tried almost all ROMs out there but I kept getting back to OOS.
I won't blame custom ROMs for camera ( waiting for camera blobs ) but for the smoothness. If you're like me , I bet you won't be flashing custom ROMs regularly.
You can flash Franco kernel for great battery life on stock , you can't do on others. Plus few customization mods on stock are a delight like changing clock positions , adding backgrounds to quick setting panel , and a 4 row panel!
yes absolutely, just as always u have to read and be careful... but yes it is so easy to unlock bootloader, root and custom recovery and has great dev support

I think you might be confused here: stock OOS doesn't have features like change clock position or adding background to QS panel.
If you are speaking about flashable mods, well, that would fall within phone modding again.

Yes, but it won't fall under ROM flashing as the title asks.
I just gave him ways to customize OOS , cause if he wants to stick to stock and want custom ROM customization , not fully though ... Still 20% customization are possible.

Yes but I was referring more to people (like me) who like to try new ROMs just for fun, not necessarily because something's missing on their devices. But thanks for the tips though!
Yes it is I learning every time new new thing when ever I flashing new ROM every 3 days i am become addicted to flashing new ROMs and finding new features. Right now I am using vertexos ROM with render kernel beta(pelt) variant it is really very neat ROM with fantastic kernel. Battery discharge is seriously amazing when I am using any application or ideal time discharge, seriously amazing.

This is the first phone where i didn't even bother to try a custom ROM. Stock OOS is working great out of the box minus some WiFi issues with my repeater.

I'd say yea. Considering it boot loader unlocks like a Nexus and has recovery.. I got this first thing I did was flash AICP then as I went along I thought I'd give stock a try. Or rather a modified stock (freedomOS) and ever since I've tried going back to AICP RR etc but it just made me want to go back to stock. So my advice. Before you go flashing all the non stock roms. Give stock a chance or a stock based Rom. And browse the mod forums for the device. There's a lot of stock mods. The one plus team made it a point to add some minor features that make sense into the rom but it still feels like AOSP with some minor differences. The shelf is literally the only way I keep my life in order. If you want me to go more in detail feel free to pm me I'll answer any questions

You can always make backups and go back and forth. I do indeed like the stock ROM, but it doesn't support OSM and being able to theme apps, as well as system, is something I like. Right now, I am running AOSP-Extended.
Hey guys just ordered my 5t should be here next week, anything I should know about it? I’ve rooted and used custom roms before. Main questions would be, should I decrypt the phone or leave it encrypted? Also can I use substratum on stock/rooted?
First you made a great purchase in the 5T it Trump's alot of other flagships in many areas.
Personally I'm running Decrypted but was at first running encrypted, with root, personally I would go with Decrypted, however some rooms force encyption (So you will then need to flash dm-verity after rom flash) but that is all as I said rom dependable.
As for Substratum yes you can run on Stock Rooted as far as I'm aware, as I'm currently on Hydrogen beta 3 & running Substratum just fine.

I just bought my Poco F3 (8/256), and initially I never really gave any thought about flashing a custom ROM, since at this level, the phone itself is amazing, and I can use it well and reliably.
But I came across people being really passionate towards the EU ROM over the Global one. And they aren't doing it for the sake of customization, they're doing it for literal quality of life improvement.
With that said, as the title suggests, my interest is piqued with the topic, and just wanna ask if it's worth doing so?
I hope you guys could give a conclusive, objective list, not just simply because you use one or the other. (Would really appreciate it :> )
Also I have a few other questions;
Is it technically a custom ROM but is essentially official ROM (I.e. it's from Xiaomi directly so practically nothing changes and everything is still optimized and built for the F3)
Can you go back to the default ROM like nothing happened (Literally back to stock, is that possible?)
And is it safe from a I wanna keep my phone as stock as possible, without any modifications (I really just want the EU if it's officially from Xiaomi and really is stock)
Also maybe you guys can throw around tutorials, and instructions (Like with is TWRP?)

Not worth it, the changes are very little, like e.g. added Ads toggle directly in the initial Android Setup and probably other very minor stuff.
Unless you're talking about Xiaomi.eu which is a Custom ROM. I personally use it and can recommend it. Latest MIUI from China, optimised for rest of the world. Advantages are more features and in-house apps like MIUI Phone (with Call Recording), MIUI Contacts, Xiaomi Health, etc..

Wait I'm confused?
Xiaomi.eu is different from the EU ROM?
Does that mean that the particular ROM you're using is actually a Custom ROM (From the community rather than from developers/ POCO themselves)
If so, what exactly are the advantages it provides aside from the one you mentioned? How about substance?
And does that mean that it is outside the realm of being official, and therefore not ideal to someone like me looking to stick to stock everything to avoid the hassle and headache?

Yes 100% different. Many get confused about this because of the website's name.
It's very much a Custom ROM, but very stable, since it just takes the latest MIUI ROM from China (China gets the latest ROM first, because Xiaomi is chinese). The community devs also did a few adjustments to make the chinese MIUI ROM suitable for the rest of the world, like adding Google Services which China doesn't use, etc..
I'm not sure if you can flash the Official EU ROM without having to unlock the bootloader. I think you can.
But for Xiaomi.eu you definitely need to unlock it. For me personally it was worth it, but I'm also very specific about my customisations and also always unlock & root my Android devices.

Do you personally recommend going through the hassle of switching over to Xiaomi.eu, as someone who wants to stick to stock as much as possible but also want the best ideal experience (best battery life, general quality of life stuff)
I also wanna avoid stuff like bootlooping, issues with my warranty, not being able to go back to the official state of the phone etc.
Can you also comment on the opinions I see mostly saying that there is better battery over at Xiaomi.eu. and if so by how much? Are talking an extra hour or two on your screen on time and general battery life? Or at best a couple of minutes?

Hm. Well, Global and EU ROMs are always behind China ROM and Xiaomi.eu Custom ROM.
First thing you'd notice is the Xiaomi apps like Phone, Contacts, and other Xiaomi apps being improved and having a modern Design. You also get new features like Horizontal Recents-Menu, ability to smoothly adjust Font-Thickness. And probably more obvious stuff.
It's been a long time since I last used Stock ROM, but.. battery life is the same.
Also: When people claim much improved battery life on Vanilla Android ROMs or other specific ROMs, take them with a grain of salt, unless these people do scientific tests.
There's always variation, and it highly depends on the features that are enabled, your apps and its services that are running in the background and other stuff like your specific brightness setting.
You may get bootlooping when trying out Custom ROMs, that can happen, but you can always revert back to Stock ROM. You just need to do research on how to flash a Custom Recovery like TWRP, how to flash a Custom ROM and how to revert back to a Stock ROM.

What about OTA? From what I've read in the past, the Updater app in Xiaomi.eu just downloads the full package and we dirty flash the package it in TWRP. Is that still the case?

What about OTA? From what I've read in the past, the Updater app in Xiaomi.eu just downloads the full package and we dirty flash the package it in TWRP. Is that still the case?

Yup, on Xiaomi.eu that is the case.
However it only takes 3 minutes to flash the ROM and to reboot. That's literally it.
It's possible for a system to work together with a Custom Recovery, in order to automatically flash updates, but apparently in 2021, we haven't gotten there yet.
I've heard of some Vanilla Android Custom ROMs having fully automatic OTA-updates. AICP or crDroid I think? Not sure..
There's two option with Custom MIUI ROM ( Bare minimum modifications or else there is Highly modifiable MIUI ROM's like OneOS, MIUI MIX, Hellas MIUI, XTRV, MIUIVN, MI-Globe, etc. ) , Xiaomi.eu weekly beta update and a Xiaomi.eu Stable update which are both based on chinese beta and stable as the name suggests. Personally, I use the Weekly update and i have not found any issues for which i would consider it a deal breaker. I am Rooted and happy. I will never go back to Stock ROM because of how poor the battery life was. And also to factor the google dialer and messages app. I do not like it.
I agree with everything @Animesh Singh said, except the Battery life part.

As someone who came from the era of primitive Android modifications (Rooting around 2014) I managed to boot loop an old device of mine, and so I'm understandably hesitant towards these things m

If you really like to more Google default apps than MIUI default apps such as Phone, Messages, Google Discover, etc. then changing from Global ROM to EU ROM from official MIUI site is good to go. Unlock the bootloader first then you can flash the EU ROM. Otherwise just stick with Global ROM, everything is same from performance, battery life, etc. But then again if you prefer a Custom ROM based on MIUI, then MIUI EU from Xiaomi-EU is better, it has better stability and more features as well since it is from Chinese ROM which always release earlier features and bug-fix improvement than the official MIUI ROM. Notable features for me are:
Increased volume in headphones after some tweaking in sound settings, better standby and battery life, wallpaper carousel (it has an anime category in xiaomi.eu), better theme store imo because of the AOD category which i couldn't find in the global but most of the stuff is in chinese so it might not be as appealing for everyone, no ads etc
I have been looking at a Poco f3 5g. It will have the UK (EU?) Rom. Should I still try xiaomi.eu?
I have a mi 9t at the moment with pixel experience but I'm willing to give Xiaomi ROM another go.
I like Google dialer and messages app. I don't record calls and don't understand why people make a big deal of this?
Is there less bloat in the xiaomi.eu ROM compared to the official EU ROM?

I have read somewhere that xiaomi.eu have some significant better stuff, i think it was on reddit. I ordered mine yesterday, my Poco F3 comes with the Global ROM so i am also thinking on flashing it to xiaomi.eu or to the Official EU ROM, i am still thinking more about changing to the EU ROM other than xiaomi.eu since it's official and it's the first time i am thinking about flahing a phone, is it possible to change from official Global ROM to official EU ROM and if so, do you know how can i do it?
I personnly wouldnt bother still got bloat like virus scanner pretty sure it Avast with a diffrent stamp dont care for the music and video apps to much bloat , the themes app sucks to ,, gonna flash something make it worth your while like Arrow
