I have the xt1625 non Amazon version. Installed EX kernel 1.01 and I used the systemless Supersu method to root stock Nougat 7.0. version NJ??? - 11. Installed BusyBox, etc... My question is this, Has anyone found any dark, black or transparent layers that work correctly on stock Nougat? Substratum works smoothly but the layers theme I use on Aicp has multiple color choices and when I use it on stock Nougat it always builds with the same ugly purple, pink and blue. No matter which colors I choose! I'm really trying to find a theme so I can get system ui, etc black with red or orange accents but anything close would work... Thanks

That's what I'm doing already. Tried them all, they all have different intermittent issues. Aicp seems to be the most stable for my device but it still has issues. I'm trying to figure out a way to black out most of the stock firmware ui

Hey,
I had a horrible bootloop-infection on my phone today for no reason; maybe its the sign to replace the Rom; i had a milestone 5 from AOKP [ around june WTF??!?) installed and was enjoying it till this day;
I was waiting for the last 4.2 Rom update from AOKP but since no update for the last month i decided to get something new and fresh instead, so thought to come back here and ask you guys thos flash junkies or just people who realy enjoy their current ROM;
I wasnt here for 6 months due to studying in the university so most of the names are new to me in the Development section that's why i realy need the help to choose;
I dont need much only good battery life; option to remove the notification bar and to have the navigation bar transparent or invisible;
Currently sitting with 4.0.2 clean recovery Rom that i made on the start of February o0 build waiting for responses;
Thank you;
Well, I am not using any of these custom ROMs so I am always supporting the idea of going over the main thread of the most popular ROMs in the development section then choosing whatever seems reasonable to you. Try it, then if any complaints then go for another.
If you really want a 4.2 AOKP ROM, then check this
I hope you have a break from the university so you can play with these custom ROMs
Thank you ahmadallica;
I'm studying software engineering so my free time is for sleep only currently thats why i ask for guidance due to the fact i dont have much time to test each Rom;
The Rom you gave looks realy nice from the outside but sounds more of a huge nightly build instead of a stable one, with so many stuff missing and probably he just uses the AOKP frame without adding/updating/changing any stuff moreover the lack of changlog and an overall [work/not work] stuff that the rest of the Rom developers show suggesting its just an amateur one; i really appreciate this dude's hard work but i need something stable for half a year and not to be one of this Rom testers;
Highly recommend paranoid android, been through leads of custom ROMs and I've stuck with this the longest ... give it a go, excellent team and excellent ROM

Be careful because I found that in the "Verizon" section so do NOT flash it if you are running a GSM GNex

Paranoidandroid is definitely the way to go. The new version is still in beta but almost completely stable in my opinion. Themes are hit or miss at this stage of the ROM but yes, you can adjust the colors for the navbar, statusbar, navigation icons and statusbar icons within each app. It can be found in settings/paranoidpreferences/apps.
I've been using this rom since v1.98, it's now at 2.99 BetaNINE and I have not looked at anything else.
*Sidenote, PA used to be CM based up until version 2.54, starting with 2.99 Beta1 it is now AOSP based for a smoother and faster experience with better battery life. This is why some features are not yet added back and other things are not fully perfected (i.e. themes).
The problem with themes is that with every new Beta of PA comes some new code and the themers cannot always keep up with every new release so a lot of themes end up causing issues. I would just customize as I recommended above for now and once AOSPA 3.0 is released PA will be out of beta and easier to find compatible themes.
Yes you can adjust the colour of the status bar and nav bar for each app individually from with the hybrid engine within the rom... Most play store themes support it too... anything else just let me know

Thank you dankblaze for all that info;
I realy dont need that much of customization just that all bars/system/screens be with the same color and to be able to adjust that 1 color myself;
Is that possible in the new 2.99 or should i get the 2.54?

Personally, I like TWRP so check this on how to install it easily. Take note that if you have CWM nandroid backups then they will NOT be compatible with TWRP because it has its own nandroid backups.
As for kernel, just try them till you find a suitable one
Thx bro, i might give it a try tho is there something wrong staying with CWM ? i dont care much for the backups im gonna format it anyway. but i read inside you say it not for Gnex and thats its only for the Nexus 4? is that true?

No no. That was for the other member in that thread who was mentioning a Nexus 4 version. TWRP works on both of them. Basically just download the Goo Manager app then it will install the correct version automatically just follow the steps to save some time for your software engineering studies
I will copy the steps below so you don't have to worry about that link in my previous post.
1- Run GooManager app
2- Click on the upper right 3 dots for settings
3- Click "Install OpenRecoveryScript"
4- Confirm Recovery Install --> Yes
5- Confirm download, reboot, and install --> Yes
6- A download process will start then it will be installed
7- (Optional) Reboot into recovery to ensure that TWRP is successfully installed and working.
And no there is nothing wrong with CWM, I just personally like TWRP
If you are staying with CWM, then just update it to the latest version before installing any 4.2 ROM. I think installing/flashing the latest CWM recovery can be done easily using the "ROM Manager" application from the Play Store
Jb sorcery latest is great and has every tweak you can think of, very stable and they have inverted gaapps!!!

I recommend using TWRP. There were some problems with multiple media folders being created when flashing with CWM. I know latest TWRP did not have this problem. Don't know if latest CWM still does this or not.

The best ROM is the one you like. I know you said 4.4.2, but you might want to consider going to a Lollipop ROM. I've been using AryaMod from over in the international Note 3 forum, and it is awesome. Best ROM i've used for the Note 3. It's a Note 4 port, very stable, and is very customizable. Plus, the development is very fast with that ROM. Take a look for yourself.

Yes, it was a little confusing at first. Here's what I did to get it working.
1. I used this thread to upgrade to NK3 baseband and then root it via Odin.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...-to-root-nf4-knox-0x0-effortless-nf4-t2846142
2. Then I downloaded TWRP Manager from the Play store and installed TWRP 2.8.4.0
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jmz.soft.twrpmanager
3. Next, I did a full wipe/data factory reset, then flashed AryaMod
forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58582992&postcount=2034
4. Finally, I rebooted and flashed v2 of the wifi fix here:

That should get you up and running. Enjoy.

Well...from my experience everything is working. Wifi, bluetooth, gps, etc. I haven't had any fc on anything, and all of the s-pen features work as they should. I haven't dug down and played with all of the settings yet though. There are some advanced settings that I'd like to play with. My speeds on T-Mobile are fantastic, but I don't think that is the ROM.

I haven't flashed the 3.1 ROM yet because I like to wait a while and see if there are any issues with new updates. There have been some reports of some problems, but you can never know whether that is actually the ROM, or just user error (didn't wipe properly, dirty flash, etc.).
My suggestion to you is, since you're going to flash anyway, flash the latest update first (3.1), and see if it works for you. If you have any problems then you can flash 2.0.

Dude, you are using a T-Mobile Note 3 (based on your signature)...
There is simply no ROM that compares to Tweaked ROM. 100% fully functional and tons of customization options.
Some have recommended you move to a Lollipop ROM... Since your statement is avoiding bugs, issues, etc, I would avoid following that bad advice, since every single one of them will be a port, and none of them will have working NFC, and you are bound to not be satisfied. I can't for the life of me understand why people pay 700 bucks for a handheld computer, then ruin it's functionality and strip the cool software and features from it that they paid tons of money for... but to each his own I guess.
Like I said, based on your post, you are best off with Tweaked ROM by dwitherell. I don't know the guy but dang he seems to know his stuff, and does all of his work solo. I've been using his ROMs since I got my Note 2. Won't touch anything else.

can confirm 3.1 works. I tried it out since i like to see what each rom offers and so far havent encountered no bugs and the battery life is amazing. Glad i read into this.
Best ROM out there is the ROM that doesn't mess up your phone, everything works, get and receive all your calls and messages, take great pics, with super battery life. No f/c's ,no freeze, no black unresponsive screen, no incompatible apps.
It's called .................... Stock/rooted/debloated ROM.

Do you want to use anything that requires root? Then yes. You don't? Then no.
I personally do use apps that require root, plus I enjoy having full control over my phones, so I immediately root, unlock the bootloader, and install a custom recovery. But that's not for everyone.
Just use it for a week and see if there's any functionality you miss. Or to put it a different way: when in doubt, no.

YES. The bloatware is ridiculous. I'm probably going to write a tutorial on how to do everything start to finish if you're buying a new 551. Not that bad if you have all the files. Really easy, but good grief, are all the tutorials out there now confusing. Most don't even tell you, you need to downgrade... Took me hours to figure it out. Finally, have a debloated rom, root, and busybox installed so I can install Kali Linux

Same, I am going to wait until Android M as well. I found that when you root phones b4 they get their "improved" stock firmware, the modem/wifi/bluetooth never seem to flash the same and are always buggy. I am being careful with this phone because it works quite good minus the terrible battery life, but on my OnePlus One, I found a 40% increase in battery life even on the early early Android M roms. Seeing that there is no roms even being worked on for 6.0, I am going to play it safe...after all, some of the bloat can be removed without root. Of course not the annoying ones though

Yep that literally posted about the same time I made the comment lol. But having official firmware for Android M built by ASUS themselves, then having it customized by Asus would be better. I do not mean to insult CM, but I have yet to see a truly stable version of their software. Every phone I have had has shown to have issues with CM based roms. It's not the guys customizing the roms, its just the fact that CM is more universal and not necessarily developed for this specific phone by the original coders. Modded code always has issues, and if it comes out perfect, I hope these big companies pay whoever mods it to perfection and gives them a phat paying job. I want ZenUI, its one of the best non AOSP UI out there IMOP. I only want root to clean out the extras I don't want/need. It has more customization than a phone needs for the most part.
I am waiting also.

Hi,
This is a question as well as a suggestion
We p2 users have been bugged with issues or missing features in all custom roms which are not present in stock firmware.
Now my question/suggestion is can we not take the stock firmware with all features enabled and remove all unnecessary apps then replace the entire stock ui with that of custom ROM like resurrection remix or xenon hd or what ever we want?!
Id you find a workaround let us know. I don't have any idea if we can

Even I am wondering about the same thing
I think I can swap the framework.apk and related files and then may need to edit some of the dependencies to apply the changes. Of course this has to be done in the ROM zip file.
Uh I don't see the point actually you're basically referring to a deodexed, debloated ROM with a nova launcher.
Sorry if I got your question wrong. This is what I was able to make up from it.

You are partially correct. But the problem lies in customisation. You see, I am a big fan of extreme customisation. I want to customise the rom entirely. For that, we need either a completely integrated theme engine like miuu or substratum. As you might know, substratum has issues in stock vibe hi.
And xposed is not working for n. Now you tell me what else to do for this.!!!
