I recently purchased a generic USB keyboard/folio for my Samsung Tab A (2017) SM-T380. The keyboard came with a micro USB to USB type C adapter plug to suit my Tablet.
I can't get it to work. Either, there's a problem with the adapter plug or there's some sort of software setting in the Tab A that I've overlooked that is preventing the keyboard from working.
I have tried the keyboard (without the adapter) with my SGS7 and it works fine.
Has anyone encountered this issue and if so, was there a software solution to it?
Thanks in advance.
As an update to my original post, I purchased a seperate micro USB to Type C adapter and tried it out today without success.
So, I'm guessing this is either a hardware issue or a software issue that is preventing me from using the keyboard with my Tab.

Hi All,
Not likely I'm sure, but does anyone know if it is possible to ready a USB key or Flash Drive with the Tilt2? I have a USB-A to Mini-B Cable, so I tried a bunch of USB key's but no joy. I tried using the ExtUSB port on the phone itself and also tried using the USB/Headphone adapter that came with the phone, but no joy.
Anone know of a way/hack/software that would enable this?
Cheers & Thanks.
P.S. - I did a search for this but came up empty-handed...
Uh, pretty sure you can't do it. The USB port on the TP2 has no power to send to the USB thumb thingy.
Hi everyone,
I got a small USB adaptor for my Samsung Galaxy SIII, and managed to connect a standard USB keyboard to the phone. It seems to work as expected. However, I'm unable to switch to a different layout, say Russian. Any advice is welcome. Maybe someone knows the magic key sequence?
Hi guys,
My galaxy nexus screen has been cracked and it does not respond in 75% of the screen.
I bought a MHL to HDMI convertor on amazon and luckily got the phone UI to show up on my TV
Now since the touchscreen won't work , I need to connect a keyboard or mouse via USB OTG and use it for navigation.
Problem is the Galaxy Nexus has only a single microUSB/MHL port combined into one.
I have no idea how to split the output from the phone to connect to a USB OTG cable and MHL to HDMI adapter simultaneously !
Any help will be appreciated,
The phone is not rooted AFAIK , but may be I'm not sure. It was running Android 4.1 JellyBean when I dropped it on the floor
The phone does show up on my Windows PC and I have copied the photos off it. But I still want to copy contacts and SMS messages.
You tried just using something like Android Screencast from the PC (USB debugging is needed)
Also, some MHL adapters have a USB port in them, for power. Have you tried getting a crude micro USB splitter? Like this one? http://www.replacebase.co.uk/micro-usb-female-to-2-x-micro-usb-male-splitter-2392-p.asp#.URk59JGYOBs
Not guaranteed that would work though. Also, a quick google of what you want brings up some others with the same issue, have you tried to see if any of them have succeeded?

Good news
I had a spare galaxy nexus in the office and I gently took the screws of both the devices , and just swapped the displays so that I could quickly turn on usb debugging , backup essential stuff and also turn on bluetooth.
Thanks to some assembly videos on youtube ! will share some pics soon
I've recently purchased a Nexus 7 2013 device and have just ordered a USB OTG cable so I can play movies off a large USB key.
I was just wondering, is it possible to get a full desktop USB keyboard working with the Nexus 7 and that same cable? Do I need any special apps or anything else to get this to work?
I don't need mouse support, just a USB keyboard. TIA
I am using Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ (SM-N975F) with Android 10.
I am able to use the Samsung Dex on PC just fine but when i connect it to the TV through HDMI adapter, it only mirrors the screen and i get no option to turn on Samsung Dex. I have checked the HDMI connection setting too and it's set to start in Dex mode upon connection but still nothing happens.
I tried the same even on Android 9 before getting the update to Androi 10 but the issue faced was the same.
Any idea what to do? Or is there is any thing i am missing or doing wrong?
By the way i am using a USB C adapter which has 2 USB 3 ports, One USB C port and an HDMI port.
Any help would be appreciated.
I didnt know that dex also worked on tv...
it could be a fault in the adapter, it may lack the security or something that is required to pass through to HDMI. as with USB to PC it just transfers the info over a standard USB connection. but a lot of modern devices require certain security and HDMI revisions to actually work with a TV, partly to stop people putting the likes of netflix straight through a capture rig.
if you can get hold of a different make/brand of hub I would try that as it may just be that one.
Just to update that I used Samsung Dex Cable and it worked just fine with the TV. As soon as I connected through it, the option popped on phone for Dex. So yes, my Hdmi to Usbc adapter was at fault and there is always a plus side to use official accessories .
