The phone is better then normal a2 in many ways so they had to cut corners somewhere...
I'm pretty sure the large surface on the back is metal, or at least plastic with a metal coating. The sides and top and bottom parts on the back are plastic however. You can feel the difference in temperature.

It's aluminum, minus the sides, which are plastic. It looks great, in fact, in my opinion, very close to the A1. If you like metal phones, you will not be disappointed. It's a little thicker, but not very.

I have a screen protector and case on it 90% of the time but when I put it in my car dock I have to take it out of the case. I am noticing really small scratches on the bottom of the phone by the Usb and Hdmi ports.
I was wondering if there is anyone who as used any kind of scratch remover or something to buff them out? I have heard of ipod scratch removers and such just looking for anyone's personal experience.
Being thatt eh edges are kinda like rubber coated, its going ot be hard. I would leave it man.
scratch it all off and have a red ring

He's talking about the shiny black plastic that encompasses the top half of the phone, which is actual plastic, and not rubberized plastic. And unfortunately I don't know what you would use to buff them out. However I imagine that you could use a high quality plastic polish and scratch remover to buff it out. Just speculation.

Oh...sorry, misunderstanding....and in that case, i use a black epoxy and fill it in, then sand the residue of so it is flush.
my arc sometimes makes squeaking noises, depending on the way i'm holding it. it seems to be coming from the bottom part or back cover.
does this happen to anyone else?

I used to have this problem. But once I have "properly" attached the back cover, the noise is gone.
I've had a bit of issues, but it seems to be that the back cover doesn't quite fit tightly with the body of the phone. I just moved it around, pressing it here and there, and the squeaking is now at a minimum level.
arc cover
this is one of the reason i am in a fix..
i dont like to put cover to my phone. currently using x10 and there is no problem whatsoever.
it doesn't slip from hand, there arent any finger prints, smudges etc. etc.
how is your experience of arc without cover? ok.. i know now it sweaks.
apart from that.. i heard from some user that it slips from hand, its plastic is not that tough and will get marks on it easily.. is it true?
I had this problem on my Misty Silver phone at the middle edge of the battery cover I think towards only one side. But I think that is because I applied the full body protector on the battery cover too hard to get it perfect. The sound reduced overtime especially, after I removed the cover and fitted it carefully.
Currently, I still haven't applied any protector to my Midnight Blue Arc and hear to squeaky sounds.

regard on the screen protector, have u seen the type like iphone, protect scratch from front and back
My Arc has a creaky battery cover, it is okay at the top end where the headphone socket is but the bottom left and right corners and near the battery had some definite "give". I solved the problem by getting a heat resistant thick tape from Homebase and sticking a couple of strips inside the battery cover. Now it is solid as a rock...what a difference.
No squeaking sounds yet.

Is there a certain type of heat resistance tape you used?
Dont have this problem back cover fits nice

Mine also makes noises sometimes. I already put some tape inside the back cover, but sometimes it squeks nevertheless.
My gf has a Nexus S and its body is much more solidly built.

It's just your typical bog standard tape you can pick up in any DIY store that claims to be heat resistant. I thought heat resistant would be better as I have a bit on the inside back cover that lies above the battery but it probably doesn't have to be at all, just get a nice thick tape. Worked a treat, I have a super un-squeaky back cover now!!
I have just got the Arc, and after a couple of days I had had enough of the squeaking. I then placed two strips (3 cm x 10 cm) of duct tape on the inside of the back cover, and it worked wonders! No more squeaking.
Does anyone know the build quality of this yet?
I haven't had a plastic phone properly since my LG Viewty. Not sure I could go back to having a plastic phone
it is plastic. It has metal inside to make it feel comfortable in the hands.
Its plastic and not metal.
I voided my warranty and your mum.
Plastic material on the outer shell with a metallic inner frame for support.
It will not be an HTC phone. :/ Let's hope the plastic quality has improved to be a bit more on the durable side.

Yeah. I think that is the main concern. How the phone feels. I had an N1 and went to an HTC Sensation and I like the solid feel.
If the GN is solid, durable (scratch resistant), with a flush feel, I do not think it will feel cheap.

If it feels and acts like the plastics on the HTC N1 and Sensation, then, I'll be happy. That stuff is pretty smooth and soft, yet super scratch resistant and tough as nails.
it looked almost rubbery in the presentations..hmmm
Even though it is plastic, I always felt it solid while holding the Nexus S or the SGS2. I like my phones light so don't mind the plastic and they are durable as well.
Not.
The lateral frame is not in metal. It's plastic :-(
Tha back cover il rubbed.

Has anyone purchased a case like this? I am assuming that it is a TPU case with an aluminum bezel thingy around the outside. I would like to see it on a phone to see how much thicker it makes the phone (it looks to be a very thin alternative to a full aluminum bezel). I also am curious as to if it is actually TPU or another material. Thoughts?

P.S. It is also fairly cheap.
It doesnt mention that its TPU.
To me, it looks like a plastic back. I think that if it fell, the clips would break that hold the back to the aluminum.

looks like aluminum and polycarbonate to me, I doubt it's TPU. TPU isn't brittle enough to clip like that, which is why you don't see many TPU cases for slider phones.
That would be sweet though if it were made with TPU along the back with that bezel. Looks nice.

Sent from my phone. Prepare for atrocious Swype typos.
the case i have makes it hard to swipe from the edges. anyone have a recommendation of a cool case that leaves some room around the edges of the display?
What case you do you have? my O'Box Commuter makes it difficult but my Griffin Reveal is substantially easier.

i honestly don't know... its the only one they had at the Verizon store when i got it.
the case does not cover the edges of the display, but i can only see a thin thin line of the bezel between the case and the screen.
I have this one and it's pretty cool, no problems with it.

I just got this one today it comes up the sides just to the edge of the screen and doesn't come above it, covers the beloved dimple, but hardly adds any size to the phone to wreck the feel in the hand.

I also have the below Incipio, better protection but ruined the shape of the phone I couldn't even leave it on a whole day.

Does this have the "sandpaper" texture to it? It looks exactly like this case, except this one is hard: Amazon, Sandpaper Case
I have this case. Very slim, doesn't have a lip to protect the screen when you set it down but it gives you the edge to edge swipe you want.
http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-Palett...&qid=1383968176&sr=1-1&keywords=moto+x+poetic
I'm using the poetic palette as well.
I like it so far, but I also like the diatonic for the protection, button feel, and lip protection. However, the diatonic feels a bit too fat.

I wouldn't call it sandpaper but it does have a slightly rough texture.
I think the Anker, Sandpaper, Bear Motion and the Poetic are all the same case with different branding.

I think the Sandpaper one is a hard case though. The Anker is flexible. I'm leaning towards the Anker--but yes. You're correct.
i got the quicksand. same as the anker sandpaper bear motion. it feels great and does not slide on slick surfaces. i think its the perfect case. only downside is it does not protect the glass.
i am giving away a couple of them maybe a few. over on the moto x support forums. go comment with an idea for the phone and get a chance to win it.

Anyone try the Reveal case by Griffin? How does it compare to the SUPCASE monkey082506 had posted a link to earlier in this thread?
