Your best bet woukd probably be to download your update from sammobile.com and install it as per their instruction. Look into the repartition ing option.

I said "look in to it", what I mean is that sam mobile say that if your upgrading stock make sure you DO tick the box but all the guides on here say avoid and DONT tick the box. Ive just flashed a rom with odin and did NOT tick the box but it was a dmg rom. I would not have thought the 4.3 roms need to alter any partition sizes so try it without repartitioning and if it has issues maybe try it with a repartition.

Are you running stock? A custom rom? Jave you flashed a stock image? If you have flashed a stock image and its not tje correct one then this could be why it wont update. Try flashing a stock 412 image from the carrier that provided the phone or just go straiight for the 4.3 image, getting stock 4.3 installed on your phone will activate the efuse with knox and you wont be able to downgrade after

If its all the same as when you got it, then there shouldnt be any issues. If its under warranty id ask you carrier about a solution, if not id go sammobile.com and use them with odin.

My counter was set to 2 so I triangled away and turned off then flashed stock rom (pre rooted) and the counter was set to 1 but other bits had changed to official. I triangled away again with the new stock rom and recovery and triangle away worked this time, rebooting the phone which it didnt do before (I think) and when it rebooted it loaded a new screen id not seen before (in other words this time it was working properly - cant work correctly on custom roms I guess) after this time it reset everything properly. The option it gave me after it had reset the counters properly it gave me 2 options, 1 reboot, or 2 reboot into download mode which I chose no2. In download mode there were no counters or text or anything but after another reboot and then back into download mode the markers and counter were there all reset hope thats not too unclear :/
Oh dunno if rooting would cause that issue or not but maybe try unrooting before ota. The ota on my stock rom just searches and doesnt do anything. Upgrading to official 4.3 though I cannit recommend, I was going to upgrade to official 4.3 but I am not now, you cannot downgrade and my friend has a s4 and has upgraded his to official 4.3 mk9 (hes never rooted or anything that may tamoer with warranty) and hes quite annoyed with it, prooer laggy etc he wishes he hadnt bothered. I am hoping for arhd 20 to materialize but im noth bothering with the undowngradeable official now

This is the thread I used. I chose the dmg1 from july 13th, I couldn't install an earlier one without messing with the bootloader because ive already upgraded to dmg. i believe I chose the deodexed option
Tbh mate, ive ran 4.3 for a bit and apart from a few small cosmetic changes theres nothing there thats going to improve your phone so unless your buying a Galaxy Gear theres no real point to it imo. Kitkat wont be long, ill give that a go when it turns up
Oh yeah and triangle away is riskey - you could brick your phone so unless your actually sending it back, I wouldn't bother about the counter numbers

You may need a knox free kernal, not sure. You can use Dr Ketans multitool v6 to root and remove knox if you have a custom recovery, or you can install the Xposed Installer (apk file) http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer and then install 'wanam xposed' from the module list. Click to remove knox in the security section of wanam module but i fear that option is just a cosmetic one. If you decide to use a custom recovery, use philz recovery (flash the tar file from odin using the pda tab) but dont flash v6 (has issues), use v5.15

ok thanks tony, and everything in on stock version in my phone
I recently rooted my I9195 successfully. i then flashed a custom kernel i found here on the forum (kernel v1 or sth like that) then my phone wouldn go past the boot white logo screen. i then tried flashing other kernels but they were apparently wrong as some features of my phone didnt work. i finally found the right firmware for my phone and tried to flash it with odin but it failed and now my phone only shows this message where it says that the firmware update failed and i have to use kies in recovery mode.
so i use kies and try the install firmware thing that asks you to put in your model and serial number. i do that and it says the device doesnt support initialisation. tried on another computer and it said that serial number was invalid.. i was very careful when typing it etc.
help.. what do i do?
btw last firmware i had was 4.4.2

I think you should put original back and start over and read forum more howto.
You use ODIN to flash custom rom, why? ODIN is for original rom. With custom rom need use TWRP or other recovery boot.

You don't need root phone before new kernel or custom rom. And i believe you use wrong files for that and now phone wont boot.
Start over with original ROM. With that you can test is your phone ok. Then use ODIN for recovery kernel and custom rom. Also check this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2678420

that works, and it says downloading like normally when you try to flash something with odin, but it fails and gives me this error again: sw rev check fail: fused 2 > binarz 1
the rom im trying to flash is the DBT one in germany.

i now tried the one which is supposed to be the correct rom but i land on the same error again. can someone help me find the correct stock rom?
here are the current device info. it seems that there is no official 4.4.2 rom for my phone. so i ****ed up lol.
Your phone has official 4.4.2 Rom and you are currently using it. If you have Wi-Fi issues, your can try to flash custom kernel (Silviu, alexax)

Hi, i just got a nexus 5x and It is running the latest version of purenexus and has twrp recovery installed. I was wondering if elementalX is compatible with it. I saw a few differant scources that gave mixed answers. I was also wondering what happens when android 6.0.2 or whatever the next android version will be comes out. I saw that at the download page http://elementalx.org/devices/nexus-5x/ there was a differant version for 6.0 and 6.0.1 if i update my rom first and my kernal is at a differant version, or vice versa, will that mess up my phone? Thanks in advance
As long as ROM and kernel are same Android version (6.0.1) , you're good.
Thanks, but what happens during that time just after an update comes out and my rom just updated, and my kernal hasent

It won't update on it's own. You'll have to flash an updated ROM and therefore an updated kernel to match the ROM.
OK, thank you, just one more thing, can flashing a bad kernal hard brick a phone
If you have a problem with a "kernel" you can simply flash the stock kernel via fastboot. Takes less than a minute if you have the factory images already downloaded. And no flashing a bad kernel will not hard brick your device.
Thank you!
I have the elementalx kernel and pure nexus rom too and it's running fine now, except that App Standby doesn't seem to work (all active in developer options, inactive apps). Anyone else having this issue?

Is it necessary to use fastboot to flash the stock kernel back on? What happens if we flash it via TWRP?

If you have a flashable zip of your stock kernel that will work fine. I personally like to have the factory images already extracted to my platform tools before modifying my device. If you have the files it is a simple fastboot flash boot boot.img. But to answer your question a flashable stock kernel will work just fine.
FYI to the thread starter, any ROM will have it's own kernel. So, if you update to a 6.0.2 ROM, it will have a kernel already. If you choose to flash a different kernel, it will need to be a matching Android version.
I bought 2 Galaxy S6 devices, unlocked by the store I bought them from. 3 days ago my wifes phone rebooted and came up with the following error:
KERNEL IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING
Custom binary blocked by FRP Lock.
I tried doing the smart switch restore, but the app doesn't like my model/SN combination. I got ODIN and a Lollipop 5.11.1 firmware for my model, flashed it using the ODIN flash procedure, that was successful, once my phone power cycled it is now stuck on the SAMSUNG logo startup screen and will not boot any further, the error messages have gone away. I can get it into recovery and download mode, but not sure what else to do to fix this bootup problem. Maybe the bootloader is toast?

KERNEL IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING ---> its not error and not important just a message that you use Custome Kernel or Recovery.
Go to Recovery and do Wiping (Cache,Data,All) and reboot it should boot.
if not download latest ROM (PD3 or PD2) and flash using ODin

U must have tried to install a custom recovery or a kernel try to drain s6 battery to 0% to do that go into odin mode let it sit and turn off automatically. .when off plug in charger..charge to about 5% first go into recovery wipe data n cache restart ur phone ...simple restarting the phone wont help ya..if this doesnt help u try installing 5.11 BOL1 stock rom...n then drain it 0% repeat the procedure

Im sure there's a solution that doesn't require a box, but im not aware of it at the moment, If the IMEI/MEID is gone, you'll have to find someone who can repair that, and most claim their repairs only fix the GSM side (IMEI) and doesn't write a new clean sprint MEID to the device. In the end, it may end up being easier to replace the device and sell the current one for parts. If you only need GSM service, then im sure someone, either on here, or another forum, or a auction site, could help you for a fee. Thats all i can suggest at the moment.

try flashing new kernel
Hi,
I have an A720F that uses the A720FXXU2AQFA ROM (ZTO). I need to use the old ROM A720FXXU1APLI (ZTO). For Odin it is not possible to downgrade, it gives error.
I can only upgrade to Odin, not to CWM or TRWP.
I need a solution and I can make a donation through Paypal to those who can help me.
Thanks! Sorry for my bad english!

I have a sales application that makes bluetooth connection with a card reader and marks the placement. The only version that works is the A720FXXU1APLI, then upgrade, does not work 100%. Sometimes it does not connect to BT and it also stops geolocation. I have little knowledge and every time I try to go back to the original ROM it gives an error, I researched and I saw that the problem is that the version on the phone is bigger than the one on the binary. I only know how to use Odin.
I need to be able to install an older binary on my cell phone, downgrade but odin will not let me.
In short, I need to install an older official stock rom but Odin does not allow it.
System Rev. Check fail Device: 1 Binary: 0

Not possible unless you modify the .tar.md5 by removing the .bin files in it, then tar it up and flash in odin.
The secure bootloader (sboot.bin) won't allow the downgrade of itself. Needs to be left at U3.
Modem (modem.bin) must also be left at U3, because downgrade modem to U2 while keeping the U3 bootloader will leave you with unknown network or IMEI loss untill upgraded again.
Same with cm.bin. It needs to be left at U3 afaik.
