Is this the right time to buy PIXEL 2 XL ? - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

Hi All
I do not know if this section is dedicated
I would like to buy pixel XL 2
But with the release of the new pixel is soon ,
is this price a good deal (667 USD) for PIXEL XL 2 BLACK 128 GB ?

I paid the same amount for a refurbished Pixel 2 XL 64GB on Amazon. I'd wait for Pixel 3 XL and perhaps Pixel 2 XL will get a little cheaper. But I'm in Europe, so I just don't know American prices.

Is it new or used?
$667 is average price for a new, never opened P2XL from online resellers. If it has been used for any amount of time, then $667 is too much. You can find plenty of P2XL in great condition for $500-550.
However, the P3XL is right around the corner which means P2XL prices will drop significantly. If you can wait, you will get a lot more for your money buying a new or used P2XL after P3XL is released.

Thanks all for replay
@sublimaze it’s new pixel xl 2 not open but there is 11% drop
But i will wait until pxl3 relese

Google Pixel 2 XL | or | Oneplus 5T

I am confused between google pixel 2 xl and oneplus 5t, which phone should I buy?
The purpose of buying any one of these phones is to install different custom roms.
so what you people suggest which phone will have more custom roms?
Thank you.
should surely be 5T. but launching with Android N just sucks!
I came from a op5.. Although both are during 835, the pixel is so much smoother and also the touch latency is much lower..
Facing the same dilemma here.
On one hand, the Pixel 2 XL is a clear winner for me since great (if not the best) camera is very important to me. However, the screen issues (talking about REAL issues like flashing, green lines, etc) are putting me off since I don't live in a country where Google has an official store, meaning - every return/warranty claim is going to be a nightmare.
On the other hand, the Oneplus 5T seems like an almost perfect device. Great build, fast and fluid UX, low price tag, but there are 2 things holding me back - the camera isn't as good as the Pixel's. Not even close. 2nd thing is security - no timely updates and the whole spying/data mining fiasco lately just shows how security is NOT taken seriously by Oneplus, unfortunately.
So I'm basically torn
You can buy 2 op5t for the price of one pixel. So you get good value for money. Pixel 2 xl doesn't seem good value.

Pixel 2 XL is more expensive, but better in every way (except charging speed)

If a person is buying a phone just to root and ROM..... no, the One+ is a better buy so long as you're not worried about the camera. For the better camera and a fully device supported over the life of the phone the Pixel is the better buy.
If your just talking about custom roms go with the 5t.

Is the Oneplus usable on all major carriers now? I always wanted one, but I'm on Verizon.
If you care about having Google's android and functions and 3 years of update (3 versions after Oreo) go for the Pixel 2 XL.
But of course it's more expensive

If you don't care much of camera quality go for the 5T. It's cheaper and you can buy other toys with your money.

Is it too late to get the Pixel XL?

Hello everyone!
Basically my question is in the title, I am just wondering if it is too late... I am a proud owner of an HTC M8 running Lineage and Oreo but it is time to move on after almost 4 years. After this phone, I am a big fan of HTC because this one is an indestructible tank and since the OG Pixel XL came out, I fell in love with the phone. First, it is a Pixel. Second, it is HTC made.
I am thinking to get a Pixel XL 128 or to use a bit more money and to get a Note 8. Both used of course, I do not have money for new ones.
What are your opinions on this subject, is it too late for the OG Pixel XL? Is the hardware too old now in 2018? I want a phone that I can use at least 3-4 years.
I am hoping that you can help me out here

Depends on the price you pay, I guess, I have the 128Gb version and am very happy with it, also purchased used. The Snapdragon 821 (msm8996) is still a decent processor and the device performs very well for my needs.
Firmware support will likely end in October of this year, and security updates at the same time next year. According to Google anyway, however, the device is still in active development here on XDA and will be for some time to come, I think anyway. Foregoing some unforeseen disaster, I don't plan on getting rid of mine for a while...
I just got mine, a second hand for approximately 250 euro and i'm very happy
SD 821 still decent, and support will probably continue after google support ends on octobre
I just got mine. Unlocked, flashed P and played around with a few roms. Considering most phones aren't even on Oreo yet this phone is still very relevant I bet we even get Q next year.

It's not too late for sure. I have one XL 128gb. He died in January 1st so I had to start a RMA process. I live in Brazil and I friend in Charlotte did it for me. Anyway, meantime I purchased a Note8 and two Pixels 2 XLs. I just can't live without my note and all my two Pixels 2 are sold. My Pixel XL arrives 4 days ago and I can say that Pixel OG don't loose in anything. Camera are the same, my opinion, and the screen is far better than the Pixel 2 XL.
Pixel OG is a device that still worth to buy. Also Android Phone is coming as well

Dilemma| Pixel 2xl 128gb for 640$ vs OP6 for 560$

I have a 6p 32gb for now, thought about upgrading and I don't want to wait for the Pixel 3, so I have 2 options and I want your opinions.
In terms of storage, I don't really need 128gb, 64 is just enough, though the Pixel offer is only for 128
Pixel has better camera, faster updates, water resistant, and dual speakers. Oneplus is cheaper, has a bigger screen with notch ?, newer processor, and better battery life, also 3.5mm jack. So it depends on what you want out of your phone.
Pixel 2 XL. It's going to be updated for 3 years.
For me, the continued updates are very important.
If OP6 supported Verizon, I would move back to them in a second. The devs and support are as good as anybody, and they support bootloader unlocking. They've had some issues with customer support at times, like the cc fraud problem, otherwise, they are posed to continue good success. Camera isn't that big of a deal to me personally if the Pixel is slightly better. The case, near edge less top bottoms and sides make it more comfortable and better looking as well. Loved my 5t.
Would recommend pixel 2 XL.
I was in same dilemma too few weeks back. After looking at colleagues op6 and pixel 2 xl, went with pixel 2 xl. A very hard choice for me as choosing a single sim pixel 2 xl vs dual sim op6 (always favored dual sim before).
For me, I liked the pixel 2 xl display, sound and camera much better than op6. I also got info from colleagues that battery life us better in pixel 2 xl than op6.
I am happy with pixel 2 xl now.

I'm using both and think the Pixel 2 XL is a better daily user. Everyone's opinion is different - depends on hand feel, usability, screen, speed, etc.
The Pixel does it ALL....
Thank you guys

Partly agree with your thought process.
Another thought process is high cost mobile may always outperform low cost mobiles overall. So pixel 2 xl will come out better overall anyway than OP 6 right.
Check out the review of OP 6 whose UI fluidity is worse than pixel 2 xl surprisingly even for me (expected better UI fluidity in OP 6 due to less resolution screen and better processor than pixel 2 XL). Other areas of speed tests do resulted in good in op6 though.

You liked the display no offence the pixel has a inferior display.
Camera smashes the op6 out of the park

<sarcasm>Oh my, chime in on the horrid blue shift and terrible colors of the Pixel 2 XL.</sarcasm>
Better yet, don't. Both issues are totally overrated. If you really think the FHD display of the OP6 with notch is superior to the QHD screen of the P2XL without notch then whatever drugs you are on must be really good.

Hmmm, not sure about inferior or superior spec. But I like the display of pixel 2 xl more than op6 one (not sure it is due to resolution may be, people say 1080p is sufficient but my eyes are demanding more) My s9+ display on other hand feels good than pixel 2 xl though.
I think that Pixel's display is superior to OP6's, Google did a lot lately to improve the colors and reduce the blue tint. I had S8+ and when comparing those two, the amount of blue tint was the same on both. It was visible on Pixel a couple of degrees earlier, but that was pretty much it.
Maybe I am just lucky with my Panda 128GB...
Get the pixel 2 xl coz when the 3 comes out you can trade in the 2 for up to 500$ you'd only be losing a 100$ or so. That's what did i picked a 128 panda used pixel 2 xl in mint conditions off swappa for 570$.
I own both. I'm selling the op6. I told myself I'd never try another option device but bought one anyway. Every opportunity device I've owned has had some odd hardware issue and none of them were the same. Also the UI had some odd behaviour even though it looks stock.

I am not sure why everobody (I mean all the reviewers) calls OnePlus software stock..I feel it's far from stock...their settings page design is still struck at Android 7 days...

I am not from the us as you can probably see

from Pixel 2 xl to pixel 3a xl ?

Hi, is it worth to upgrade from a pixel 2xl to a pixel 3a xl ?
not sure if that would be an upgrade.
I see no reason to change to 3a from 2 except headphone jack.
I did it only because I'm a sucker for new devices and it only cost me $80 through T-Mobile. Been using the 3a Xl since I bought it. P2XL is now my backup device. There's no major differences performance wise; they seem very similar.
but pixel 3a have an illimitate space for photos?

Negative, just high quality not original quality like the pixel xl or pixel 2xl

How's better life compare? I'd think the 3A XL would destroy the 2 XL, but who knows

Compared to a new P2XL, who knows...but the P3a XL slays my old P2XL in battery life.; but I bought the P2XL on launch-day so it's a bit abused.
In terms of performance, both phones should be neck and neck. While I haven't owned a previous device, I'm getting 6-8 hours SOT with the 3a XL, which is definitely great for a phone at this price point! It's like a super charged Snapdragon 821, which is, honestly, still a very capable chipset, considering that any other phone at this price point is gonna have MUCH lower specs. Battery won't disappoint!
Is there any issues with your 2 XL?
Personally I think I would be hard pressed to buy the 3a XL if I had a working 2 XL in hand. The performance isn't going to differ greatly between the two phones. The screen might be better on the 3a XL, but that's about it. Of course you will have a longer life expectancy with the 3a XL with three years of updates coming. But I think I would save my money and wait for the 4 XL or 4a XL.
This coming from someone that just bought the 3a XL which was a true upgrade from the Honor 8 I was using. Of course I was also able to turn in an old Apple phone (an AT&T 6s) that my daughter had and got $264 in credit for it , so the total cost was much lower than list price too.

That's a little hard to argue, there's some great options out there, especially with port in deals to several pre paid carriers.

I mean, there are options out there. But there's plenty of people who don't want to be tied down to carrier unlock systems. Prepaid unlocking can be a nightmare depending on whichever company you go with. Sure, it's a question of convenience. So if you're someone who doesn't care about this, sure. Go prepaid. But if you're like me, someone who can't stand the fine print issues you may come across, I still think the 3a XL's price point is solid

Does Google Pixel 3a XL still worth purchasing

Hi all
I have an option to get this phone for 370$, and wanted to know if u recommend buying this 1 although 4a may come out soon
Appreciate ur input in advance
Peace
Not for $370, no. Some rumors have the 4a coming out around $350-400. The one thing with the 3a XL though is unmatched battery life. The 4a wont touch in in that regard. The 4a is also going to be a lot smaller physically and have a slightly smaller screen.
If you could get a 3a XL for ~$300 or less I would do it but not at that price.
Thank you so much for the useful info
Bought 1 black and 1 purple Pixel 3a XL from Best Buy unlocked for $319.99 each on 5/22/20 so pretty sure $370 is not a good deal.
