Hi, is it worth to upgrade from a pixel 2xl to a pixel 3a xl ?
not sure if that would be an upgrade.
I see no reason to change to 3a from 2 except headphone jack.
I did it only because I'm a sucker for new devices and it only cost me $80 through T-Mobile. Been using the 3a Xl since I bought it. P2XL is now my backup device. There's no major differences performance wise; they seem very similar.
but pixel 3a have an illimitate space for photos?

Negative, just high quality not original quality like the pixel xl or pixel 2xl

How's better life compare? I'd think the 3A XL would destroy the 2 XL, but who knows

Compared to a new P2XL, who knows...but the P3a XL slays my old P2XL in battery life.; but I bought the P2XL on launch-day so it's a bit abused.
In terms of performance, both phones should be neck and neck. While I haven't owned a previous device, I'm getting 6-8 hours SOT with the 3a XL, which is definitely great for a phone at this price point! It's like a super charged Snapdragon 821, which is, honestly, still a very capable chipset, considering that any other phone at this price point is gonna have MUCH lower specs. Battery won't disappoint!
Is there any issues with your 2 XL?
Personally I think I would be hard pressed to buy the 3a XL if I had a working 2 XL in hand. The performance isn't going to differ greatly between the two phones. The screen might be better on the 3a XL, but that's about it. Of course you will have a longer life expectancy with the 3a XL with three years of updates coming. But I think I would save my money and wait for the 4 XL or 4a XL.
This coming from someone that just bought the 3a XL which was a true upgrade from the Honor 8 I was using. Of course I was also able to turn in an old Apple phone (an AT&T 6s) that my daughter had and got $264 in credit for it , so the total cost was much lower than list price too.

That's a little hard to argue, there's some great options out there, especially with port in deals to several pre paid carriers.

I mean, there are options out there. But there's plenty of people who don't want to be tied down to carrier unlock systems. Prepaid unlocking can be a nightmare depending on whichever company you go with. Sure, it's a question of convenience. So if you're someone who doesn't care about this, sure. Go prepaid. But if you're like me, someone who can't stand the fine print issues you may come across, I still think the 3a XL's price point is solid

I am enjoying it. I switched to metro for a g7 power only a month ago lol and here I am now on this Pixel
Related
I have a 6p 32gb for now, thought about upgrading and I don't want to wait for the Pixel 3, so I have 2 options and I want your opinions.
In terms of storage, I don't really need 128gb, 64 is just enough, though the Pixel offer is only for 128
Pixel has better camera, faster updates, water resistant, and dual speakers. Oneplus is cheaper, has a bigger screen with notch ?, newer processor, and better battery life, also 3.5mm jack. So it depends on what you want out of your phone.
Pixel 2 XL. It's going to be updated for 3 years.
For me, the continued updates are very important.
If OP6 supported Verizon, I would move back to them in a second. The devs and support are as good as anybody, and they support bootloader unlocking. They've had some issues with customer support at times, like the cc fraud problem, otherwise, they are posed to continue good success. Camera isn't that big of a deal to me personally if the Pixel is slightly better. The case, near edge less top bottoms and sides make it more comfortable and better looking as well. Loved my 5t.
Would recommend pixel 2 XL.
I was in same dilemma too few weeks back. After looking at colleagues op6 and pixel 2 xl, went with pixel 2 xl. A very hard choice for me as choosing a single sim pixel 2 xl vs dual sim op6 (always favored dual sim before).
For me, I liked the pixel 2 xl display, sound and camera much better than op6. I also got info from colleagues that battery life us better in pixel 2 xl than op6.
I am happy with pixel 2 xl now.

Partly agree with your thought process.
Another thought process is high cost mobile may always outperform low cost mobiles overall. So pixel 2 xl will come out better overall anyway than OP 6 right.
Check out the review of OP 6 whose UI fluidity is worse than pixel 2 xl surprisingly even for me (expected better UI fluidity in OP 6 due to less resolution screen and better processor than pixel 2 XL). Other areas of speed tests do resulted in good in op6 though.

<sarcasm>Oh my, chime in on the horrid blue shift and terrible colors of the Pixel 2 XL.</sarcasm>
Better yet, don't. Both issues are totally overrated. If you really think the FHD display of the OP6 with notch is superior to the QHD screen of the P2XL without notch then whatever drugs you are on must be really good.

Hmmm, not sure about inferior or superior spec. But I like the display of pixel 2 xl more than op6 one (not sure it is due to resolution may be, people say 1080p is sufficient but my eyes are demanding more) My s9+ display on other hand feels good than pixel 2 xl though.
I think that Pixel's display is superior to OP6's, Google did a lot lately to improve the colors and reduce the blue tint. I had S8+ and when comparing those two, the amount of blue tint was the same on both. It was visible on Pixel a couple of degrees earlier, but that was pretty much it.
Maybe I am just lucky with my Panda 128GB...
Get the pixel 2 xl coz when the 3 comes out you can trade in the 2 for up to 500$ you'd only be losing a 100$ or so. That's what did i picked a 128 panda used pixel 2 xl in mint conditions off swappa for 570$.
I own both. I'm selling the op6. I told myself I'd never try another option device but bought one anyway. Every opportunity device I've owned has had some odd hardware issue and none of them were the same. Also the UI had some odd behaviour even though it looks stock.

Not that much of a upgrade for me. Maybe OnePlus 6T or Note 9. But Pixel 2XL is my DD!
The screen is nicer, the camera is a little bit better and more responsive, the phone is a little bit lighter and feels better in the hand not as Big And Chunky but I don't know if it is a reasonable $900 upgrade. I guess like going from an S8 to an S9. The phone is definitely cool though but I did return mine and I'm using my pixel 2 XL because it is not a big difference. I use that money to buy a 4K OLED TV 65 in
The Pixel 3 is more like a Pixel 2.1 imho
Just coming back from picking up a used 128gb pixel 2 xl and will be boxing up the Pixel 3 xl to return tomorrow. After a lot of faffing around I ultimately decided the "upgrade" wasn't really worth it. I had the 2XL, went to Huawei mate 20 pro, returned due to screen issues, then tried the Pixel 3 xl. Decision to return to the 2XL swayed of course by the distortion of the lower speaker of the 3XL....
Ultimately I'm gonna be happy to wait and see what Pixel 4 XL looks like

Hey hey! Thanks matey, good to be back home
Upgrade? Nah. The days of 'upgrading' (more like replacing) my phone every year is over. Why would I need another phone that is just as capable as the phone I already have? People use PCs for 5+ years without a single upgrade because it's not really needed (This coming from a Gamer)... It's time we started treating phones the same. There's nothing newer phones can do that a phone from 2-3 years ago can't. Save your money and spend it on something that is actually worth it... And honestly, no one cares what phone you have. Don't treat it as some kind of status symbol... You'd be better off buying some clothes or shoes if that's your goal. And yes, I understand that not everyone views their phones as such, but many do.

I went from pixel 2 XL, to note 9, to op6, back to note 9, to mate 20 pro and now I’m back with pixel 2 XL.
It was a very exhausting exercise! I’m now content with the pixel 2 XL, offers great value for money used compared to the competitors and is a no brainer.
I was tempted to try the op6t but remember from the op6 that the speaker was very tinny. Once you go dual speakers it’s hard to go back to single.
So for everyone thinking of moving, don’t do it, wait till pixel 4 XL and see what that brings.
I'm actually going from pixel 3 to pixel 2 xl

I haven't purchased the 3 XL but I already know it won't be a good upgrade for me.
For one, the price for the 128GB 3XL is roughly $1400 CAD. :silly:
Two, that notch.
Three, the upgrades seem minor.
And finally, I had to RMA my 2 XL for screen burn-in and I got lucky with a brand new 2 XL! Fresh battery, got to experience the whole unboxing for the first time since my original 2 XL was purchased second hand.
Looks like I'll definitely be staying with this until the Pixel 4 XL, hopefully the notch size is significantly reduced, or better yet, completely gone by then!

If you've had a Pixel before and like the experience it's more of the same, if not, reviews often mention the surprisingly satisfying ownership experience and I agree with that assessment. I watched a video before the flagship 3s came out last fall, it was done by the dude in the Unbox Therapy videos. In it he was at an event in Vegas and up in what looked like a rather nice suite with a group of other YouTubers liked MKB. The premise was pretty simple, he walked around and asked everyone what phone they had in their pockets right then The Pix 2 would end up tied with iPhones fire in the most pocket honors. That's rather telling when the Pix had been out for the better part of a year and these are guys who have tried everything.
Realistically the buy-in is fairly cheap with all the day one deals and it's certainly an inexpensive way to scratch that new tech itch assuming you're falling prey to one.

Some more info would help. Like, what do you like / hate about the LG G7. Do you prefer feature filled custom UI / skins. Whats your thoughts, if any on stock vanilla android? Tell us what features you like most about the G7 and you can't go without. that will give us a better idea
The only 2 things I see about the G7 that is better is the SD845 chipset (it's faster than the Pixel 3a's SD670) and memory card expansion. Which the 3a lacks.
If neither of those 2 matter to you, and having a pure Android experience with timely updates does. Then go for the 3a
I just upgraded from the LG G7 and have had the Pixel 3a in hand for a few days. Performance wise there is not a huge difference. Do miss the wireless charging aspect, but I can live without it. Software experience and battery life are stellar not to mention the camera which blows the G7 out of the water. Truly amazed at how good the camera is with literally every picture I take. If you want the camera and software updates just do it. I do not think you will be disappointed. O and the speaker on the phone is quite good. Not as much bass as the G7 , but the stereo sounds is an improvement from the single down firing speaker on the G7.
yeah I came from S10 plus and my S10 plus had issues with waking up in my pocket and etc. so I off it and bought the Pixel 3A XL and I hadn't bought a google phone since the Nexus 6, and I`m really pleased with the 3a XL, since I didn`t buy the Pixel 3 XL, the camera is awesome on the Pixel 3A XL, so I want the other features that are missing, IP68 wireless charging, 845 SD, QHD display, front stereo speakers, but for the 479.00 price its definitely worth it, I will maybe it keep it as back up phone , I have already ordered my Pixel 3 XL from BHPHOTO and when I bought the 3A XL I got a 100.00 gift card from BHPHOTO for anything in there store so I got the PIXEL 3 XL 128gb for 679.99 plus tax, also I was pleasantly surprised with ATT service, right out of the box the 3A XL wifi and VoLte worked out the box.

There is a possibility that most Chinese phones have backdoors where the Chinese can hack then and get your info.... At least that is what I understand from what our government is telling us about chinesse produced Telecom equipment (not that I agree with it all...but just the fact that it could be a possibility is enough for me to want to stay away).

What did people who switched from OnePlus to Pixels dislike about the OnePlus phones (aside from potential security holes for the Chinese government - I couldn't care less if they were spying on me).
I was considering trading my 3XL for the OP7Pro as that 90hz display looked amazing when playing with it in the store.

I don't worry about the whole Chinese government conspiracy theories. lol. I personally changed back because I love the pure android google experience, I don't like any slight change or deviation no matter how small. Oneplus isn't far from it but once you've used pure android (for me) nothing really ever compares. I even rooted and installed the pixel experience rom and it got me close but it wasn't the same coming from a pixel 2XL. Since I've switched I have no itch or thought to unlock my bootloader or want to flash anything. Don't get me wrong it is a beautiful phone but its not for me.
Lol, this has to be a joke right? Pixel 3 XL may lack more than 4GB ram, but it is far more superior device than oneplus will ever be.
Software experience and Camera is just galaxies away from oneplus. I personally would never ever consider oneplus over pixel devices, or any other android flagships. Oneplus is just getting too big headed.
They are charging $1000+ CAD. Way too overpriced.

There’s zero objectivity in your statements. A pixel 3 XL 128gb in Canada costs 1260 dollars so I’m not sure how the price is a factor here for what you get.
Plus I wouldn’t go as far as saying the pixel 3 is galaxies ahead in software and camera. The software is almost identical with tweaks baked in by OnePlus. The pixel takes better pics but that doesn’t mean OnePlus is horrible. You cant just pick and choose things to suit your bias. What about the screen , 855, ram, cooling, 3 focal camera lengths and larger battery lol
I was so close to selling my Pixel 3 XL, it's in amazing condition, not one scratch, and still has 8 month warranty...
BUT
I can't stand curved edges. The way I hold a phone, it would drive me crazy. Why in the world would they curve the edges? Crazy.

To be fair the OnePlus 7 pro is the newest generation and it still can't match the pixel for camera. But no point comparing until the pixel 4 .
Hi, which phone would you go for the pixel 3 XL or pixel 3a XL if they were both the same price? Which they are in the UK since the pixel 3a XL is £469 BNIB and the pixel 3 XL is on eBay for around £450 refurbished.
The issues I have with the pixel 3 XL seem to be all the bugs that seemed to have plagued it since it’s release such as lagging apps and poor ram management which was addressed in recent updates but many users have still complained about on going issues. Another issue seems to be for myself is the notch looks really ugly I wonder if it’s an real issue when using the phone daily.
The clear positives are just the raw power the phone has due to a better processor also it has an IP rating. Plus the build quality is better.
The Pixel 3a XL seems to perfect for my needs but the only downsides I see are the fact it runs a much less powerful processor which doesn’t seem to be bad when used on a day to day basis but I wonder how well it will hold up in the long run let’s just say in the next two years.
Any thought on which phone I should pick? The most important aspect of the phone for me would be it’s longevity.

For me its bigger battery i had the pocophone before that and honelsty the performance on the pixel 3a xl is better that the poco, also the battery lasts me 3 days with sot 7 hours minimum.

Tbh the 3a/xl will be plenty for the next 2 years. Some people are still using the OG pixel and even Nexus 6p to this day.
Not to mention notches suck and I personally refuse to support it which is the main reason why I got the 3a xl over the Moto g7 plus.
I haven't used the Pixel 3 XL. But I have used the Original Pixel XL, the Pixel 2, and also other phones like OnePlus 5. However, I have to say, now that I'm using Pixel 3a XL, I find Pixel 3a XL to be the best Phone I have ever used so far.
That's a hard question and one that ultimately the user will have to decide for themselves.
Personally I haven't used the original 3 series, but the 3a XL has been a great phone for me and I can't see myself trading it for a 3 XL unless I was able to test drive the 3 XL to make sure it was better before getting it.
- I never think "this is slow" or "studdery" except when trying to use Facebook via Chrome (the Facebook app works great which leads me to believe it is a Facebook issue, not a phone issue).
- The battery life is great and better than the 3 XL
- The main camera is the same as the 3 series. Of course you do loose the wide angle front camera and the second rear camera, so if those are "must haves" then you know your answer
- The 3a doesn't have the extra photo processor, but this just means the pictures take about 3-4 seconds to process instead of nearly instant on the 3 series. I see the "processing" notification sometimes when reviewing just taken pictures, but I have never been annoyed at it.
- The 3 series comes with free unlimited photo backup until 2022 of original quality sized files. The 3a only allows unlimited backups of compressed size (which is normal and not an exclusive benefit of the 3a).
- The 3a will have a longer update lifecycle.
Those are just a few of the difference I can think of off hand.
Thanks for all the replies. Just wanted to add what I want in a phone is everything that the pixel 3a XL has but the only concern I have is the processor used. Now I know in terms of day to day usage I won’t find it slow but my concern is how well do mid range processor do in the long run? Are my concerns unwarranted?

I personally don't see any real difference between my Pixel 3a XL and my old Pixel 2 in terms of performance. So, the processor shouldn't be a concern.
And the Camera on the Pixel 3a XL is top notch!

I use my phone to game with sillent hills on the psp emulator that was the most demanding game i ever played on poco ,it run smoothly on pixel 3a xl ,just make sure to put the opengl option and not vulkan cause the phone has a decent graphics card the 615 can handle anything.
