Unfortunately, the charging port on my venerable Tab S 10.5 is becoming a little loose, so that with any cable (and I've tried plenty) it will go back and forth between charging and not charging at random, even if the tablet and the cable are completely immobile. Has anyone replaced the charging port? If so, how hard is it to do?

I just purchased this unit. is it normal that the Stock Cable is Hard to Plug on the Charging Port of the Phone..
i need to try so many times before i can plug the charging cable to charging port of the phone before i can plug it successfully. i'm thinking of breaking the charging port if this is the case? Anyone who have the same concern? Thanks

I noticed this as well. hopefully if something gets broken its more likely to be the connector on the cable than the charging port. I have tried a few other cables as well and all are pretty difficult to insert.
Well the way I see it would you rather have it flop around and be loose, or have a night tight fit?
On a more serious note I had the same issue when I first recieved my F400S. After a week or so it got better, you can always try an older micro usb cable thats more broken in to avoid this issue.
when i first got the phone it was like what you've desribed. but after a while, it wasn't an issue anymore, i guess its a good sign that the phone is brand spanking new.
Same for me, hard To plug in ...

Hi,
I tilt the usb-connector up (just a bit) while plugging it in.
Greetz
It requires a downward angle tilting towards the device to insert.
Same for me, but once you're using qi charging and Wi-Fi file transfer, you'll hardly ever use the port.
got it! it was like virg** phone. haha..
wow same issue here.

Only way to get it in is by tilting the cable downward. Tried few cables, they are all doing the same thing. Exchange perhaps?

Tilting the cable to plug in seems to be the norm on pretty much every G3. I doubt exchanging it will help.
Once you've done it for a while, it should become pretty easy to do.
Tilting the cable and just dealing with it are fine, but what happens when you stay finding usb cables that don't want to charge your G3 properly? I have one (very nice) 10ft cable and my phone plays a game of connecting and disconnecting while trying to charge with this cord. This courts does not give me the same problems on other devices. However the G3 charges just fine on all my other cables. Not using this cable is an obvious answer but i worry that the problem could get worse and what if I start having problems with other chargers?
For now, the solution is to tilt the cord slightly downward (or upward, depending on your perspective) as the port is just sliiiiightly more flush with the opening. My advice is to get used to doing this. A broken charger port is really a PITA, so taking an extra 2 seconds to plug it in is the prudent choice. My dad gave me a lot of good advice when I was growing up, and one of the gems turns out to be "don't force things."
As mentioned, once we get some wireless charging back covers on a more accessible basis, we'll all just use wireless charging and never plug in again. Except in the car.
The cable from my old GS4 plugs in very very easily. I haven't tried charging with it tho. I use it mainly for usb mtp.

Difficult at first. It did get better for me though. I too thought i had damaged it or that it had shipped that way. And I also thought I was just breaking it more each time I charged and contemplated exchanging LOL. Make sure cord is facing the right way first (im still trying to put it in upside down sometimes), then you do have to tilt it down a bit to get in initially and then it tilts slightly up before fully inserting. It was very diificult to do the first couple days. Day 5 and its way easy. Hope this has helped and put your mind at ease This is my first Android phone and i'm luvin it!
the past new phones i had. was always hard at first to plug it in.
just gotta lube it up
Any new updates on this? I guess tilting the cable a bit is working, but will it ever get to the point it will go straight in? It really appears that this is not a defect but a LG design for the port.

still the same.. still virgin after many charging cycle
I agree with what was previously stated, after a week with phone, I've become used to putting the cable in. I'm pleased with the tight fit as I've had devices where it feels loose and unsecured.
It ain't nothing but a G thing baby... Lg G3 LGSL990
My sgt 3 wont turn on. haven't used it about like 2 months, so It has been completly shut down, now when Im trying to charge it it says, "Voltage to low, need to be above 3.4v" And Im charing with an iPad adapter, which should be fine, right? I dont have the original charger.
Actually I dont know what rom I even use, think it was CAGROM, not sure. How do I start it up? Cant get to recovery even..
Do you have another Samsung device? Or any recent device. While it may seem like the USB chargers would all have the same voltage, they do not. I have plugged my Galaxy S5 into the port on a Charger delivered with an iPhone 5s and it charged much more slowly.
I suggest trying a different USB adapter. If it still does not charge you may have to open the Tab unplug and re attach the battery cable.

Yes I've but that is for a Nexus 5 (LG original), and the adapter is pretty small, dont think it's 3.4v in that one. I've tried diffrent cables, and that didnt help.

agdi,
you can try plugging you tab to a powered usb port on your pc.
leave it sit overnight, if you can power it on come morning,
turn off wifi, mute sound, disable location/sync and drop you screen brightness as low as it will go,
then suspend your tab and leave it connected to suck up more of a charge.
your charger needs to be
input 100-240V~ 50-60Hz 0.35A
output 5.3V===2.0A

I got this one charging that my sister dropped off to fix by removing the back un-clipping the battery connector then clipping it back in it back in

Something seems to be wrong with my charging port, lately its been charging at a slower rate and at times when I use my phone while charging, the percentage actually drops. I am using the standard OEM charger and also once in awhile it wouldn't charge and I would either have to fiddle with the plug or restart my phone. Anyone know what the issue is?

Some basic stuff, just to eliminate the usual suspects before going any further:
1. Have you tried another USB cable?
2. Have you tried another charger?
3. Have you tried another USB cable AND another charger?
Of course, it may indeed be a problem with the port on the phone. But in my experience, USB cable is the most typical reason for weird things going on with charging, as well as data transfer...

Yes, I've probably tried over 5 different usb cables and chargers from friends and around my house, still the same problem. I'm thinking it may be the port.
So far, in the past months or so, my phone started acting up with the charging, then my battery died and could not power up my phone unless charged, replace the battery, charging issue was still there and now recently charging slower plus my microphone is dead. I wonder if how hard would it be to replace to port. Trying to prolong this phone until Z4 is out.
My resent pi started acting up... Fast charging doesn't work at all only when wireless fast chargeing... Only cable charging and that is it some time cable seem to disconnect and connect by ore self and suggestion on what to do

I would suggest two things... Start with blowing out any dust/crud stuck in the charging jack on the bottom of the phone. If still not charging properly, replace your charging cable with a new Samsung cable meant for the phone. I'm not 100% sure on our Note 5, but previously it takes an original Samsung cable to be sure you get proper (and fast) charging. If you do both of those things and it still doesn't charge properly, there might be damage to the charger port.

This happened to my Note 5 as well. Using a new usb cord works temporarily, but always goes back to not being able to fast charge eventually.
The fix I did and works, use a small instrument (tweezers, knife, etc.) and carefully bend the usb pin up (towards the screen) a little bit. Fixed mine completely, now my Note 5 fast charges 100% of the time, links to my desktop, and whatever else I connect it too.
As of today, when I plug in the charger it will show the Dash charging symbol, then cut in and out a few times before it stays charging. I updated to 5.0.3 yesterday if it means anything.
Is this normal? I couldn't find anyone else reporting this.
It happens to me too, even back in Nougat. It starts as regular charging and then a couple of seconds later, switches to Dash. I figure the delay is due to the charger and phone figuring out how much battery the phone has left to determine how much amps to push through. Dash charging operates at different amperages depending on the voltage of the battery. Thing is, that either that never seemed to happen on my OnePlus 5 or I never noticed it, but on the 5t it does.
I think I'd be more comfortable with your issue. When I see the charging LED flashing and the charging notification disappearing and reappearing, it's unsettling.
My Nexus 5X would do this as pocket lint would build up in the USB port, preventing the USB cable from fully seating. Every so often I would have to take a small needle (something non conductive would probably be better) and carefully clean around the edges to pull out the lint. I was always amazed at how much build up really does end up in the USB port and headphone jack.
I used to have that issue with old micro USB ports and this definitely reminds me of that. I'm concerned though because I've had the phone less than a week and the port is clean. I also get that satisfying 'click' when plugging in the charger.
Ah, well that probably isn't your problem then. I would try another charger and cable to try and isolate the problem between the phone, cable, and charger.
Remember the OnePlus cable is unique, you can't use just any USB C cable with the dash charger. I believe IIRC the OEM cable has a 10k resistor, while most in spec USB C cables will have a 56K resistor. However you can use another charger and cable and see if it cuts out as well.

We have three 5t phones here all purchased last week. I tried all three charges that came with the phone and it does this with each one, all plugged into different outlets.
We updated a 2nd one to 5.0.3 and now this one also has the charging notifications flicker on and off about 7 times before it stays charging normally. I haven't tested the 3rd yet because it was fully charged when I came home.
It's odd that it is two of our devices now doing this and I haven't seen anyone else with this problem. I would assume that we got phones out of a defective batch, but they were definitely not doing this before the update.
Just an update, I wiped system and cache and it still does this.
It didn't do it when I plugged in at 88% immediately after wiping. But it does do it when I plug in at around 30% like I usually do.
I'm wondering now if they all do this after the 5.0.3 update and no one really notices.
