I cannot connect to any network except 2g and I can't send calls or receive messages when on 2g. When the phone boots up, I get a signal icon with the letter "R" next to it and have the numbers 3107 as my carrier, then it switches to verizon. And since the carrier's verizon, I can't freely edit apns because verizon's stupid
Maybe give us some clue as to what you are running and what caused the problem.

This problem has been fixed thanks to @stebomurkin420, just needed to flash original nougat firmware apparently it was a verizon provisioning issue

Hey all,
I've searched and only found this issue with ATT G3's that are unlocked and used on the TMO network. My problem is that I only intermittently receive MMS on a TMO G3 on TMO.
Not sure what the deal is since it's intermittent and seems random.
Device Info:
D851
Android 5.0.1
Kernel 3.4.0
Build Number LRX21Y
Software Version D85120b
All the searching I've done seems to point to an issue with IPV6 and APN settings.
Right now I'm on the stock TMO APN (IPV6). What I'm thinking my next step should be is to copy that APN and change it to a IPV4/6 and see if that helps at all. After that I'm running out of guesses. Any help is greatly appreciated and I'll answer with any extra needed info that I might have left out.
Cheers!

I have the same exact problem.
Were you able to root-cause this?
I have not yet. Been all over the place trying to track it down. From rom to ROM to factory resets to bringing back to stock. Still nothing

Make a copy of the APN settings leaving everything the same except IPV6. Change it to IPV4.

Didn't help. Tried this as well as the IPV4/6 and still no change. Unfortunately I'm probably going to be giving up on this one and moving to the G4 with T-Mo's Jump program.
I updated to Candy ROM 5.1.1 and have been using Google messenger for a week now with no issues.
I recommend the same if you're willing to live without WiFi calling.

Unfortunately I can't, my place is a dead zone for cell signal so I rely on the WiFi calling

Bummer.
I do know that TMobile has acknowledged network issues as well on their end with both LG and Samsung phones and they've been actively working to rectify it.
Very frustrating, I know.
Best of luck.
I need AT&T users to test this for me. On my wife's 5X on AT&T it seems like every call goes to voicemail first but if you call back it will ring. Could someone test and see if they are getting this? If not do you know how to fix? Thanks
I'm receiving calls just fine on mine. I'm on att trough net10 though so I'm not sure if that's different.
I'm on AT&T and no trouble receiving calls for me.
So odd, spent some time with att on the phone. My suspicion is that when a call is coming in since we do not have volte it drops to h+ which has a weak signal and goes to vm... When will att allow volte for not att phones?! Thanks all
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
if you haven't yet, I would reset/flash as new without sim and then reinsert sim and go through setup as stock. No google voice or hangouts or forwarding and see what happens.
my 5x hadoffs between lte and h+ happen a bit depending where I am at my house, and I don't have any problems. MY last thought is check airplane and do not dusturb, but still. I would start at the beginning.
maybe you've already done this.

I also have AT&T, and no problems receiving phone calls. I had to get a new SIM card when I got the phone (nano SIM to replace the micro SIM that I had used in my old Nexus 5). I noticed that the APN that was the default on this phone is "ATT Nextgenphone", instead of the "ATT Phone" APN that my old Nexus 5 used. The old "ATT Phone" still shows up as an option, but I figured that I'd just leave it as is (on the "ATT Nextgenphone" APN. I don't know much about it, but from googling around, I believe that this APN is for VoLTE. (http://developer.att.com/technical-library/apns/apn-descriptions-and-characteristics). Might want to check APN settings and see if you can change it to Nextgenphone.

Thanks but hers is also on that apn. I'm going to send it back to google and try a different unit. According to everything I have read VOLTE is only available on AT&T if you have their specific phones. I hope that changes soon but if I'm wrong and you are getting VOLTE please tell me. Of course the easiest way to test is to turn off wifi and while you are on LTE have someone call you and see if it drops to H or H+ or if it stays on LTE. Thanks!
I am am also having this same issue. People trying to call me are getting call failed messages and they have to dial 5 or 6 times before the call actually connects. I did you get a solution?
So I jumped on the AT&T/DirecTV Unlimited data deal and ported my phone today. It all looked normal and I got the activation texts and such - it even populated the nxtgenphone APN info (though it was deselected and I had to select it). Anyway, I've had no data at all. As a test, I switched the APN to phone and data works, but the speeds appear to be much lower than what my wife's iPhone is seeing on the nxtgenphone APN. Anyone got any tips?
I'm running Viper 2.5, latest US unlocked firmware and US unlocked selected as carrier, and it works fine on AT&T other than this......only other thing I can mention is when I select preferred band or whatever it shows WCDMA/GSM and if I change it to WCDMA/GSM/LTE it reverts back for some reason. Any help much appreciated. I've called AT&T and they're like, uh, we don't sell the HTC 10 so can't really help you... grrrrrr.....

I'd suggest ruu to stock us unlocked rom and see if the issue persists.
Or, try clean flash of viper.
I have no issues using US unlocked on AT&T with both stock rom and ice.
Thanks for trying to help. I just finished trying stock RUU and same problem. I'm convinced, as I was before, that this is AT&T's issue. I've read numerous posts this afternoon that because the HTC 10 (and other phones) aren't in their "LTE approved" database, nxtgenphone APN won't work, or it will only give HSPA speeds. Seems like everyone who has resolved it, or didn't run into the issue at all had another AT&T LTE phone they could use for the IMEI on the account, or the rep entered the model as an iPhone or similar to make it work. Really, really frustrating, as they refuse to help me and I'm starting to think I should just terminate in the 14 day window and do T-mobile or Verizon.
I have at&t and everything worked out of the box, I've never been on stock rom, always on Viper I did the unlock and s-off without a sim and never had an issue or called at&t to activate the device I just transferred my sim from my note 4 to the HTC 10, no provisioning issues at all, VOLTE works, LTE is fine as well while on a phone call... No issues... If you need anything to compare let me know

Thanks for replying. They did confirm it was a provisioning issue and they fixed it today. They had to do something different, as the default HTC 10 provisioning and IMEI check didn't fix it even when they tried it a second time, but they were able to adjust something and LTE definitely works now. VoLTE working here, too. Thanks!
My new google pixel 2 XL is stuck on AT&T HSPA+ network and will not go to AT&T LTE. I just got off a chat session with AT&T and they said it is a known problem they are working on. i'm not sure this is accurate because i'm on AT&T and my Pixel 2 XL has LTE. make sure that AT&T has your phone's IMEI Number in their system associated with your SIM Card Number. if not, call support and give them the info and have them change it.
No issues here. Try a factory reset, or get a new sim

I had/have a similar issue (might be the same as yours) My phone would be on LTE but if i got a call (making the phone switch to HSPA) after the call it would not switch back to LTE. I would have to go to the hidden menu to toggle the LTE radio making the phone switch back.
I also got the NOV update ill see if mine is fixed too
Just recreated the issue you described. I was on LTE, made a call to check voicemail, and now I'm back stuck on H. Where is this hidden option you mentioned?
Thank you,
Cobb

With the new SIM, LTE should not shut off during calls. I had similar issue and a AT&T fixed it with new sim, and updating their database with the phones IMEI.
Can confirm VoLTE now works on 8.1. However I did have to contact ATT and have them update my IMEI to my account.
I'm having this issue where after a call it gets stuck on H and I have to manually switch from LTE to H back to LTE to get it to change. My IMEI is correct in their data base cuz I had to do that to fix hotspot. What is needed to get voLTE? I haven't had a new SIM card for probably a year if that matters?

What is your APN? I get LTE signal, but I do not get LTE speeds at all. Barely pull 4mb down/up..
I did swing by an ATT store and got a new SIM and updated my IMEI in their system over the weekend, no change since..

Hi all, I switched providers today from Verizon to AT&T and my S9 is working fine with voice, data and TXT however voice mails is messed up, I had to get AT&T Visual Voice Mail from APK mirror because my voice mail wasn't working and still not dialing from the dial pad when I press and hold 1 as in the AT&T native phones.
Anyways I would like to use WiFi calls and other native AT&T features, so is it possible to flash AT&T firmware on my Verizon S9 via Odin or so???
Can anyone please direct me to the process/firmware? I am also concerned about the firmware updates that I might not get from AT&T if my S9 remains on VZW firmware.
Thank you in advance!!
Flash this OTA https://firmware.science/download?url=52758/1488/SS-G960USQU3ARG7-to-U3BRH6-UP and you'll have the BYOD update. Another thing, wifi calling on AT&T will not work at all because your IMEI is not part of the whitelist in their system to use it. I think the same goes for VoLTE but I'm not sure.

Thank you for the feedback FatalONEM8.
After I manually flash, do you know if the next OTAs will come automatically or I will have to manually flash them forever?
Not having access to WiFi calling is a bummer but well, if everything else works I will have to leave with
By the way my current firmware is G960USQS3ARG8, I checked and the upgrades available are G960USQU3BRH6 and G960USQS3ARH7. The later seems to be an add on by the size of it, should I apply both?
Thanks again!!
