Hello everyone
I got yesterday my brand new Samsung Galaxy S9 and wanted to root it.
I followed the guide from here, called [ROOT] Galaxy S9 and S9+ Official Stock 8.0 MAGISK - UNOFFICIAL (don't know if I'm allowed to post links o.o)
First attempt went well until I had to enter TWRP, I got to read some red text, some stuff wasn't getting mounted and I was sent to samsung logo after a second or so. But the second attempt went okay and phone was rooted ^^
The problem is - phone kinda "lost" it's quick charging. Before rooting, the charger got warm when phone was plugged. Guess that's the normal way, had the same with every phone so far.... Now it barely got warm at all, charging time was very long. I checked with the app Ampere how much flows into the phone, I had between 300 and 800, sometimes 1000 mAh. With 3,8 - 4 V
I checked the quick charge thing in the settings and it was enabled.
No gaming mode or stuff, no apps
I went into safe mode, wiped with TWRP, made factory reset, flashed a stock ROM via Odin.
I tried other chargers and cables.
Phone still charges with max 800 - 1000 mAh at 3,8 - 4 V.
Can someone help me with this? Did I somehow brick my quick charge?!
Thanks in advance
Oh and I got the Exynos version.

Hey guys I'm having a little bit of a crisis here. I installed Cyanogen on my HTC Evo a few days ago and have been loving it due to increased performance and battery life. Today, I tried to charge my phone and I get zilch. I've tried different cable and different chargers, even tested them with a multimeter to find they are working properly. So far I've read cyanogen can cause this with the Evos, my problem is custom rom voided the warranty on my not-even-month-old/never-dropped-phone and is currently at a 1% charge with no way to charge the phone to restore my stock ROM. Does anyone know if there are any solutions to this problem or know of a way to revert stock ROM so I don't get raped by Sprint for wanting a a more efficient ROM.
P.S. Phone does boot up

Try charging it with the phone turned off
tried it still nothing : (
I don't think I've ever heard of one not charging while it's off, could be an issue with the port on the phone. You could try charging from recovery and seeing if that works.
My last ditch effort, if you have the necessary SD adapter and reader, would be:
Grab a stock ROM in PC36IMG format from this thread
Put it on the SD card (make sure it's named PC36IMG.zip and you put it on the root of the card)
Get another battery or a standalone battery charger, just something to get you powered up just long enough to flash - if it helps, the Touch Pro 2 uses the same battery
Start up the bootloader (turn on the phone with Vol Down+Power) and let it apply the PC36IMG
Take it back to Sprint and get it fixed!

The charging issue was a kernal problem that was long ago fixed. I doubt the cyanogenmod rom has anything to do with your issue. When the was a problem the phone would charge when turned off, since yours doesn't I would venture to guess your problem lies else where.
Yeah, I'm defaulting to a hardware issue to now that the phone will not charge, or boot up even though we charged the battery externally. Also the phone vibrates indefinitely if I try to boot pressing down on the volume and power
Just an idea, if you have access... charge the battery thru something else (another Evo or phone that uses that battery, or a dock)... then do what you gotta do to get back to stock...
Hi All,
I work in EE store in the UK, we received 4 Demo units from Samsung labelled N7100x with no GSM module. We do also only have two phone stands so have the other two spare in the cupboard.
Anyway, I flashed the latest leak 4.1.2 firmware on the device its a full wipe via ODIN. The issue i have is when the display is off, after some time e.g 5mins I cannot wake the phone from standby and have to pull the battery or hold power/home. This happens all the time it is not related to the firmware as I also tried stock 4.1.1 official and same thing.
Would appreciate any advice or if you have experienced this issue and know a fix otherwise it will just sit in the cupboard at work :silly:
Cheers

It's bacause the cpu frequency in idle , try to root the phone and change the minimum frequency , mine is to 400 and never crashed in idle again , and the battery life is almost the same.
Just install a custom rom and it will be fine.
Are there any advantages of factory resetting the GN 10.1 after receiving the KitKat update? Would it make the installation any 'cleaner' if you know what I mean!
I also wonder.
I wonder the same thing. I updated my stock tablet to Kitkat without doing a factory reset before or after the update. It seems to be widely recommend, but I wonder if there are any noticeable problems that can happen without resetting. Not that it hurts to do it, I just don't wanna lose any data. Since I'm not rooted, nor do have plans to root, I can create a backup through Kies and then factory reset, yes? Hopefully someone can shed some light on mine and the OP's questions.
As a general rule one could say : you don't have to reset but if you run into problems you know what's the reason for them.
Here's what I've been doing for the past 4 years with android. Change in version (4.2-> 4.3): I wipe. New firmware within same version (4.3-> 4.3) I don't wipe. Works for me But I'm always rooted and have full backups.
I just updated through kies and did not factory reset, so far no problems and definitely notice the speed improvements.

I may have to do the factory reset and update to KK 4.4.2 again. I am running into battery charging problem. Normally it took only about 6 hours to get 100%. Now it took 8 hours to get only 60%. Any one have any idea?

I have a noticeable issue with Kitkat with both charging and battery drain. I tried factory reset and that didn't help much. Also got an app from playstore called Battery Calibration. Ran it last night. So far it seems to have helped a little.
I have been able to pinpoint that the drain happens quickly whenever I am using the wifi. I've checked all the settings over and over.
This is of no help to you.... but you are not alone with the issue.
Barbara
PS -- I recall with my old smartphones it was suggested (when flashing a new rom) that rom needed to settle for a or so before battery was stable. Not sure if that is true or not, but it's my last resort.

I noticed the same thing. However, I turned the Note completely off last night and let it charge 8 hours and it only went from 21% to 65%. So, if it's completely turned off the operating system should have no involvement with the charging process. KitKat should have nothing to do with it.
So, this morning I tried a different charger and, while it was still powered on, it went from 62% to 76% in about an hour. So, I'm no longer concerned.

What? 8 hours of charging you only got 44%. That is really bad.
Before KK 4.4.2 update, my Note 10.1 2014 took 6.5 hrs to charge from 0% to 100%. It has a lot to do witk KK I m sure.
I just did the factory reset. Drain the battery to 5%. Turn it off and charge again. Will let you guy know soon.

I think it is the best option. I did my OTA update as soon as I received the notification. The tablet run a lot faster. Much better than version 4.3. But this morning I found out I have a problem with charging. It took to long to charge. So I decided to do the factory reset. Hopefully it will fix the problem.

Thank you Barbara, it seems to be fine after I did factory reset. Used the tablet for about 5 hours (the battery went down from 80% to 5% in 5 hrs). Then I shut down to charge. It actually charged to 100% in about 5 hrs 15 minutes.

Make sure that if and when you charge to make sure you use at last a 2A charger and proper voltage. Also some homes might have light switches that turn off power for instance. Silly little things and please ppl these are smart batteries you do not need to drain them down, only thing worth mentioning is to charge for at least 15 minutes or more. If any other behavior call Samsung and have them fix your hardware.

Hi all: I have been posting in the CM11 ROM for this device but I figured I would post my issues here and see if anyone has any insight or experiences.
I was on CM11 for 4 days with stability, speed and life was great. Last night I randomly got a reboot when looking at twitter. Fine, no big deal. 2 minutes later it happened again. Odd. I went into the play store and then it froze. I had to research and found out how to reboot it. Once rebooted, it would restart again. So, I went into TWRP, wiped Everything and then refreshed the ROM. Within 1 minute it froze again.
I flashed Stock and sure enough it froze on me. Noe I am annoyed and went to bed and figured I would deal with it this am. I plugged it in last night under 10% battery. Woke up 8 hours later and its at 14%. 2 hours since and its now at 17%. Clearly something is wrong.
Full disclosure---i bought a best buy geek squad refurbished unit and have done so many times with tablets with no problems. I am still within my 45 day return window and will probably just exchange for a new one since the refurbished price is the same as it was. Sadly, I wish they would give me a new one for the black friday price.
Has anyone had such experiences or have a clue what went wrong? Thanks
How did you flash the ROM? Tell each steps on how you flashed it. Did you mess with the CPU clock speed or anything? Did you also have any battery problems readings before flashing? I did a dirty flash of cm11 in which led to problems later, so I'm now on stock rooted and still works fine with no freezes. Probably tarp crashed? Happened to me.
I rooted via odin. I them used twrp manager to get the recovery and did a total clean flash. Wiped everything including system. NO I did not have any battery issues nor did I mess with cpu clock speed ( don't even know how ). All I did was use xposed to try the mutliwindow solution and downloaded lux and a material theme. Nothing out of the ordinary I don't think.

Either the battery is bad or could be something with the software. The only time when mine reboots is when I use to Much ram and it freezes. Other than that no problems.
I plugged it into another outlet. The outlet I always use charges me iPad and note 4 without a problem. I left for an hour and sure enough I got home and the tablet was at 100%. Yay. I started downloading my apps and noticed while still plugged in, the battery was at 95%. Odd. I took out the charger and Bam, rebooted. Off to best buy.
Wow it restarted and now shows 7 percent. I'll let you know what bb says.

Similar experience
I had a similar experience with my 2012 Nexus 7,it turned out that the connections between the charging port, battery and device were all faulty. They weren't soldered together properly when the device was manufactured (not as rare a condition as we are lead to believe either, regardless of manufacturer). I was lucky the I was able to take the device apart to check the problem without leaving any evidence that I had opened it, and I was able to exchange it. So from my experience, that kind of error always appears to relate to some form of battery issue. Also had it happen to me with a Galaxy S4, however it wasn't anything to do with the device itself, it was damaged connections on the battery.
Help please.. i updated my note 8 in the latest version 11.0.4 global version and
I recently experiencing slow charging.. from 6-8 hrs of charging until its full
But the worst is when i turn off my unit (totally) it wont charge
No battery bar or anything.. please help
Thanks for the feedback
Help me please.. is it software fault or hardware pls give me feedback thanks
Well i'm on 11.0.4 Global too from the day that it came out and i don't face anything similar, the charging speed has always been really fast as the first day of usage.
Plus, you're asking for a feedback but it isn't that simple to provide one since that you've provided no further details about the situation: by what i read at the moment, you've encountered this issue only after that you've updated the device to the latest build, but on the same build this doesn't happens by my side. Do you face other issues other than battery charging speed, or not?
Now, assuming that your charger is in an optimal condition and that the phone never felt to the floor that hard to compromise battery status, are you sure you didn't made ANYTHING else that could cause this? Facing a slow charging time on stock ROM and stock charger it's really weird and if you didn't touched anything else, i just can't find an answer to justify this behavior in stock ROM.
Hi Lads,
i recieved the same bug after updating to 11.0.4.0(PCOMIXM). The device is only online since december, so quite young
What did i done so far:
- Loaded a the Ampere App to check if the smartphone regonize the chargeingcable correctly. It does
- With the app i was able to see that the current while loading is between 100mA to max 450mA.
- I switched the charger to an Qualcom Quickdash Charger here the current jumps sometime up to 4400mA but only for seconds before falling down to 10mA
- I did a factory reset twice. First with replaying the googlebackup, second without googlebackup. With no difference. Still stucking on 100mA
Is there a possibilty to get back to a earlier Version of MiUi?
Next thing i'll try is to load the smartphone over the weekend to get more then 40% battery so that i can try to switch to a custom rom.
