I don't get it.
If I use the Android XDA app, the Marketplace is visible in General. Using a real browser however, it's not. A quick search for a link into the Marketplace rears a permissions error. And all of this without being registered. So what gives? Something I'm missing here?

Oh, so it's now visible. After glancing through the rules/disclaimer it appears it'll become accessible after 8 posts for a noobjuice member. Clever.

You need more posts and/or a longer membership (I can't recall the details).
Guess the Tapatalk app needs fixing .

It's not the app...we've changed the permission on the Marketplace to not allow access to a user until he/she has made 8 posts. That 8 post level is also the same point at which you can post links. It's just an anti-spam measure. We found people were registering at XDA just to spam the site or the Marketplace. This helps.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
This is good to know. Long time lurker and finally signed up so I could post in the marketplace but alas!
Can someone link to the rules for gaining access to the Marketplace? I have 8 posts but still cannot see it. Tried logging out and back in but still nothing
For a while there I thought I needed to check my eye sight. Makes sense now.
Hard to achieve 8 post if you have nothing to say or to discuss or if everything is so well explained that you do not need answers
Maybe you could add a waiting time also. Lets say after 4 weeks you get to see the market, I highly doubt anyone would wait 4 weeks just to spam something.
It doesn't make sense that you can view the Marketplace before you sign up (and then have it dissapear after you are a member).
oh!! so thats why i couldnt c the marketplace
I am new here. it seem that this is an useful forum.
welcome to forums
Once you become an active/regula user all XDA features will be unlocked and you will be able to post in marketplace, this rule is to protect us from spammers/scammers
Ah I was wondering why I wasn't able to see that deal I saw anymore... guess I'm off to ask more questions.
I have been on the site reading for 6 months now trying not to poste but now i need to use the market so here is my 8th poste thanks.

Lol. Non-members can't see the marketplace anymore.
Trust me to say too much
As I said before:
Once you become regular/active members will see the benefit of having this
Meantime post and you´ll finally get access
Nice
Really smart security measure! I like it.

Is there any descriptions about the functions in the service menu?
Unfortunately I don't have the link, but on one of the firmware update threads here on XDA there was a link to a site hosting several firmware versions, as well as a massive 75mb pdf file containing the internal service manual for the G3 with full descriptions of every single component and also a full guide to the internal service menu. I'm sure if you google you'll find it.

I'm interested in this service manual as well, but can't seem to find it anywhere.
I've tried Google and XDA search and found several firmware threads, but nothing on that PDF nor on any of the hosting sites.
I'm not sure if it's been removed or other, but if you have it on hand or know where, I would greatly appreciate it if you could link it or other. :fingers-crossed:
The only searches I could find were to a lgbbs.net site that has all the service menu files for each variant, but they want $100 each to download them....

Thank you a bagillion times! :victory:
Is the service manual the same for all variants? Or are there some changes for each carrier's variants? I assume so, most likely due to carrier networks and all, but I'm wondering more so with hardware side and other settings.

Glad I could help Unfortunately I don't have any further info on the file itself, but it seems pretty comprehensive. I'd venture to guess that the carrier variants merely have cosmetic differences, apart from the obvious 16/32GB distinction. In any event, the manual is comprehensive enough to give you an idea of what the bloody hell is going on inside this fantastic little device
Thank yous for the guide I really needed this!

Hello I just got the Mate SE and I am trying to figure out how to get my bootloader unlock code but https://www.emui.com/en/plugin/unlock/index doesn't seem to be up??
Also when I try making my Huawei account United States isn't listed as a country and thus do not get my verification text message when registering.
I see the same thing. Judging by this picture (source), it seems like they've actually removed the unlock option from their website. Have they changed their policy on unlocking?

Found this screenshot of what is supposed to be chat with an honor rep. In a telegram device group.
I hope it is a fake. If it is real then , I see absolutely no reason to even buy from hauwei or honor again
I messaged them on facebook and they said to do this, but I log in at this page and it just kicks me back to the main menu.
Hi monorail0, thanks for getting in touch.
Please try reaching out to the following site, click "Unlock Bootloader" and log in with your Huawei ID,https://hwid5.vmall.com/CAS/portal/...ndex&loginChannel=22000000&reqClientType=2023. Hope it helps. Thanks!

I just sent them an email myself. Did you call them yet?
I decided it's not worth pursuing since this phone isn't worth keeping. The screen is nice but everything else is incomprehensibly bad. If they charged $50-75 more and made the speaker, haptics, and camera less godawful it would be the perfect device. For me the dream of a good <$300 phone is dead, time to get a pixel 2 and move on with my life.
Edit: I followed Sandman-007's unlock guide. After installing AOSP, the phone exceeds expectations. The camera has even miraculously fixed itself. Woo!
I received an email saying another ota was being sent out with some new features, bug fixes, and something about it being easier to unlock

Here it's the email.
Hello Everyone,
We are sending out another OTA with several bug fixes and some very nice features. We can't say what the features are. But, it will be much faster to unlock...

I just got this email from Support. I'm trying to figure out if I want to send it back. I want custom ROMs. But at the same time I really like this phone.
I wonder if I used a VPN and spoof IP for China if I could access the bootloader unlock page?
So I tried it. Spoofed my IP to China. I Google searched https://www.emui.com/cn/plugin/unlock/index
It comes up in Google search and it's clear its for China. When I try to load the page I don't get a 404 like the U.S page but it's just a white blank page. Gonna keep trying
Here is the email I received a few days ago.

i called the Huawei support Hotline and the man i spoke with said he wouldn't be able to give me the unlock code for security purposes. other people have had better luck check out this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/how-to/emui-unlock-site-page-t3779658/page2
Hello Guys!
I figured out how to unlock my Mate SE without the need of contacting support or their Unlock page that no longer exists!
See my guide here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7x/how-to/how-to-unlock-huawei-bootloader-removal-t3780903
So I've been asking this question on almost all the new phones' forums recently because it's never mentioned in any of the spec websites or the manufacturers website. None of the YouTube tech channels check it either except for one which he also forgets to do for some of the phones.
The question is.... Is this phone Widevine L1 certified?
Anybody who already bought the phone can check through downloading an app via playstore. App name is 'drm info'.
Screenshot would be appreciated for anybody who are looking for this particular feature in the next phone they're gonna buy. Thanks in advance guys.

Thank you for the information.
This post is for people wanting to know whether this phone has widevine L1. I have posted this same question in many forums just to get a specific phone's DRM information so people who search around for a particular phone and want to know about the DRM, it's easier for them find.
This is because no other sites provide this information (none that I know).

It is a type of security software owned by Google.
If a device has Widevine L1 (the most secure), then it can play HD content on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video etc. Without it, those apps can still function normally but there is no way to play HD content on that device, even if you're rooted or try any sort of hacking software.
You can learn more by searching Google. I'm not well versed in this.
Yes there is widevine cdm present
Is the device widevine L1 supported? Screenshot anyone.
Some sites say that it doesn't support L1
