widevine L1 - Huawei Nova 3 Questions & Answers

So I've been asking this question on almost all the new phones' forums recently because it's never mentioned in any of the spec websites or the manufacturers website. None of the YouTube tech channels check it either except for one which he also forgets to do for some of the phones.
The question is.... Is this phone Widevine L1 certified?
Anybody who already bought the phone can check through downloading an app via playstore. App name is 'drm info'.
Screenshot would be appreciated for anybody who are looking for this particular feature in the next phone they're gonna buy. Thanks in advance guys.

[Q] Tricky one .. how can I play videos overseas?

Hi.
I am based overseas and I know there are restrictions placed on video streaming outside of US. If there are some ways to bypass this restriction, please share .... thanks
Not sure, but I'd say VPN, but it's more trouble and costly than it's worth. And I always feel like the VPN servers are snooping at what I'm doing. :-D
I live in Japan and Unblock-us works great for me, we watch netflix, amazon videos, etc, very easy to set up and it works perfectly on Kindle fire.

Register on unblock-us for a one week trial, change your DNS with the ones provided and then, if you thinks it's worth it, pay for an annual subscribtion ( as I did ). And honestly is worth every single cent, since I can also stream HD videos on my PS3 ( using the Netflix app ) with no glitches or interruptions.

Hi! Like Stocaprimo said, you can try the service for free first, just go to their website, unblock-us. I tried for maybe 15 minutes just to see if it really worked and was very happy with it, I could watch Netflix on apple tv for the first time and on kindle fire too and it's only five dollars a month, I changed the DNS on my router (netgear)with the one they provided and now all the computers and tablets plus iPads work great, it's like we were back in the US. Hope it works for you.
Alternative Options for video streaming of U.S. channels outside U.S.

I was facing similar problem as I am a big fan of US netflix but when I moved to sweden, was missing it. Then I tried various options to get access and thank God an expert suggested me unotelly. It is a DNS service, now I can get access to netflix, hulu and rest of the popular US channels without any glitch. try their free 7 days version and you will love it for sure. If you need any help, just let me know I will assist you to install it.

Firestick 2 Won't run without google play services which are not supported by device

I sideloaded a television providers app (Fios Mobile) installed on my device. The app was working perfectly but it just updated and I keep getting the error "Won't run without google play services which are not supported by your device".
I tried reverting back to the previous version but it was a mandatory update, so no dice. I tried sideloading the Google Play store but that did not help.
Is there a workaround for this type of error? The app does not API call any of Google Play Services. It seems like many of the TV apps are dropping support (they encouraged it a few years ago to lower bills) so you buy another Set top box. Other cable apps know you are inserting a device into a HDMI port and disable it from working that way.
I can download each individual TV app and enter my television providers password or mirror from my Android Phone but that would be a huge inconvenience.
Any suggestions? If there an app that will fool my TV app into thinking the play store is installed?
Since every channel pretty much has it's own app now, is there another app that will take its place instead of downloading each channels separate app and entering the password?
Is your firestick rooted? (Sorry, I don't know if they can even be rooted.) If so, there's an Xposed module to allow apps to work without Google Play Services.
Another idea is to get the Fios Mobile app from the Amazon App Store and side load that one onto your Fire TV: https://www.amazon.com/Verizon-Services-Corp-FiOS-Mobile/dp/B00DGVUD9I/
That one may not have any dependencies on Google apps.

Seriously, you are giving me outdated information???? "Fios Mobile won't run unless you update Google Play Services". It would be nice to know where to find updated compatible versions for each. I have looked at several app stores and none seem to work. So please cut that attitude as your five-second search advice did not get me any further than I was before.

Last I checked the Firestick 2 can't be routed. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I tried two different app stores but not that Amazon one. Crossing fingers!!!! DARN. Just tried it and said incompatible, you can't make purchases from this device. Fios does support Kindle fire but as I suspect, they don't want the app as a box substitute like they used too.
Maybe, someone has an updated version of what Timmy P linked too. Hopefully, they will test the link first before making condescending remarks about checking older posts.

Because when I read that site from the original author it said FTV and FTV stick not 2 dumbass. Then I read the re-post on here claiming FTV 2 from MARCH 2017!! DId you not see where I said everything was working perfectly since September 4th!!!! Technology changes fast little tike. Google also updates and apps do along with it buttercup.
But I assumed someone with such a smug post must be correct but what a surprise you were not cupcake.
Since there is only 1 person who found a fix on the entire internet, it must not be a very easy fix. If it were, he could put it on APK sites for constant updates.
That is why I also asked 1: If there is a workaround. Easy/permanent if possible, so I don't need to worry about this update. Even easier if there is a 3rd party app that would consolidate all the apps and enter my default password for me.
P.S Being smug even when your correct is being an ass, doing so when you are incorrect makes you a stinky diarrhea with **** nuggets still stuck kind of ass.

Thank you for the information.
This post is for people wanting to know whether this phone has widevine L1. I have posted this same question in many forums just to get a specific phone's DRM information so people who search around for a particular phone and want to know about the DRM, it's easier for them find.
This is because no other sites provide this information (none that I know).

It is a type of security software owned by Google.
If a device has Widevine L1 (the most secure), then it can play HD content on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video etc. Without it, those apps can still function normally but there is no way to play HD content on that device, even if you're rooted or try any sort of hacking software.
You can learn more by searching Google. I'm not well versed in this.
Yes there is widevine cdm present
Is the device widevine L1 supported? Screenshot anyone.
Some sites say that it doesn't support L1

i need vpn urgent !!

hey all
please i need a working free vpn to make a phone call via social application
any help ?!!
Use the free one built into the wifi app?
wireguard
Amazing that someone hasn't heard of Google Play where there is an untold number of free VPN's. I'll even bet that a quick Google will find a few. Either is going to be faster than posting on a forum and having to wait for aomeone to answer your plea. But then, some people just have to be led.
Makes me wonder how people who post this sort of moronic question have managed to sign up for the forum in the first place, or indeed found it at all. Or are we being trolled?

Thank you, and it's still pathetic that someone doesn't know how to search. And BTW, learn how to post questions that fully explain your problem. A quick search found this
https://www.guidingtech.com/58822/free-vpn-android-apps-bypass-country/
https://www.hongkiat.com/blog/free-android-vpn-apps/
I have to say that we don't know the position of @amjadRR
So his question is legit.
If you have never been to a country like China for example you won't understand @Tel864
But in short: Google is blocked in China and that means also Google services don't work there. Therefore you can't just google or download something in the Playstore, since the playstore is also blocked. So it's not that easy to get a VPN if you're in China.
I've been there for a year. Luckily I knew that before I went there, so I downloaded some VPN's before.
You can't just assume that everyone is living in a developed country or assume anything at all...
Anyway, if you need a download link for a VPN app let me know @amjadRR.
Thank you for your reply

I downloaded all these vpn and not working and so.e of them work and after few days it stop work :crying:
@amjadRR the reason for these VPNs not working is very simple. They are in the store, so of course the government is gonna block them.
But as I said earlier in this forum, get wireguard.
This one might work and it is for free.
You just need to download the VPN profiles and open them with the wireguard app.

Nothing assumed and I have been there. What I assume is someone knowing how to post a question on forums so they can get the information they need. These forums are packed full of lazy people that would rather ask for something rather than search. BTW, there is a way to search in China and find those things. A free VPN is most likely not going to work. VYPRVPNI will make itself invisible and is what I used.
