Hi guys,
I was recently trying to install a vanced version of youtube and I installed twrp 3.2.1-1-taimen.img on my device and i cannot get back into the OS of my device it just keeps on rebooting into TWRP every time, I can still enter fastboot by holding power and volume down but other than that I am stuck.
Do i have to reflash official pixel 2 xl oreo stock image (bootloader is unlocked and i was on stock rom anyway), if so how would i do this on a mac with only fastboot as an option.
Thanks.
Flash magisk.zip that should solve your problem. The next time twrp is enough to boot instead of flashing.

Hi fellow G4 owners I have ran into quite a bothersome and weird issue after flashing a recent nightly of CM 13.1 on my g4 , I realized I couldn't boot into my twrp anymore , it seems to boot in what I think is the phone's factory recovery only displaying a few lines of text that are all related to the my bootloader's unlocked status .... Ive tried reflashing the recovery many time through flashify and adb , it doesn't change anything ....
Hoping anyone has already had that problem and could help. Cheers

Try
fastboot boot twrp.img
If you see twrp push the twrp image to your device and choose image at the bottom and flash twrp to recovery
Btw Download and use the latest twrp

Will try this and report !
Sadly it boots to the screen I was talking about in my previous post which actually happens to be fastboot not factory recovery my bad.
I did some flashing , apparently when trying to flash the latest recovery the flashing goes well but then I get an error saying there is a dtb error, I am unable to even boot it through fastboot.
I managed to flash twrp's 2.8.7.0 version but again if rebooting to recovery through adb command it takes me to the same fastboot screen however I am able to boot to this version of the recovery via fastboot commands and that's the only way I can actually reach a recovery .....
Hoping that helps in any way for other peeps in the same situation , I'm gonna try to flash a more recent rom will report once done !

Oh How do you try to get into recovery??? Which key combo?

The volume key power button combo strangely never worked on my G4 I use either the advanced reboot on the phone or through ADB.
I just flashed the lasted cm 14.1 nightly after flashing an older twrp and booting into it , with that version I can boot into twrp with no problem but after flashing the latest twrp the problem reappeared .... This is so weird :/

The only valid and always working and supported way on getting with a key combo into twrp is using the factory reset screen.
Any other key combo like vol up + power depends on the kernel of the ROM! So it may work or not. Factory reset will work always.
for this you have to ensure that you have the latest twrp version really installed(!) because if twrp sits in recovery it will ignore the factory reset command when going through it.
Edit:
Check the faq in the official twrp thread for a howto.

I was running an unlocked one plus 3 on OxygenOS 4.0.2 (Android Nougat) and have TWRP installed. As 4.0.3 got released yesterday, i tried installing it today but i accidentally hit install on the OTA update setting which caused my phone to reboot. Now my phone won't boot into the os, i get a black screen after 'powered by Android'. I tried getting into Recovery however i get the same response, a black screen. I do not think it is hardbricked as the Fastboot still works and when i go into fashtboot it states that the OEM is 'unlocked'. I have personal data on this device pls can someone help. I do not know what i should do> How do i boot into recovery without crashing?
Is it possible to install twrp again with the PC? I had once also the same problem, install it again and after that it booted again into recovery.
Just install TWRP from fastboot, then you'll have access to internal storage by TWRP
It's happening because it's trying to send you to recovery which is twrp 3. 0.4-1which is bugged so just go to fastboot and flash twrp 2.0.4-1 and then try booting in.. You can even update the phone by flashing the update zip by oneplus from recovery

It's sounds like twrp didn't flash. The no command is what you see in the stock recovery. When you see the no command press power then press and release volume up, timing of the press and release can be tricky so you might have to try it a number of times. Does the device boot to the system? You could also try to just boot twrp, not flash it. fastboot boot twrp.img.

flash twrp, then boot into recovery, then flash magisk. otherwise twrp will be replaced by stock recovery.
there is a tutorial available Unlock/Root/Flash for Nexus 5X
follow that
Thanks that solved my problem
Wanted to root my Pixel 3 XL and successfully unlocked the bootloader following a post on XDA. I followed another guide to flash TWRP Recovery to the device and install Magisk, however my phone, shortly after a reboot via TWRP, booted straight into Fastboot Mode and refuses to start when selecting that option. It also doesn't contain a trace of TWRP when going into recovery, it just goes straight back into Fastboot Mode... It's almost as if the phone no longer contains an OS, when pressing 'Start' now, it shows the Google logo for a second then enters fastboot mode again.
Any help would be extremely appreciated, cheers.

you can download factory image here https://developers.google.com/android/images and flash it via the manual, that should revert your device to stock os
U forgot to flash TWRP into recovery partition, i assume u followed a step which says to flash twrp on boot img using ADB, if it is the case u should flash TWRP to recovery partition using TWRP once it booted the 1st time.
Re-try the steps, if it works flash a rom.
If not flash back the img for stock rom,
Becarful!!!! If u want to relock the bootloader u should being on stock rom.
I hope u will get ur phone back

If you can boot to fastboot mode, try this guide: [Guide] Pixel 3 XL Android 9.0 (Pie) Unlock/Root/Install Images/Kernels/Recovery + by homeboy76 Do #4, then do #7 or # 8 to root.

You sir, are a godsend. Managed to use this in-depth tutorial you linked and followed steps 4 & 7 and managed to flash TWRP correctly with Magisk and the Kirisakura custom kernel, done several system restarts to ensure integrity and it works like a charm. If you're ever in Derby, UK, I owe you all the ****ing pints! Thanks again.

Glad I could help
Hello guys. I have successfully installed pixel experience ROM to my realme 6 pro using TWRP recovery. Now, I want to root my phone and flash magisk but Everytime I tried to boot to recovery (twrp) it's just stuck on twrp logo and it won't proceed then after like few minutes it just boot to OS. Same happens when using fastboot commands.
Note: Same twrp version with the one I used to flash pixel exp.
Now this leads me to think that ,maybe, the twrp version I was using to flash pixel experience ROM won't work anymore since pixel exp is on Android 12 and that version of twrp only works on the previous versions of androids. Please help. Thanks in advance.
