NEED HELP, CAN'T BOOT INTO RECOVERY/OS - One Plus 3 - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

I was running an unlocked one plus 3 on OxygenOS 4.0.2 (Android Nougat) and have TWRP installed. As 4.0.3 got released yesterday, i tried installing it today but i accidentally hit install on the OTA update setting which caused my phone to reboot. Now my phone won't boot into the os, i get a black screen after 'powered by Android'. I tried getting into Recovery however i get the same response, a black screen. I do not think it is hardbricked as the Fastboot still works and when i go into fashtboot it states that the OEM is 'unlocked'. I have personal data on this device pls can someone help. I do not know what i should do> How do i boot into recovery without crashing?

Is it possible to install twrp again with the PC? I had once also the same problem, install it again and after that it booted again into recovery.

Just install TWRP from fastboot, then you'll have access to internal storage by TWRP

It's happening because it's trying to send you to recovery which is twrp 3. 0.4-1which is bugged so just go to fastboot and flash twrp 2.0.4-1 and then try booting in.. You can even update the phone by flashing the update zip by oneplus from recovery

ZE551ML cannot access recovery after attempted install of TWRP

Hi Guys,
I have been give a Zenfone 2 which cannot reboot into stock recovery or any recovery, basically at the bootloader menu when you select recovery it reboots and goes back to the bootloader menu.
I've installed Rom Manager and it says both TWRP and CWM are installed.
So I believe this has multiple Recoverys and it basically cant use any, I have attempted to flash it back to stock but it wont again even let me into recovery that way.
I was rooted but I fully unrooted it to see if this would make a difference but it made no difference.
The bootloader says unknown and the screen is black on start with the Asus logo so would that suggest it has not got an unlocked bootloader either if so I believe the person who owns the phone tried to flash the untethered version of TWRP without having this unlocked ?
Any ideas how to get this back to stock and a recovery working ?
Thanks
Have you ever tried flashing stock fastboot?
I think the guide of "changing phone's SKU to WW version" can do the trick. Doing this can have official fastboot and recovery flashed on your phone.

[HELP GUIDE] - Can't flash TWRP on Oxygen OS 3.2.1

Today I have faced a strange situation, I installed TWRP (after unlocking the bootloader) on my OP3 as soon as I received the device then I flashed custom ROM by @Grarak http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/development/rom-unofficial-cyanogenmod-13-t3399089.
After using for some days I decided to give Oxygen OS another try, so I wiped the cache, data, system and Flashed full OTA provided by @namanbhalla https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...ficial-oxygen-os-roms-and-ota-updates.450783/
Every thing went smooth but after starting up I wasn't able to goto twrp, for some strange reason twrp was automatically replaced with stock recovery. OK, I decided to reflash twrp, but bang! after so many flashing I wasn't able to boot into twrp, still there was stock recovery.
Solution:
1) fastboot oem unlock (re run even if it says already unlocked)
2) fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-oneplus3.img
now TWRP is installed.
I not Android Developer and cant guarantee above will work and wont harm your device. Try at your own risk.
that is all not needed, i have had this happen to me multiple times reflashing Stock and Stock recovery replaces TWRP, all u have to do is boot up to fastboot mode and flash TWRP, do not reboot, use Power + Vol + and when the Unlocked bootloader screen comes up press the VOL key and click recovery and TWRP is back. no need to do the unlock bootloader again, unless u unchecked it, just make sure it is checked when flashing the Stock rom again or u can just use flashify if u rooted stock before the recovery got replaced somehow, i have even had this happen on FreedomOS 3.2.1

How To Flash Custom Recovery for Androidone

So, I was attempting to root my phone(CanvasA1- 4GB) today running stock android marshmallow(6.0.1) , I successfully unlocked the boot loader in fastboot using adb, after which I flashed TWRP recovery, Which was successful but then, When I rebooted into recovery, I saw my old stock google's recovery running , I tried 2-3 more times flashing the recovery in fastboot but the probem was still the same :crying:. Then I came to know that we have to flash a special type of boot img of some 17.5mb approx, When I attempted to flash this "boot" image, I received an error saying file size too large, Hence I couldn't flash it, I am still running the stock recovery, With my bootloader unlocked, I need to root my phone, Please help someone, Thanks in advance .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...-master-tool-unlock-bootloader-t2997696/page1 use this tool and flash custom recovery simple
You can search for Android One Toolkit. Iwas encountering the same problem but this app solved my Problem.
Sorry dont have Link for the Same.
Same here. I unlocked the bootloader successfully and flashed TWRP recovery. But it shows system/default recovery only. Now stuck in bootloop.
Tried clearing cache/date etc. nothing worked. Don't know what to do.

Unable to boot into recovery

Hello, I flashed CM14 Nougat 7.1.1 and everything worked fine until I tried to boot into recovery to get access to TWRP. If I try and boot into recovery I get the 1+ logo and then just a black screen and i have to hard reboot the phone to use it again. After the hard reboot it just goes back to nougat. I downloaded the TWRP APK to try and restore my previous save but it just does the same thing.
Can anyone help?
Thank you.
I get the same problem. This is WHY we should BACKUP it first. but I didd't, and so are you. I was having lots of works and did not check much news about CM for a long time. but yes, I get the rumors about CM getting shut down. and I check the news. Today I found out CM is shutting down, and my phone is not working.
But, hey, who am I. OnePlus 3 User with lots of experience.
So I tried CM recovery, the newest version works, but there is no backup option, I tried old CM13 recovery. it also black screen. This confirm my theory, this is due to Android 7.1 or CM14.1 upgrade
How to solve this problem?
I found this
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/development/rom-hydrogenos-h2os-beta-edition-oct-t3482259
go to this thread, and download modified TWRP.
BACKUP.
Install your new ROM via any XDA rom. not the CM14.1 build on Dec 25.
Note: If you want Android 7.xx, you could flash the Official Beta ROM(above), or download modem from

Happy New Year.

Click to collapse
boot into fastboot mode and give following commands
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery twrp-xxxx.img
now reboot to recovery...
Please confirm if this works

Pixel C OTA using Flashfire - stuck on "waiting for fastboot command"

I have a Pixel C, rooted using the Nexus Rootkit, TWRP and SuperSU.
All was fine and was on build N2G48C.
I had an OTA notification for Oreo, so I downloaded the OPR6.170623.010 Oreo OTA file, and used FlashFire to apply this.
Now everytime it reboots it goes past the Google logo, then to the "waiting for fastboot command" screen. I've tried rebooting to Recovery and I get the same thing!
Google didn't seem to help, so please can anyone else help?
I was manually flashing rather then using flashfire, but I was getting the same problem. First, flash just the stock room (no root or TWRP) and check that it boots. Mine would, but every time I tried to flash TWRP, it would bootloop to fastboot.
You may want to download the full rom, not just the ota. You can modify the flash batch file to not wipe the tablet, or just flash the components.
What was finally successful for me was to flash TWRP and NOT let it finalize. It should ask if you want to mount R/W so it can keep the rom from overwriting the recovery. I told it no, then flashed the Magisk zip for root. I haven't tested SuperSU, but just replace it here to try. This got me a proper boot to Oreo, with Magisk working correctly.
If I understand it right, and I haven't booted to recovery to check, the rom will likely have overwritten TWRP. Worst case, I have to reflash recovery whenever I want to do a backup or update my rom, but that isn't something I do often on this tablet.
