Hi fellow G4 owners I have ran into quite a bothersome and weird issue after flashing a recent nightly of CM 13.1 on my g4 , I realized I couldn't boot into my twrp anymore , it seems to boot in what I think is the phone's factory recovery only displaying a few lines of text that are all related to the my bootloader's unlocked status .... Ive tried reflashing the recovery many time through flashify and adb , it doesn't change anything ....
Hoping anyone has already had that problem and could help. Cheers

Try
fastboot boot twrp.img
If you see twrp push the twrp image to your device and choose image at the bottom and flash twrp to recovery
Btw Download and use the latest twrp

Will try this and report !
Sadly it boots to the screen I was talking about in my previous post which actually happens to be fastboot not factory recovery my bad.
I did some flashing , apparently when trying to flash the latest recovery the flashing goes well but then I get an error saying there is a dtb error, I am unable to even boot it through fastboot.
I managed to flash twrp's 2.8.7.0 version but again if rebooting to recovery through adb command it takes me to the same fastboot screen however I am able to boot to this version of the recovery via fastboot commands and that's the only way I can actually reach a recovery .....
Hoping that helps in any way for other peeps in the same situation , I'm gonna try to flash a more recent rom will report once done !

Oh How do you try to get into recovery??? Which key combo?
Sent from my LG-H815 using XDA Labs
The volume key power button combo strangely never worked on my G4 I use either the advanced reboot on the phone or through ADB.
I just flashed the lasted cm 14.1 nightly after flashing an older twrp and booting into it , with that version I can boot into twrp with no problem but after flashing the latest twrp the problem reappeared .... This is so weird :/

The only valid and always working and supported way on getting with a key combo into twrp is using the factory reset screen.
Any other key combo like vol up + power depends on the kernel of the ROM! So it may work or not. Factory reset will work always.
for this you have to ensure that you have the latest twrp version really installed(!) because if twrp sits in recovery it will ignore the factory reset command when going through it.
Edit:
Check the faq in the official twrp thread for a howto.

Good morning,
I'm sure it's something I'm missing. I had my tablet unlocked and running fine with TWRP. I went to Omni then to Preview 2. All was well.
Last night I decided to try SuperSU 2.72. I factory reset my Pixel C by installing the latest firmware. I then used fastboot to flash TWRP. It goes into TWRP fine but now it will not boot system any longer. It goes directly into TWRP when I have it boot system. Is this an encryption problem. I've tried both TWRP versions and same behavior.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks!
if you have 3.0.2 i think there was a problem with early build causing this. there was a link posted for the new one that supposedly fixed it. or just use the 3.0.0 build.

It seems some people have problems installing the NYCHitman1 TWRP version.
Most of them complaining because of boot problems.
To fix it:
Pls use xceed TWRP 3.0.0-0 version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/pix...official-twrp-2-8-7-0-pixel-c-dragon-t3288243
Or use my repacked TWRP 3.0.2-0 version : TWRP_dragon_3.0.2.0.img
Pls install TWRP via fastboot and boot directly into TWRP.
Install stock kernel (boot.img) via "fastboot" or use the TWRP flashable version from here: Update.ZIP_Nexus_Ryu_MXC89F-kernel_dragon.zip
Install SuperSU.zip 2.72 directly afterwards in TWRP - no reboot in between.

Thanks guys! I did go back to 3.0.0-0 and it now boots into system. I'll also try your repackaged version of 3.0.2-0. I'm on my work PC but I don't see a link to your version. Is my work PC just hiding it or can I find it somewhere else? Thanks again!

Well in case of "recovery bootloop" start your device in bootloader mode and type "fastboot reboot" in command shell. That works mostly. No need to flash another recovery.

And connect everytime with PC to do a manual reboot via fastboot .. seems a little bit too much for a simple reboot. At least for me
A proper TWRP with proper vboot will boot always correctly, like the one from xceed.
Did you ever had to do a manual reboot on his version ?
Should be fixed at the root cause .. Hope you agree ?
Cheers
I think there´s a little missunderstanding
The fastboot command helps you to get out of "recovery bootloop". After this you can reboot your device how offen you want without issues.
And yes with all existing TWRP versions I had some reboot hickups and have solved it with the fastboot method...

Interesting .. I did not have any reboot issues with xceed TWRP versions .. I had to use the fix fastboot option once, but this is another topic.
But thanks for your information ...

Good luck !
Hi guys i flashed the 3.5.3 CM today but i decided to go back with 3.26 again, so i followed a guide that tells me to install stock recovery over twrp before i install the rom but after i fastboot flash the recovery i cannot go into the recovery anymore.
i tried to flashed the modified twrp and then boot to recovery but still wont open it.
the phone works and can go into fastboot still but it just wont access recovery
anyway to fix it? sorry if this has been discussed before. im on a mac for more info
TIA

Is your OS booting?
yea
Got the same problem here. Can boot into system and fastboot but if boot to recovery i get the oneplus logo and the bootloaderscreen and then i get a black screen where i should get my recovery. And if wanna Force shutdown my oneplus it freezes somehow. I tried everything to fix this with no result. Stock recovery doesnt work too.
Hi I just had the same problem, I have sent it back to Oneplus for repair. According to the ticket, I had a faulty motherboard, which has been replaced. If you can, do it. I only had to wait for a week before it was sent back.
Had the same problem last night. Following method nr 2 in thos thread solved it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3405700
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using XDA-Developers mobile app
using fastboot to wipe the recovery partition then fastboot flashing modified twrp twice worked for me, i think the oneplus recovery image thats doing the rounds doesn't want to play nice lol
If youre phone boots in to system, download Flashify from play, flash recovery.img (you need to extract .img file). Go to recovery to check if it works. If not try other recovery.
after flashing the community build i cant boot my device in fastboot mode, it wont start the recovery or boot the system sucessfully.

If your device is unlocked, flash the recovery.img from fastboot.
You can download TWRP for oneplus 3 from their site.
Rename the downloaded recovery to recovery.img.
And open fastboot in the path of the recovery image.
Use the command:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Hopefully this helps

managed to fix it the other day, by flashing the modded twrp.. somehow that one worked after that i flashed the 3.26 plus the 3.26 modem ones because if i didnt, my touch screen wont work...
For me, I flashed the twrp from fastboot.
But still the 1+ logo shows when I try to boot in to recovery for 5 sec and shuts down with 2 dots of lights in the navigation button area
The normal boot is working fine. Did flash the recovery using apps like TWRP Manager, Flashify etc. It will show successfulll. But when I try to boot in to recovery, same result.
Please help
I've recently flashed the latest twrp on my oneplus3 a3003 through fastboot. All fine, I flashed the cyanogenmod 14.1 and the gapps 7.1 over the oxygen os. Now I tried to boot into recovery to flash the pixelfy zip file, but I found out that I can't access recovery mode. All I get is boot logo and the capacitive buttons illuminated for a while, then the screen goes off and I have to press the power button for 6/7 seconds. I tried reflashing the recovery.img through the terminal and no result, I tried through TWRP manager, it says successful but the result is still the same. Ah, before installing the twrp I hard bricked the device and I unbricked it, so to me it's like a corrupted partition. Is there a way to restore twrp (or to restore the recovery partition, still being able to flash twrp) without losing data? If no, is there a way to restore it to a funcional state without having to use qualcomm drivers? If no, is there a way to restore it to a funcional state AND keep it that way?
I solved it. Basically the cm14.1 version was blocking twrp or any other recovery aside from the cm recovery. I found a fixed version of the twrp somewhere.

Here you go.
Hello, I flashed CM14 Nougat 7.1.1 and everything worked fine until I tried to boot into recovery to get access to TWRP. If I try and boot into recovery I get the 1+ logo and then just a black screen and i have to hard reboot the phone to use it again. After the hard reboot it just goes back to nougat. I downloaded the TWRP APK to try and restore my previous save but it just does the same thing.
Can anyone help?
Thank you.
I get the same problem. This is WHY we should BACKUP it first. but I didd't, and so are you. I was having lots of works and did not check much news about CM for a long time. but yes, I get the rumors about CM getting shut down. and I check the news. Today I found out CM is shutting down, and my phone is not working.
But, hey, who am I. OnePlus 3 User with lots of experience.
So I tried CM recovery, the newest version works, but there is no backup option, I tried old CM13 recovery. it also black screen. This confirm my theory, this is due to Android 7.1 or CM14.1 upgrade
How to solve this problem?
I found this
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/development/rom-hydrogenos-h2os-beta-edition-oct-t3482259
go to this thread, and download modified TWRP.
BACKUP.
Install your new ROM via any XDA rom. not the CM14.1 build on Dec 25.
Note: If you want Android 7.xx, you could flash the Official Beta ROM(above), or download modem from
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/radio-modem-collection-flashable-zips-t3468628
Happy New Year.

Hey Guys,
somehow, I seem to be too dumb to install TWRP to my new dumpling. I did the following:
- run the official updates (9.0.3 Pie)
- unlock the bootloader using adb
- successfully flash the latest TWRP recovery (twrp-3.2.3-1 dumpling from their HP)
So far, no problems at all. Then I booted directly into recovery, so it won't be overwritten again: I tried unplug + Power/Volume Down, command "fastboot reboot recovery" and selecting recovery from the menu. But everytime I end up with the beautiful stock recovery, I never even saw the TWRP interface.
Any suggestions ? Any help would be much appreciated!!
My only idea: The latest TWRP is from 08/2018, maybe its not compatible to Pie ?!

hi dude, to stay on TWRP you have to flash MAGISK, if not TWRP will always be overwritten by the StockRecovery!!
flash TWRP
reboot into TWRP
flash Magisk within TWRP
reboot system
happy flashing!

works like a charm!
I thougth, the official TWRP site would be the best source, but well... lesson learnt. Anyway, thanks for trying to help, nicorvienne
