hi, my brother gave me a old z5 premium to troubleshoot. It has no lcd (broken screen) and wants to me add one. When i connect to charge, the phone doesnt vibrate or make any noise. my dumb question is, does this phone need an LCD to turn on? i tried button combination but it does nothing. PC doesnt recognized it. it was working fine right before screen broke. I just dont want to buy a replacement and new battery then turns out its completely dead. even tried the button inside the tray to see if it reboots, but nothing..
I'm not completely sure, but mine was still booting up with a broken display and with no display at all. Are you sure the battery isn't completely dead (over-discharged)? That can even prevent the phone from charging while it's off. See what happens when you check it with a multimeter.

I recently opened my phone to fix the power button which wasn't working to well.
The problem is now that I turn on my phone it won't turn on the screen.. I did check that the connector was plugged in, and nothing happened. The phone does vibrate followed by a sound as usual.
Any solution to fix this problem?
Best regards,
DanVazz
You need to get it checked because it is possible that while opening your cell phone, you must have cracked or disassembled some connectors...
I've had this phone for 12 months (Typical! Just out of warranty! ), and I'm still running the initial stock ROM, however, all of a sudden last week whenever I took it out of my pocket and tried to unlock it, the screen stayed blank. Regardless of whether I use the power button or press Home, (or slide the gamepad out) it very often won't display the lock screen so I can unlock it. Occasionally it will display the unlock screen fine, but increasingly often it won't.
The phone is definitely still on, as if I press the volume keys I can hear it "Beep-BEep-BEEp-BEEP" as I push the volume at the side to turn it up. Occasionally after lots of trying it might come back and display the screen for me to slide-unlock, but most times I end up just taking the battery out.
Any ideas regarding what has caused this and what could maybe fix this? I've never dropped it, spilled water on it, or done anything other than it was intended so it's really puzzling and I'm concerned that when I receive phone calls I will be unable to answer them as a result.
Thanks in advance!
I guess it's the flex cable damaged.

Is there a way to tell for certain before I attempt to replace this? I just got a phone call and was able to answer it by dragging my finger across the screen, however the screen was off. So the touch screen is still functioning. It's not the backlight as the screen is definitely still "asleep" and under light you still couldn't see any pixels. It's as if the display is asleep and isn't waking up. I have a feeling it's to do with the phone's ability to slide open, but I'm not sure.
Thanks.
Touch screen still working so means the screen or the flex cable is damaged. But most probably is the flex cable because of the design, lots of people having this issue.
As the above poster said might be the flex but the whole LCD might be dameged hold it under intense light and and watch the LCD power on when the phone turns on if not well...

My Xperia play won't slide to unlock I have taken out the battery multiple times trying to fix it but still nothing the screen is on I can hold down the power button and select options everything works except being able to unlock the phone??someone please help!!?
The G3 just dropped down on the floor with the circle case. Then It was working some minutes apparently with no problem, until I myself turn the phone off and restart it. Then the device just didn't turn on. The only thing is that the screen is black and the led notification blinking green and blue
when i connect the charger, the red led blinks once and then disappears, then after 30 seconds the red led appears which apparently shows that the phone is charging the battery. Also When I connect the phone to the PC, a sound of connection is heard from PC but the PC doesn't complete the device recognition process as no new device is found.
I tried to make a hard reset, but nothing happens when I press the power and volume down keys. Tried some other tricks with the battery and the hard keys on the phone but no result at all, as the same story just repeats. Does anybody have a solution for the problem? This devise is the only android device I have

Did you do anything else after/during the time that the phone was off? And is there no possibility that you cracked the LCD digitizer? I mean it might sound strange but this is what I had with my old phone. I dropped it, nothing serious but then I put it in my pocket and upon taking it out I noticed the screen not turning on. As stated above, my digitizer was broken and multiple people told me that the digitizer had a small crack which I didn't notice, then when I put it in my pocket I put too much pressure on the digitizer cracking it. The LED-light did work though, and this sounds very similar so my advise going to the store and asking wether they know what the problem might be.
(Hopefully this was helpfull hehe)

If you Don't see the LG splash screen when pressing the power button it seems like a screen or digitizer problem for sure.
BUT;
after you try turning it "on" let it sit a few minutes and see if you can call your self or send a text to see if it makes noise vibrates etc. to confirm a screen problem.
OR
Also you can try putting it into download mode.
Battery pull (don't turn on)
plug USB into phone but not computer
Hold volume down AND then plug usb into computer
if this comes up to a pic of something on the phone it will be software related. to get out of this mode you can do a battery pull.
Remember to always read up on topics and things you are doing. There are guides here on XDA to help you out.
Hope you get your phone working

I didn't do anything special after/during the time the phone was off. I checked the screen very carefully under a lamp. No particular sign of crack. Thank you very much for sharing ur experience.:good:

I tried to put it into download mode, but no result at all as no connection could also be made between the phone and PC. Moreover, I tried to make a text/call, but nothing is received by the phone. Thank you very much for ur suggestions.

Seems like the drop damaged the memory and the phone can't reload it, you will have to bring it in

Yeah that's plausible ! I'd bring it in too
Hope you fix your phone fast
Yeah... Probably it's a hardware problem. Someone who checked the phone in order to fix it, said that the problem had been with the device board. Even though I was satisfied with the phone, I have found out that the G3 is a sensitive device, as the height of the table from which it dropped down wasn't too much. So always take care of your G3 phone.
Hi,
I dropped my phone yesterday in the water. I was able to turn it on but the volume button was messed up, so I put it in some rice overnight. Today, in the morning I tried to turn it on and it was stuck in the booting LG logo. I turn on safety mode and then turn it off to get it working again. It was working fine until afternoon. The phone screen went black but it is still working (i was listening to radio and it was still on when the screen went black) I took out the battery and put it in to try to turn it on. LED flashes, it is working but still black screen (I was able to accidentally dial voicemail). The phone also heat up with just the battery inside the phone. It heat up even more when it is "turned on". Is this a hardware issue? Does anyone know how to fix it? I tried the volume down + power, take out battery and reinsert. Nothing works... I know this is a long post, I really appreciate anyone that took the time to read it. Thank you.

Yeah, sounds like a hardware error. Not really much you can do except get a new phone. Sounds like it's sustained water damage, despite that you put it in rice.

I hope I'm posting this in the right place but I'm desperate for help.
My phone, HTC 10, froze and then the screen turned off while I was taking a picture.
The charge should have been around 80%.
Symptoms:
The screen is unresponsive.
Couldn't get the home button/finger print sensor to turn the screen on.
Couldn't get the power button to turn the screen on.
A call to my phone could not reach my number as well.
When plugged in to a wall charger or laptop no indicator light turns on.
When connected to a laptop, the laptop makes that connection noise and a long name with QualComm in it shows up.
Tried Power Button + Volume Up for 10 seconds but didn't get any result.
Side note:
The power button was a little faulty before as well.
You have to squeeze it a certain way to make it work.
I need to somehow restart my phone. Any ideas?

Try to clean all buttons really well, if it keeps failing to boot and the phone is still recognized as Qualcomm it's probably bricked.
Simple explanation of the word bricked :
When the phone doesn't boot, when you can't access the bootloader, download mode or recovery it's bricked!

Strange turn of events: I plugged the phone to my laptop because I read somewhere that it drains the battery. Just for the kicks, after a few hours, I unplugged and re-plugged my phone. Suddenly, there was light. The battery light came back. I immediately switched to the wall charger and once I did that the battery icon appeared showing 1%. Now, it's peacefully charging away. Will see if it actually turns on later on once it's charged about half an hour.
