Hi folks,
Does anybody else's camera reboot their device when they try loading it up?
Does anyone have a fix for it?
Bit of an anti climax when you're trying to grab a quick photo and your phone reboots

Interesting.
Does the same thing happen when connected to a charger?
Have you tried using the factory images of the phone?

It doesn't do it all the time. Just now and then. Only way to stop it is by turning the phone off and back on.
The image is stock. I've not flashed the phone, it's standard

Hi. I recently used the camera app to take some pictures. After that, I locked my phone. When I tried to unlock it, the screen remains black. I decided remove and put back the battery. After I did that, the phone still does not turn on. I connected the phone to the charger, the LED does not light up. Is my phone bricked? I did not flash/install anything, I was just using the camera app. I hope anyone could reply as soon as possible. Thanks.

Take out the battery and wait at least three hours until you put it in again. Now try again.
If it's still not working, try to get into FASTBOOT (start ith with pressed back and power button) or HBOOT (start with pressed volume down and power button).
Hi. Thanks for your quick reply. I tried to go both into fastboot or recovery but nothing appeared on the screen. What can I do now?

So just to clarify - you can't do anything? No LED when charging? No bootloader or fastboot....
Tell us about your phone, rom - bootloader info (what you can remember) s -on or off?

sorry must of missed that... it doesn't sound good - did the phone get hot when it turned off?

No. It does not. The screen remains blank. No sound came out.
Ok... how about the taking only the battery out and plugging it into charge... does the LED come on?

Thanks for offering out to help anyway. I'm still shocked on how the camera could corrupt the whole system.
Yea i'm really confused as to why it does absolutely nothing?!

camera didn't cause this, same thing happened to me when the phone was just idling. I have also seen cases with problems exactly like this before - you're not the only one. HTC will repair this for you.

it does nothing because it died for one reason or another, like I said before it happened to me and a few others too.

who cares, what are you House? not every mystery can be solved - for one reason or another it died, and considering I've seen a few cases of this I'm guessing it's a factory problem with a small percentage of Desires... perhaps a mainboard problem

I sent my first phone for repair 3 times, after the third I got a new one, then a month later it broke again. Works fine now though.. these things happen.
I had to restore a backup last night and now whenever I remove it from the charger it still thinks that it is charging. Has anyone had this issue or have a way to solve this? Thanks in advance!
EDITED: Problem solved! 2nd battery pull worked. Thanks to jd1001!

Do you have to remove the battery to boot the phone up? Or is it just the battery graphic just shows up as still charging?

Just the battery graphic shows up as still charging. It doesn't seem to be affecting anything at this moment. Just annoying, but I would like to take care of it before it could cause any issues.

Strange dude, you could try a different kernel. I had that issue before but it was when the phone was turned off and charging. The phones used to hang with the charging battery logo and I had to battery pull to turn the phone on again.
Once I switched kernels the problem went away. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help. I'll try another battery pull and see if that works. I'm waiting on CM9 to ROM.

Yeah CM are the business. I am using AOKP which utilizes much of CM's work. Might be worth checking it out. All the best.
Been searching for hours on this issue. It's easy to make the Nexus 7 boot on power with a simple fastboot command. Does anyone know anyway to make this happen with this tablet? I am planning on using it as a gauge cluster in my car and would prefer not to have to go back to my nexus 7. The screen size is amazing. If there was anyone with any ideas, that would be helpful. I have tried searching for where the plug in screen was held, but I haven't found anything yet. I was thinking about just replacing loading that screen, with rebooting the device. Maybe something like that would work.
Let me know if you guys have any ideas please! Getting kind of desperate here. Thanks!

So, what you want is for your tablet to come on when the car is started, and off when off?

Only thing I can think of is to allow your tablet to stay in suspend, even force it with power off,
then use tasker to create a script to wake from suspend when plugged in!

That's how I currently have it setup. The problem is if it were to ever run out of battery and shut off, I'd have to take my "cluster" out to be able to turn it back on when it's plugged in and charged.

Run a loop with a breaker in it for power and use a dedicated power source with a switch?

As I do appreciate the ideas, I have already thought about all of these. However I would like it to operate exactly how I had my previous tablet, except with this specific piece of hardware. If it's not possible it's not possible, or I'll just keep looking. Thanks though!
Now that the source has been released and there is a recovery and such, anyone have any other ideas on this? It would really be helping me out! Thanks guys!
I've recently purchased a used Moto G5 (3gb ram version) from eBay. It's been working fine for a couple of weeks but has suddenly developed a fault, the screen will not stay on. It just constantly goes black / blank. When it boots the Moto logo is shown for about a second and then it goes off and will not come back on until I pull and replace the battery.
I know the phone is still functioning as i can hear it sat waiting at the encryption "enter PIN" prompt on boot up, it makes a click sound when briefly pressing the power button.
The only time I can get the screen to stay on is by booting to fastboot. However as soon as I try to boot system or recovery the screen goes off.
Has anyone else had this issue and is there any way to fix it?
Attached photo showing fastboot screen which is all I can get to without the screen going off...

OK thank you. Strangely enough after a full night on charge the phone is working perfectly fine this morning! However I think i'll do that firmware flash anyway just in case. Also wonder if I've got a faulty battery...

You can try a flash, but I don't think there is a battery fault, if there any, bootloader also didn't show up, so there are possible changes of corrupt firmware in you device. And did you replace the original screen with other 3rd party screen. As that is also a reason, someone was having similar issue like you but, he has got the problem after screen replacement.so if you have done a screen replacement then that can be a problem.

No it has the original screen. Bought the phone second hand though so it's fairly scratched (but not cracked).

Try safe mode. If that doesn't work try a factory reset, if your using a custom ROM flash latest stock and try to reproduce the fault. If still continues to happen I would get in contact with Google to see what your options are.

Thanks for your answer! I have tried safe mode and factory reset and the problem persist... It's very weird... I changed the display days ago and after that i had contacted the phone to charge and suddenly the phone turns off when i turns on again I got a message about.. " his phone was turned off as a precaution. battery overheating" something like that was the message... Could be the problem something related with that?
