I had to restore a backup last night and now whenever I remove it from the charger it still thinks that it is charging. Has anyone had this issue or have a way to solve this? Thanks in advance!
EDITED: Problem solved! 2nd battery pull worked. Thanks to jd1001!

Do you have to remove the battery to boot the phone up? Or is it just the battery graphic just shows up as still charging?

Just the battery graphic shows up as still charging. It doesn't seem to be affecting anything at this moment. Just annoying, but I would like to take care of it before it could cause any issues.

Strange dude, you could try a different kernel. I had that issue before but it was when the phone was turned off and charging. The phones used to hang with the charging battery logo and I had to battery pull to turn the phone on again.
Once I switched kernels the problem went away. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help. I'll try another battery pull and see if that works. I'm waiting on CM9 to ROM.

Yeah CM are the business. I am using AOKP which utilizes much of CM's work. Might be worth checking it out. All the best.

Ok guys my problem is simple. Earlier today my phone would charge while it was ON. Now all of the sudden it will only charge while it is OFF. It doesn't make any sense to me because it was charging just fine since I got it and now it wont while its on. Can anyone please help?
Any help is greatly appreciated, not a big problem but a very big annoyance for me.
P.S. Ive tried everything. Reflashed my rom, wiped everything and done all this multiple times. I even tried using a different rom and the problem still persists.

Does it charge with the stock kernel?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Yes it does what should I do? Im still kind of new to the whole rom thing. But I get most of it. I just don't understand because it was charging just fine while it was ON with the rom then all the sudden it just quit.
Also it will pop up for like 6 seconds when I plug in the charger then it just goes away.
Anyone? lol

Which rom are you using and the build? On some of them, the LED won't show while its charging.
I was using MIUI-Evo-1.2.19 now im using MikFroYo-v4.5.
So, the LED crapped out on you on MIUI?
LED still works for me and i'm using MIUI. You sure its not your actual charge port? I have a problem where it takes awhile for it to recognize the usb if its not in 'correctly'.

I can confirm, worked for me the 1o minutes I was using it.
I can't turn on the device while its plugged in and charging while its turned off. I would have to take out the batteries everytime. Is this a bug or is it suppose to be like this?

Good thing I read through this q n a, I'm going crazy too. When I power off (to reboot after installing tons of apps, to refresh etc.) I get the battery charged icon and freezes there. Only battery pull works. I'm on Android Revolution 2.1.0 unlocked and rooted. I guess bug? Annoying, feel like I'm going to tear the cover every time and damage the screen
This happened to me too, and the battery charging icon caused burn-in. Fortunately, it went away after a day or so.
Same bug here. We'll have to hold tight and wait for a fix or run stock.
On my Fascinate you could hold the vol up and power button to get soft boot the phone, but the GNex does not seem to have this feature. I hate pulling the battery.
Same issue for me ... I think we have to open a bug tracking. This is a very annoying problem.
Android 4.0.2
Kernel 3.0.8-gaaa2611
Since my phone is new to me I wanted to power down and get a full charge.. but I can report this bug as well. /cry
Did any of you use a different rom prior to ARHD? I wonder if its something in the kernel or the OS. What allows the phone to show that animation when turned off? That could hint at what modification breaks offline charging.
I have this problem too running a revolution rom. The phone charges fine but I have to pull the battery to boot up. It's a strange one!
does this happen to stock rom? the one shipped with the phone?

No!
The bug happens with custom roms. Infact I went back to the stock rom and (even if rooted) I can charge the phone when it's turned off without having problems.
I am certain the phone still charges to 100% but it appears to be frozen. The only way to boot back up is a battery pull.
Any more info on this from anyone? I saw a 4.0.3 rom yesterday that claims to fix the issue so maybe that's the way forward.
Same here, on bigxie's ROM, if I try to boot with phone plugged in from being dead, freezes right at battery charging icon, have to battery pull. Very annoying.

I agree.... infact I will not use custom roms until the bug will be closed!
This seems to be more prevalent in 4.0.3 roms. I have a deodexed 4.0.2 rom from bigxie which charges just fine when powered off. However any 4.0.3 rom will not let me charge while off.
Not sure if it's an unintented bug but we'll have to see when the full update hits gnex officially.

what and where? GSM usually doesn't apply to us CDMA/LTE users especially if it's a rom/kernel issue.
Might be related to a custom recovery. Do you guys all have ClockworkMod in common? I have a stock recovery and don't have such problems.
I am 99.99999% sure i know the answer to this question, but i figure ill ask anyways....
Is there a way to get into fastboot without the power button?
Recently my power button crapped out on me. I got a new replacement phone, but i wanted to pull files off my old phone...
any help would be appreciated, thanks!
EDIT:
Again, 99.99% sure i know this answer too... but is there a way to sent a power up signal via USB when the phone is off?
does your phone turn on?
if so and you have adb setup, you can use: adb reboot bootloader

take the battery out and plug into usb (connected to computer). put the battery back in and when you see the battery charging on the screen remove the battery again. On mine the battery image starts flickering. at that point i put the battery back in and it rebooted.
This has worked for me a few times. Once rebooted you will be able to see your device using adb and then fastboot.
i got the idea from this post but found the timing i used worked better than his random attempts while holding the x key on the nexus one.

If you're really desperate for the data, you could always open the phone up and manually trigger the button as someone above has posted. There probably is another way via hardware tools e.g. JTAG or something OMAP/flash related but I'm not aware of anything specific.

Have you tried flashing a different kernel( if its custom of course), or perhaps reflashing the rom entirely? if neither of those work and a different cable\charger doesn't work, it could be the battery. How old is the battery?
Most of the times you can fix these type of errors just shutting down your phone, unplugging the battery and let it down for a while (one minute or more is enough). If not, just try what @matinm90 said before me. I don't think format a new ROM is the simplest way to solve the problem tough.
Let us know if you solve the problem!!

yeah technically flashing a new rom or the same one but fresh may not help, but hopefully it would narrow things down lol
Thanks for your help guys I tried a different kernel(franko), a different rom(miui) in which the battery indicator says its charging but battery is still discharging!! I don't think its a battery problem since it charges to a 100% using my friends nexus.

Hi, guys!
My Zuk Z2 Plus have a strange problem.
I can't work on it without energy cable connected. My battery says FULL, with 90-100% of charge, but, if i remove the cable and open an app, it reboot and stay rebooting in logo (until connect the cable).
I tried unlocked bootloader, put another ROM and the problem persisting.
This ZUK Z2 worked well 10 months and now came this problem.
(sorry for my english, i'm brazilian)
Here a video demonstration:

No no, what I was asking, is, if you did unplug you cable when you were in TWRP. Does phone turns off or continues working?
The same thing happens to me, I even thought it was the ROM or something and it turns out that it's the battery, I think

Ohhh.. sorry!
Yes, happens if i try to install a new ROM or uses more "power" from battery.
If the cable is connected, it install normally.

This is bad!
My problem started in some applications and generalized.
Now, anything that consumes more battery power, it restarts, as if it could not supply.
I think I'll try another battery, but it takes more than 30 days to arrive.

Hi, Galileo.
I testes many chargers and all can charge only at 200mA current.
Here 2 pictures with and without cable connected.
