Been searching for hours on this issue. It's easy to make the Nexus 7 boot on power with a simple fastboot command. Does anyone know anyway to make this happen with this tablet? I am planning on using it as a gauge cluster in my car and would prefer not to have to go back to my nexus 7. The screen size is amazing. If there was anyone with any ideas, that would be helpful. I have tried searching for where the plug in screen was held, but I haven't found anything yet. I was thinking about just replacing loading that screen, with rebooting the device. Maybe something like that would work.
Let me know if you guys have any ideas please! Getting kind of desperate here. Thanks!

So, what you want is for your tablet to come on when the car is started, and off when off?

Only thing I can think of is to allow your tablet to stay in suspend, even force it with power off,
then use tasker to create a script to wake from suspend when plugged in!

That's how I currently have it setup. The problem is if it were to ever run out of battery and shut off, I'd have to take my "cluster" out to be able to turn it back on when it's plugged in and charged.

As I do appreciate the ideas, I have already thought about all of these. However I would like it to operate exactly how I had my previous tablet, except with this specific piece of hardware. If it's not possible it's not possible, or I'll just keep looking. Thanks though!
Now that the source has been released and there is a recovery and such, anyone have any other ideas on this? It would really be helping me out! Thanks guys!

Is there a way to get into fastboot without the power button?
Recently my power button crapped out on me. I got a new replacement phone, but i wanted to pull files off my old phone...
any help would be appreciated, thanks!
EDIT:
Again, 99.99% sure i know this answer too... but is there a way to sent a power up signal via USB when the phone is off?
does your phone turn on?
if so and you have adb setup, you can use: adb reboot bootloader

take the battery out and plug into usb (connected to computer). put the battery back in and when you see the battery charging on the screen remove the battery again. On mine the battery image starts flickering. at that point i put the battery back in and it rebooted.
This has worked for me a few times. Once rebooted you will be able to see your device using adb and then fastboot.
i got the idea from this post but found the timing i used worked better than his random attempts while holding the x key on the nexus one.

If you're really desperate for the data, you could always open the phone up and manually trigger the button as someone above has posted. There probably is another way via hardware tools e.g. JTAG or something OMAP/flash related but I'm not aware of anything specific.

The OP said he can't turn his phone on...
How do I prevent the screen from turning on everytime I plug it into the charger, remove it, or it gets to 100%?
I plug it in all the time and I always have to turn the screen off or suffer the wrath of screen timeout. When I unplug to place it in my pocket, again, I must turn the screen off, WHY? The s3 comes with an LED indicator for a reason, so we don't have to have the screen on. WHO IS THIS FOR EXACTLY?!?!
I know this isn't the end of the world but it's annoying as hell! - I can't be the only one can I?
Plug it in.. press lock... it's one button press man.
Wrath of Screen Timeout? Explain?

Technically it's several presses a day. This is a legitimate question that I think a lot of people would at least be interested in. I know a lot of people have learned to live with it by now but we should have the option by now. I mean come on, is this Android or isn't it?

Just a spicy way of saying wait for the screen to turn off by itself. Any ideas?

I agree with you. Its really annoying. Ive been able to disable the screen turning on when unplug but havent been able to get it to stay off when plugging in. BTW this is on CM10.
How often do you charge your phone that you're pressing the button several times a day? I plug it in at night, ok good my alarms on, press off. Unplug it in the morning, oh new emails, unlock, etc, press off.
I don't think anyone has coded it out yet because it's not very noticeable. I spent some time searching but couldn't find anything, complaints or otherwise. Maybe try posting in a custom ROM and seeing if any of those guys have ideas? Anyways, free bump..
Screen Blanks off when charging/laid down

Go to the market and D/L Screebl (Screen Blank)
I set it for min and after 4 secs the screen blanks off. If I have the phone in a using/upright position, It will not go off...
Very Simple and useful app. The portrait and landscape settings are user adjustable. Try it. You'll like it!

Just a thought, what about using the proximity sensor to keep the screen off? I leave my phone screen down when it's charging and when you unplug it it's most likely going in your pocket right?

It still turns on. :\ it's like a wake lock. However it does shut off right away if the sensor is covered

Hey Guys,
I have a S3 AT&T and it just keeps turning on and off by its self about every 20 seconds. I have looked around and many people have this issue and there are a few solution out there but all of those solutions need my phone to stay on for a while. I can't do a hard reset and I can't do any kind of flash because it stays on for such a short time. Also the phone does not have water damage.
Below are the steps I have tried so far.
-Tried a new battery but same issue
-Thought maybe the power button was stuck but it looks fine.
-Tried to do hard reset and flash but does not stay on long enough
Not sure what else to do. Its killing me that I cant figure out how to fix it!! THERE MUST BE A WAY!
Thanks everyone!

Yes it even in the download and recovery menu it does this.
I'm having this exact same problem. Even in download mode it'll reboot. In fact, even while rebooting it reboots. I was lucky in that it stayed in download mode long enough for me to ODIN back to stock, but it's still rebooting. Completely unusable because it never stays on long enough. Can anyone help?
Did it ever take a dive off the table or your hands?
It wouldn't surprise me if something internally was loose....

For myself, not recently. The phone was in perfect working condition, until I updated my ROM. Then when I woke up this morning, this problem occurred.

Honestly, it seems to me as if the power button is stuck somehow. It doesn't look stuck to me, but the behaviour of the phone is like that. The constant rebooting, the way the screen turns on, and even how the power off menu randomly comes up by itself.

Mine has fallen before but nothing serious I'v dropped phones way worse then this. But I do think something is definitely loose. If I just leave the phone alone it doesn't power on or off. But as soon as I pick it up and move it, it powers on then in 20 seconds just goes off again.
Anyone have any idea what could be loose maybe?
Thanks

your best bet is too open up the phone and look at the connectors from the batter to the phone and make sure that those have a solid connection.
99% it is a power button failure. I as well as many others are suffering from this.
Try to avoid using the power button as much as possible. Use the home button to power on and find a softkey to turn your screen off. Easiest way is use quick toggles to turn off screen.

Hi,
Ive googled about this matter and cant seem to find a solution for the galaxy tab s lte but for other samsung devices since s3 is possible.
Ive also tried the Auto Power On app (paid apps) both of them didnt work and requested a refund.
It seems that we have to modify the file /system/bin/playlpm or /system/bin/lpm or /system/bin/ipod for this to work.
Ive tried everything and still doesnt work on the galaxy tab s lte.
What i need is for the tablet to boot upon connected to charger when the state is off. Now all i can see is the battery icon stating its charging but never boot into android.
Anyone have any idea how to make this work for the galaxy tab s lte?
Cheers.
Well it begs the question as to why in the world would anyone want this?
I wouldn't want my tab on every time I charge it.
I think you would need a custom rom, don't the apps you can download/buy, need your device to be already running so they can shutdown or run an app or change a mode when they detect you plugging in or removing the charger.

Why would anyone need this? Let me answer you.
Some of us use our android tablets in cars ... There's app to make the tablet shutdown when u turn off the engine and the power is disconnected (tons of them).
But when u start the engine back and the power is re-connected, the tablet wont turn on. Right now the only solution i can do is to use tasker to airplane mode on the device when the display is off, and airplane mode off when the display turns back on. This saves power so that the tablet doesnt run out of juice overnight in the car.
So most of this has to do with in-car tablet systems that you want it to boot up as you start your engine. I can custom rom my tablet to run CM12 however even CM12 doesnt boot up, some settings needs to be changed and im not sure which part so i need some help on this.
Cheers.

Thanks in advance.

C'mon. You and I both know that this is a niche scenario, and normally it's a bad idea. If your running low enough on battery to run you device dead, you want it to charge a while before turning on. We've all been waiting on a dead phone to get a few percentage points charged so that way it doesn't die immediately upon startup.
I've been leaving my Tab S on a constant power supply in the car. This means I have to turn it on and off manually. I have been toying with using Tasker to turn the screen on/off based on connection with a BT device that would be powered by an switched power source.
The problem I get is warning messages about trying to charge the battery while it is too hot or too cold.

Why dont u try this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.as.powerchecker it will close the android once ur power is disconnected from the car ...
As for turning it back on when u start. Still no solution ...
Any help guys? Last time asking ...
Using Tasker and Secure Settings, I can get the tablet to turn the screen on and off when the power is connected. If rooted, you could turn Airplane Mode on and off in Tasker also. But short of a change in the firmware, I have no idea how to power off and restart based on external power connection.
From what I remember, when CM12 was still buggy... when you connect a charger when it was powered off, it would show the battery icon and automatically reboot into recovery. Of course that was a bug, so I don't really know.

Same here, did you find an answer?
Same here but no solution found
Iam trying to set my tablet to auto start/boot when charger is connected in mini usb port. I didnot find lpm.sh in root\system\bin folder to modify. But i found ilm file with below script. Plz tell how to modify to make powered off tablet to boot when charger is connected.
Script to start "pm" on the device, which has a very rudimentary
# shell.
#
base=/system
export CLASSPATH=$base/framework/ime.jar
exec app_process $base/bin com.android.commands.ime.Ime "[email protected]"
You can instruct init to reboot the device whenever charger mode is detected. Create a new .rc file or edit any existing one:
# /system/etc/init/off_mode_charge.rc
on charger
setprop sys.powerctl reboot,leaving-off-mode-charging

Just got my H7x Saturday and am blowin away that a phone this nice can be had for under $200usd.
Anyways, Whenever I have the phone connected to the power-cord(charging) the screen won't turn off. I'll wait for the 60sec I have it set to, fade, the screen turns off, and then right back on immediately. Does the same when connected to USB on a windows computer. Charging only, file transfer etc. does it no matter the mode.
Any input with help would be greatly appreciated... Thank you

This setting is normally defaulted to off, but check the development option "stay awake"
No, it's set to off. But good call.
It seems like the screen saver would make it do this too. I just noticed that everytime the screen comes on, it's a different picture. However, settings>display>screen saver is off.
Just figured it out.
Under settings>Apps and notif...>notification and status bar> I had 'notifications turn on screen' turned on. That's what was causing it. Strange...
Can anyone else test for this?

Openkirin roms are good, but the support chat in telegram is a bit toxic...
Also, any hi6250 rom will work well, like with the p8 lite 2017; roms there work on the honor 7x too, i've tested.
