Hi everyone,
I tried adding other Gmail emails to my email app without adding accounts to the phone but no way even tried Microsoft outlook if you use other email addresses it is ok but if you try Gmail email apps you been diverted to google again to add an account to the phone. This awful google you already have info why trying to get synching everything on the second phone.
Another solution just listens the mr google and add an account for every email that you use and stop synching but I didn't like this because I read somewhere it keeps synching everything.
3rd party email like yahoo is ok but not really safe to me.
Here we go microsoft outlook if add from inside app at reader mode yes allow adding gmail.com emails.
so found my own solution.
inn outlook app hit top left and all the way down to wrench icon you ll see + add account (it is not adding google account just adding emails.
Great
Try the Nine email client - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ninefolders.hd3&hl=en
I use it for all my email addresses - Office 365, IMAP, and even an old POP address.
It costs $10 but good programs should cost money.
android became another ios dictatorship $10 is must be nothing for us residents but it is a lot money for to many ppl around world, this is insane google.
i just want to an extra email not account how many steps i walk how many fck i had what i m talking or thinking to buy.
There are no more judges in usa i guess this is long subject but so stupid.
i sent back google chromecast because new version not allowing to setup without location data people shoul show their reaction for those stupid actions from dictators like kim un google.

Try Aquamail. The first thing I always do is remove or disable Gmail and install another email app.

Hello all
I'm wondering if there is any way to be able to view the contents of yahoo email folders in outlook. as far as i can tell the only thing i can see is my general inbox.
So far the only solution i have found is to use yahoo Go! but this does not display the conents of my email on my home screen. in addition i have to load the program ever time i want to check my work folder, as well as manually connect. its very cumbersome and the software is bloated with graphics and crap i just dont want to see or use.
In reality, the only thing i want to see is the contents of my folder labeled "work" the rest of my email i will gladly deal with when i am at a computer. idealy, i would like outlook, or a whatever program it is to display the contents of just my "work" folder on my homescreen. if anyone can point me in the right direction here it would be greatly appreciated.
oh also ive heard that google is much better for mobile email. my yahoo account is 15 years old, so i cant give it up, but im considering trying to rig things up so that all of my work email forwards to a gmail account so that i cant then get it displayed on my homescreen.
thanks again guys
ok, this may or may not help. are you using pop3 to connect to yahoo? if so, i think that's your problem. try connection with imap. you should be able to find the connection info on the yahoo site. you may have to do some funny business to make it not automaticly pick up the pop3 settings. i had to for my gmail account. they may actually have a winmobile 6+ tutorial (gmail did). but i know that imap supports folders.
Hey ,
Yahoo gives u pop and imap only if u have a paid account ,, not to free accounts
wow, how restricting. i'm glad i dropped them 5yrs ago for gmail.
thanks for the help. yahoo are real bastards. still trying to ride along on a restrictive model that was good enough back in 1995, but is a joke with the likes of competitors like gmail in this day and age. i too wish i could just dump the damn yahoo account, but ive had this email address for about 15 years, and i also use the thing for work, so it really wont cut it. can anyone tell me if some sort of forwarding to gmail of just my work contacts' email could resolve my problem? if so, is there any special trick i need to be doing?

Sorry, but forwarding is like POP/IMAP in Yahoo. Only available on the paid "Yahoo Mail Plus" accounts. I've switched 95% over to gmail, but check the Yahoo free account once a week.

I think there is a difference between .com & .co.uk or it's that my account is donkey years old as have forwarding on free accounts
Well, gmail or Yahoo, or whatever other, there is no way to keep the email folders and related messages in the Android phone memory and use them offline like in the PC Outlook! That's really missing as one can't consult messages if out of wireless connection range!!!
That's the application Android is missing!
Hey
I was just wondering how many of you would like the ability to disable contact and calendar syncing from your main Windows Live account linked to your phone? When I first realized this was the case I immediately hard-reset my phone and made a new Windows Live account just for the phone so I would not have my 300 Live Messenger contacts in my People Hub however, this is not the case for everyone, and this solution has disabled my ability to find my phone from the internet if it is ever lost or stolen.
The point of this thread is sheer curiosity as too how many xda-dev members are affected by this poor choice of implementation.
What is your make-shift solution?
I read so much about all these extra contacts from Facebook e.a., but really don't experience it as a problem whatsoever. I have some 600+ contacts on Exchange, don't know how many on Facebook, and my Windows Live account pulls data from several sources including LinkedIn, totalling some 700.
I have yet to have a single instance where it's a problem. I mean, scrolling through the contact list would certainly be a pain, but there's search.
Before I even got a WP7 phone, I read that there wa sno way to disable contact sync from your Windows Live account so I just created a new one and using that for the time being. It would be nice to have the option to actually disable that part because I wouldn't mind using my normal Live account which is also linked up to my Xbox account, as I don't believe you can change the email on them?
I wish there was an option to do this
It doesn't bother at all. On the contrary that was the opportunity to get rid of all the rubbish contacts I had on Live Messenger and those that I kept I gave their proper ID, not some random childish name they've been using on Messenger. My contacts list actually looks like an adult list now.
There's no way I would create a new Live ID just for that reason as I've been using it for too many years and it's tied to my Xbox and Zune accounts.
I'm fine with the way it is.
By the way I cleaned up my Facebook contacts the same way. No points having hundreds of contacts I don't care about or barely know. My Facebook friends are actual friends and it's much better like that.

I think that the implementation is great. With calendar and contacts everything gets synced and you can always set the facebook account to only show data for those in your phone or live account.
About the Facebook settings, its great to have it set like I mentioned above and being able to search them at the same time even without them showing on the All section in the contact list.
I took he same approach as you and went to clean both my Live and Facebook accounts. I have everything synced and working flawlessly for my contacts.
I did the same as others and after realizing how many useless contacts I had in Live I just deleted a bunch. However, that should absolutely not be what Microsoft makes you do if you want to manage your Live contacts with WP7.
I really wish they just gave the same filtering option that Facebook's sync provides. Now I still have some 100 people extra that I want to keep but don't want to see on my phone that I am stuck with.
I assume they do this because of the way email works--if you hid the contacts in the People Hub then you may not be able to email those people using your phone.

yea but answer this, how many times have you emailed a friend for a NON-BUSINESS related subject as opposed to IM'ing them or posting on their facebook wall/inbox.
email is dead.
ME!! ME!!!
I don't want to sync ANYTHING from the live account but xbox live stuff and email. I don't want contacts, calendar, etc, etc.
I have an exchange account for that.
It's annoying to see two calendars listed even though I only use the one in my exchange account. It's also useless for me the photos, feeds, etc, etc.
I wish that every single account would let me pick what I actually want to sync.
I have a primary GMAIL account that is my main one that has all my contacts etc...
When making purchases in Market Place this is the account that the transactions usually take place on.
However, I recently purchased a game on another account (somehow it was logged into one of my other GMAIL accounts) and it's annoying having to switch accounts when trying to play that game.
Because if it's not on the account it was purchased on, the game icon would show up as not being installed on the phone.
Anyone know how to transfer purchases if it's even possible?
the new version of Android Market 3.3.0.0, lets you choose which account to purchase from
Correct, which I'm using.
The purchase has already been made on my other GMAIL account as oppose to my primary GMAIL account...
I'm wondering if there is away to transfer (authentication?) my purchase over form my secondary to primary GMAIL so I don't have to always switch to the secondary to play the game.
Otherwise, I have to keep switching back and forth and it's annoying.

The simple answer is no, they limit this to prevent piracy. You could pull the game from Root/Data/App and try to install it like any other app.
Here is the scenario.
I have my Samsung Epic. I purchased a Samsung Epic for my wife. She has her own Gmail account so when I configured the phone, I configured it for her gmail account. I would like to use a couple of the apps that I purchased in my Market on my wife's phone. I know how to add my account to my wife's phone, and get my paid apps to show up in her market. Here is the problem.
I would like to keep her phone on her market. How do apps that do license checks work in this scenario???

So you're trying to use a single user license for multiple phones? Gotcha...
P.C. answer: She has to purchase each paid application under her account if she plans on utilizing any of them.
Non-P.C. answer: Given what you are trying to accomplish (pirating software for your wife's device), this may or may not work with multiple phones accessing the same Google account. You can have more than 1 Google account on the phone. After you have added the 2nd Google account to the phone, press the menu soft key and select "Accounts" within the Market. Select which account you wish to use. This also means that your wife will also have access to your Gmail, calendar and all that is Google for your account.
I highly think Google did not intend people to share their account with others (family, friends or etc.) to circumvent the purchasing of Market applications. Whether they properly coded their software to prevent such actions is a different matter. I guess you will find out.

I am not asking about theft. I thought that I read on Google that purchase of an app allows me to use it on all of my devices. Since my wife's phone is on my Sprint account, under my name, I thought that this was legit.
http://www.google.com/support/androidmarket/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=113410
I know the example isn't exactly like my scenario but the verbiage states "Your application purchases are tied to your Google Account and can be installed an unlimited amount of times on any device". There is nothing there about simultaneoius uses.
As for your non-PC answer, I can set my wife's phone to non sync my e-mail and calendar, but I am more concerned about the license check. How does that work with multiple market accounts?? How does the license check work?
What about folks with a phone and a tablet? I've been curious about this.

With the market and Amazon market I have all apps that I purchased on all of my devices. He would have to set it up with his gmail as main one and then add hers. He could then set it not to synch his gmail on her phone. He may like it to synch his calendar on her phone. Lots of families do that.
Hope this helps.

And what if she wanted to purchase an app on her Google account? Would her account have to be primary to use the paid apps?
The account doesn't have to be set as "primary" per se. Just set up husband account on wife's phone, and set to not sync contacts etc. Open the market app, soft key menu, select account. Select husband account. Download app. Re-set account in market to wifes account.
The market will find updates for both her and his accounts automatically for installed apps on her phone.
I have two gmail accounts of my own, and apps installed from both. It's basically the same thing as what OP is asking.

Wow. I didn't realize you could do that. Nice to know. Thanks for the info.
Samsung Legendary Epic
with the older version of the market, the purchaser had to be the main gmail account on the device. with the new market, it doesnt matter who is #1 or #2.
I set up a seperate "family" gmail account so we can share paid apps across our devices without having access to each other's gmail. I have a few paid apps on my own account from before I did this, but I can always log into one of their phones and download the apps, then delete the account. Only issue there is won't get updates unless I log my account back in.
Good to know this.. was a bit vague about the TOS..
All good suggestions. Here's one more:
You could get AirDroid (available off Market) to export the paid app of your choice from one phone and transfer it to another phone. It's quick and easy.
Plus I recommend AirDroid as a generally useful app anyway. =)

Yea you can also use a file manager with root permissions or Titanium backup to get the apk and install it on any device you want.
However, the easiest thing to do is use a single account to purchase all applications on and sync that to each device. Families do this all the time. 1 account for all paid apps and sometimes pictures, then their own personal account for mail and etc.

Done this with Google Music as well. It's nice having one central family gmail account so everyone can share music, pictures and apps.
Plus Google Play allows you to set up a pin number on individual devices to keep my kids from trying to purchase paid apps without telling me. This is the one feature that the Amazon App store is severely lacking. I have no problem using my Amazon account on my wife's phone, but I won't put it on my kids' as there's no parental controls to block one click purchases other than in-app purchases.
I recently picked up a Verizon LG3 and love it so far. I do have one issue where my corporate global address list doesn't show up in contacts. My personal contacts from my Exchange account show up, and no problems with calendar or email. Any suggestions on what I need to do to get the GAL contacts?
When you say GAL contacts do you mean the actual global address list or the contacts you have saved into your corporate exchange account?

The corporate global address list is missing. Personal contacts that I have saved in Outlook come through fine, but the company address list does not.
Okay you should be able to open the people/contacts app and then press the search button and be able to search for anyone within your corporate organizations.
They aren't there. My personal contacts are there, but not the corporate list.
You will need to search them using the search function as the GAL will not save locally to your device... Just press search and type someone's name and that person should pop up. It may take a moment as it has to pull from the exchange server

Is there not a way to pull all of the contacts into the contacts file of the phone? I've setup other users with other Android phones and the entire GAL is available on the phone.
I work in the IT department of a corporate company and I have not seen anyone set up like this. I am going to test myself with my own corporate email account to see what can be done

I also work in the IT department of our company, but I don't handle any Exchange related duties. I believe they are using Epicenter to create a cached copy of the GAL for mobile users. It may just be a case where my user account isn't included in the list of users to receive this GAL list.
Yep I reckon you would need to request access to this from your manager... Anything for these corporate companies to save money
