Pixel Xl Widevine L1 support - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

As metioned in that title, does anyone know for sure if the pixel XL supports Widevine L1 DRM? According to the app DRM info, my pixel XL does not. That seems odd for a phone coming from Google. Seeing that and not really using root let to me going back full stock (was using stock + magidk + unlocked bootloader before but now stock and locked). No change though and the DRM info app still shows Widevine LET. Not a major issue right now but it bothers me more that it doesn't appear to support the proper DRM protection than anything else.

Anyone able to at least check this on their unrooted pixel XL phones?

Ive always rooted and romd but im a little hesitant because of the drm possible issues and the fact the the bootloader unlocked cannot be reversed as of now if you go to resell the phone.

Widevine L3 making non-stock tablet useless for streaming :(

We know that Netflix has disappeared form the play store for those of us running custom Roms, but there have been workarounds. What I have been unable to work around is Vudu.
I suspect it is complaining of the Widevine L3 (no root but unlocked bootloader automatically sets to L3), but it has stopped logging in (works on my stock pixel) and I cannot get a response from support.
I suppose my only surefire way to get everything back to 100% is to do a full revert to stock.
Very displeased with the way the DRM is ruining our tablets...
I know some are heading to MoviesAnywhere (which does work - for now), but my tv shows don't port there.

Unlocked bootloader and Netflix?

So right as I got the phone I unlocked the bootloader, always do it since I like messing around with my phone. All my apps installed fine except for Netflix. According to some articles it looks like Netflix blocks anyone who unlocks their bootloader. Apparently they made this change back in May but I do not have this issue with my unlocked 5x(still on 7) or Shield K1(also on 7). Even stranger is that while Netflix shows as incompatible with my device, I can install Netflix VR, which is an exact replica of the Netflix app but in a VR room.
I also read that some people had an issue installing Netflix with phones that were 18:9 display ratio. Is anyone else having this issue? Maybe post if you are or are not and what your bootloader status is.
flash this kernel
patches CTS so you pass safetynet

Just install the apk from Netflix, they have it available, Google it, but it won't update unless you download the newer versions as they release.
My bootloader is unlocked. I also did the flash unlock critical. I also could not download it from the play store, but I downloaded the latest version from APKMirror, and it works just perfectly on my 18:9 2 XL screen. It fills the entire screen automatically with no black bars on the side.

Questions on Rooted Pixel 3 XL Abilities (Rooted Apps)

So i have a Pixel 3 XL rooted. I have questions about how to use the rooted device and what i do with it.
I want to be able to tether my cellular connection over VPN, the same as Tether me is to IOS in Cydia store, is that possible.
I also want to be able to leave apps open in the background, as if im using them, i dont want them to close or ( Go to sleep) after a while, like Backgrounder or Watchdog is the IOS, is there something like that for a rooted device?
I would like to be able to see what bands im connected to, or tower im connected to, is that possible with this rooted device?
Is there a way to enhance data speeds on my rooted device.
Also being that my bootloader is unlocked, it says that my phone is not secure and i should not put nothing sensitive on it, is that true, if so then why root.
You asked this before on the Pixel 3 forum and got a few answers to your questions there.

As for what bands you are connected to I believe Signal Spy is the app you would use.
The bootloader message is normal. It warns you that the OS can be modified (which you did by rooting) and certain protection features will not function the same as if the bootloader was locked. This is the trade off when rooting.
Sure would be nice if we could suppress the warning message that appears on pixel 3 phones that have their bootloader unlocked.
I was able to get rid of it on my old Moto X pure phone.
Do you think it will be possible to do that on a pixel 3?
Edit: after a few searches, it looks like the warning message can't be removed,

[Exynos Root] Video DRM Broken (Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+)

Today Disney+ launched in my Region and I was keen to try it out.
Unfortunately I couldn't.
I received a cryptic "Error 39" trying to play back anything.
I then found that Netflix doesn't work either (Stuck loading anything),
Prime Video was the most helpful throwing a "Decryption Failure"
The phone passed Safetynet and shows Widevine L1. Any suggestion how to fix this?
As a workaround, I found the liboemcrypto disabler which restored partial functionality. With this Module I can watch all three Services, but Widevine Level changes to L3 and I therefore get a max resolution of 540p.
Is this just the state of play in 2020 or on Android 10?
I don't have any problem on my rooted P20 Pro (Android 9, Full HD).
Given your P20 Pro is unaffected, it probably has to do with Samsung Knox even though it passes Safeynet.
Any news on this? Is it possible to keep an S20+ Ultra 5G (european) on Widevine L1 with unlocked bootloader a Magisk Root? And working netflix-like apps?
Thanks in advance.

Not that I am aware. I have since sold the Phone, and gotten it back with bad ebay feedback after the buyer complained to Paypal that the phone was broken because Samsung Pass didn't work - despite me clearly writing that I have unlocked the Bootloader and tripped Knox in the description
Now attempting to sell it again. I don't want a phone without Call Recorder and Widevine Level 1, so Samsung is no longer an option for me.
