Hello, I live in the US and would like to buy an exynos s9 for the unlockable bootloader.
I would like to know if anyone has a bought a phone from the seller sobeonline1 or never-msrp.
I am seeing that a lot of people have exynos phones and cannot unlock the bootloader, and I would to know if anyone can confirm that these sellers are offering a version that at least has OEM unlock after 7 days.
Thank you in advance,
Almunt
I bought from never-msrp. Yes, it is bootloader unlockable. But don't forget you will lose Samsung pay forever. But! They sell Egypt versions, which means no SPay out of box. So I needed to install Russian firmware and boot it up with Russian sim card to make it work. Anyway, if you don't care about SPay, you can unlock bootloader as soon as you get your phone. Btw, discover cards don't work with international SPay. So kind of useless.

Also, my partner has s9 on snapdragon, it has much better signal (t-mobile), especially 4g - Internet speed much faster ( like twice), same with wifi speed. Also the interface is faster and smother overall

I don't think I will be using S-Pay as I plan to unlock the bootloader as soon as I can. I am leaning towards soleonline1 right now because they currently have a lower price. Is the call dropping issue that people with exynos phones are reporting appearing on T-Mobile? It seems like the issue might be only occurring on phones with certain carriers.
I bought mine from sobeonline1. CSC is XSG. I'm at 150h uptime hopefully it'll pop up. I kept SIM in and didn't reboot just in case.

I would just like a confirmation. Do you see the oem-unlock setting on your phone when you first got it? Also what was the condition of the phone when you received it? Some of the feedback seems to be reporting that a used phone was sent.

My OEM unlock just showed up after 7 days. I did factory reset, SIM in, Samsung and Google account registered, and didn't have a need to reboot so I didn't. I took the most cautious route because I wanted to make sure I have OEM unlock before my return period expires.
As I said before I purchased from sobeonline1. I picked it because it was cheaper than never-msrp. It seems to be sealed but it is weird that out of the box the phone booted up to home screen instead of setup screen. I have no complaints though since there is no sign of use.
I would like to provide an update. I ended up buying the phone from never-msrp and I received an AFG csc phone. The phone was completely sealed and showed no signs of use once it turned on. I received it on a Friday and the next Friday it got the oem-unlock setting about a half hour after 168 hours since being turned on. During the week up to oem-unlock I updated the phone and turned it off and on multiple times. I did not have to change the csc and I did not reset the phone during that time.

Nobody should care about pay. Yea maybe it's cool, especially in f.exp. in russia to check out 2kg of grečka and prosciuto with a phone but is it really that cool to do it everytime it's not even reliable as card, even credit card is not accepted everywhere nor as dead unfailing as cash

This what everyone should do. Applaud. Spit into carriers face back. If the law doesn't protect you (things like this must be illegal, but not in the murica freedomland)

i just check my imei and its showing blacklisted thats after i gave samsung my imei for the return and waiting on shipping box. as of Tuesday. be careful guys think sprint or Samsung are blocking imei now
Seems pretty logical that they'd blacklist an imei for a phone that they expect to receive back as part of a recall, doesn't it? When you report a phone stolen, they blacklist the imei so a thief can't use or sell it easily (and to stop people from making fake claims and then keeping or selling the phone plus the replacement). They expect that since you've initiated the return process as part of the recall that you've also powered the phone down and will not use it (since that's kinda part of the agreement).
Yes mine has been blocked since last month. First wave. Only way is to swap imei number with another phone. I've had two guys that do imei cleaning and they told me the imei are no good for the note 7 and whatever carrier it was on will be blocked from use. Like now I have the Verizon version but it's blocked but still works great with att though.

In other words no note 7 imei will be accepted on any network pretty soon so only way if to imei swap. Easier to do it your rooted and have someone else do it for you.

If its a other imei from a different line other then the note 7 then yes, probably like from a note 5 or 4 but even then i dont know if u can just change the imei on the note 7 if not just changing the board won't work cause they will block all imei that ever was a note 7 that left the factory .

I don't keep my phone in my pocket or in my hand most of the time. I work professionally and keep it on my desk. Corporate email security policies dictate you have to constantly unlock the device and no notifications on lock screen. I also use it as my music streaming device all day. So many times a day I need to unlock it to either check notifications or change songs, etc.... Because it doesn't have a front mounted home button or fingerprint reader, I have to either awkwardly squeeze the phone to press the power button to wake it, and then enter a 5 digit code to unlock, or pick it up to get my finger to the back.
All of this many many times a day is unnecessary motion and honestly bull crap. I don't want to pick my phone up dozens of times a day. With the Note 7 and now the S7 Edge I can reach over with one extended finger and wake and unlock the phone all in one tiny fingertip press.
I know most people are in love with the rear fingerprint reader. When you are holding your phone it is very natural. Other than that I loved the phone. But when a device makes the most simple task annoying dozens of times a day, every day... for two years....... Nope... can't do it...

(edit)According to user ihatevz in post 7 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72920750&postcount=7), the VZW edition is not unlockable
I see threads regarding TWRP and unlocking etc., but I can't find a straight answer regarding whether or not the bootloader on the VZW edition is capable of being unlocked.
Yeah this is exactly what I want to know. I'm starting to get frustrated about it to the point of going to Best Buy to get one just so I can try it and see.... because apparently no one here has one.
Rule of thumb is no for all Verizon phones.
Some people seems to do it by calling up tech support and trying to fool the other side that they have a non-Verizon device, but I don't think it's worth the effort.

I would agree....if it weren't for the unlocked Nexus 6 I am currently using on Verizon. I understand that it is pretty unlikely for a non-nexus phone to be bootloader unlockable on VZW, but I am in need of a new phone and current deals have a z2 and a Pixel for the same price. I'd prefer this phone over a gen1 Pixel (assuming the VZW z2 is unlockable, ofc), so I'd like to know for sure and someone has one, so someone knows for sure.
I chatted with a VZW rep and they said there is no VZW specific Moto Z2 Play and the one you get from VZW comes straight from Motorola. When pressed for a concrete answer on the unlock-ability of the bootloader, I was given a link to chat with Motorola with the suggestion they'd have more detail. However, that chat didn't go far as the Moto mobile rep said they have no info on the bootloader, then gave a link to the Bootloader Unlock program (on which the z2 is not listed).

Yeah that is why I have a feeling it might be unlockable... if there was a VZW version of the phone, it would be the Droid Z2, not the Moto Z2.
Also the bootloader unlock page says the list is not inclusive of all the models. You can try to unlock it and see what happens.
After this info, I feel more confident about giving this a try, so I am going to order a VZW Z2 Play from Best Buy tonight so I can pick it up tomorrow (I would do it now but I don't have my Best Buy credit card on me for the pickup). I recently learned that there is no restocking fee if I buy a phone and return it in Ohio, so I feel like its worth a try at least as I won't be out anything but time if I don't want to keep it.
Hello everyone. I went all the hassle to buy the verizon phone all the way from china to the usa and guess what? CANT BE UNLOCKED!!! DONT WASTE YOUR FRICKING TIME. So no. I would ask devs next time under the root forum to please indicate what they used to root and unlock the bootloader. Because Verizon cannot. Thanks bye

you guys are all wrong. The phone had the verizon logo on it and it came straight from moto. It sucks that it can't be unlocked. So dont waste your time. I hate the moto service too because they all are from india and think I mean that i want it carrier unlocked. they don't know what boot loader unlocking is.
---------- Post added at 09:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:49 PM ----------
And before all of you ask, yet I bought it from the motorola site and the only option to buy is the verizon version. the gsm one doesn't come out til later. So don't waste your time buying this phone if you want it to be an unlocked bootloader. Just an FYI. And it does come with the verizon logo on it. You can't buy it otherwise. I am pretty pissed off though because I did prior speak to a rep that was a tech that said it could be unlocked even if it was verizon, but what a liar. He must have thought I meant carrier, I am about done with motorola. I have the g5 plus right now and its great but I am tired of the bullsh&t verizon does by not allowing the bootloader to unlock. Like f*ck you verizon.

So they actually said the unlocked version wouldn't have CDMA? Or just their canned line of "the phone has to have CDMA to be part of this network" they rattle off?
Also, wouldn't a phone with VoLTE work if it had VZW LTE bands even without CDMA?
He said it wouldn't come in the cdma form but who knows how he got that...
It's true. The phone only gets LTE. No CDMA roaming. Also texts don't get marked as sent, they do get sent to recipients, but your phone displays not sent.
I literally have tried every firmware, reflashing every modem. I've tried even flashing prl files on it, nothing. It's missing whatever the radio band or whatever it's called, that allows for roaming on verizons network. This means no 3g and no 1x. I often wake up with no bars at all anymore. It takes some time to reconnect. It's pretty bad, not sustainable for a phone.
I am on Verizon Wireless. My wife has the Motorola Moto Z Droid, and their is a known battery issue with the phone. The only way she can use her phone is if it is connected to the wall. So her friend gave her, her Verizon Note 8. However, upon testing it is suspended. Is there anyway to get around this such as new firmware, rom, etc? I wouldn't even mind taking over the payment's, but i'm not sure if that can happen.
Thanks in advanced.
EDIT: The Verizon Galaxy Note 8, that was given to us, is suspended from Verizon's network due to not making payments (i believe) is there anyway I can get it activated on my plan? yes, a carrier can make it inactive until payments resume. its like being put on silent.

its the same thing as when a car note payment or payments aren't payed as agreed, they attempt repossession but in the case, they suspended until payment agreement or plan is resumed. best just to call and face the music. I have found that when you seemingly face the issue, they just want an attempt for you to contact them, hence the outcome is better than any legal ramifications. I assure you that attempting to switch carriers with throw a flag because current carrier must release you first then all else will work out
Verizon suspended acct
Call Verizon and tell them you bought the phone from a pawn shop but are unable to activate it and see what they say. maybe they can take the lock off for you. Doesn't hurt to try. All they can say is no.

that's very sad and wrong for someone to present a smartphone because they got suspended, and it sounds like a sad ethical issue more than technical. only until prior carrier lifts the suspension will it become able to activate enough to get it working. Whoever the carrier will need to lift it first. Its the same thing as putting a BOOT on a tire for parking tickets.

i had an overseas account breach my cable tv acct and slapped 6000.00 of iphoneXs in my account, and all were SUSPENDED, virtually unable to transmit data or activate. The fbi investigated and caught them. my issue was a breach, this issue here is easier to resolve and hopeful OP doesn't have to pay to lift suspension.

Anyway thanks to everyone. I just keep my pixel, and wait for good news for vzw. Root is an bounus for me.
Random note, unlocked Google pixel 3 models have an EID listed on the box vs the vzw version has an iccid. Also Verizon models have an imei starting with 35 vs Google's 99
SIM unlock and Bootloader unlock are two different things. It sounds like your phone is a Verizon SIM unlocked phone which allows you to use on any network with any SIM. But from what I understand, at the moment, all Verizon Pixel 3 phones are bootloader locked. They cannot be rooted nor Bootloader unlocked.

Too funny when even the carrier argents don't know the difference and spout off the same misinformation as private sells and those who purchase from them.
I mean really, when it's stated unlocked it means carrier unlocked. A bootloader unlock would never be described as that. It would say bootloader unlockable or bootloader not unlockable. If a CSR says unlocked it can only mean one thing. On the Google store the Pixel 3s are either Fi, Verizon or unlocked. Does anyone really thing they mean bootloader unlocked?
So from now on when you hear unlocked you now know what it means. If the description is bootloader unlocked you also know what it means. Mr. Verizon man before I buy the phone I'd like to know if the phone is unlocked. Yes, of course it is. You get the device and can't unlock the bootloader. Now whose fault is that?
Can i flash unlocked US firmware on verizon note 10? I am using the phone outside the US and whenever i insert a sim card it works for a few moments and then the change carrier notification pops up. I think the phone modem is unlocked and it has something to do with the software.
The notification comes from the dialer app.
Please help.

I had the same issue after buying a supposedly "unlocked" Verizon N10+ Even after flashing the U1 (unbranded) firmware I still got the same message you did. The phone is locked to Verizon. I believe that after 60 days the lock comes off (assuming the phone isn't blacklisted)

Verizon phones used to be unlocked from day 1. They recently just started the 60 day rule before it's unlocked... Within the last 2 months

It would seem that the phone is locked to verizon for 60 days. I imagine you need to have a valid verizon sim card inserted and active on a line for the 60 days. The unlocking is supposed to be automatic.
For reference here is the policy from Verizon:
https://www.verizon.com/about/consumer-safety/device-unlocking-policy
If anything I would call verizon and double check with them to confirm the above is true, and the phone qualifies for that 60 day unlock.
But to answer the question you should be able too. So long as your doing something like flashing the N975U with the N975U1 firmware.
Also flashing the U1 firmware will not have any impact with carrier/network unlocking. The term "unlocked firmware" infers the firmware is from the phone bought from Samsung. The U1 model from samsung is carrier unlocked and has no carrier bloat.
I know that the flashing a different rom doesn't really sim unlock the phone. But in this case the sim actually works for a breif amount of time untill a software notification which comes from the dialer app pops up and blocks it.
Isn't there a chance that flashing a bloat free snapdragon rom might actually do the trick?

In the US
Flashing ROM made for unlocked phone will not remove SIM lock on locked phone

If its blacklisted in verizon and I want to use it outside the us. Is unlocking the device gonna make other sim work, just not verizon or any us sim correct?

If the phone is blacklisted it is either reported as lost/stolen, an unreturned insurance claim or was financed but never paid off fully..
Don't think xda allows this line of discussion on the forum because of the potential liability for theft of service/device.

My phone was blacklisted and they changed the imei number. It is now unlocked to all carriers but I can't sell it back to T-Mobile or Samsung because it is not the original imei

I had my n976v imei # changed. Because the person I bought it from blacklisted It. It now works on all networks but I can't sell it to T-Mobile or Samsung etc. Only privately. Which is fine because I'm keeping the phone anyway

officerstyles bypassing the blacklist that phone is presently on is borderline fraud and/or theft of service.
The blacklist exists for a reason and not a trivial one either. If the phone landed on that blacklist it did so for a very good reason (i.e. It was financed but not paid off, stolen/lost, an insurance claim that wasn't returned, etc).

I contacted Verizon a few times and they say that phone is unlocked yet the notification still appears. How much did it cost to change the imei?
SO, not to hijack this thread, but the topic/title fits what I am trying to do. My VZW Note 10 + is passed the 60 days, an is "unlocked". I flashed the unlocked U1 firmware, and have a ATT/Firstnet sim in it, and it is working fine. I can't seem the get it to change like my note 9. On my 10+, even with the ATT/Firstnet sim, it shows (VZW/VZW/VZW), where on my note 9 it shows (ATT/ATT/VZW).
Can I get my note 10+ to show ATT? I also had to change my voicemail number manually to work for ATT.
Thanks for any info and assistance.

Did you take the sim card out, flash it with U1 firmware (using the csc_*** and not the home_csc), perform a factory data reset after successful flashing and then put your sim card in (and allow the restart to apply settings change for the sim card)?
That's the process I followed before and it worked. If I skipped a step it ended up with things not working like they should be.
Ok. So flash U1, then let boot up. Should reset in software or in the recovery menu? Then after reset, go through setup with sim during boot?

*Flash u1 and let it boot up after successfully flashing
*Go through setup, skip all as many options you can until done
*Factory data reset the phone (not in the recovery menu)
*After phone is done with FDR set it back up again
*once setup is done put your sim card in and let it restart
This is pretty much what I did
