I don't know whether anyone faced this problem or not.....
My Phone's MAC ID has changed after flashing a custom ROM.Since my Wifi uses MAC ID filtering, I'm not able to connect to my office wifi.
I tried flashing the stock ROM Using QPST..,But no luck...
If you remember your old MAC address then you can restore it using this Guide.
Use your phone's backed-up qcn file to edit the MAC hexadecimal.

So my college uses mac address validation for its wifi. I would try to get my phone registered, but they do not allow phones/game consoles. I want to spoof my laptops mac address to get internet on my phone.
So far I have temp rooted my phone and installed the Android SDK onto my computer, what should I do next? I looked up guides on the internet but could not get them to work. Because I am a new user I cannot post links but here is some text from the site you can google:
This is a HOW TO about how to spoof your MAC address. A MAC address is a combination of numbers and letters that are unique to your own wifi card. I am not responsible for how you use this, I am just putting it out here. Don't flood this thread with how it is illegal because there are legal uses for this (such as pen testing).

Click to collapse
It would change the mac address temporarily but it would go back to its original right after I try to connect to wifi.
Thanks (p.s. please use noob language, I just got into the whole android thing about a week ago).
Here's a post from the Hero forum that may help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=686789
WARNING: do not flash anything from that thread
So would I still need to unlock the SPL (using the G2/desireZ files)? Or would I be able to skip that part?
Sounds like you would need the DZ/G2 ENG HBOOT...
I have never got this to work, anyone else have an idea on how to do this?
Before I get an upgrade.
I want to see if i can try and flash my I9000 (galaxy s I) to a new MAC address...
Anyone know what's involved? I've tried the software mods, I even used ADB and modified it's "MAC" address, but it's not a perm
solution, basically I want to clone a NIC (wifi) MAC address.
Any pointers? - Cheers folks.
I was trying to spoof my MAC address permanently, so I followed instructions from some guys suggested at the Nexus 4 forum. I was able to edit the file (/persist/wifi/.macaddr) via Terminal and it worked.
I accidentally deleted that file a couple of days after that trying to set another MAC address. I still got internet connection and I got a new MAC.
The problem is that I want to change that MAC but I can't since the .macaddr is nowhere to be found and I don't know from where does it get the new MAC address.
Any advice?
I want to change or spoof my mac address but can not find any working solution. I tried several apps, guides on the forum but to no avail. After changing the mac I can not authenticate to any wifi by entering the correct password.
Hope this is the correct section, thanks in advance :good:
I have an LG D855 G3, 16Gb
Sorry for my bad english
Bump! I also have the same question. Thanks.
You could give QPST a try. Back-Up the relevant partitions and edit the MAC with a hex editor and reflash the updated partition. No idea if the G3 is 100% compatible with QPST, but it definitely shows up and connects to it in certain modes/conditions.

Please Help Me,
Hi at first at all you need the Stock rom and flash tool. Best way is over Moto-Lenovo Tool. Than need Seach how back-up the DB's from sec-partition, for Write later all Info back to the Phone like in Factory. Like : Barcode, WiFi Mac address, Bluetooth mac address, Imei1 and Imei2 also all other details. Search for recovery Imei and wifi mac address. i Found here on xda all infos allready.
When you have all, than you need use the flash tool from Moto-Lenovo to format all the Phone, but make Sure you have the DB's for restore all info. Than you flash the Phone again with the Stock-Rom.
After you flash the Rom, you need Write the S/N, IMEI, Wifi and Bluetooth Mac address, also the Barcode. than the Phone is like new.
